Had an amazing Saturday brunch at Matchbox Silver Spring with three friends, and the entire experience was exactly what we were looking for--a relaxed afternoon, great food, good laughs, and an all-around great time. The food was excellent, but what really made our experience stand out was our server, Alex. The service was exceptional from beginning to end. Alex was attentive, friendly, personable, and seemed to know exactly when we needed something without ever making us feel rushed or interrupted. That kind of service can completely change a dining experience, and Alex absolutely elevated ours. We came in simply looking to enjoy brunch together, and we left talking about what a great time we had. Came to this location for the first time with a couple of other friends. Hubby and I ordered the unlimited breakfast with unlimited drinks, and the shrimp and grits with a dragon fruit mojito. Total came to approximately $102 (not including tip). What's hot - Menu. For a brunch menu, pretty reasonable, although there are some things lacking, which I address below. Their appetizers include breakfast items, like cinnamon rolls and biscuits. There are also lunch items like burger sliders and chicken wings. - Quality. Pretty delicious. My shrimp and grits are well seasoned and not too salty. Their drinks are very flavorful and not too sweet. From the items my husband ordered from the unlimited brunch, he liked the steak and eggs, fig and prosciutto pizza, biscuits, mini burgers, cinnamon bun, and French toast (in that order). - Price. Fairly reasonable. Their unlimited brunch is $34, which allows you to order multiple items on their menu. The staffer assigned to our table informed us we can order 2 items per order and the entire table has to order their unlimited brunch. Only my husband wanted the unlimited brunch, so the staffer had to ask the manager if that would be possible. Additionally, when you order their unlimited brunch option, be prepared for a half portion, rather than the full portion. - Location. Good location with many options available, like the movie theatre, shops, and other restaurants. - Seating. They do not appear able to accommodate large groups more than 4. I also recommend making reservations. - Service. Fairly good. The staffer checked in on us fairly regularly, but they do not appear well-staffed, especially when it's busy. We definitely had to wait a fair amount of time in between orders for my husband's unlimited brunch. What's not - Acoustics. They play loud music, which makes it very difficult to have a conversation with anyone in your group. The layout does not absorb sound well, so the music is a big detractor. Our group definitely noticed it and did not appreciate it at all. - Menu. Our reservation was for 11:30am, which is peak brunch time. However, I was hoping to also be provided their lunch menu, which they did not provide. Their brunch menu does not have as many breakfast options, which is disappointing. For example, there are no omelettes and not many egg options. - Parking. There are options for parking, but be prepared to pay for parking, because this is a busy location. There are some places with free parking, but just be prepared to spend time looking for parking. You really can't go wrong with a happy hour here!!! The ambiance of the place was really nice! The music was chill and we had the World Cup on the screen so it was very entertaining to have that playing while conversing with friends. Jason was amazing! He was so sweet at the bar and catered to whatever my friends and I requested. He was also very quick to bring out the drinks and food requested. We got a lot of food and I honestly forgot to grab some pictures because we ate them up so quickly! The calamari and the sticky pork ribs stole the show most definitely! The margarita and hot honey pepperoni pizza was also very delicious. The chicken pesto wasn't my favorite to be honest I've just had better pesto in the past. The California roll and the shrimp tempura rolls weren't that good in my opinion it just didn't have that authentic taste. The espresso martini was great! This is my go to neighborhood spot for chilling out since they first ever opened in DTSS. Been through many changes of staff and menus over these years, but I always find it to be awesome! Met the new bartender, Moose, who is epic! Super friendly atmosphere. Only one issue over the many years and that is my favorite dish, Miso Salmon, disappeared for years and then to my huge surprise it came back and was just as delicious but then sadly very shortly after its return, the dish changed. I've been to other locations, so I decided to try this one as I've never been to this location before. Food- 3 Drink-4 Waitress-2 