Welcome to Desimone's! The restaurant is located in the Railroad Pass Casino in Boulder City about 20-25 minutes from the center of Las Vegas. It is all highway though. There is a Restaurant.com certificate you can buy for $50 and get $50 off so take advantage of that. The minimum purchase is $100. For my first drink, I'm having the Underground Manhattan made with orange-infused whiskey, sweet vermouth and orange bitters. It's not super strong but it will pass. They use a few above average-sized ice cubes, which is nice, but the single large ice cube is the better choice. It's not a huge pour either. Decent garnish. For $10, this isn't bad. This place has a 1030's feel to it including the appearance and music. The immediately serve you a glass of complementary ice water (which is filtered). They also bring out the complementary bread and whipped butter. There are actually three types of breads. For my first item, I'm having a bowl of tomato basil soup. Tomato basil soup is a flavorful and versatile dish, often made with tomatoes, fresh basil, onions, garlic, and broth. It can be prepared with fresh or canned tomatoes and can be made creamy with heavy cream or dairy-free by using milk, coconut milk, or a dairy-free alternative. The soup is typically pureed for a smooth texture and is delicious served with grilled cheese, crusty bread, or a side salad. This is yummy! It's nice and hot too. There quite a bit of basil in this too. For my salad, I'm having a Caesar Side Salad (light on cheese and dressing). This is made with tossed chopped romaine lettuce, house croutons, freshly grated Romano cheese and Caesar dressing. This was made just the o asked. Good job! The bottom of the salad is a whole romaine lettuce leaf. That's new. For my entree, I'm having the Salmon Pomodoro which is grilled salmon topped with a spinach pomodoro sauce and served with a side of sun-dried tomato polenta. Polenta is a dish made from boiled cornmeal, originating from Northern Italy. It can be served as a warm, creamy porridge, often topped with sauces or cheese, or allowed to cool and then baked, fried, or grilled. Polenta's texture varies based on the grind of the cornmeal--coarser grinds result in a firmer, more textured polenta, while finer grinds create a smoother, creamier dish. Pomodoro sauce is a simple Italian tomato sauce made primarily from tomatoes, olive oil, garlic, and fresh basil. The flavor comes from sautéing garlic in olive oil, adding the tomatoes, and simmering with basil. While onions are often included, they are sometimes omitted for a purer tomato taste. This salmon dish is good! The salmon has nice outer crunch and is cooked perfectly. I love the pomodoro sauce and polenta! For my sides, I'm having steamed broccoli, sautéed mushrooms (domestic and portabella mushrooms sautéed in olive oil and garlic) and meatballs (two jumbo housemate meatballs with their own marinara sauce and Romano cheese). The meatballs are good with a nice crust. Broccoli is perfect. The mushrooms have a lot of flavor. For my last drink, I'm having the 1930 French 75 made with Bombay Sapphire gin, limoncello and champagne. It's quite good and much stronger than the last drink. For dessert, I'm having the creme brûlée. Crème brûlée is a rich custard dessert with a hard, brittle layer of caramelized sugar on top. It is made from a simple base of cream, egg yolks, sugar, and vanilla, which is baked and then chilled. The signature topping is created by sprinkling sugar on the chilled custard and caramelizing it with a kitchen torch or broiler just before serving. This came out quick! Nice blueberry garnish. Two years ago, we took my father, 90 years old, to your steakhouse for his birthday. There were 7 of us and dad specifically asked to go there because of the first experience that we had. He loved the food and had a great time. This gathering was much different than the first. Since it's been two years, I don't remember a lot other than the fact that it took hours, as in more than 2 hours, for the entire dinner. The servers and busser were great, but there is only so much they can do when there is no food to serve. See the review with Sue B if you want more specifics. This last year, we decided to give it another try on Christmas. My father is now 92 and my mother is in advanced stages of ALzheimer's. We made our reservations for 7:30 and when we get there, the hostess told us that we would have to wait. She was very pleasant and apologetic. She kept us posted and when she finally sat us down 30 minutes later, she thanked us for our patience and told us that she would talk to the server about taking 20% off the bill. It went downhill from there. My mom sat down and when she went to move her chair in, it wouldn't move close enough to the table. The table was broken and the arms on the chairs were hitting it, preventing her from moving forward. The server from another table came over and opened the folded leaf part, which then wouldn't stay up straight. So they stacked menus on the arms on either side of her to keep the table straight. It was ridiculous and in hindsight, we should have just changed spots with her.    