TL; DR: Meh pizza, sketchy ambience, rude service. Food We got the largest size pizza with two toppings, pepperoni and green peppers. The cheese was good. The crust was soft and bready. The pizza wasn't sliced through all the way. It was a meh pizza that suited the purpose of "we need something for dinner", but I wouldn't order it again. Ambience You'd think you were making a high-stakes financial transaction of gold bars or something. There's a lot of plexiglass and cameras. It feels shady. Service We had two slices leftover and inquired about slice boxes or a smaller box since it seemed silly to carry a giant box. Pizza Movers in Takoma Park MD has been around for years and is always a destination when I come back to DC to visit family. They have a tried and true sauce that is unequaled (IMHO) and their crust is perfection. I've left reviews about how I end my trips to DC with a pizza that I eat a slice, then wrap in tinfoil, pack into a Tupperware box and bring back to Oakland CA so I can enjoy my favorite pie in the 510. Side note: had a coworker in SF who grew up in Takoma Park and she got very excited when she found out our multiverse of Pizza Movers. This weight of the 3 stars is depending on the pizza. It's your average pizza. I had a large pepperoni. It was pricey at $16.95. The best way to describe it is it taste like Costco. The person at the register who I assumed what the owner was just rude as hell. Think of a New Yorker rushing you in and out of the carry out. It's my first time and the menu was pretty big. I was the only person in the store; he wasn't rushing me to order. My issue with him was that when it came for payment he was just mad that my card declined, and said you have no money. So I've been coming to this Pizza Movers for years now and also use to go to the pizza movers on flower ave before they closed it down and I just have to say they are the best, best pizza, and best service. I went to get a Large xtra cheese and pepperoni with a order of wedges and let me just say it was incredible. I really wish the had more locations around because it's some good pizza. I've known the two guys that run pizza movers in Takoma Park for years and they always welcome me with a smile they carry a good conversation with me and make the food within a timely fashion. And the employees act just the way pizza workers are supposed to act: with efficient briskness that must not be mistaken for rudeness. It's cool pizza it tastes like Ocean City Boardwalk Pizza. It's better than Papa John, and Pizza Hut and reminds me a little bit of Dominos hand-tossed but not as bready. She seemed very annoyed that I even came into the establishment and when I gave her my name to pick up the order that Was placed online and paid for, she proceeded to argue with me uncontrollably. I told her that I didn't understand cease she just kept telling me that I had to wait and call them to order. Apparently she thought that I was a driver from DoorDash or grub hub and NOT THE CUSTOMER. When the gentleman in the back corrected her, she did not even bother to apologize to me for her mistake, she stayed consistent in her attitude and shoved my food to me. This was, unfortunately, the worst customer service experience I've ever had with a small business. Will not be returning. We placed an order over the phone for a medium, half-cheese, half-veggie pizza. When we called, the person who answered the phone sounded distracted, but we made it very clear that we wanted a medium pizza with half cheese and half veggies, even repeating ourselves multiple times. She was on speakerphone and multiple people heard the order being place and us double confirming what we specified. SHE even confirmed our order. When we arrived to pick up the pizza, she made the order incorrectly and we politely asked her to remake it. We were visibly confused when she insisted that we ordered a full-veggie pizza and refused to make another one how we originally requested. She told us that someone would have to pay for the pizza even if it's made incorrectly because there's no way that she could've made the mistake. We told her that we confirmed our order with her, on speaker, MULTIPLE TIMES, before hanging up and were not interested in a full-veggie pizza. We told her that we didn't want the incorrect pizza, they could dispose of it how ever they chose. We just wanted to place an order for the correct pizza. She then proceeded to accuse us of trying to get a free pizza out of the shop-- which is ridiculous. If we are telling you that we don't want the incorrect pizza and will pay for the pizza that we ordered, WHYYY are you accusing us of trying to essentially steal?! We ended up leaving after this woman refused to correct the order, gaslit us, accused us of trying to steal and still expecting us to pay for the wrong pizza. Poor business practice. read more
