So pleasantly surprised to find this restaurant inside the Westin. We were staying there and didn't want to leave the hotel for dinner. My husband had the Seabass everything was prepared. so beautiful and tasted so delicious. this was my favorite restaurant in the Westin hotel. Went for dinner last night..Hostess was extremely rude. Restaurant was completey empty , and open table noted they had openings ,she told us to come back one hour and half later ..We are locals and I am involved with our HOA committee and will make sure our community knows not to go spend money at Marssa and get treated like second class citizens. We came here for dinner. We booked a table at 5:30pm and checked in a couple of minutes early. Food was really good. The interior of the restaurant was chic and the terrace outside has one of the best views I've seen in Las Vegas so far, and I'm a local. The only thing we did not like much was the male server who treated us like he was in a rush to catch a game or something. We felt so rushed with our order and we had to keep asking for a bit more time to decide. It was our first time there and the place was not very busy. Also, he just kept talking directly to my partner, as if I wasn't on the table. He's quite snobbish and rude, but maybe he was just having a bad day. The staff and service were friendly and accommodating and went above and beyond beyond to make sure we were completely happy. But the meal? I've eaten at high end restaurants in NYC, and I have to say that the quality of the entire dining experience was exceptional. It was one of the best meals we've had. The 3 stars is for the dessert, whiskey and the service. Can't give 5 because the food was kinda generic. It's a restaurant inside of the Westin hotel that serves seafood and steak. It has an Asian flare to it so they have a lot of sushi and sashimi. The selection of whiskey was by far some of the best I had. You get 1.5oz per order but that is more than enough. I had the Habiki, it goes down smooth and doesn't have any burn. The best part was being the youngest person in the room and all the older people stared at me. It's nice to be young money. read more

So I had finally made my way over to Lake Las Vegas and decided to make a weekend out of it by staying at the Westin and checking out the local sights and of course Lake Las Vegas itself. The options were still pretty bare given we were still living in a COVID world and part of that led to limited joints being open. I was a bit skeptical of an Asian restaurant in a hotel, but the reviews looked good so decided to give it a whirl. The service here was standard good for a restaurant. The ambiance was also nice as it is a hotel restaurant after all. The menu is broken into appetizers, salads, an omakase section, steaks/chops, fish and signature dishes, and finally including some sushi options. A lot of the menu was definitely crafted with a mass majority in mind so authenticity was a bit questionable on certain items but all good. We ordered a few items including an item from the steak section, some fried rice, and a few appetizers. All in all, the food was just OK. Definitely wasn't authentic and the price point did seem high although I understand it's a hotel restaurant. I think its fine to cover some of the basics and probably is a good "Asian-y" menu to suit multiple tastes. read more

It was 7:10 p.m. and we were told they could not get us in until 8 p.m. There were at least 40 empty tables, so we were quite confused. Since I was staying at the Westin at Lake Las Vegas, I decided to have dinner here with a group of my friends. The restaurant looks very chic with modern decor, and the floor to ceiling windows would have beautiful lake views during the day (I'd imagine) but we went at night when it was too dark to see outside. However, the chandelier fixtures were dazzling enough to make up for that. Unfortunately this was the highlight of the restaurant. The food was extremely mediocre for its price point, and the service left something to be desired. Despite getting a personal voicemail from the restaurant manager confirming my reservation the day before, I not only saw no sign of him (Tyson) anywhere, but our server made A HUGE DEAL out of insisting that she "had to get the manager's help to ring everything in" because we didn't want to split the checks equally at the end-- who splits equally instead of paying for what they actually eat??? This is 2024. Splitting checks shouldn't be such a big hassle that the guests are shamed when they do it. This isn't The Strip, and we came here specifically to avoid that sort of entitled bougie attitude. Not sure if it was the employee not wanting to do her job, or the manager Tyson's fault for having some sort of ridiculous policy to follow, but I don't care. It soured the entire experience and interrupted my fun moments with friends. I would not come here again, and it's only the promptness of the service that gets the 2 stars instead of 1. I wasn't the only one disappointed with my meal. I didn't even take pictures, that's how unimpressed I was with the whole ordeal. read more

