TL;DR: $8 for a few onion slices! I've been a Pizzeria…read moreParadiso customer for 20 years, first at the Dupont and Georgetown locations. So I was thrilled when one opened up in Hyattsville, not far from where I live. My partner and I have been there many times over the past few years and have always enjoyed it. But we were flabbergasted by our most recent experience. The food is as good as it ever was, but the value just isn't there. We were in on a Wednesday night and noticed a table sign for a special: two large pies and two appetizers for $60, so we ordered that. We each had one drink as well, and split a dessert. The bill came to over double that amount! We have paid less when eating in fine dining establishments. Why was our bill so high? Two main reasons: first because the upcharge for an additional topping is $4 each. I would expect that for fancy meat or cheese, but we only added red onion slices. Onions are one of the cheapest things in the supermarket, and $8 will buy a lot of onions. But I guess that's on us for not noticing that all additional toppings are the same (high!) price. Also, PP automatically adds a 20% charge in lieu of a tip. I have mixed feelings about that (and about the increases in tip culture in general). Our service was fine but not exceptional. Sadly, we will think hard before returning to PP. There are many other good pizza places out there.

This location offers both inside and outside dining, has a kids corner inside and play area outside and is walkable to a number of local shops. The pizza is tasty and reasonably priced and they have beautiful art from local artists on the walls available for purchase. We will be back!

We shared the crispy eggplant and shrimp skewers, and both were excellent. We each ordered a cocktail too, and everything hit the spot. We sat at the bar, and the service was friendly and attentive without being over the top. Great atmosphere, delicious food, and a really nice way to end the evening. I'd definitely come back to try more of the menu.

So, let's start with food. Once we were seated and greeted by Sara, we sat around and talked for a bit before deciding what we wanted. The drink menu is wild so I opted for a beer. After all, it is a brewery! I opted for an IPA, my friend also ordered a beer (Dark & Stormy, a dark beer), and the other ordered a drink. Although my beer was 11%, it wasn't bitter and tasted juicy! It was good. I got the fish & chips w/coleslaw, one friend ordered onion rings and the other ordered salmon. Those onion rings were banging! and the coleslaw was pretty good too. Who doesn't love some fish & chips. Sometimes you just want something crispy! Overall, the food was decent. But let's talk about the general store-----------WOW! It's stocked with EVERYTHING!! Mugs, puzzles, seasonings, socks, leggo's, books, anything you can imagine. It's wild! Then......they also have liquor and beer. I'm talking craft beer, good wine, etc. Oh, and let's throw in an ice cream shop. Yes, an ice cream shop. They have everything! Check it out for yourself!

You see, get there too late and your options will be less. This morning before they opened, they already down to a half pound of burnt ends left for the day. They take pre-orders and you better put those in before they open or you'll be waiting until later in the day. Only a certain number of folks can be let in at a time to control seating which is available in and out. I had the short back ribs (which were so delish they fell off the bone), mac and cheese (warm cheesy goodness) and tried some of the baked beans (with brisket, jalapeños and saucy goodness). We also brought home some turkey, and their two kinds of brisket. Sweet baby Jesus. The wagyu brisket is buttery, melt in your mouth delish and the prime brisket is more traditional. Moist is the only way to go. While they have sauce, all their meats are so well seasoned you'll never want any. Make the drive and enjoy every dollar spent for the meat sweats.
