Went for some late night ramen and sushi. Great place for affordable late night food to fill your craving. The ramen is a little overly spicy and not very flavourful. I think it just needs more salt. But the sushi and tempura were good. Parking is a little tight as it's shared space with multiple other stores.

My boyfriend and I wanted to eat something but it was already 12am, so our options were limited. However, we saw this place was opened until 1am, but what made me hesitant was the rating -- 3.5/5. However, the vibes of the place was nice and had a pretty Japanese style interior. The woman who served my boyfriend and I was nice and made sure we were comfortable. My boyfriend and I ordered the sushi rolls and their presentations were amazing!! It looked so professionally done. I was hesitant that since it's late that they might be tired and won't try as much, but the effort is definitely there. The taste was good too! The crunchy rolls had a nice crunch and they were all flavorful. It didn't taste bland at all. So, I'm confused why this place only has 3.5 star because the ratings should be up there!

It's open until pretty late which is convenient. The tonkotsu ramen was decent and well priced.

I've been here 3 times now and each visit was excellent - I have nothing bad to say. Everything was perfection! The staff is super friendly and very good at recommending dishes - they're also efficient! They will often check up on your during your dining experience The food is superb! It tastes as good as it looks. It's a bit on the higher ends but it's oh-so worth it! I've tried sushi, their appetizers, and their kitchen dishes and I've never been disappointed! My favourite sushi roll has got to be the lobster roll! Very tasty, filling, and eye catching! The other thing I like about this place is that I can get a pitcher of Sapporo for only $12 on any given day! I highly recommend this place and would gladly come back anytime :)

Very nice interior with a great ambiance! The food was reasonably priced with large portion sizes. We ordered the beef yaki udon and spicy tonkastu ramen which were both very tasty. The ramen was decently spicy but could have used a bit more meat toppings. The beef yaki udon was super filling and tasted delicious. Overall great place and would go back to try other dishes!

Masa Japanese Restaurant is located on the corner of Hemlock and West Broadway on the 2nd floor, overlooking the small mini mall below. I fondly remember having our first Japanese restaurant date at a now defunct Japanese restaurant in the same location many moons ago. There's a good variety of dishes on the menu so we decided to go with the Teriyaki Course lunch special ($12.95) and added an order of Gomaae ($3.50), 3-in-1 Agedashi Tofu ($5.95), and Assorted Sashimi ($19.95). One of the weird things is that they brought out the Teriyaki Course lunch special piecemeal... and not all at the same time. The lunch special comes with miso soup, sunomono, prawn skewer, and 3 side dishes consisting of pickled radish and seaweed. The miso soup and 3 side dishes were the first to arrive at the table and then, over time, additional parts of the meal showed up like the sunomono and then the prawn skewer. The actual entrée was the very last thing to arrive much later on. I would have preferred if the lunch course was brought out all together (or at least close to the same time). The Agedashi Tofu came to the table in between the lunch course and consisted of 3 different preparations: Original Deep Fried Tofu with traditional sauce, Diavolo with hot sauce, and Hawaiian with fruit. The Diavolo (I thought they misspelled this and meant "diablo" which is Spanish for "devil" but apparently "diavolo" is Italian for the same word) seemed to be topped with a Korean-style hot sauce and the Hawaiian was topped with small mango pieces. Overall, I thought the deep-fried tofu needed a bit of work because the exterior of the tofu was too chewy instead of being lightly crisp. The Spinach Gomaae with sesame sauce was the next item to arrive and was pretty good. The Assorted Sashimi was the next dish to arrive to the table and consisted of 4pc salmon, 4pc tuna, 2pc wild salmon, 2pc hokkigai, 2pc tako, and 2pc of either tai or madai (not really sure). Aside from the octopus, which was a bit too chewy, the rest of the sashimi seemed pretty good. The chicken teriyaki finally arrived at the table and was served on top of a bed of shredded cabbage and carrots with a scoop of rice. While the chicken lacked a crispy skin, the chicken itself wasn't too bad. The sweet teriyaki sauce was slathered over the chicken pieces and went well with the plain white rice. Overall, most of the food dishes were okay but nothing to "wow" you.

My favourite sushi restaurant in town. Lots of selections to choose from. Before the pandemic, it was one of the cheaper sushi places for a very good quality. Since then, prices have gone up to match other places, but the quality has stayed the same. The restaurant is quite spacious with separated tables, even before the pandemic, giving you more privacy. The place seems to like AC, so I've always found the place cold all year round. Great service. Since the pandemic, weve been doing more take out instead, but still go, especially when we want to take family or friends out for sushi.

It was a comfort sushi place. The sushi is rolled nicely but the ramen was really bland lol i thought i was still in the uk. The sushi well just okay more like a comfort sushi place. Eat at 9pm-2am there is a selection of cheaper options. Well at least it opens till late so you know where to go when you are hungry at night. Cheers!

