I haven't have 煲仔饭 for super long time!! As a Cantonese, this rice dish always has a special place in my heart. When I was traveling to Toronto, this place caught my eyes (which was ascribed to how they cited Stephen Chow's movie). The waiter told me that it'd take 20 minutes. Since I was traveling alone, I set a timer and walked around the neighborhood during the wait time. Once the waiter saw that I'm back, he has the food ready. Their 肉饼 tastes very nice and authentic! It was perfectly seasoned. Beware if you want to order salted fish though.. it's really salty and smells quite strong. They also provided the 饭铲to help scraping the crispy rice on the bottom. They added plenty of oil on the bottom so it was easy to scrape them out. I liked the soup as well. It was very similar to what us Cantoneses make at home. Other than that, there was only one waiter and he was nice. The restaurant was small but decent. It doesn't smell weird and the tables weren't sticky. Also, as a petite spot in a low key sketchy location, their bathroom is relatively clean. All in all, I'm happy that I choice this restaurant and I look forward to bring my friends there.

Master Pot has got the authentic flavours down! I've been craving claypot rice and felt like all the options were only in markham and scaraborough. Enter Master Pot, easily accessed in the heart of Chinatown, and behold the incredible dish they serve up. They serve claypot rice with a variety of meats and sides, and they do it well with individual sized claypots. Of course they have preserved Chinese sausage, chicken and pork, and you can make tragically combination of pot you want. Add in your level of sauce and wow, for me it just tastes like nostalgia with the flavours of the sausage and chicken melding well with the sauce. The serving side is actually quite substantial so bring a large stomach. The star of claypot rice is the rice crust, which unfortunately did not accumulate much. The pots may not be heated enough to get to the point where they crust up, or perhaps the quality of the pots may need to improve. Overall I'd eat here again just for the flavour of the rice dish rather than the rice crust, but having that rice crust would make them 5 stars.

This Cantonese restaurant focuses on Claypot Rice bowls. They also have snacks and drinks. They are in the Dragon City Mall. They just opened on 2023-10-21. As an opening special, you get a free hot drink or pop for each claypot ordered. The vibe is interesting inside. They hang milk crates from the ceiling to use as light shades. We ordered the following: M7: Beef with Poached Egg on Rice ($14.99). M9: preserved Meat with Eel on Rice ($15.99). D4: Milk Tea ($2.49, special $0.00). D6: Ovaltine ($2.49, special $0.00). S5: Stuff Eggplants, Bell Pepper & Tofu ($8.99). This is traditionally called Stuffed Three Treasures. You can tell them how crispy you want the rice touching the pot. The ingredients were very good, including the snack we ordered. The chili oil is Hong Kong style, so it isn't as spicy as other countries' chili oil. The seats along the walls have electrical plugs under the seat. This restaurant is owned by the same company that owns Light Cate. There is free WiFi (also free WiFi from the mall). The restaurant is wheelchair accessible. There are separate male/female washrooms, but they are not wheelchair accessible. There is paid neighbourhood street parking and a paid parking lot. There is one high chair for little children. Review 2023-349

Pork hash, spare ribs, and mushroom topping. The perfect trio imo

A wonderful find! I chose spareribs, pork hash and mushrooms for my toppings and omg it was sooo tasty. The meat was tender and perfectly seasoned. The rice came out perfect and the crunchy bottom was just the icing on top. I would definitely come back if I'm ever in Toronto again! The ladies working there are also super sweet

This place is quite good. Reminds me of a home cooked meal from my grandparents back when I was little. They had a claypot. Prices are quite reasonable and the portion size is quite large. I do suggest eating at the restaurant. I don't know how the food especially the rice would taste if you do take out. They have a selection of good options and you can easily create your own Clay pot if you are not happy with what they have. They are located upstairs in the dragon mall. Service is good too. Cash or debit only.

M1: BBQ pork with salted egg

Came here and got the M1: BBQ Pork with rice and salted egg (15.99). It comes with a soup as well if you dine in. The food was pretty good overall, the rice was crispy but not burnt. The dish was a bit on the oily side but I think that's just the nature of clay pots since they need the oil for the food to not stick. There's a good amount of meat and some vegetables. Service was good. Expect to wait around 15 - 20 minutes for the food. I believe there is also a cash discount. There are some condiments on the side (sugar, soy sauce and chili oil). The restaurant is on the second floor of the mall and there are bathrooms here.

I ordered takeout here twice, each time the food spilled and the second time only gave me half the order

Chopfire - Signature Spicy Grilled BBQ Fish ($39.95)

The modern, stylish interior immediately caught my eye and I couldn't resist taking a few photos…read morewith friends. Every shot looked like a magazine spread. We went at lunchtime but ended up having a full dinner. The meat and seafood were fresh and plentiful. My favorites were the cowboy ribs, mustard octopus, cold noodles, and the roasted pineapple at the end, so juicy and sweet. We finished with coffee pudding and caramel pudding and the coffee pudding was surprisingly delicious. If you love BBQ, this place is a must try. I really hope they open a spot closer to Markham.

