We ended up staying for a relaxed, 3.5-hour dinner. The staff never rushed us once, allowing us to fully savor every single course. Our server, Jamiel, was an absolute revelation. I feel like he is my brother from another mother--he treated us like family, and I mean that with every ounce of my heart. Jamiel's knowledge of the menu, wine list, and caviar was top-tier. He never hovered, yet he would suddenly appear the moment we needed anything, as if he could read our minds. When we ordered the Golden Osetra caviar, the presentation made us feel like total royalty. It was such a beautiful, fun service! For dinner, our steaks were out of this world, and all the sides paired flawlessly. On Jamiel's brilliant recommendation, my son paired his meal with a glass of Fortune Son, The Dreamer Cabernet Sauvignon. It was the perfect wine for the steak and for a night centered around celebrating family. Somehow, we saved room for dessert and ordered one of everything. Jamiel completely surprised us by bringing out a chocolate cheesecake and a glass of Grand Marnier brandy--a pairing so perfect they tasted like they were married. His generosity completely warmed our hearts. We loved visiting with him and hearing about his upcoming trip to Greece! Our commis waiter was also an absolute gem with a soft, kind soul. He never missed a beat, making sure empty plates never sat in front of us and our waters were always full. He even took the time to professionally box our leftovers so the food wasn't touching, ensuring it would be just as delicious at home. I don't know where the owner finds these rare gems, but I pray they take great care of them. This was the most phenomenal fine dining experience of our lives. Ya know...I had low expectations for this place because it is a chain restaurant. But go off Mastros I actually enjoyed my meal amd we had a great server. One small chop because I ordered sparkling water and it was flat. We visited during restaurants week and as expected they have minimal pescatarian options anddd their seafood is not wild caught. That to me is a big yikes especially considering the price of their seafood. I ordered the French onion soup and it was piping hot and I loved it. My next course was the branzino. And ummm it wasn't bad or the branzino I've tried. I also ordered a side of garlic mashed potatoes and those were excellent! I concluded with the butter cake very very good eith vanilla ice cream. Dined in with family for a belated birthday dinner and we had the most amazing experience. From entry, parking was easy with their valet service. We were sat promptly and given great attention by our server. For starters we shared the meatballs, crab cakes, and lots of their bread. Everything was delicious. For my entree I ordered the 8 oz filet mignon, with shared sides of the creamed spinach, asparagus, broccoli, and white cheddar mac and cheese. I asked for medium plus but it did feel closer to medium- but still was a great steak. The spa day martini was refreshing and light. Such a disappointing Mother's Day. Mastro's is my favorite resturaunt and I was looking forward to my favorite dish which is actually an appetizer. It was so disappointing. First off, our reservation were at 9:15. Someone called hours before and told up they would close at 9. We arrive early and the place was bustling with people. I'd expect it to be slow if you were going to close early but.....? Moving on, the scallop appetizer had such little sauce. This is my fave dish. I get it here in HTX, NYC and etc and it has never come out with this modicum of sauce. I'm not sure if it was just a portion thing due to the holiday or what but *sigh*. For entrees I ordered a filet and scalloped potatoes with creamed corn. The filet was cooked perfectly, creamed corn great also. The scalloped potatoes were not as delectable. It was as if the cheese was layered more so on top than in between. Like layers of potato with minimal cheese. All in all my worst experience at Mastro's. Maybe I should avoid coming on big holidays? I cannot lie I love Mastro's one of my favorite restaurants in Houston. The ambience is always fire. I always like to sit by the waterfall every time I visit the restaurant, cause it gives such a romantic vibe. it was a party at 10, but they only set the table for nine so one of the guests had to stand up and wait for a minute before I brought us a chair. That's the only downside but my visit to the restaurant but other than that, the food was great and my ribeye steak that I have was so delicious. I just can't stop thinking about it. I stumbled upon this place when searching for fine dining in Houston. I wasn't expecting to experience the finest dining I ever had, but I should have known when I saw multiple Rolls Royce's in the parking lot. I was blown away by the service from the moment I walked through the door, and was greatful the host sat us outside right by the waterfall. The ambiance was something I've never experienced; it was loud and lively, yet romantic and reclusive. My husband and I came on valentines day. We made a reservation online earlier that day. I believe this location was valet only because we couldn't find any parking whatsoever. Once we entered, there was a HUGE sea of people gathered at the entrance, which made it hard to get to the hostess stand. Our Order: *Pomegranate Martini - this was pretty refreshing, i really enjoyed it 9/10 *16oz New York Strip - honestly this steak was good, but nothing special. It came with a side of butter. I got it with bone marrow butter, which i enjoyed, and my husband got it with black truffle butter which was also good. 8.5/10 *Lobster Mac and Cheese - phenomenal, it was sooo cheesy and fresh. I would get this again 10/10 *Mashed Potatoes - mashed potatoes are a must when eating steak but these were a complete miss for me. They were not your typical creamy steakhouse mashed potatoes, these had chunks in it, which is fine if they were actually cooked.... Unfortunately the undercooked potato chunks weren't worth it for me. 6/10 *Baked Potato - my husbands go-to steak side, just like the mashed potatoes, this was also hard and undercooked. 