Everything took forever. We got drinks quickly and some bread, but then we waited. Finally we were able to place an order, where we were told the list of all the things that were no longer available. Fortunately, only a few of the things we wanted were on that list. I was the only one who ordered a salad, which came quickly. Then we waited again. Drinks ran out as we waited over an hour for our dinner. We sat at 8pm and received our dinner at 9:14. As we were waiting, we were able to see another table receive food they didn't order. They asked for the manager, who looked like the manager from Denny's the way she was dressed.  They received two orders of the replacement food. In the end, they had so much left over food, they left with two giant bags of food. Another table that was sat right before us, who were gamblers and had a comp for the restaurant, received their food almost immediately. They ordered, got their dinner and dessert and left before we even started. As time ticked by, I was struggling to keep my parents oblivious to the wait. Mom started to feel trapped in her chair because of the stacks of menus on either side of her. We finally got our food, which was good, but not good enough to make up for the excruciatingly painful wait.  Listen, I get it.  I know you make your money off the gamblers. You just provide this restaurant as a perk for them. Living in Boulder City, your restaurant is the closest thing to fine dining so that we don't have to drive too far. We wanted it to be great so badly. This visit was way worse than we could have even imagined. read more

The steakhouse has just reopened after major renovations to the kitchen. The menu has been updated with a lot of great new offerings. I had the linguine and clams and it was excellent. They did not skimp on the clams! My boyfriend had the lasagna and it was also excellent. The housemade tiramisu for dessert was fabulous. Next time we plan on trying the steaks. I will post an updated review at that time. I do definitely recommend this restaurant. I do wish that they would have continued to offer prime rib, but it is no longer on the menu. read more

We used to love this place. For years my wife and I lived within about 10 minutes of DeSimone's and went a few times a year. It WAS a reasonably priced steakhouse that was better than chain restaurants and had the old Vegas feel to it. The prices have increased a good 30% and quality has suffered greatly. First off service, was fine. Our server was attentive and water glasses did not run empty. We had an appetizer of fried green tomatoes. They were 6 small slices that were a little dark on the fry. Not bad but not great either. The sauce they put on it was the best part. For the entrees, I ordered a $80 16 oz New York Steak. I got a thin bone-in cut with more char than sear. The menu did not list this as bone-in despite other menu options being listed that way. In my previous visits, this was a thick filet. The internal temperature of the meat was correct and the potatoes were good. Overall though I expected a great deal more at that price point. What I got is something around the quality of the best steak available at a Chilli's or Applebees but for 2.5x the cost. My wife had the $63 sea bass. This arrived as an oddly shaped cut on top of a mess of a risotto. This was also a dish she had ordered before but was disappointed in this time. It was fine but at that price point I expect a lot more than fine. We got a Tiramisu to share for dessert and that was probably the best thing we ate. Nothing to write home about but was at least as expected. We also had a couple of the $10 signature cocktails. I got an old fashioned, which was fine for a $10 cocktail. My wife got an upside down pineapple martini which is the only thing I would highly recommend. Unfortunately, she also got an espresso martini which was basically just 3 espresso beans floating in Kahlua. Here is a big warning: THEY DO NOT HONOR restaurant.com COUPONS. I guess there is some mix up somewhere where they are not actually connected to that service despite being listed there. Certainly I do not expect a business to honor something they did not agree to but this is apparently enough of an issue that there was a meeting about it. Maybe put a sign or something up front so people know going in if this is such a wide spread issue. I had trouble deciding on how to rate this. I could have been generous and given 3 stars because the food was not good but it wasn't terrible. I could have given 2 and called it fair because I did not have a good overall experience but I chose to go with 1 because I can no longer recommend DeSimome's to anyone for any reason. The decline in quality combined with the drastic increase in cost means I will not be back. Better quality food is to be found closer for less money. If you are going to spend top tier money, spend it elsewhere. We used to love this place, I am a little sad we will never go back. read more