Ambience-5 Overall -3 Let's start with the food. At first I was disappointed when I saw they took off my favorite appetizer, so I ordered the Cripsy Calamari Appetizer instead. So as I am waiting my waitress had stopped by twice to ask me if I was ready to put in my entree and every-time I had to tell her no as I haven't even gotten my appetizer yet. This rubbed me the wrong, I felt like I was being rushed and that didn't make sense as this was on a Thursday at 1 pm and the restaurant was practically empty. Now the patio seating was lovely and I truly enjoyed basking in the sun while sipping on my Sauvignon Blanc, I have so many memories from DTS and it was nice to be in the area again. Anyways my Appetizer came and it was sooo good. I loved the fried jalapeños in the mix it really gave a nice kick to my Calamari. I decided to order the Shrimp Tempura Roll which is a new addition to the menu but whew this is where it went left. It was NOT good, drenched in sauce and fish eggs ... and the presentation of the roll looked sloppy and rushed especially considering one roll didn't even have Shrimp in it. There was barely any cucumber inside ... on top of all that they still gave me side dippings too... I ate 1 roll and it was nasty and too much. When I told my waitress I didn't like it and explained why she just said ok and walked away. My husband and I stopped by for their Brunch yesterday and it was so worth it! My type of vibe, a live dj, and bottomless mimosas for $25. I got the catfish and grits and we got a pepperoni pizza. The food was delicious. They also offer a brunch buffet that has lots of options including a waffle station but I wasn't in the mood for that so maybe I'll check that out next time. The restaurant itself is nice, and spacious, the ambiance is a cool little vibe for a date or to bring your friends. My only reason for not giving them 5 stars is because of the bartender. We went to Matchbox in Silver Spring today for a family brunch. We used to frequent this restaurant regularly over the last couple of years, but hadn't been back in a few months. The vibe has definitely changed. The restaurant was packed, with grass wall and plant decor and a DJ playing music, which gave it more of a trendy, day party feel than the laid-back brunch spot we remembered. They've also shifted to an all-you-can-eat brunch menu on weekends until 4 p.m., priced at $42 per adult and $14 per child. One important thing to note is that you can't take any food to go if you don't finish it. With kids, the pricing and restrictions just didn't make sense for us, so we opted to order individual entrees instead. I ordered the steak and eggs with French toast and a vanilla latte, and everything was good. The kids got cheese pizzas and absolutely loved them, which was a win. She gave us the option of inside or patio seating, but we opted for the bar--seemed like the quickest move at the time. Now here's where things started to wobble a bit. We couldn't sit at any of the high tops because they all needed to be wiped down. When I asked about it, I was told the busser would get to it...eventually. No sense of urgency, no teamwork, no quick "let me take care of that for you." Just vibes. And not the good kind. So, bar it is. The bartender was pleasant enough and took our drink orders. I took a minute to look over the menu and landed on a dragon fruit lemonade, paired with the apple pear salad topped with salmon. Let me be clear: Food? On point. Drink? Tasty. No complaints there. But the experience around me? Not so much. Because those high tops never got wiped down, I was stuck sitting closer than I wanted to other guests, fully tuned into conversations I definitely didn't come to hear. Ambiance matters--and this wasn't it. Now let's talk about the real issue: the lemonade. At no point was it communicated--on the menu or verbally--that this dragon fruit lemonade was not a free-refill situation. Instead, it's $5 per serving. That's something you tell people upfront. Not after the fact when the bill drops. And when I asked about it? The response was just, "that's our house lemonade." ...Okay? And? That doesn't answer the question. Transparency goes a long way. Give people the information so they can make a choice--don't hit them with a surprise at the end. Oh--and just to close the loop--the high top tables? Still dirty when we left. I can't remember the last time I gave five stars to a restaurant on a first visit. I thought I had been here before, but once I arrived, I realized I hadn't. I came for brunch this past Sunday for my best friend's birthday, and I'm so glad she picked this spot! The food was amazing. Service could've been better since they were slow with water and clearing tables