Marssa is the real only game in this town as the Westin Lake Las Vegas is somewhere out there where you think it is, and then it's further. I had no idea when I was booked into this hotel where it was. Driving from the Las Vegas airport I thought we were in Utah and I didn't even bring my sHowever, the grounds are set against the lake and is very pretty. Marssa is one long rectangular room flanked on one side with high cathedral arched windows with great views of the lake and beyond and on the other side is the long open kitchen. I ordered a pot of green tea & decided to go with sushi in this Steak and sushi joint. Ordering was difficult as I'm gluten intolerant. I did order the Yellowtail Carpaccio with a lemongrass chimichurri sauce, chili oil & scallions and Honey Walnut Shrimp. The Walnut Shrimp is made with rice flour so it was GF. The chimichurri sauce gave the yellowtail a nice kick and the walnuts and shrimp was not too sweet with a great crunch. Each dish was extremely tasty and the quiet solitude of dining in this spacious room with the lake views enhanced the experience. The 5 pieces each since I had no rice wasn't extremely filling but it was enough to satisfy me on this culinary journey to a different part of Las Vegas. I decided to check out the dessert menu which is doubly difficult for anyone with gluten intolerance. The only dessert gluten free is the Matcha and Raspberry Panna Cotta except for ice cream so I splurged since I had the room to do so and being seemingly abandoned in this oasis, what else am I going to do? The Panna Cotta arrived with a white and dark chocolate stick and a creamy Panna cotta pudding with a delicious green matcha and raspberry filling under the creme. I savored this dish for as long as I possibly could. Excellent service by a friendly server added to the meal. First off, a very personable server, "Brendan" started the experience after being very politely seated by the hostess. The place is open and inviting, clean, and surrounded by large picture window views, so there's really not a bad table to be had here. The menu looked great with choices of two cuts of Wagyu (NY strip) or a ribeye. I was going to get the Wagyu ribeye, but wait... they've got black cod Misoyaki on the menu. It's been a long time since I've seen it/had it, so I opted for that. I also ordered a sashimi salad as an appetizer, which came highly recommended by my server. The salad, while attractively presented, was not without its problems: The spring mix was good, as was the ahi. However, the salmon was a bit fishy, which I confirmed by trying it... twice. Yup salmon was sub optimal. No big deal, I put it to the side. Ahhhh... the black cod was EXACTLY as it should be. If you've tasted this delicacy, properly prepared, you know what I mean! If you ever dine here, I strongly recommend it! You'll be happy! For desert, I ordered mango mochi. While the presentation was attractive, unfortunately, they apparently ran out of the mochi I ordered, substituting 1/2 of it with green tea (matcha) flavored mochi. Since I don't consume coffee or tea for religious reasons, this was a bit of a letdown. Has they let me know before it was served, I could have changed the order. Oh well. I did end up mentioning it to the server, and... FIXED IT! I Here's the summary: Service: 5 stars Ambience: 5 stars Main course: 5 stars Both sides: 4 stars Unfortunately, I can't add up those numbers and get to 5, so it must be a lower score than that. Let me start by saying, I am obsessed with miso soup. It's my go-to litmus test for every Japanese restaurant I visit. If the miso's off, the trust is broken. But Marssa? Marssa has officially ruined me for all other miso soups. After 40 years of miso-sipping bliss, this was hands down the best bowl I've ever had. Forget top restaurant in 2024--this soup alone deserves its own award. Now, onto the chimichurri yellowtail. Chimichurri and sushi? I'll admit, I was skeptical. But, oh my taste buds, it worked! The tangy herbs mixed with that buttery yellowtail were a culinary plot twist I never saw coming. Speaking of genius combinations, their Cowboy Up Wagyu roll? It's like the sushi version of a rugged, mysterious cowboy sweeping you off your feet, spurs and all. Rich, tender, smoky and bold. And the Tiger Roll? Let's just say it pounces with flavor. It's fierce, fresh, and a little wild. And then the wasabi mashed potatoes. Who knew potatoes could have such sass? The perfect blend of creamy and spicy, they're like the side dish that steals the spotlight from the entrée. And dessert? Oh, they didn't stop