The food was good I can't say its grand. I got the porterhouse my wife got the new York strip. I wouldn't travel for it but if I was staying at the hotel I would go. I didn't feel it was worth the price but we had a Groupon so that helped a little. Finally got back to the steakhouse after the 3 month kitchen renovation. Dinner menu is completely different now. A little bummed because they don't have a few of my favorites anymore, but the food as always was delicious. They've moved to a more Italian menu which is fine with me. I had the tequila lime chicken with peppers and onions in a creamy tequila lime sauce. My wife had the filet mignon and new style garlic mashed potatoes. The food was not all that good. My steak was well done and I asked for medium rare. We asked for a loaded baked potato and it only came with butter and sour cream. Also no salad. Most restaurants serve a salad with the steak and baked potato. Definitely not worth the price. The service, however, was excellent as was the ambiance. read more

Our food was amazing. We got the dinner special with a filet and a chicken and a chicken piccata. The salad that comes with the special is huge and full of goodies, not just an iceberg plate. French onion soup was great. Tiramisu and lemon cakes both so good. Our server and other staff were attentive. I will recommend this place to anyone I know coming to town in the future. You do have to walk through a smoky casino to get to the dining room and it seeps in a tad but that's something I've noticed is pretty standard around here. read more

Date night! First off this place is in a very old casino so not the nicest! The staff isn't your typical staff more local & down to earth but great service! Don't call they don't answer lol make a reservation online. I got the NY strip blackened Cajun & my hubby got the rib eye. Medium rare! They both came out amazing juicy & the meat was soft!!! Definitely recommend the steaks! They come with baked potatoes with all the fixings. We also got a side of brussel sprouts & those were great as well! The bread was amazing that we got!! Nice & warm. We were excited to try this steakhouse last night to celebrate my Dad's 90th birthday. There were seven of us. Four in our party had been here a few months ago and had a 5 star experience. We were seated promptly with menus, but we sat there for 10 minutes before seeing our server. Our server, Ofelia, was a sweetheart, however, there were issues going on beyond her control. She came by quickly to apologize that they were short-handed and would return in two minutes. It was another 10 minutes before she was able to return. We decided that it was prudent to order drinks AND our food at the same time. We received our drinks in another 10 minutes. About 10 minutes later, we received our salads. However, we did not receive our entrees for nearly 1.5 hours after we were seated. As for the food, the rolls were good and had lots of variety to choose from. The Wedge, house and Caesar salads were very nice, but the Caesar isn't listed as a wedge. Dad and mom ordered shrimp scampi and pan roasted chicken and enjoyed it. Between the rest of us, we ordered prime rib ( I enjoyed it, but my husband thought the meat lacked seasoning), grilled Summer salmon (very nice but just a tad overcooked), Thai Seabass (good and has a kick), Ribeye (kind of on the thin side and a little over cooked and could be better seasoned), NY Strip (very good) Brandied mushrooms and Brussel sprouts (delicious sides). Our server did her best considering it looked like she serving most of the restaurant. She and the person assisting and clearing tables were really hustling and still kept a cheerful attitude! Yesterday I visited the DeSimone's Steakhouse after their latest remodeling, and decided to try their "2 for $50" special, which is NOW offered daily. I brought a friend along, and we were both very impressed. Our server, Ofelia, was extremely pleasant and professional, making our overall dining experience that much more enjoyable. The manager Amber was kind enough to check in on us and the other customers, ensuring we had a great experience. The food was delicious, well prepared, and beautifully presented; My compliments to the chef! Service was fine. Girlfriend's dinner (salmon) was ok. This was Christmas night and I ordered the special (pork chops- were said to be "stuffed" ,wasn't Broccoli tasted bad and was soggy, seemed old. Tomato bisque and pretty much everything seemed old and barely warm. Lemon cake looked fancy w/drizzle but tasted blah. The railroad pass is the OLDEST hotel in vegas and it looks and smells like it BUT this restaurant has no indication of that It's clean, quiet, vintage in a regal sort of way. Once your seated it feels like a fancy steak house would feel without the big price tag My husband ordered the Cowboy Steak ( a 22oz bone in ribeye steak) and I ordered the crab cakes. The steak was cooked and seasoned to perfection. The crab cakes were full of lumps of crab and not fillers. It was also sooo delicious and so well seasoned and so well put together they were absolutely delicious. Our bill only came out to $75. The tomahawk alone would have cost $150 anywhere else. My husband and friends had a double date here on 9/21. Clean Old school mob feel. The service was awesome by Vinny (his name fit the ambiance) and Meh. From the bread to dessert everything was perfectly yummy. We share the bacon wrapped shrimp and Mac & cheese bites. My hubby and 1 friend had the rib eye both were cooked perfectly. I was pleasantly surprised with this place. The portions are generous, and it's not crazy expensive. I ordered the Beef Wellington, and my husband ordered the King Crab legs. As sides, we got the brandied mushrooms and the asparagus. Everything was delicious! The buns were great too. The