Matchbox definitely has one of my favorite pizzas and they have been able to accommodate my allergy requests for the last 5 years I have been visiting! I always split a fire and smoke with my partner one side with cheese and one without. Will say most of the time the service is amazing but there's been more than a handful of times where we had to flag down our waiter more than once for either the bill or more water. Sometimes they mess up the dietary request and have to send it back, but are pretty quick to get it out to me. Overall, still a fan and will be back read more

The other day my bf and I went to Matchbox for a cute little lunch date. When we walked in the hostess asked if we could like indoor or outdoor seating. I asked if we could do happy hour anywhere vs just the bar. She said yes so we followed her. We got a table outside but we didn't get a happy hour menu As we are sitting there we realize no one ever came over to greet us or offer even water while we wait. We get up to move to the bar since we could see bartenders and could be serviced and we walk past our waiter. Anyways, I think his name was Roberto. He was awesome. All of his recommendations were spot on. I made the mistake of listening to a different bartender who recommended tequila and soda. All in all, the food was good and the drinks were good. This place is pretty terrible as it commits the two worst restaurant sins: 1. Food doesn't taste good; and 2. It is incredibly overpriced They have a "fan favorite" Nashville chicken sandwich which is just disgusting and an insult to the real Nashville chicken sandwiches of the world. Go to literally anywhere else for your spicy chicken sandwich and it will be half the price and double the flavor. You're welcome. Supposedly this place was quality until a corporate buyout took place. Unfortunately, I never had the chance to try it before those events transpired. I give it two stars for the friendly staff. I sat at the bar to order food for my wife and we had a great conversation. I value social enrichment and would have paid $18 for the conversation instead of the sandwich. I think they're somewhere between a 3.5 to to 4 stars. It's a pizza / burger joint. I came here with a large group; it was a Sunday evening, so it was busy. Thus, everything took a while. Because I was with a large party, we ordered a little bit of everything. So, I tried many items. I opted for the All American Burger. It was pretty good. It was cook at the temperature I ask for and it was flavorful. I ordered the only porter on their menu and I love it. They have a great selection of wines and beers. I came for a co-worker thing. I sat in the Bar area, but not at the bar. It was really hard getting service at the communal table. The bar area is really loud (to not include normal people). It's like constant yelling at each other due to the volume in music being turned up. I couldn't hear my co-worker who was sitting less than 6 inches away, our legs were even touching due to space restrictions. The food is pretty good here. I normally come and sit at the pizza bar to watch them make the pizza's. This was the first time I came for HH and went to the bar. The drinks and food prices I feel are over priced. Our group tried the: -Calamari: which was $7 (fairly priced for a normal pricing). It was served with a honey glaze sauce which was very unique in flavor, in a good way. -Pepperoni Three-Cheese Fritters was $9. It was not very split-able except for two people and it's not very filling. We couldn't find the pepperoni but assumed it was in the marinara sauce. It's two fried triangles (think motz sticks) with a side salad as garnish sitting in a marinara sauce with some cherry tomatoes cut up. -Holy Grail Margherita, Chicken Pesto, Matchbox Meat were on a HH for $10.5 at the bar so we ordered those. They were good! For Beer you are looking at Drafts for $5.5, Draft Wines for $7.5 and for mix drinks for $7.5 each. To me, this doesn't scream HH deals; but it's a couple dollars off normal prices, so... It was a OK experience to me. The aesthetics of this place are really nice! I like how open it is with rustic textures like natural wood and creative use of piping for fixtures and lights. The food is pretty good and very tasty! I enjoy they let you see into the kitchen with glass windows and you can watch your pizza being made. I wish the bar area would turn down the volume level of the music, so you can have conversations or even hear the waiter (when they decide to do a round and check on you). We love Matchbox! It's a great family spot that everyone can enjoy. Their mini burgers and pizza are our go-tos and we also like their beignets for dessert (you can even order them to-go like we usually do because we're too full to eat them at the restaurant). On our most recent trip we ordered the chicken pesto pizza, a pepperoni pizza, 6 mini burger sliders with their famous sky high mound of fried onions, and the bistro burger. Everything was delicious and we had leftovers even though there were 6 of us. My favorite has to be the pepperoni because it's thick cut pepperoni that they render down just enough to crisp the edges and it's perfect every time! It even tastes great cold the next day - if you're into that sort of thing, haha. The sliders are a close second - they are always juicy and perfect little bites of heaven. Even if you don't like onions - try the fried onions and I promise you will change your mind. These are super thin and crispy and just melt in your mouth...drool worthy. This place can get packed on the weekends and parking can be annoying at times at One Loudoun but once you're finally inside the staff makes you feel at home. Once you're done you can walk off your meal around the town center. In the summer the kids all play in the splash pad right in front of the Alamo and it's always a blast. read more