6/10 Overall: this will not be my go-to steakhouse. I want to give them the benefit of the doubt that it was just an off day due to the holiday rush, but we have had better experiences on the same day at other steakhouses. Mastro's is located in the same parking lot as The Post Oak. Mastros has valet as well as self-service, but We walked over for dinner since We'd already valeted at The Post, and it didn't disappoint! I ordered Salmon which was blackened just the way I like. We shared the Caesar salad bc the portion was enough for two. My favorite was the crab rice and the lobster mashed potatoes. I could eat the mashed potatoes every day. Service was great and waiters were very attentive. The drinks were also lovely. Made with Me in mind LoL The vibe is chill with live music playing. I do suggest sitting to the right of the dining room upon entry if You don't like too loud of music as the pianist playing can get very loud. The bar is located right by the pianist on the left side of dining room! This is the perfect spot to come for date night or with the family for celebratory dinners or just because. Also the patio seating is stunning with the waterfall wall and greenery. Also nice when it's a little chilly because they have above head warmers. I highly recommend Mastro's Steakhouse. If you haven't tried it yet, you definitely need to--and if you have, then you already know exactly what I'm talking about! Mastro's really has everything you want in a great dining experience: atmosphere, service, and incredible food. From the moment we arrived at the valet and were greeted by the host, we knew we were in for a great experience. Once we arrived at our table, we were immediately greeted by our server, Frank, who took the time to explain a little about the restaurant and offer us some drinks. One thing that really stood out to me--and something I believe many restaurants sometimes overlook--was that Frank specifically asked if we had any dislikes or food allergies that he and the kitchen should be aware of. We do have a few, so we explained them to him, and he made sure to take them into consideration throughout the meal. That kind of attention to detail matters. Frank gave us plenty of time to look over the menu, and we decided to start with the Wagyu carpaccio, followed by the oysters. Personally, I would have preferred a little less arugula with the carpaccio, but the oysters were incredibly fresh. Frank came back to check on us, and although we had just come from an event and weren't particularly hungry, those oysters definitely opened our appetite! We decided to go with the Chilean sea bass, based on Frank's recommendation. Let me just say--INCREDIBLE! The sear was excellent while still keeping that beautiful, buttery texture inside. I really appreciated the execution of the fish. The broccolini was a little overcooked for my taste, but the sea bass itself was one of the best I've had in quite a while. For dessert, we had a combination of different desserts, but there is one thing you absolutely need to try: the butter cake. I'm not even going to describe it. You just need to try it. The atmosphere was excellent. The music was at the perfect volume, and the sound of the waterfall added a special touch to the entire experience. Even the restrooms were fresh, clean, and well organized. We did have a small accident during service when some of the broccolini splashed onto my pants. The staff immediately offered to pay for the dry cleaning, which we genuinely appreciated, although we declined the offer. Accidents happen, and honestly, the overall experience was so good that it certainly didn't take away from our evening. The pricing is very reasonable for the quality of food, service, and overall experience that Mastro's provides. Scott walked us through the menus suggesting amazing items for our very impressive seafood tower. We all had steaks that were the BEST we have ever had. Once we arrived, our reservations were indicated for four instead of six, they were able to quickly accommodate us. When we first arrived, we had drinks at the bar with, sir Ivan. He was absolutely phenomenal, attentive, and definitely the go to bartender in that establishment. That man was absolutely breathtaking with the presentation of his cocktails, as well as knowledgeable with cocktails in general, and I cannot emphasize that enough. If you are ever at the bar, ask for Ivan! If you're seated, and you wanna cocktail, ask for Ivan, if he is there! Now, onto the entrées. My love had some steak, which I forgot to get a picture of it, with some lobster mac & cheese, we shared, as well as asparagus. Our server was amazing and very helpful. For starters we had calamari and wagyu sushi and my dad orders the French onion soup and let me tell you, by far the best French onion soup I have had. The broth was amazing and the cheese was so delicious, 10/10. It was my first time having the Wagyu sushi and it was really good. I also ordered a gimlet, one of the strongest and most delicious gimlet I have ever had. My sister and I split the 12oz bone in steak and we ordered cream of corn and spinach to share. My dad had the Chilean sea-bass. The steak was like butter and when I took the first bite, i was in heaven. It was cooked and seasoned perfectly. For dessert we had the crème brûlée and butter cake. Both were great, but, the butter cake stole the show. When I took the desired bite I was transported to my childhood and my grandmother's cake. This is a huge compliment. Once we walked inside and saw the waterfall feature outside on the patio, we requested to be seated there, and was accommodated. My meal was incredible and so was the ambiance. We got the bread basket for starters (the pretzel bread was my fave) and I ordered a pomegranate martini, which was perfectly made and enough was in the shaker for 2 drinks. For my entree, I went with the 8 oz filet, and the seasoning was incredible. I had ordered a side of truffle butter and honestly did not need it. My friend and I shared the asparagus and mac and cheese for sides. As a nice little birthday surprise, they came out with a delicious butter cake with a dollop of vanilla ice cream and freshly made whipped cream.