The posters outside caught my eye, and I decided to come back with a group of three friends to try it out. We came a bit late around 8 PM, and most of the fish were already sold out except the original. We ended up ordering the Signature Spicy Grilled BBQ Fish ($40), a whole fish served bubbling hot with three toppings (potatoes, spam, and lotus root). You can choose between catfish and turbot, we chose the turbot fish. It looked extremely spicy, but the spice level was actually perfect. It was a bit on the oily side, but pairing it with rice balanced it out nicely. The fish was very tender and buttery, everything tasted amazing! We also ordered the Stir-Fried Egg with Tomato. The eggs were soft, the tomato sauce was rich. Not to mention the portion size was huge, we even had leftovers after eating until we were full. The restaurant itself was spacious, clean, and had plenty of seating. I think they were doing some sort of promotion so they gave us a $25 off coupon, though it expired pretty quickly so we didn't get to use it. I'd definitely come back for that grilled fish.

The noodles were perfectly textured, crunchy, and bouncy. The soup was made according to HK standards - the proper way with dried shrimp flavor. It was rich and strongly flavored that way. According to the HK expert, mom, that is the proper and legit way. 100% approved. The price is right on point for a quick, simple meal. The waitress was straightforward, and the tea is not an extra charge. Just be careful as the tea is super, super hot. The noodle shop is my cup of tea as I'm familiar with places like this. I love it. It is the Chinatown feel. Lots of older folk eating there and not in a rush. They're reading the newspaper or chatting away. So don't be too worried if it's not the cleanest place as everything else more than makes up for it. The food is legit; the environment is legit. Check, and check.

You can only pay cash which is strange. I've never seen that anywhere else. The Bill had five dollars added. I couldn't understand why the bill was so high then I found out that they decided to add the tip to the bill before they gave it to me, but didn't tell me, so I could've paid the tip twice and not known it. We will never set foot in this place again. I am forced to give it one star it deserves none.

From the moment we walked in, the space already set the tone.. dark, dramatic, elegant, and beautifully designed without feeling overly stiff. It has that upscale energy that makes dinner feel like an occasion before you've even ordered anything. Food-wise, there was a lot to love. The signature apple wood roasted Peking duck was definitely a highlight, especially with the tableside carving, which made the whole experience feel even more polished and memorable. The skin had that beautiful lacquered finish, and the duck was rich, flavorful, and very satisfying. We also ordered a few larger dishes for the table, and I really appreciated how everything still felt refined without losing that comforting, indulgent side of Chinese dining. Some dishes leaned rich and luxurious, others were lighter and more aromatic, so the meal never felt repetitive. Service was another standout. Attentive without hovering, smooth without being too formal.. exactly the kind of service you hope for in a restaurant like this. Overall, Mott 32 is absolutely the kind of place I'd come back to for a special dinner, celebration, or just one of those nights when you want the meal to feel a little more elevated than usual.

Finally back for dim sum…read more First off, they need to fix their reservation system. Don't accept 1:45pm reservations if the dining room closes at 2pm. Also, when we call to check if dim sum is being served, it makes sense to inform us of the dining room closure instead of having us come in anyway. We settled for eating in the lounge which ended up being good because bartender, Aiki?, was excellent as our server. Really great. Ordered the following: King prawn Har gow: standard. Not worth the premium Mott charges. Miso black cod dumpling: not good. Wouldn't order again Shredded Peking Duck Spring Roll, Sliced Vegetable : Excellent. We loved this! Nice and crunchy. Delicious duck inside. Good vinegar dipping sauce. Good volume Hot & Sour Iberico Pork Shanghainese Soup Dumplings: Fantastic and unique. The dumplings don't really need dipping sauce since inside there is a hot and sour soup along with pork. These are unique and delicious. Fried Wagyu beef taro croquette : pretty good but really tasted like a Jamaican patty Cold noodle with shredded duck : very generous with meat. Honestly a lot more than any other restaurant that serves this. To be fair no one charges this much either so it should. Flavour could be stronger but certainly decent. Fresh Mango, Coconut, Glutinous Rice Roll: nice fresh dessert. Our favourite. Frozen xiao long bao with chocolate and nut: Tastes like a mochi. Not bad. Dragonball Zen - fun name. Delicious drink. Jasmine Dragon Ball Infused Tanqueray Gin / Peach Liquor Lime / Rose Water / Mint / Seltzer Over $200 for this meal before tip. It's premium an debatable if with it. Will be back but just occasionally.
