I wanted to eat outside, so I was looking for restaurants with patios. I was coming from Greenbelt and was on Georgia Avenue when Matchbox popped up as 1 of the suggested restaurants. I've been to other locations, so I decided to try this one as I've never been to this location before. Food- 3 Drink-4 Waitress-2 Ambience-5 Overall -3 Let's start with the food. At first I was disappointed when I saw they took off my favorite appetizer, so I ordered the Cripsy Calamari Appetizer instead. So as I am waiting my waitress had stopped by twice to ask me if I was ready to put in my entree and every-time I had to tell her no as I haven't even gotten my appetizer yet. This rubbed me the wrong, I felt like I was being rushed and that didn't make sense as this was on a Thursday at 1 pm and the restaurant was practically empty. Now the patio seating was lovely and I truly enjoyed basking in the sun while sipping on my Sauvignon Blanc, I have so many memories from DTS and it was nice to be in the area again. Anyways my Appetizer came and it was sooo good. I loved the fried jalapeños in the mix it really gave a nice kick to my Calamari. I decided to order the Shrimp Tempura Roll which is a new addition to the menu but whew this is where it went left. It was NOT good, drenched in sauce and fish eggs ... and the presentation of the roll looked sloppy and rushed especially considering one roll didn't even have Shrimp in it. There was barely any cucumber inside ... on top of all that they still gave me side dippings too... I ate 1 roll and it was nasty and too much. When I told my waitress I didn't like it and explained why she just said ok and walked away. It was very clear to me she did not care and so it's very clear to me that I won't be going there ever again.

This is our first time at this location. Ambience was hopping. Service could be a little better. Food was great for most part. The only dish that we would not get again is cream of crabs. We all absolutely loved the Crispy Brussels. The roasted cauliflower were pretty tasty also. The Grilled chicken and avocado, shrimp and grits, and BBQ Jerk Pizza entrees were all winners.

We went to Matchbox in Silver Spring today for a family brunch. We used to frequent this restaurant regularly over the last couple of years, but hadn't been back in a few months. The vibe has definitely changed. The restaurant was packed, with grass wall and plant decor and a DJ playing music, which gave it more of a trendy, day party feel than the laid-back brunch spot we remembered. They've also shifted to an all-you-can-eat brunch menu on weekends until 4 p.m., priced at $42 per adult and $14 per child. One important thing to note is that you can't take any food to go if you don't finish it. With kids, the pricing and restrictions just didn't make sense for us, so we opted to order individual entrees instead. I ordered the steak and eggs with French toast and a vanilla latte, and everything was good. The kids got cheese pizzas and absolutely loved them, which was a win. The other adults in our group also enjoyed their meals. Overall, the food is still good, but the new brunch format and louder atmosphere may not be ideal for everyone. I went yesterday, which was a Sunday. Because I was told that they had a GJ. I was really looking forward to it. And the DJ definitely was doing a pretty good job lol. Since this is my first time there, I decided to do the all you can eat for $42 in which do you get to try smaller Porsches of everything on the menu. If you're like me and you're coming for the first time that's honestly the best option could you get to try a little bit of everything. They also had a taco bar and a cotton candy bar for the kids lol I really enjoyed every dish. The most rememberable were the shrimp and grits. I really enjoyed the flavor just wished that there was more sausage in it. I also enjoy the waffles with peaches and cream. It was really good the mixture of flavors. I also decided to do the bottomless drinks, which is the best bang for your buck honestly. The drinks actually were good!. Our service was really good too. Our waitress was also the bartender and she was back-and-forth behind the bar doing her thing! She was awesome!

I can't remember the last time I gave five stars to a restaurant on a first visit. I thought I had been here before, but once I arrived, I realized I hadn't. I came for brunch this past Sunday for my best friend's birthday, and I'm so glad she picked this spot! The food was amazing. Service could've been better since they were slow with water and clearing tables but the food more than made up for it. They offer unlimited brunch with shareable plates. I ordered the shrimp and grits and loved that it came with turkey sausage and no pork. It wasn't as hot as I like, but still delicious. The peaches and cream waffles were very indulgent. Ask for toppings on the side or they'll get soggy. I still enjoyed them so much I had to stop myself from finishing the whole thing. The breakfast potatoes were great with fresh onions and peppers and a perfect crunch. I also tried the lemon blueberry pancakes after eyeing another's plate. I asked for toppings on the side and was glad I did because the top pancake was crispy and amazing on its own. The warm maple butter was so good I wanted to dip everything in it. I went with tea, but they have a big drink menu including a mimosa tower, which my friend got. A DJ was playing, people were dancing, and the vibe was perfect. I definitely want to come back. I was full but still wanted to try more. Just don't drink too much water or overdo it on the carbs too avoid my mistake but enjoy yourself to the fullest.