but the food more than made up for it. They offer unlimited brunch with shareable plates. I ordered the shrimp and grits and loved that it came with turkey sausage and no pork. It wasn't as hot as I like, but still delicious. The peaches and cream waffles were very indulgent. Ask for toppings on the side or they'll get soggy. I still enjoyed them so much I had to stop myself from finishing the whole thing. The breakfast potatoes were great with fresh onions and peppers and a perfect crunch. I also tried the lemon blueberry pancakes after eyeing another's plate. I asked for toppings on the side and was glad I did because the top pancake was crispy and amazing on its own. The warm maple butter was so good I wanted to dip everything in it. Thats reasonable, however she did not advise us that all fried foods will take over an hour while the rest of the offerings came in a timely fashion. Fried chicken sandwich (Nashville Hot / took over 90 minutes to arrive): 1/5 - Not at all spicy, the "hot" sauce was served on the side and was milder than green Tabasco. The chicken was very thin, unseasoned, and disappointing on all levels. My score is based on the food alone, not the wait. Unlimited Brunch At Matchbox in Downtown Silver Spring (that's where I went, but there's other locations that have brunch as well). This was my second time in a month going for brunch because it is SO WORTH IT. Bairon our waiter was just as attentive and cool as ever, a really great example of what customer service should look like. My son was with me, who is graduating in 2 weeks and he really enjoyed our brunch date. I met both managers, Ty and Jim when Bairon told me that the patio area could be reserved for large parties, I had to find out more because a graduation brunch would be wonderful. Both managers provided me with information and let me know I could contact them with any further questions regarding large party reservations. Not only is the area nice, but DTSS is really a great place for a day/ night out. The patio area is nice in general, but so is the entire restaurant. It's just a wonderful place for casual dining. Now to the brunch The food was AMAZING!! I cannot stop talking about it and recommending visiting for the brunch deal. Make sure you have reservations because space does fill up fast. The stuffed French toast is delicious and the variations of dishes with grits are great! They also have a little section with popcorn and cotton candy which is such a cute touch. My first brunch at Matchbox was a great experience. The service was great and its a very spacious venue. The peach waffle and the French Toast were both delicious. I'd easily come back for those two items alone. The seafood scramble left a lot to be desired flavor wise and I definitely would not order or recommend that. While I didnt taste the shrimp and grits, they looked good and my friend really enjoyed it. The wings were good, it's all you can eat so just order more if you want more. The size was perfect for me because I only wanted to taste them. The waffle and taco bar didn't look bad, but the menu items sounded better so we stuck with them. I went yesterday, which was a Sunday. Because I was told that they had a GJ. I was really looking forward to it. And the DJ definitely was doing a pretty good job lol. Since this is my first time there, I decided to do the all you can eat for $42 in which do you get to try smaller Porsches of everything on the menu. If you're like me and you're coming for the first time that's honestly the best option could you get to try a little bit of everything. They also had a taco bar and a cotton candy bar for the kids lol I really enjoyed every dish. The most rememberable were the shrimp and grits. I really enjoyed the flavor just wished that there was more sausage in it. I also enjoy the waffles with peaches and cream. It was really good the mixture of flavors. Amazing Experience! I had an incredible time here! The food truly over-delivered. The buffalo wings were the perfect size -- not those huge hormonal wings other places serve -- and every dish was just as impressive. The chicken and waffles, beef sliders, pepperoni pizza with pepperoni cups, and shrimp and grits were all delicious. The chicken Alfredo, even though it was tomato-based, was seasoned beautifully. The steak and eggs with potatoes were cooked and seasoned to perfection. The drinks were excellent as well. The strawberry lemon drop, old fashioned, and margarita were all on point, and the all-you-can-drink add-on was definitely worth it -- the drinks had the right amount of alcohol and weren't watered down at all. We had dinner at Matchbox on a Friday night. Overall, the restaurant was about half full. We waited about 