there. The yuzu pineapple cheesecake was a revelation--a perfect balance of savory and sweet with a tropical flair. Marssa isn't just a restaurant; it's a place where culinary boundaries are respectfully annihilated. Every dish is an adventure, and by the end of the meal, you're not just full--you're inspired. Hands down, one of the best meals of my life. I would also like to say a very special shout out to their hostess, Zoie, who was more than a hostess. She deserves a raise after what I observed last night. Never in my life have I seen a hostess so hands on- she was seating guests, picking up dirty dishes from tables, scrubbing crumbs from table clothes, grabbing checks from guests to make sure that their bill was collected and paid in a timely fashion. Went to Marissa's tonight with a group of friends. Service was outstanding. To look out and see the sunset was amazing. Food was great, asked for a bowl of ice cream with caramel sauce. THE ICE CREAM CAME ON THE SMALLEST LITTLE AISAN DISH I HAVE EVER SEEN!! I asked the very nice server "is this a joke?" He replied the "new" food and beverage manager (Rich) is "cutting costs!" What? During our staycation we had dinner one night at the fine dining option in the Westin, Marssa. This is a Japanese / Steakhouse fusion restaurant that over looks Lake Las Vegas. As you look out the sun sets on the other side of the Westin so you get a nice look of the sun hitting the lake and homes across the way. We were fortunate enough to have two people wait on us, a trainer and trainee. This made for a perfect anything we needed seating. You can order the specialty cocktails off the menu or you can basically order anything since the hotel bar is right above which makes the options pretty open to your imagination. We started with a eel roll and honey walnut shrimp for our appetizers. Both of these were quite good. For our entrees I ordered the rib eye which was tasty but very thin and a side of chicken fried rice. Where she ordered wok plate with a California roll on the side. Everything was very good to this point. For dessert we ordered malasadas and chocolate lava cake with ice cream. Both of these hit the spot. I think this restaurant is good but what you get for what you pay seems to be a bit off but that's fine dining in a resort hotel. Marssa is back open and have been remodeled inside the Westin hotel Lake Las Vegas. Ambience and food is wonderful. Had a really nice relaxing dinner. It's japanese food with a hawaiian twist, if you like Roy's, you will like this place better. We ordered quite a bit of food. Sashimi is great quality, along with presentation. We started with tuna, yellowtail sashimi. Then the grilled octopus which was nice and tender and flavorful. Best octopus i've had in a while. And the honey walnut lobster which was really exciting, because the lobster was in huge pieces! I think it was an entire lobster in my appetizer. Entree's we both picked the laulau seabass because we love hawaiian fusion food. Don't let the laulau scare you off. It's seabass steamed in banana leaves aka lau lau style. It was beautiful cooked and the banana chutney brought me to a tropical vacation. The mushroom side is a must try with a gourmet selection of mushrooms. Desserts were on point and you can't go wrong with whatever you choose. Heck, even if you had dinner already and are wondering what to do at the westin at night, just come in for dessert. We have the pineapple cheesecake, which was light but packed with flavor. Lots of texture elements which made each bite a fun adventure. The strawberry matcha panna cotta i could eat over and over. Great strawberry and they didn't skimp on the matcha flavor. Definitely felt like hawaiian royalty eating the gold flaked raspberries. If you enjoy whisky, there is an extremely large selection of japanese whisky available. There is Nikka, suntory hibiki, yamazaki, akashi, kikori, komatagake (i have not seen a larger selection of this brand in las vegas), kaiyo, ichiro, iwai and others. The service was great, waitress made us feel special and carried a nice conversation as she continued to check back on us. The appetizers and salads were yummy but the steaks are Horrible!!! My husband got a Kobe Rib-eye but it couldn't have been authentic Kobe because it was soooo chewy. Not the texture that we are used to with Kobe steaks. I got a New York steak style steak and mine was just as bad, not tender at all. I like fat in steaks but not for 80% of the actual steak to be like that.... Not worth $85. I also ordered a couple glasses of white wine (just me). So with the drinks, appetizer, salad, sides and entrees.... The bill came out to $400. Price is not an issue for us but not when the food is bad. The entree is what killed the experience for both of us, everything else was great otherwise I would have given 1 lower star. read more