Always enjoy the pizza and drinks at Matchbox but came for weekend brunch for the first time. If you're looking for a decently priced brunch with lots of food options this is a place worth checking out. They also offer strawberry lemon drops and espresso martini as a bottomless options in addition to mimosas.

I don't know where to start with this location. The outdoor seating overlooking the downtown area. The DJ inside setting the Sunday brunch mood with old school R&B. Wait, I know. It's the unlimited brunch by far. Our server told us to go crazy and that's exactly what we did. We kept asking just to make sure, but yes, you can order EVERYTHING on the brunch menu as many times as you want for 2 hours. All for a mind blowing price of $38 per person. You want an unlimited mimosa, lemon drop or espresso martini? $25 per person! The quality you receive at such an astounding price is unmatched here. Now for the food. The hits: Blueberry Lemon Pancakes Seafood Scramble Shrimp and Grits Peaches and Cream Pepperoni Pizza Old Bay Wings Strawberry Lemon Drop Martini Could have been better, needed seasoning: Catfish and Grits Fried Chicken Stuffed French Toast was amazing flavor wise, but the bread was too hard on the edges. Mini burgers were more bread than burger, but the meat was cooked well. I can't speak for other locations, but Silver Spring has set the standard for me.

If you were looking for confirmation on where to go for brunch, you've found your review. Unlimited Brunch At Matchbox in Downtown Silver Spring (that's where I went, but there's other locations that have brunch as well). This was my second time in a month going for brunch because it is SO WORTH IT. The DJ was phenomenal, Leayrohn played the best brunch music, people were dancing through the doors, I even got his IG before I left. Bairon our waiter was just as attentive and cool as ever, a really great example of what customer service should look like. My son was with me, who is graduating in 2 weeks and he really enjoyed our brunch date. I met both managers, Ty and Jim when Bairon told me that the patio area could be reserved for large parties, I had to find out more because a graduation brunch would be wonderful. Both managers provided me with information and let me know I could contact them with any further questions regarding large party reservations. Not only is the area nice, but DTSS is really a great place for a day/ night out. The patio area is nice in general, but so is the entire restaurant. It's just a wonderful place for casual dining. Now to the brunch The food was AMAZING!! I cannot stop talking about it and recommending visiting for the brunch deal. Make sure you have reservations because space does fill up fast. The stuffed French toast is delicious and the variations of dishes with grits are great! They also have a little section with popcorn and cotton candy which is such a cute touch. Here is what we ordered: * Catfish & grits * Shrimp & grits * Chicken & Waffles * Stuffed French Toast * 3.6.9 Burgers * Chicken Wings * Blueberry Lemon Pancakes * Chicken Fettuccine * Pizza * Espresso Martini * Strawberry Margarita $38 per person $14 for kids under 10 There is ample parking in downtown silver spring via parking garages which are meter based payment. It's a very nice area for dining at anytime. I will be having brunch again at Matchbox.

My first brunch at Matchbox was a great experience. The service was great and its a very spacious venue. The peach waffle and the French Toast were both delicious. I'd easily come back for those two items alone. The seafood scramble left a lot to be desired flavor wise and I definitely would not order or recommend that. While I didnt taste the shrimp and grits, they looked good and my friend really enjoyed it. The wings were good, it's all you can eat so just order more if you want more. The size was perfect for me because I only wanted to taste them. The waffle and taco bar didn't look bad, but the menu items sounded better so we stuck with them. All in all, I will definitely go back and add this brunch to the rotation.

