Our first wine tasting to start our trip off and ended up to be one of favorites. I made reservations far in advance on the website for the Connoisseur Cave Tour and Tasting. Clos Pegase located in Calistoga was a perfect stop on our way to Yountville where we were staying. Upon arrival, our tasting room hostess, Susan introduced herself and gave us a pour while waiting for another couple to join our tour. Our group was only 4 people which was very nice. Susan was great, very informative during the time we had, talking about the history, architecture, grapes and production. The cave tour was wonderful all the while Susan was pouring tasting of their latest and greatest. We ended the tour in the cave room where we had a pairings of wine and food which we so good. Loved this whole experience! Definitely worth a visit: loved the wine, hostess, tour and food pairing experience.

We came on a Sunday afternoon using our "Wine Passports". You can buy them online for $75, go to 16 different wineries and enjoy complimentary tastings. It's a steal! Most wineries cost between $40-60 per tasting. All you have to do is call ahead and make an appointment. Clos Pegas was beautiful! They have a huge, open entry way with statues that lead to a large green lawn and the estate. You can pay for a tour of the estate, if you'd like. The tasting room was pretty private, they could host about 4 parties at a time. Our tasting felt personal and we felt well taken care of. It was a lovely experience!

Clos Pegase is a smaller winery that makes only 20-25k cases of wine a year (compared to 30k+ at other wineries) which is why their wines are only sold at their tasting rooms. We made reservations online ahead of time and prepaid beforehand. Surrounding the parking lot is a large heritage garden in the front that serves as a commitment to water conservation. In the middle of the building is the Friendship Bench with the characters Rabbitwoman and Dogman facing each other symbolizing opposites coming together. That's definitely something I haven't seen before. Each tasting was $40 and we sampled four of their wines. Out of all the wines my favorite was the 2018 Napa Valley Red Blend that was aged for 38 months and was very smooth. It had more body and was not as tannic. It was no surprise it was one of their most expensive wines. Some other ones I liked were the 2021 rose and the 2021 chardonnay. They have indoor and outdoor seating but if the weather is nice I recommend sitting outside with nice views of the vineyards. Sitting on their chairs just made me want to take a nap in the sun. I also liked that our server poured the wine, gave us some history and notes, then left us to try it ourselves in peace. Afterwards we walked around the grounds and the courtyard soaking in the sun. The vibes were great and our family enjoyed our time here.

This is by far on our top 3 list in Napa. The staff is always super friendly and make you feel super comfortable. The property is well well kept and spacious. But the wine is the reason we come to Napa. We lean towards reds so we can't say a whole lot about the white wines on the list. You can't go wrong with any of their cabs, merlots, or red blends. Ended up signing up for their membership for their solid features.

2nd time wine tasting here, their red wines have really stepped up compared to last time. 2019 caber (Tenmar vineyard) was well rounded and oaky with a mild finish. 2019 single block A-5 & 2020 single block 7 were more bold with an acidic finish. The 2019 hommage cab was rich & refined with a smooth finish devoid of any acidity. Overall wonderful cabs, good ambiance & knowledgeable staff.

Clos Pegase is top notch! The entire staff during my visit here was wonderful but hats off especially to Wes! He was knowledgeable, personable and had a knack for elevating your winery experience. He made the cave tour both informative and exciting. The wine selection for the tasting was great as was the cheese plate. I know for my next trip to Napa, Clos Pegase will be at the top of my list. If you're thinking of visiting you should make it must. The grounds, hospitality and art work really make an impression on you. Cheers!

One of the better wineries in Napa. They have a beautiful landscape and great tasting options. We came in for a cave tasting that came with food pairings. We were given a background on the estate, an overview of the production facility and then we're in the caves. This experience was absolutely fantastic. They kept the group small so it feels intimate. You were also able to sample a few more wines after the experience.

I agree with what another yelped said; the service is friendly but not attentive. I went on Saturday in May around noon, which was not busy. (4-5 other groups the whole time) I don't claim to be someone with a refined wine palette (an amateur, if you will), but it was a fun & relaxing experience. I liked their wines. Choose the outdoor seating when the weather is nice out. Those patio chairs are a lot more comfortable and sturdy than they seem.

An underrated winery that deserves more credit! We had a great tasting experience here. Their menu is curated to include some of the best. Our server was kind enough to let us take our time and even threw in some additional samples.

My sister and brother-in-law took me wine tasting here a couple of weekends ago. They're members at this winery so they had been here prior. The place looks really nice and it's not as crowded as other wineries in the Napa Valley. The wine was delicious, in all honesty I don't know too much about wine but I do love drinking it! The winery staff were all friendly too. It was a super rainy Saturday when we went and my sister and I were not dressed for the weather, their team member was nice enough to let us pass through the building instead of outside, we even got a mini tour of the place. I heard one of the guys from "Shark Tank" is an owner here? Cool winery to check out!

Amazing wine tour of great grounds and impressive wine cave tunnels underneath. They even have a wine cave room for private dining events, concerts and wine tastings! They also have their own bottling room. Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable and their pours were great. The food pairings were complex and tasty as well. They were perfect w the wines chosen. I had a great time and it was by far my favorite tour out of 9 while I was in Napa! I'd go back and high recommend this place!