10 minutes for the waiter to ask take our drink order. Very pleasant person. But after that, the service was really slow. We got margaritas and they were terrible! No salt, no flavor.... It seemed like something was missing. After another 20 minutes, our appetizer finally arrived at the same time as our entrees. It was clear that our appetizer had been sitting somewhere and everything was served at the same time. Unmatched! Period. This is the 2nd Matchbox I've been to for Sunday Brunch. This place was better than the other one. Why? Service: quicker, waiter was nicer and very accommodating. Ambiance: the DJ had the place LIVE!!! He was a WHOLE VIBE and played a variety of old and new school from different genres: Go-Go, Hip-hop, R&B, and Afrobeats. The food at this location taste better than the other location. They had more options and actually brought out our food (the waiter at the other place kept forgetting to submit our order). The food was very good, but unfortunately the overall experience was impacted by inconsistent service. We arrived for our 9:30 brunch reservation and immediately ordered biscuits and pancakes, only to learn the blueberry pancakes are no longer offered, a disappointment since they were a favorite. Throughout the meal, we were repeatedly told the oven was causing delays. After waiting about 20 minutes for cinnamon rolls, our server informed us they weren't available and were supposedly arriving from another location. My eggs were ordered with cheddar but came with American cheese, and my latte was initially made with regular milk after I specifically requested almond milk. After asking multiple times about the biscuits and waiting nearly an hour, we watched identical orders go to another table while ours arrived later. The gentleman at the front was kind, personable, and professional, which was appreciated. The food we did receive tasted great, but the service issues made the experience frustrating. I never did get the cinnamon rolls, perhaps the truck never arrived. Next time, I'll likely return to the Virginia location. read more

I gave Matchbox's unlimited brunch a try last month (May 2025)... IT. WAS. GREAT!! Be sure to come on an empty stomach so you can eat your monies worth, haha. I came here with a few friends and we ordered a variety of dishes so we could try different things. We received complimentary biscuits (they were light, fluffy, and tasty) and ordered a lot of food off the meny. My favorite item was the stuffed French toast. The strawberries weren't the freshest, but still... that dish was SO DELICIOUS! I had the standard eggs, potatoes, and turkey sausage and they were cool... it's your standard breakfast. Nothing fancy needed. The waffles with the peaches were good as well, but once I tried the French toast? Oh, it was over for everything else! Actually, let me correct that... the old bay wings were bangin' too!! You know how sometimes you order wings at a restaurant and they are soggy or maybe they taste a lil freezer burned or something? There was none of that with the old bay wings... they were delightfully crisp and full of that old bay flavor. The old bay wings and stuffed French toast were my absolute faves!! If you're coming to hear the DJ, please note that he arrived around noon. We came at 10:00am and sat at the bar and left not too long after the DJ came. He also took requests, so that's nice if there's a song you want to hear while you're there. One thing I really loved about their brunch is that they allow you to take it to go (#WHERETHEYDOTHATAT??). I haven't experienced an unlimited brunch where they allow you to take what you didn't finish. I happily boxed up my leftovers. Sad to say, I fell ill to food poisoning from another restaurant so I didn't get to enjoy my leftovers... but don't worry. I'll be back! read more

This was our first time going to Matchbox. It was pretty decent. We tried the $42 brunch special, but if one person at the table orders it, everyone has to get it. I guess they don't want people picking off someone else's plate lol. The food was okay, but it wasn't hot enough. read more

I hate to join the bandwagon about this endless brunch, but I absolutely have to!! It's a MOOD! This is a better than solid casual Saturday or Sunday morning Brunch Location where the DJ turns what is already a delicious dining treat into a fun time (if you enjoy R&B or line dancing). You cannot go wrong with any dish on the menu with my favorite being the Chicken and (Peach) Waffles and Shrimp and Grits. Do note, be prepared for it to be a little loud and multiple games are playing at most times. If looking for a quieter, more intimate brunch option with live jazz....there's somewhere else nearby. read more