Amazing Experience! I had an incredible time here! The food truly over-delivered. The buffalo wings were the perfect size -- not those huge hormonal wings other places serve -- and every dish was just as impressive. The chicken and waffles, beef sliders, pepperoni pizza with pepperoni cups, and shrimp and grits were all delicious. The chicken Alfredo, even though it was tomato-based, was seasoned beautifully. The steak and eggs with potatoes were cooked and seasoned to perfection. The drinks were excellent as well. The strawberry lemon drop, old fashioned, and margarita were all on point, and the all-you-can-drink add-on was definitely worth it -- the drinks had the right amount of alcohol and weren't watered down at all. The service was just as amazing as the food. Our server NuNu was patient, efficient, and truly outstanding. Jake also checked in on us and made the experience even better. The cotton candy dessert was such a fun touch! I was too full to try the taco bar, but it looked really good. I will absolutely recommend this place a thousand times and will definitely be back!

We had dinner at Matchbox on a Friday night. Overall, the restaurant was about half full. We waited about 10 minutes for the waiter to ask take our drink order. Very pleasant person. But after that, the service was really slow. We got margaritas and they were terrible! No salt, no flavor.... It seemed like something was missing. After another 20 minutes, our appetizer finally arrived at the same time as our entrees. It was clear that our appetizer had been sitting somewhere and everything was served at the same time. The food was tasty. The apple pear salad was flavorful and our pizza was pretty good. Overall- I'd give Matchbox a "meh" rating. We will try other places when visiting downtown Silver Spring.

Unmatched! Period. This is the 2nd Matchbox I've been to for Sunday Brunch. This place was better than the other one. Why? Service: quicker, waiter was nicer and very accommodating. Ambiance: the DJ had the place LIVE!!! He was a WHOLE VIBE and played a variety of old and new school from different genres: Go-Go, Hip-hop, R&B, and Afrobeats. The energy in the building was a lot of fun with people dancing in the aisles, the DJ showing his moves etc... FOOD: we ordered a variety from the extensive brunch menu. The food at this location taste better than the other location. They had more options and actually brought out our food (the waiter at the other place kept forgetting to submit our order). They also serve popcorn and cotton candy here. I truly enjoyed the blueberry pancakes, chicken and waffle, stuffed French Toast, sliders, and wings. However, at times, the staff kept delivering our food to the wrong tables. It was irritating...a better system needs to be in place. Overall, the brunch at Matchbox Silver Spring was 10/10.

It was my first time eating at matchbox and I had such a pleasant experience! This is a great addition to downtown Silver Spring. We were about fifteen minutes late for our reservation but we grabbed a drink at the bar. The bar is really cute and not overly cluttered with libations. We had wine and beer. The cabernet is pretty good. I give five stars for service and a four stars for the pizza. Thanks to Kyle for the awesome service with updates on our food as well as his quest to find my boyfriend's missing credit card which he left back at the bar. I had the signature fire and smoke pizza and loved the chipotle spice and flavor. A ten inch pizza was pretty filling. Order a 14 inch if you plan to share a pie. My boyfriend enjoyed his burger. It was opening night so we sampled a classic cheese pizza sample and it was good. I was not like "omg this is amazing," but it's a solid pizza. I also thought to myself that I'll definitely come back since the menu has a lot of different items besides pizza. The jalapeno margarita looked really good and I'd like to try it next time. I recommend coming here if you want to have a nice sit down experience. They have an outdoor patio to enjoy during warmer days and happy hour specials too I believe. Our experience ended on a good note. I joined the rewards program so I can get a free pizza on my birthday and $10 off after I spend $125. read more

The place I wanted to love. We stopped by to enjoy the recent collaboration between Milk Honey and matchbox. During this period we had over 3 waiters in the course of 30 hours. Each one we had to explain our request. It seems the reason for the shift in waiters was due to low staff due to covid. I ordered the crab hash dish. There was barely any crab on the dish. I would have this back but waited over 45 minutes for the food. In addition we did have to send our appetizer dynamite shrimp sauce back. It had been sitting in the kitchen for a while so it had a darker harder surface. Appetizers need to appear before the main meal. read more

So I've been to the Rockville location of Matchbox before and I really wanted to like that one...but didn't. That may explain my low expectations for this outing but I have to admit I was surprised. Granted, I was there early for lunch (1130) but the greeting was pleasant and I was quickly seated. I think the wait staff are still trying to figure out stations so I'll give them a pass for the wait before my waiter showed up. That said, he was engaging and pleasant and had a good handle on the menu. I went with the filet mignon because I was intrigued by "the secret" butter (shhh...on the old menu they called it "herb butter"). The steak was cooked perfectly to my order and the grilled asparagus was equally lovely. I was in and out of there in about 35 minutes so that's a definite plus for those considering it as a work lunch locale. I'll most likely go back and see how their salmon is but for now I'd definitely categorize this place as a safe bet for lunch. read more

