Baker's Crust in Ashburn recently expanded their hours, and I'm grateful they're now open until 9pm Tuesday-Saturday. They also rolled out a new 2pm-close menu with some seriously affordable, high-quality steaks. I'm trying to convince my son to join me so we can split the 16oz NY Strip--but getting him out of the house is half the battle. Food-wise, I've been working my way through the menu and haven't missed yet. The Ahi Tuna Loaded Guac, Brick Oven Crab Dip, Dixie Shrimp, Steakhouse Burger, Asiago Chicken, and Southern Chili Chicken Sandwich have all been excellent. Portions are generous, and you definitely get your money's worth. Pro tip: check the Specials menu. The tacos, pasta, and pizzas are worth a look--especially the brick oven pizzas. Yes, they're back, and the crust is exactly how it should be: crisp with that perfect char. I grab one to take home at least once a week. Service has been consistently great. The bartenders and servers are friendly, and attentive. You can tell management cares about quality and keeping customers happy. Dropped by Ashburn to try out Baker's Crust Artisan Kitchen for brunch. We started with the biscuits and sweet butter, OMG just like a Cinnabon. Loved it. They do sell full size Bons for those that can need the sugar rush. I ordered the Pastrami hash with two eggs easy over which was great, next time I'll try the pastrami sandwich. We just had the best chicken and waffles from Baker's Crust Artisan Kitchen! The chicken was seasoned well, light and crunchy, with the perfect waffle to accompany it. We also had the hash browns, very delish! It's a very laid back vibe with a pretty big bar as soon as you enter. Apparently we weren't the only ones impressed by the chicken and waffles, I saw several being taken to other customers. One thing the staff should make certain to do, is clean the restrooms regularly. When I used the facilities, I could see it needed a good scrub! Other than that, we enjoyed our meal. The wait wasn't long and our server, Lauren, did a great job. If I'm ever in the area again, I'll be certain to check the pizza out here. Looks great! read more

I have to say, when I heard that Bakers Crust was selling Ess-A Bagels, I was somewhat dubious. But I decided to give them a try. They are really good, same texture as in NYC, perhaps a bit smaller, which is fine with me. Docking one star because they don't have my two favorite Ess-A flavors: garlic and pumpernickel. A friend and I came to eat here for the first time on a Saturday. Luckily we had a reservation, as it was quite packed. Our reservation was for 10:30AM, and there already seemed to be a small wait for tables. Our server was quite prompt but we think he may have been new. He asked if we had been to the restaurant before, we replied no and there was no follow up to his question (we thought this was rather odd). The food here is SO BAD. Perhaps if you like your food unseasoned, bland, and not cooked right, you will enjoy. I ordered the classic eggs Benedict. The EGG WHITES were raw. I love runny yolk, don't get me wrong, but there's runny yolk, and then there's just a raw egg with liquid egg whites. Okay, whatever, I'll eat around it, and then BOOM the soggiest untoasted English muffin I've ever had. The texture was like baby food I couldn't eat it without wanting to gag. The biscuits and gravy were just as bad. The "gravy" tasted like watery milk. No flavor at all like literally the only seasoning visible in it is black pepper and maybe a few CRUMBS of sausage. Saturday morning. Myself and a group of friends went to give this place a try. We made a reservation for a table of six for 11am. couple of days in advance When w arrived they didn't have a table large enough for us inside. We then tried to sit outside and try to put tables together under the shade. There was a table under an umbrella that needed to be cleaned but we were told they couldn't clean it right now. Ok so we decided to go back inside to be put in a booth that would fit 4 comfortably but there were five us. We were told they could put a chair on the end because it would be in the way. Yet the next table order had a high chair on the end. So we proceeded to put the chair on the end and all were comfortable and we were not in the way. Tyler I believe was our server's name nice young man seemed a bit on the nervous side which makes me think he was new to serving. He did an AWESOME JOB he took care of us in great fashion.!!! The food was good tasty and hot. A couple of us had the Pastrami Hash. My one friend always orders the same breakfast item and judges the restaurant by a dish of Eggs Benedict. It was kind of on the mark. Half right. Half over cooked. The highlight of the meal was a gentleman sitting across from us for no apparent reason other than an act of kindness quietly told the server to our bill on his tab . We all were all a bit stunned and pleasantly surprised I wish this kind person would have or would reveal himself.(Hopefully he reads this review) So we could personally show our appreciation. For whatever reason we received this act of kindness. It just made our day. It goes to show there are still good people in this world!!! read more