Don't get why the high reviews/ratings. Thought the place was mediocre. I asked at the start if there's egg and pork with my ramen. Waitress said all their ramen noodle had them. So I thought I'll be full afterwards. Ramen bowl had two micro ultra thin slices of pork and half a egg. The noodles where tasty. Not worth coming back. *Ordered Shio Ramen

This Japanese establishment serves a whole bunch of food options for the whole family. My family ordered a ton of food for a really great price. Lots of sushi and teriyaki options to choose. The server was very kind and the food was very well plated. We will definitely be coming back for more sushi roll options.

Extensive menu, solid options. Not the greatest sushi I've had in Vancouver - that title would go to Ajisai. Masa's is serviceable - fairly inexpensive and fulfills a craving. Also, there's free street parking nearby for those who need it. I ordered a few of my favorite nigiri: tamago, salmon, unagi, toro, amaebi, uni, and hotate. I also got an Alaska Roll in case the nigiri weren't filling enough - a good call on my part. My boyfriend picked up the Nabeyaki Udon, and my friend got the Tonkatsu Curry. The udon was just okay, with tasty broth but obviously overcooked noodles. Not sure we'd come back if we were in town. There are other options I'd like to try.

I passed by Granville and Broadway last week and saw a big banner for Masa Japanese is opened. I checked on Yelp and only found good 2 reviews but no food picture posted. Sure, let me check it out and take some picture for them. Also, I would love to have sushi in hot day. They're not busy when we arrived on Sunday 7ish. We got seated in booth with painted Japanese peony flower petition around us. Not too classy but nice. They served simple menu of raw and cooked sushi as well as other hot Japanese dishes with great prices! The owner ( I guess) was so friendly and he offered a complementary apple juice to my friend's daughter. Hamachi Sashimi - It's good and fresh. Mango California Roll & California roll - Mango sauce was tasty just a bit at sweet side. Caterpillar roll - If you're super fan of avocado fan, you have to order this. Beef Tataki - It's mediocre but ok. Chicken Udon - I rarely found 2 pcs of chicken in udon. My friend's daughter said she could eat this every day! Thumbs up! Chopped Scallop cone - It's ok, a bit too much sauce with chopped scallop and it turned seaweed soft quickly. Tobiko, Ika, Saba nigari - All of it were great! The rolls were perhaps a bit heavy on the rice side of things, but that might work for someone looking to fill up more on sushi alone. Apparently, we over-ordered and no room for dessert. Food: 3 star Service: 4 star Price: 5 star (it totally cost under $60 for all the above food) I definitely return before the price back to market price in that location.

Ordered chicken teriyaki bento box, it was not good. The service was bad, food practically inedible. Would not eat here again.

Steep as it is, I decided I wanted a "quick little sushi lunch with a view", and a quick little sushi lunch with a few is exactly what I received. Although I don't recommend it, I walked right in from the street, no reservation, and was seated at the bar (in pretty casual street clothes I may add). I enjoyed a premium sake flight (which was fine...just fine), an old fashioned served with the perfect accompanying dark chocolate, and a good amount of sushi including their signature aburi style sushi in flight form and nigiri tuna flight (bluefin, chutoro, otoro). After visiting Japan last December, I'm a bit of an otoro snob but I have to hand it to them, all three of these cuts were perfect. The accompanying rice, perfection. The quality of the fish, divine. The view was the cherry on top of this experience. This will certainly be a spot I revisit next time I'm in Vancouver.

Michelin starred quality in their service by how they explained the menu, brought out the food, came back around to refill waters. Just top notch service and elegantly so. The food was good but not of value. Their lunch set was a good introductory to what they offer. I enjoyed the food for its flavours and presentation but I thought that it was a bit overpriced. Don't get me wrong, it's beautiful, fresh and definitely elevated, but it was $50 for 10pcs of sushi, 2 appetizer sized samples of their appetizer or entree dishes, and miso soup (which we did not get and didn't realize till much later in the day). If you're wanting an upscale experience (and portion) of good quality food or wanting to impress other parties, then this is a nice spot. For regular eats, it's a bit too luxurious to be a casual thing in my opinion. The ambiance is nice and calm. They have a patio, which has a meh view overlooking the harbor, but beware of a breezy day. It will catch a bit of a wind tunnel. They have heaters and blankets but the heaters don't really reach unless you're sitting next to it.

At the start, guests sit in silence as a black screen conceals the chefs. You see their shadows moving behind it. A bell rings, the screen lifts, and the performance begins. Dinner is a 25+ course experience priced at $325 per person. It's undeniably a splurge, but for a milestone celebration, it feels justified. Courses arrive one by one, never rushed. The service team moves seamlessly in the background, refilling water and attending to drinks (available as an add-on) without disrupting the flow. The finale is a matcha ceremony, whisked in front of you with the same quiet precision that defines the evening. When the final sip is taken, the bell chimes once more, the chefs and staff bow, and the screens close.