I feel like I got robbed last night. I got there at around 8:15pm, and ordered a bottomless mimosa. I was only there 45 minutes, only had one bottle of champagne, yet I still got charged two bottomless mimosas totalling $50. I asked if I could just be charged for the one bottle. They said no. I understand what I ordered, but I do think I was overcharged for it given the fact that I didn't even get to sit there long enough to enjoy it all. The food was good though and so was the service overall. I just think a bit more understanding would've been nice. read more

Went for happy hour and enjoyed it. The meat pizza was good and came out hot. From the drinks menu we tried the strawberry lemonade and the mai tai drink. They were strong and h preferred the lemonade. It was a convenient place to go in silver spring and would return! read more

Very nice experience going In for carry out even with pandemic concerns. Ordered from the bar. Bartender masked and freshly gloved made me feel comfortable and at ease. As other customers left inside the tables were sprayed, and wiped down immediately. My carry out (burger and salad) was consumed an hour after leaving the restaurant. Very happy with the quality. The staff is very welcoming. There is a large selection of food at brunch - a brunch menu as well as their regular menu. The food was very good - large portions. I took half of my pancakes home. Coffee comes in mugs and then pots of coffee are brought to the table. I think the prices are reasonable for brunch in downtown Silver Spring. read more

I've eaten hear several times for lunch. There's a good menu selection and everything I've tried has been wonderful. This last time I had the BBQ Salmon salad and it was really amazing - perfectly cooked salmon and very tasty. The outdoor seating is nice especially because it's situated on a closed, pedestrian-only street so it's a great way to people watch. Sometimes the lunch service is a bit slow but overall that's not a bad thing. I will continue to eat here when the opportunity presents itself. read more

Located in downtown silver spring with plenty of happy hours to choose from. So, hop around if you want. I Enjoyed this establishment during happy hour from 3pm-6pm. They have a BOP so I recommend the margarita pizza on the happy hour menu. There is so much more to enjoy on the menu. The happy hour drinks were interesting and full of flavor not too strong but you can taste the alcohol. Very nice place with indoor and outdoor seating. Staff was very welcoming and pleasant. Food was wonderful.. everything we ordered was great. Service was horrible. It was not busy, and I had to have another server find my waitress to get something to drink. We even had to ask for water, something that should have been given to us we sat down. I should have known service was going to be bad when we waited 8mins for someone to even come to our table. I would go back and pray for better service. read more

Great tasting pizza but was surprised to be brought and then billed for bottled water when we requested tap water. This was quite unfortunate because the pizza itself was very good - I split a chicken pesto pizza with a friend and was very satisfied. However not only did we not ask for bottled water but it turned out to be very expensive (I think $7 or $8 for a big bottle) so this felt like a bit of a ripoff. I'm not someone to make a scene over a few dollars but doubt I'll be going back here even though the pizza was quite good. read more