Visited Baker's Crust Artisan Kitchen this morning for the first time for Brunch (they only serve breakfast/brunch on weekends) - I believe until 2:00 pm. The place was pretty busy when I arrived around 11:00 am-ish. I opted to sit at the bar. After looking over the menu - I decided to try the "Baltimore Benedict," which is a Benedict with crab meat. I assumed it was going to be a crab cake - but that was not the case - it's a small quantity of crab on English muffins, topped with poached eggs, Hollandaise sauce and a dusting of Old Bay. I also added a side of bacon - because BACON - and a glass of water. The dish comes with breakfast potatoes. When the food came out - I observed there was no crab cake - only loose crab meat. The Benedict tasted delish - but I was hoping for more crab meat. The breakfast potatoes were cut smaller - thus they were crispy - which is a plus. The bacon was damn tasty. Note that this restaurant charges a fee of 3.5% - which will appear on your bill as a line item of "ADJ FEE," - which I think means "Adjustment." The fee is on there instead of them reprinting the menus each time prices go up - the fee is to deal with with rising food and other costs. They have a notice about this posted in several places around the restaurant - but given that I entered with an uncaffeinated brain - I totally missed seeing/reading the notice. Service was a little slow in terms of the bartender getting over to me - given I was sitting at the bar - I could have sat at a table and probably gotten swifter service - but I was not in a hurry. #BakersCrustArtisanKitchen read more

We waited for 15 minutes for a table, which is fine. But the table given to us was sticky all over the surface. And the seat was wet. After they finally cleaned it, it took almost 20 minutes for the waiter to come to take our order. Then it took another 20 minutes for the food to come. The table next to us came 15 minutes after us and got their food way before us. When the food came, we found out one set of our utensils was sticky. Because the waiter was no where to be found, we had to go to the bar to get another set ourselves. Then there's the food. I asked for biscuit on the side and got whole wheat toast. My son asked for white toast and got a biscuit. I asked for a shrimp and asparagus omelet. There was only 2 tiny pieces of asparagus instead the omelet. No way, another superb breakfast joint located right in my neck of the woods -- in the heart of the Ashburn area! As soon as I came here and saw the "Habit Burger Grill" sign, I knew I'd swung by here at least twice before, but for some reason I totally missed that this place even existed!! I say, what a happy surprise. Totally worth it. Overly generous parking lot up front, clear of reserved parking spots as far as the eye can see. Smooth sailing here is the understatement of the year, no doubt. Iconic storefront, will archive it in my mind forevermore -- next to the overly colorful Habit Burger sign! I came by entirely on a whim, and totally it was not a "swing and a miss" in any sense of the term. Arrived a little after 11 on a Tuesday morning, close to the store opening times. Arrived and promptly requested for "dine in". And equally as promptly, I was seated in the room adjoining the forward-facing one. Drinks were up first on the board, so I asked for fruit juices and then narrowed the choice to Orange Juice (OJ). It is not fresh made, the waitress stated as such, but relatively well priced so I called it a steal of sorts. I'd read solid reviews on the breakfast fare, so I made a beeline for the "Swanky Egg Benedict" that came with chicken, biscuits, and poached egg, without any hesitation at all. I snapped photos of the surrounding area, my glass of OJ, and my hat, since I was still soaking in the splendor of the late-morn ambience. Well, that and I realistically had nothing better to do. OJ was pretty decent, nothing to draft a long, painstakingly handwritten note to inevitably mail home and all, but a solid hitter on a mid-league team all the same. The main course arrived, and *my, oh my* what a "Swanky" Benedict indeed! Enough to tip your hat at in any case -- if I was still wearing mine, that is. The hash browns were just the right size to "fork" up, and we're hands-down one of the best I've ever had. Crispy and salted to enjoyment. The SB (open-faced biscuit with fried chicken, bacon, poached egg, and hollandaise) was beyond incredible and exceeded my wildest expectations. Safe to say it is assuredly the best Eggs Benedict I've had in my (young but not so young) life. Wowza! All of it was flavorful and tantalized my taste buds. My favorite part of it was the (not overly-runny) yolk of the poached-just-right egg, mixed with the fried chicken and the affirming hardness of the biscuit. It tasted *just* right. My one gripe, the bacon sort of overpowered the (otherwise enjoyable) taste of chicken and egg. Otherwise, I wouldn't change a thing. All in all, incredible spot for breakfast or brunch. The chef who cooked my SB dish was a culinary genius, by my liberal estimation. Hats off to her/him! Everyone there was kind and welcoming as a general rule of thumb, which was also great. The place is cleanly and not too overly crowded. The environment is cozy and has great brunch vibes. I got a lox bagel sandwich and it came out very quick! The hash browns are crispy and delicious, and the bagel sandwich was as expected. Wish it came with a little bit of cream cheese, but I could have asked for that as well. So the name threw me off. We stopped in one morning thinking we'd grab a morning muffin or croissant and found out this is something else. So the breakfast was decent. The place served lunch and dinners. Great happy hour prices on beers wine and select appetizers. The one that got my attention was