Day trip to the winery with my sisters. We had an appointment so there was no wait. Our appointment was much later in the day so unsurprisingly there wasn't a lot of people. There wasn't a host when we got there. So we had to walk further in to the winery to look for someone to get seated. I figured it was because our appointment was about an hour before closing. Nevertheless the staff were nice and courteous and happily seated us to our table. We were offered complimentary bottle waters which I thought was really nice. We did the standard wine tasting. I'm not sure if it was because we went much later in the day or it wasn't part of their service, but the wines weren't necessarily explain to us like how a lot of wineries do. Our server wasn't around a lot, so we sometimes had to ask another server to serve us our next wine. We ordered a charcuterie plate which we devoured because we didn't had a lot to eat prior to coming. The charcuterie was good. No complaints there. The plate consists of your typical bite-size snacks like cheese, sliced meat, some fruit. The winery itself was really beautiful. It's a great place to walk around and take Instagram worthy photos. I just think maybe we would've had a better experience if we maybe went earlier in the day, not sure.

One woman made sure everyone knew she was a member and kept mentioning how she had already seen the castle too many times and was bored of it, saying she only came to bring her family for a birthday. It kind of disrupted the experience for the rest of us. When we got to the torture chamber she also started making some really inappropriate remarks, which was a bit uncomfortable for the group. While working in St. Helena, I could never find an opening in a reservation, so here was a great opportunity now that all of us are retired. Our friends live in Clear Lake while we live in Vallejo, so this is a central place to meet. It was the best decision I made because every year for the past several anniversaries, we've gone to Cache Creek to C2. Their food and service is excellent because my husband enjoys poker, but I thought a change of scenery would be nice. And it was! Firstly, it was very kind of the staff to present us with a greeting card signed by everyone -- how sweet and thoughtful! We will cherish that! Secondly, we were very impressed with how the food/wine was locally sourced. It was incredible to hear the story about Custom, the Bull, and taste the difference between the Highland beef compared to Angus. Our waitress was "Erica S." She was engaging, personable, and very informative. My husband and I would definitely like to return to return to experience the dinner menu! We and our guests had the following dishes: Artichoke appetizer Arbororio Biscuits & Gravy Two Cheeseburgers Three Bloody Mary's Farmstead Margarita When they found out it was our anniversary celebration, the house sent over four glasses of complimentary champagne and a dish of dessert -- again, very sweet and kind of them I now understand why so many crowds flock to this restaurant! From the beginning, there seemed to be constant miscommunication between staff. We specifically booked an outdoor reservation and were seated inside instead. While mistakes happen, it set the tone for the rest of the evening. The bigger issue involved the wine and corkage fee. We purchased a bottle directly from the market associated with the restaurant and were told by the employee there that the corkage fee would be waived if we bought their wine. When we sat down, our server Sara told us that was not true and that we would still have to pay the fee. I explained what we had been told, and when she asked if I wanted a manager involved, I said yes. Before the manager even arrived or clarified the situation, the server opened our bottle of wine. In the silence and confusion, I reasonably assumed the fee issue had been resolved. Then the manager came over and told us we would still be charged and implied that nobody at the market would have told us otherwise. The way it was handled made my husband and I feel like we were being accused of making the whole thing up, which was especially upsetting on Mother's Day. At that point, the bottle was already opened, so we were essentially stuck paying the fee regardless. Between being seated incorrectly, the poor communication between employees, and how dismissive the situation felt, the service completely overshadowed what should have been a special meal. The rest of the service we felt ignored and there was minimal effort to accommodate. Great food alone is not enough to justify returning when the hospitality experience feels this frustrating and unprofessional.

The price of the Frank Family bottles were also comparable to Joseph Phelps, but slightly cheaper on average. For that price, I would have expected a better taste. We were able to walk into the grapevine areas and snap some pictures. He gave us all a tour of the inside where they keep the barrels. We really enjoyed the wines and Sam's company. This is the reason why I'm not rating it a 5. We were out front waiting to use the restroom and there was a guy hanging out there. I asked him if he was the owner and he said he was. I'd read reviews about how nice the owner was. But upon meeting him, I did not get the same impression. I let him know how wonderful Sam was and that he's the reason why we returned for a 2nd visit. The owner's mood changed, he stopped making eye contact with me and looked away like he didn't want to hear me praise his employee any further. You would think he'd be like, that's fantastic, I'm so glad you returned, etc. But no. You'd think, as the owner, he'd be super pleased to know that we're a repeat customer because of his employee. But I could tell by his body language that he was bothered by it. I think he's accustomed to other folks praising him, telling him how nice he is, etc. and I didn't, so that stung because pretty quick into the conversation, he took a dig at me for our choice of restaurant we were heading to next. (We loved it the first time, that's why we were going again :) ) It's quite funny because upon arriving to the restaurant, there was a HUGE party (30+ people) seated behind us. All men and dressed really nice! We asked an employee what was going on and he told us they were a bunch of winery owners in the area and their friends celebrating a birthday, oh and the owner of the 49ers was there too ;) So yeah, the crème de la crème was sitting next to us. I guess they didn't invite the owner of Madrigal. Side note, w/the summer time approaching, I'd encourage them to invest in an additional umbrella for the outdoor furniture since there was a party reserved on the deck and they were using all of the umbrellas.