Advice: * Come here for brunch. You must. * Place a reservation in advance. They rarely have space for walk ups during brunch time. * Park across the street in the garage. It is free on Sundays. I ordered the All American Breakfast. This includes 3 eggs, brunch potatoes, challah french toast, and your choice of bacon or chicken sausage. I did the chicken sausage and egg whites. De. Lish. Shus. We also had a side of grits....baybee! Yes. And yes again. I loved getting a full breakfast of goodness for less than $20. If you drink alcohol, order the Bottomless Mimosa ($25). This is not a request, but a command. Here's how it works * You will receive a bottle of Wycliff Brut champagne to drink at your leisure. The champagne alone is a good crisp quality. When it runs low, they bring you another bottle of wine. When that runs low...you get the gist. * In small decanters they provide you your juice of choice. I asked for peach, pineapple, grapefruit, and cranberry juice individually. The peach juice....thats the one. First place prize. If you are a grapefruit drinker, you will love their ruby red juice. John was our waiter and we tipped him handsomely. He never rushed us, was attentive to our needs, and was so amiable. Side Note: We were there for 3 hours. I have no idea how that happened. I've had some hits and some misses here. The good news is the food and the drinks usually hit. The only think I've ever regretted getting was the fig and prosciutto pizza, which was surprising. It seems to be highly recommended, so I expected more. My wife adores their apple and pear salad and I've been happy with my food selections. Came here for a random date night with bae. We had Cameron as our waiter. He was super nice and able to offer suggestions on drinks and food options. We both ordered pizza, I added chicken and mushrooms. They have many meat and veggie options. Bae order a spinach pepperoni and chicken pizza. Because it was his first time they brought out this amazing dish! It was two risotto balls breaded mozzarella served with steamed tomatoes. Yum! It is national Margarita day so we got Margaritas. Stopped in for a quick bite with one of my good friends and we weren't disappointed. The restaurant is centrally located if you're in downtown silver spring with indoor and outdoor seating (when the weather permits). We were there on a Saturday evening and there was plenty of space for us to sit wherever we wanted. Key things I appreciated about Matchbox: - great location if you're in the downtown silver spring area - ample seating - very chill bartender (I think his name was Sam) - quick delivery of food - FRIES WERE SO GOOD! (Fries are my weakness so excuse while I dote on these a bit.) - my friend loved her meal as well and it was enough for her to take home and have for lunch the next day. - portions were generous - solid options for vegetarians and pescatarians - they have a cauliflower crust pizza (very progressive) and beyond sausage pizza (very hipster Ish). My first time visiting Matchbox was yesterday on a Friday evening. We arrived at 5:45p to grab a bite to eat and drinks before our 7p movie. Upon arrival the establishment was not packed at all. Plenty of open seating. We found a high top table in the bar area. Upon sitting down, our bartender quickly greeted us and gave us glasses of water and disappeared. LITERALLY. We sat for 15 minutes and no one ever came back to take our orders. We noticed a hostess walking by (Employees in red shirts) and we informed her of our issue. She quickly apologized and said she would get someone to come over. No one came. We are looking around and while the tables at the restaurant is getting more patrons, the bar was still pretty manageable. (still unoccupied seats) We notice that out of the three bartenders working, only one bartender was taking table orders in the bar area. The other two bartenders never left and spent more time watching the mounted television than watching the bar seating area (you know, to maybe see our hands raised signaling we needed assistance). We finally catch a table-area waitress walking by (employee in black shirt) and asked her if she would please take our order. She tells us that the bartenders are responsible for the bar area but she would take our orders for us. She takes our order and we watch her go over to the bar, speak to the bartender and place or order. Finally we receive our drinks. Maybe things will get better we thought. Wrong! After another 25 minutes, we notice that a couple who came in after us, not only received their meals, they were cashing out! We STILL at that point did not receive our food. We found another table-area waitress, tell her our issue, and finally our food comes out. We not have about 10 min to eat. Although the food looks good from the pic, they were cold. The beef sliders were cold and the spinach dip was luke warm. Because we were starving, we ate what we could. Upon cashing out we informed the bartender of everything that transpired and, to be honest, he could have cared less of our experience. Not an apology, nor even a simple care of concern. I would not recommend anyone to visit here. It was the worst experience. Quite honestly, we could have went to the concession stand at the movies and had better service and a meal. read more

This is just for HH. The Happy hour menu is great and I plan on coming back often. I have been planning on going since they opened. This use to be a chicken restaurant that failed and for good reason. I hope Matchbox sticks around for some time. The atmosphere was nice and the food was good. I really like the fact that you can do HH anywhere in the restaurant. I hate establishments that don't allow HH throughout because it pigeon holes people who may not like to eat at the bar. Anyway let me step down off my HH soapbox and tell you about the food. I met a couple of guys here and they ordered mini burgers and a pizza. They enjoyed there food. I ordered the Matchbox pizza, two types of wings, and the calamari. I just picked off the calamari because it was mainly tentacles and I like the rings. The jelly sauce was unique and noteworthy. I may have to try it again. The wings were good. The pizza was the best item. I only tried one slice, but I can tell you this...I won't always be on Keto and I could have easily killed that whole baby pizza. OMG - the service was insanely slow. We sat by ourselves without water for about 15 minutes and every interaction was just as slow. We had actually been here a week before (and my pizza sucked so bad I will never get another there) and our waiter from the previous week served the table next to us two or three times as fast as ours for every transaction. I came here once before & had no issues and a great meal! Tonight I ordered to go I specifically mentioned about 2-3 maybe even 4 times no shrimp or sausage for special dietary restrictions/religion beliefs and payed an up charge for salmon instead & when I got there, not only was one entree missing from the order (so we had to wait for it to be cooked) the guy didn't listen to any specifications that I emphasized then when I get home I come to find out that there's sausage and shrimp! This restaurant used to have one in Rockville as well. The food was pretty good with a wide range of things to please most everyone. Their mixed drinks were a lackluster, boring, and would only get a C+ at best. Their wine selections were better but more expensive. The desserts were delicious and easily serve two people. Service was good and the servers were very nice as well. Ambiance was good though rather noisy. Our party of 5 has an enjoyable time. Their prices are a tad more expensive. read more