Honestly, it's a bit overpriced for what you get. Nothing was bad exactly, but if I'm paying $18 for breakfast, I want to be more excited about the flavors of the food. On top of that, the service was lacking. My friend ordered a hot coffee as they were out of cold brew, and she never received it. Another friend asked for a water refill, and the server took her glass but never brought it back until 10 minutes went by, and we flagged him down to ask for it again. I've tried several different items on their menu and have never had something I didn't like. This was my first time coming here and it was pretty good! For appetizer we got the calamari which has a perfect crisp to it and a yummy sauce drizzled over it. For entrees we ordered from the dinner brunch menu. We got the chicken and waffles, matchbox scramble, and crab cake eggs Benedict. The chicken and waffles was a very large generous portion. The meat was juicy and it was fried nicely. It came with four large chicken pieces and four waffle squares with syrup. The gravy that came with the chicken tasted a little bland. The matchbox scramble came with several items. The brunch potatoes were absolutely delicious! The eggs tasted great with all of the different mix ins. The crab cake eggs Benedict wasn't bad but it wasn't amazing either. I could eat a whole plate of those crispy yet soft brunch potatoes. I asked for a side of honey mustard and they happily brought it out. Overall, this place is great to check out for their brunch items and the service was good. My family and I went out for dinner for my wife's 52nd birthday. Me, my son, and my other son all got the "Double Bacon Cheeseburger"; my wife got salmon, and my daughter got the "Bistro Burger". When the food came out, all the double bacon cheeseburgers only had one patty with 2 pieces of bacon and an egg. Soon after the food was served, our waitress came over to our table see how our food was. I told her that it only had one patty on each burger (my two sons and mine). The waitress said: "So we call it the 'Double Bacon Cheeseburger' because of the toppings" referring to the bacon and egg, which makes no sense in my opinion. Soon after that, the manager came over to see how the food was. I told her: "We're disappointed about the burgers because it's called a 'Double Bacon Cheeseburger' and it's supposed to have 2 patties on them". The manager said: "Oh well there is an option to buy a second patty, but I will tell the chef that" I then said, "Is it free?" and she shook her head. Maybe they should rename it the "Bacon Cheeseburger" Instead of the "Double Bacon Cheeseburger". Overall, the food was tasty and delicious, but we didn't expect the "Double Bacon Cheeseburger" to only have one patty on the burger. Service was horrible and slow. Sudden change in policy stating a required 20% gratuity and not allowed to split checks for parties of more than 8 was upsetting. Plenty of places have a minimum gratuity amount for large parties.... but when there are only 7 adults and the rest of the party are infants/toddlers... it is unacceptable. Not to lention that our service was absolutely horrible. missing items, not coming back to check on us, taking 30 minutes to take our order when we knew before we ordered drinks what we all wanted but were told she had to our drinks in first... and then not come back to take our food orders until after all the drinks were out and more. Overall I am very disappointed in the downward spiral of the service and time it takes to dine at the restaurant. We have been frequenting this location for a long time, and the last 3 visits have gotten worse and worse. On a recent trip to Ashburn, One Loudon was not far from where I was staying. When trying to come up with local dinner plans, Matchbox came up in several of my searches, so I decided to give it a try. Our first experience was so good that after dinner plans another night (the same week) didn't come together as anticipated, we decided to come back! I love the vibe of the place - the brick walls and open kitchen are some of my favorites about the interior. The large bar area was also a nice touch - it is also where we were seated on our first visit. The second night we were sat at a table in what I would consider the main dining area (I would have loved to see the second floor space too!) While the restaurant is fairly open, it also felt cozy and welcoming. I believe we had the same waiter on both visits - much better the first time than the second but regardless he introduced us to the Arancini appetizer which was delicious! Three fired meatball like "risotto balls" served over a thick tomato sauce. The wood fired pizza menu drew me in both nights, I decided to be adventurous and try the Prosciutto and Fig pizza the first night. All the different flavors in this pizza were spot on. I loved how I could get a sense of each separate ingredient, but together the pizza was a master piece! I tried the Matchbox Meat pizza on the second night which was also delicious. For those hesitant to order it because of the hot sausage, it didn't taste overly hot and I usually shy away from overly spicy food. As far as the drinks go, the cocktail menu is unique and offers many different options. I decided on the Very Berry Sangria on the first night (mind you I don't like red wine) but I found this drink palatable and shall I say enjoyable? It appeared from the first night to the second night the menu may have changed as the sangria I had the first night had changed to a more fall inspired drink. In a rush to order a drink I decided on the Firepit Pounder which looking at it I envisioned a sweeter cocktail, if I bothered to process the name of the drink, I may have questioned the server. A few sips into this drink I couldn't go any further - this drink was SPICY! The waitstaff was so kind and helped me find another cocktail that I was sure to enjoy. Another server helped me select the Cherry Berry Smash which was sweeter and just what I was looking for to accompany my woodfired pizza. I really enjoyed this place and will return if I am in the area again! read more

Visited on a Friday night and it was easy to get a table for two after 8 PM. The bar area is clearly an excellent spot for locals to hang out on the weekends, but is far enough from the dining room as to not interrupt your dining experience. My only ick was that the food was ehh. The scallops dish was way too heavy with the creamed corn & the salmon entree dish was overcooked (we did forget to ask for a specific temperature, but also note that usually servers ask temperature preference for salmon). The wine prices are a little egregious for the offerings (almost $20 for a 9oz of Kim Crawford? Get real and add an Oregon Sav Blanc instead) Lastly, the donuts we had tasted like they were made in old frying oil, or at least in oil that was used to fry onions. If you're looking for an excellent bar for happy hour brunch options, or dinner for the family (pizza and sliders are amazing!!) I would recommend this matchbox. This location just needs a bit more love and attention! I did ENJOY my visit to the restaurant! I was just expecting more from a Matchbox. read more
