Is this related/affiliated to Marugame Udon in Honolulu?

    Yes they are, same place

Is the tempura batter made with egg/milk?

    Just tempura flour and water

Are there any vegetarian or vegan options? It seems they all use bonito in the dashi?

Hey Katie, great question, I believe the bukkake udon would be vegetarian since in its description it does not state any meat used to make the broth. Hope this answers your question!

Just wondering if anyone knows if this location has "curbside service"?

Unfortunately no. They are set way back from the street. So you have to park and then walk.

Are their musubis and onigiris back?

I didn't see any of those when I was there last weekend. Their selections are limited due to Covid

Do they have an outdoor setup that is protected in case of rain?

The outdoor seating has a canopy or umbrellas over the seating to shield the sun from diners. In the event of rain, there is not enough seating enclosed to protect diners from getting wet.

Is this place open during this pandemic?

Yes I went there last Friday and they are open. You may want to call ahead to order or reserve some time to wait for your order, as with the new health practices in place orders will take 15-20 minutes to make.

Anyone know if they're open on New Year's Day?

What's the difference between curry udon and the curry nikutama?

The curry udon doesn't have meat and the curry nikutama has beef in it.

How's the Red Cayenne Chicken Udon?

    Are they open today 10/11/19?

They did on soft opening on 9/24/19 where they are only open for dinner (4pm to 10pm) until 10/28/19. Their grand opening will be on 10/28/19.

    How long the queue is?

    Tuesday 5:00pm = 5/10 minute wait Friday 6:15pm = 1 hr wait Avoid 6/7 pm if possible

    Do they have vegan/vegetarian options?

Based on traditional udon recipes, the kama age should be vegan, though the dipping sauce may not be (traditionally contains dashi, bonito fish flakes). I imagine you could supplement this well with tempura veggies or the fried tofu.…

    What are their hours?

Right now, since they're having their soft opening, the hours are: Monday - Saturday = 4:00pm -…

The food was full of flavor, and the quality was just as good as dining in. My order was accurate, the portions were satisfying, and the pickup and delivery process was smooth. I'll definitely be ordering from KoJa Kitchen again when I'm craving a delicious, convenient meal. This version is suitable for posting on Caviar, Google, or Yelp. Check out the Soy Garlic Wings.

It's packed with grilled chicken, rice, fresh vegetables, and you can even add an egg for some extra protein. It checks all the boxes for a meal that's filling, nutritious, and still full of flavor. The service has consistently been friendly and efficient, even during busier times. My food has always come out quickly, and the staff has been welcoming whenever I've stopped by. The restaurant itself has a clean, modern, and casual atmosphere that makes it a great spot whether you're grabbing a quick lunch or sitting down to enjoy your meal. Overall, it's one of my favorite places when I want something healthy without sacrificing taste. 10/10 as always.

I did attempt to make it from scratch once, but that's a story for another time. The chef just recently accommodated their menu so the barbecue items with rice can now be made gluten-free! It was the most succulent pork I've ever had! Both the chicken and the char sui were Michelin level, nice presentation (yes yogurt plate swoosh), in a humble setting, with super nice staff, and so delicious! Be sure to get the green beans too!

Char siu plate is just ok for the price tag you think it is plated better than a bowl. Chicken plate was not good at all. Not sure why it is sour. Trying to be Indian curry but not?? My favorite was Steam White Rice was fabulous legit chewy good. Price point should have been full service but it was hole in wall. Maybe this is made with the seasoning for the demographic and clientele . They don't know any difference?? Super nice guy taking order. The place doesn't really have a good flow... Bad feng shui entrance and operations. Sorry but try a few fans and purifier will definitely improve any dining experience. I might give extra star

This might work well in a bustling location full of non-exempt office workers who have strict limits on their lunch hours. However, I decided to try this particular spot and arrived when there was not a single customer. Then a deranged homeless woman came in. Fortunately I was able to dodge her as I was reviewing the giant backlit menu. I didn't think anything about the emptiness of the space until my order was ready. I decided to try the $13.99 Samgyeopal Ssam-jang, which featured grilled pork belly mixed with veggie soybean paste topped with fried onion, roasted seaweed, and sesame oil, all over rice (Photo 7). The bowl was a strange contrast of textures. Flavor wise, there were more misses than hits. The pork belly was overcooked with the chewy meat rendered almost inedible. The rice was weirdly mushy like it was sitting in lukewarm water far too long. The rest of the ingredients were nondescript. Definitely a hard pass on this bowl in the future. The only reason I'm not leaving one star for this business is that I felt bad for the one soft-spoken server who had the temerity to deal with the unrelenting rantings of the homeless woman. FOOD - 1.5 stars...pre-made ingredients kill the real flavors expected from the bowl AMBIANCE - 2 stars...certainly spacious but nothing cozy in here SERVICE - 2 stars...quiet until she had to confront the woman TOTAL - 2 stars...I was left more steamed than simmered RELATED - Exploring Berkeley?