I hope management takes customer service more seriously, especially for people reaching out for the first time.

I want to hope it's a bad day but who knows. I would try again if I was in the area but would definitely not go out of my way given the parking plus the issues above. Okay, not Great.

Total (not including tip) came out to approximately $49. What's Hot - Menu. Excellent. It's also written in Chinese in addition to English. For those of us familiar with traditional ethnic Chinese food, a menu written in Chinese is a good sign. They have traditional Taiwanese and Chinese food like scallion pancakes, sesame balls, beef noodle soup, soup dumplings, etc... Very good variety and there appears to be something for everyone, possibly with the exception of vegan dishes.. - Quality. Pretty good. Their scallion pancake was soft, not too oily, and not too salty. I prefer the scallion pancake to have been a bit more thick and flaky, but that's my personal preference. To be fair, still delicious. Their chive and pork dumplings definitely had a delicious chive flavor. Substantial and the wrapper was not too thick. Their spicy sesame paste tofu had a good flavor and substantive. The chili oil wontons were not too spicy and had a good flavor. Again, my personal preference would have been for the dumplings to have been more substantive, but still pretty decent. - Service. Pretty good. It appears most, if not all their staffers, speak Chinese (Mandarin), which was also helpful, because I specifically ordered in Chinese. I asked them about the spice level, because I wanted to ensure it would not be too spicy for my friend. - Price. Pretty good value for menu and portions. - Location. It's pretty easy to find. Also within convenient walking distance to the Silver Spring metro. The inside space is pretty good. Tables can seat a minimum of 2, all the way up to 8. What's Not - Quality. The sesame balls are smaller than I expected. They're the rough approximation of a ping pong ball, maybe smaller. I was disappointed, because I like sesame balls that are substantial. - Service. I specifically asked for soup spoons, because we were eating dumplings. Instead, they gave me regular spoons. Not all the dishes come out in the order you hope. For example, main dishes may come out before the appetizers. This is going to be dependent on your personal preference. - Parking. There is parking near the restaurant, but it's going to be dependent on the day and time. Final Answer Worth coming back.

I decided to do take out order for tandoori chicken a few nights ago for dinner. I got home and was not happy with the skimpy portion. It came with a side of white rice. My other go to Indian spot, their tandoori chicken comes with dhal and much cheaper! For the price they charge here, it was not worth it. The food tasted ok. The service was fine and the place was nice. I just don't see myself in a rush to try them again.

My wife and I celebrated our 16 year wedding anniversary decided to go to our favorite restaurant, Matchbox. We normally frequent the Rockville location but since Silver Spring is in our back yard we decided to give it a go. We noticed they had entree's not typical of a pizza joint. Steak, Ribs, Fried Chicken. The Lobster Roll caught my wife's eye. Having grown up in Maine and eating lobster rolls often in the city (Lukes Lobster) and at National Harbor (Mason's Famous Lobster Rolls), we are accustomed to high prices for one of these tasty treats. Price on the menu was market price. Lobster roll had very little Lobster meat compared with others that we normally get. Mason's for example touts "we'll fill it with meat from an entire, 1 ¼-pound Maine lobster - including the tail.". However at Matchbox after speaking with a manager he said their rolls only come with 4oz of Lobster Meat. The bill came back at $32, they claimed that was fair market price. However for most lobster rolls we get its 3-4 times the meat at 1/2 the price. Buyer beware. $32 for 4oz is equivalent to $124 per pound. Even with shipping and overhead thats a little outrageous. I normally do not order anything but Pizza and that is amazing and for that I will remain a loyal customer, but I will never venture far from that Pizza menu again. Beware of their entree menu the pricing is not clear nor a fair value. read more