the Thursday night $8 pizza and select $5 beers. Stopped out for that and there are $5 happy hour beers till 6. Tried the pizza. It's a Neapolitan style pizza which was good... it had a softer chewier crust and a slightly sweeter sauce. I liked it. So traditionally the sauce is made with San Marzano tomato or Pomodorino del Piennolo del Vesuvio ( found that out from other Neapolitan pizza joints), the sweetness made the pizza for me. Also the pepperoni was really tasty. I'll be back to try another one, hoping the fennel sausage flavor is delicious. They had other foods and plenty of wine and beer selections on tap. Good was absolutely fantastic, but service had some hiccups. I called ahead because I read you could request a reservation, but beware, reservations aren't taken for Saturday brunch hours. Despite that, my wait was only 10 minutes after we arrived. The overall service was... dysfunctional. Wait staff didn't appear to communicate well amongst each other and service was a bit slow. That being said it was awesome to see the waitstaff was very young and appeared to be enjoying their jobs. I had to take a star off for service due to lack of attention to the table, confusion with orders and confusion with seating request (highchair and amount of ppl at table). The brunch was OUTSTANDING. The pancakes were huge, perfectly cooked and had a vanilla flavor to them. The maple sausage was absolutely delicious! We were sad we didn't get another order to split! The swanky eggs Benedict was perfect! The acid of the lemon arugula with the salty bacon and perfectly cooked piece of chicken was so tasty! The egg was perfectly cooked, as well as those square breakfast potato's that had perfect seasoning! I can't say enough positive things about the brunch! They portion sizes were pretty big, so I was excited to have leftovers for later! I was surprised to see so many gluten free options available on the menu. Outstandingly bad. Dinner at 6:30 on Friday night. My wife suggested we leave after 5 minutes. She was right. Terrible service. Waitress explained after forgetting our drink order and asking repeatedly if we were ready to order that it was just her and a bartender. Ordered burgers. Waitress came back and apologized that they ran out of burgers. Changed to fish and chips and a baked chicken sandwich. Fish and chips, $24 came with ONE so-so piece of fish. Chicken sandwich was awful. Meat was Grizzly and hard, inedible. The cole slaw tasted like intense pickled vinegar. The waitress catch phrase to our table and others was "I'm so sorry". It takes effort to be this bad. Very disappointing. Felt like they should have paid us for the experience. Giving this 3 star rating because I am an overall HUGE fan of Baker's Crust and their breakfast menu but I would not recommend this dish. I understand subbing the hash browns and toast for fruit a lot of the volume is removed, but this dish was tiny and tasted okay at best making it not worth the almost $20 price tag. The avocado was hard and unseasoned and the omelette itself was spongey and not cooked well. While I will not be coming back for an omelette the overall atmosphere and other really great menu items like the chicken and waffles or classic breakfast dishes will be ensuring my return. read more

The ambiance was 'farmhouse meets industry' with a lot of medium toned wood everywhere mixed with black iron-like metal. I quickly asked for a booth that offered a comfy cushion bc the regular chairs where just wood and looked uncomfortable. I ordered the Jamaican French Toast that, once I removed the slimy, cooked banana off of, were amazing. My son ordered pancakes but was later told that the restaurant was out of batter (with 1 hour left in the breakfast hours) so he tried to switch to a waffle, but it used the same batter, so he ended up with plain French toast. That's a little sad. I mean, I had batter at home I could have brought, if I had known. The service was adequate but not awesome, as we had to flag the waiter down for refills and our check. What really shocked me was when I got the check (pictured). First, I was shocked that a single order of pancakes or flapjacks (that my son didn't even end up getting) was $12.49 and included NO SIDES! Since the pancakes came with nothing, I was unaware that my son ordered BOTH sausage AND bacon at $5+ EACH, making his meal almost $23 before adding in the $3 coke. But the big kicker was the "ADJ FEE" added at the bottom of the ticket that was 3.5% of the entire check. I read further down on my receipt that it was "added to offset rising costs so they didn't have to increase the prices on the menu." SAY WHAT? I assume that it was printed somewhere on the menu but I certainly didn't see it anywhere! SO, you are charging $12.50 for 3 simple pancakes with no sides, then on top of that, charging a misc fee bc costs continue to rise for us all? In the end, the fee was only $1.70, but to me, it's the principle! Don't be ridiculous and just raise your prices like everyone else does and let people decide if they can afford to eat there or not. Don't add a misc charge to every ticket expecting to get sympathy bc of typical inflation that affects everyone! I won't be going back, on principle, of course. It's a little sad bc the lunch menu had some enticing items, like a chicken panini and tomato cheese soup. I think instead, I'm going to start shopping for a panini press and eat more at home, you know, to offset the rising costs affecting us all. read more