service -by Vince, our waiter- was very good too. So why four stars? The prices are higher than they should be, the decor isn't too elegant, and there's no dress code. Also, they were seating the people too close to each other for our liking. On your way to Boulder City from Henderson, you're going to pass the old Railroad Pass Hotel & Casino. Inside is a hidden gem of a steakhouse, DeSimone's. Once you pass through a smoky, flashy casino, you enter into an upscale, quiet, fine dining restaurant. A completely different world. It's only open Friday, Saturday & Sunday's & requires reservations, so you'll have to plan ahead. We had a reservation for six, arrived a bit early & had to wait a few minutes, until the rest of our group arrived. No problem, just went to the nearby bar, ordered drinks & waited to be seated. The entire staff was quick, friendly & very attentive during our meal. We started off with appetizers of bacon wrapped shrimp & coconut shrimp. Both were simply delicious. Then, the Mrs & I ordered the smaller prime rib with baked potato. You just know its going to be a great meal, when your dinner arrives on two plates. The meat was tender & delicious. Quite honestly, it was the best prime rib, we've ever had! Even though it was the smaller version, we couldn't finish our meal & had to carry it home. The other meals in our party were the same. Delicious & too much to finish at one setting. The Mrs & I shared a tiramisu for dessert. Rich, airy & soft, but not mushy. Our entire party was very happy with the dining experience. I came to this restaurant to celebrate my moms 70th birthday. I got a groupon because I love to save a buck, however, don't get it twisted, I'm not cheap, I know how to tip, especially on the ORIGINAL amount of the check.. Ive been eager to try this place after hearing so many good things. I surprised my mom by getting a few close friends of ours together for this fancy-ish dinner. Our server was friendly and professional, I do not remember her name. She took our order, got drinks pretty quickly as well as fresh bread. We all ordered either ribeyes or prime rib lobster mac n cheese, caesar salad, loaded baked potato, and my immature friend ordered french fries because, why not? lol My friends that ordered the prime rib, loved it my ribeye was not medium rare like I ordered it but its so freakin dark in there you can't really tell. Why is the caesar salad not tossed properly and why are there tomatoes? I found that to be very strange. I absolutely loved the lobster mac n cheese, I would come back, simply for that. The everything bread was fantastic but the weird raisin bread was well, weird. There were only a couple tables in the restaurant, and our server was very nice however extremely slow. I find it strange that they bring food out on carts but maybe that's an old school thing I'm just not familiar with. I ordered a piece of lemon cake for my mom, which was tasty, not really lemony but very tasty and I was thankful our server managed to get my little decoration into the cake without my mom knowing. I love an old school steakhouse more than most! I love the vibe upon entering, the leather circular booths, and the excellent steakhouse grub that is presented in a more elegant style than regular restaurants. The first two apply to DeSimone's located inside of RR Pass near Boulder City. Definitely an old school steakhouse from decades ago with the cool vibe and circular booths! The food is very good, perhaps overpriced for Vegas standards, but the service and overall experience is horrible!!! For a Friday night they literally had two servers working the entire restaurant that was fully booked! The hostess was actually running food to tables as the servers were drowning! There were customers verbally saying "never again" as they walked out after their meal! Once food was delivered to the table, not one time did a server come back to ask how the food was prepared, fill any drinks, bring any additional bread, but they did remember to bring the check!! Granted, from the point of bringing the check, to actually coming back for it, there was a span of nearly 30 minutes! Thirty minutes to decide you want to come back by while the hostess stood and talked to a booth of customers for nearly 20 minutes! The food is actually very good! Not finding Beef Wellington on many menus here anymore, I couldn't resist ordering it. Though it's not completely encased in puff pastry like it should, it does include a nice filet sandwiched between puff pastry with a mushroom gravy poured over it! The steak was a perfect medium, the mashed potatoes were excellent but cold, and the asparagus was a nice additional surprise! This steak house is an annual event for us to kick off the new year, but I'll be going more often. The decor is dark and gives an "old Vegas" vibe. The service is stellar and the food is amazing. Came back for the Steak Oscar, which is Filet Medallions, which was amazing the first time, tonight, the chef burned two orders or it, sent it back and came back exactly the same...AND the Chef had the nerve to complain about it being returned!! Chef ruins a Filet and thinks he did nothing wrong, when it looks like charcoal, that means it's burnt!!! We brought out of town guest to experience the amazing steak, to just get embarrassed.