As an out-of-town visitor, I have enjoyed dining at your location many times in the past without issue, but unfortunately, my most recent visit was a disappointing one. During my visit, I was informed of a new $35 unlimited brunch promotion. Although I specifically told the server that I did not wish to participate in the offer and simply wanted to have a regular breakfast, I was still charged the full $35 per person. Upon reviewing the bill, which totaled $80.00, I was informed by management that the charge is mandatory for all guests, regardless of participation in the promotion. This unexpected and uncommunicated policy left me frustrated, as it felt like a new tactic designed to increase revenue rather than focusing on the customer experience. I had hoped for a straightforward, enjoyable meal, but this situation has made me reconsider returning. I wanted to bring this to your attention, as it significantly impacted my perception of the restaurant. I've been a huge fan of matchbox for years and have been to multiple locations. This new location in silver spring is....meh. First of all, the decor of this place is super weird and off. It doesn't look like any matchbox I've been to...maybe this one is a franchise or under new ownership. The first thing you see when you walk in is a sad looking flag on the wall. Tacky. It's also smaller than the other restaurants I've been to so you can see the whole space from the front doors. There are so matchboxes in the tables like the other ones! That was one of the coolest things about matchbox! They should've stuck with the original interior decorators- this location is not cozy or welcoming as the other ones. Anyways, the food at this location was also not that great l. The pizzas didn't taste as good and I got the matchbox meat...how can you mess that up?! The service sucked. I waited for my drink for so long that the food came out before. The only reason I'm giving it 2 stars instead of 1 is because I still love matchbox in general. I'm just going to stick with going to the rockville or dc locations. read more

I was stuck to go to this place because I was meeting a friend there, but yet again, I was proven right when I tend to avoid ALL restaurants at all costs. They were already a rip-off BEFORE COVID. Afterwards, they got even worse -- providing the least amount of food for the most amount of $$. I was there for lunch. I ordered the "butternut squash salad" and walked away seriously HUNGRY! There wasn't one piece of chicken in this salad. NOT ONE! All that was there was some romaine lettuce, four (4) incredibly TINY "candied pecans," and four literally MICROSCOPIC dots of butternut squash. And "apples?" There were two (2) thinner-than-paper half-inch long shreds of apple! I counted two tiny dots of feta cheese. Do you know how much salad items I can buy in the grocery for the rip-off cost of $18 that this pack of thieves charged for this? A WHOLE lot, THAT's how much! Never again! read more

Matchbox in Silver Spring is hands down one of my favorite spots! The food is always fresh, flavorful, and served hot. Whether it's the wood-fired pizzas, mini burgers, or the brunch menu, everything hits the spot. The atmosphere is inviting--perfect for everything from a casual lunch to a night out. What really makes this location stand out is the service. Robert, the manager, goes above and beyond to make sure every guest feels welcomed and taken care of. He's friendly, attentive, and genuinely cares about the customer experience. You can tell he leads by example because the entire staff is just as professional and kind. My friend and I visited Matchbox yesterday and it was amazing. The bottomless brunch for $28 is well worth it. The shrimp and grits are my favorite as well as the chicken and waffles. What made are experience even more better was our waiter Ben K. He was very nice and upbeat. Our food came out in a timely manner. We never had to ask for condiments and or napkins. Ben was always 10 steps ahead, he made sure we had the best service no matter how busy he was. Ben always had a smile and made sure our experience at Matchbox was PERFECT. I recommend going to Matchbox for there amazing bottomless brunch as well as requesting Ben K. as your waiter because you will have a great time. read more

I went there with my kids after a long day of holiday shopping. we all enjoyed our food, but the service was so far above and beyond that I had to come write a review. Mike, aka Batman, took care of us and after providing stellar service all night, he treated us to a. whole magic show after our check came. My kids and I were completely captivated and ended up staying an extra 20 minutes just to see what he was going to do next. We had come into matchbox and were put on a waitlist which is not surprising as it was a Friday evening. After waiting for about 30-45min we were starting to get a little annoyed but as soon as we were seated we were greeted by a warm welcome from our server, Kim. Immediately our moods improved. Big shoutout to Kim for recommending the honey pie punch ( to die for!!) the meal was fantastic as well. Dined at the pizza bar last night with my two kids. They had their first taste of calamari and loved it. We loved our server, Kim.
