Came here for Valentine's Day and everything was amazing. They had cute Valentine's Day balloons and flowers on the tables and even had a special menu. The food was delicious. We had the calamari and the seared baby scallops which were on the special menu for an appetizer which were amazing. For dinner we had the lobster stuffed ravioli which was also delicious. My friend and I were really looking to forward to have dinner here, upon just checking in to ask for a table the hostess seemed frazzled & was making comments under her breath about there not being enough staff, that people can't be seating for about 25-30 minutes. Waiting is no problem, there's a bar and the food is soo good, she just made it seem like we were inconveniencing them for a table. Two seats opened up at the bar and we sat down and had a drink. The environment seemed really homey, everyone knew each other and talked to us. At the bar we asked for some bread and we weren't given silverware or even little plates. The hostess was also a waitress and making drinks and she was venting to the other customers that she'd take a slow day over the restaurant being busy like this... We decided to order at the bar because we were hungry and after our salads came out our table outside was finally ready. The hostess came over again kind of rushing us asking twice if we were ready to go to our table. All in all the food did not disappoint, but please learn how to manage the stress of being busy. Atmosphere is better than the food. Do a google image search of "chicken parmesan," guys. The cheese goes on after the sauce. Who messes this up? Who melts cheese on top of a cutlet and then pours bland sauce on top of it? It comes out like a frozen Encore chicken parm pattie from the grocery store. Nothing at the table was great. Traveled into Ewing to stop for the night from Maine to Virginia. Not knowing the area, tried to locate a place to eat close by. We also were traveling with my son and his family- 2 small children- who had been in the car for 10+ hours. Lo and behold- we found Marsilios. My husband called and asked about availability and outside seating. When we arrived, there was some discussion about our reservation (information was not relayed), but after a brief conversation, we were assured that a table outside would be offered, and we were handled graciously, seated quickly and immediately attended to professionally. The order was taken and OMG was the food fantastic! Every order was delicious and pleasing to the eye-- the kids scarfed down their Ravioli Alfredo and pronounced it the best food they had had all week. The adults ordered a range of items and all of them were super good--best Italian I have ever eaten. Service was prompt and friendly--and I wish I lived closer so I could become a regular at this restaurant. If you find yourselves close by- do yourself a favor and eat at Marsilio's. read more

Cons outweigh the pros. Restaurant has a very nice, cozy ambiance and food isn't too bad, but definitely overpriced and presentation was lousy. For the price I paid for a dish, I expected much better food and most of all great service, which this place lacks. There was no one at the door when we walked in and only one waiter in the dining room who neglected to even acknowledge our presence. No hostess, no bar tender. The server had to make drinks and run several tables. My bread basket came out along with my appetizer, which should have been on the table first. I will never go back again! read more

I actually went out of my way to sign up for yelp just so I could write a review about this place. This restaurant and its staff is probably the most insensitive, unprofessional, and disrespectful establishment I have ever visited. My wife suffers from Celiac disease - a condition that damages the lining of the small intestine and prevents it from absorbing parts of food that are important for staying healthy. Her office holiday party was held at this location because they "supposedly" catered to gluten-free dietary restrictions. However, instead of accommodating (or simply explaining that they cannot cater to her dietary needs) the waiter was rude, pretentious, insensitive, and downright insulting. He questioned her every request and outwardly expressed his frustration throughout the meal -- publicly and unabashedly. When she asked about preparation, she was met with resistance. When she declined food, she was ridiculed. Their attitude was downright discriminatory. Not only would I never recommend this location to anyone I know -- but, I am going out of my way to make sure people avoid this place. If you have any dietary restrictions or allergies avoid this location... unless you're looking for a place that doesn't mind making you ill or perhaps even putting you into anaphylactic shock. Dear Marsilio's, Your place is a true gem! We had the pleasure of having Brooke as our server tonight. I don't think I will be able to go to another place and not think of comparing others to her. She knew the menu backwards and forwards. Helped us make a plan to tackle the amazing dishes... We started with family style apps: sausage and peppers, giant meatloaf, and artichoke hearts, all prepared to perfection. Then we shared a family style house salad with the lightest dressing I have ever had, simple and content, just right. We then moved on to a pasta course as our entree, sharing the gnocchi with mushrooms, peas in a cream sauce as well as pencil pasta with red sauce. All excellent. Then Brooke came back (she was very attendant but NOT pushy) to talk dessert. She suggested the sampler and the liquid cannoli drink. Unbelievable. It was a perfect meal, great pace, not too loud, never rushed. A member of our party frequents your place for business lunches, and going forward will only sit at Brooke's table. read more

What was covered in sauce is delicious but I seriously think you should request additional sauce on the side!!! At the risk of sounding redundant, I too, am in shock of the low ratings for this restaurant. My boyfriend and I dined here last night not fully knowing what to expect but hoping that the good reputation Marsilio's enjoyed in Chambersburg would carry the day. We were not disappointed. The ambiance is intimate and cozy, the kind in which patrons tend to linger. And linger we did. The owner was gracious enough to stop by our table near the end of our meal, and engaged us in warm conversation. He shared during our conversation that the restaurant has just received it's liquor license, but will retain the BYO option for its customers with a small corkage fee. Sounds perfect for those who wish to bring their own, and others who may feel like a martini or some other cocktail with dinner. All of the food was perfectly prepared and nicely portioned, from the mussels appetizer, the salad that came w/ our entrees, and our main dishes (I had the Can't Decide Seafood consisting of shrimp francais, crab cake and salmon; he had the Can't Decide Francais consisting of chicken, shrimp and veal francais). The made in house hazelnut cheesecake was delicious, and our server was non-invasive yet very attentive. With appetizer, entrees, dessert and coffee, dinner was still under $100. A very happy relocation of an old Chambersburg favorite. Now a BYO, Marsilio's Kitchen has brought a few of the old Roebling Ave. specialties to a new location in Ewing, and added a number of new dishes. On a crowded Saturday night we had the chicken cacciatore (made white, not red) and an excellent pappardelle with a light sauce of braised short ribs. Although the place was hopping, service was attentive and professional. People familiar with the old location will notice a nod to the old Chambersburg location in the front of the restaurant. Prices are very fair, with most entrees around $20 and served with a small side salad and excellent pencil points in a slightly sweet marinara. I love love love Marsilio's! We take advantage of their carry out menu a lot, they have 20 meals under $20 so we can get dinner for two for around $24. I am continually searching for the perfect vodka sauce, and Marsilio's is the closest I have ever come! I get their Vodka Rigatoni almost every Sunday for dinner. I have also had their Gnocchi, it is excellent if a bit rich. When I am not feeling like a carb blow out, I go for the Caesar with chicken. Always fresh and delicious. At the end of the summer they are getting a full bar and liquor license. I am not sure if it will still be BYOB but I know that they will have a much larger list of available wines and cocktails, as well as a bar area inside the restaurant. My boss took me here for lunch on Friday and went back with my fiancé on New Year's Eve for dinner on Sunday. Both meals very pleased. The veal Parmesan is the best I have ever eaten. I love the side salad that comes with each entree. The gnocchi with peas and pancetta is like eating savory little pillows that dissolve in your mouth. It's a bit rich so we split as an appetizer. The eggplant rollatini was divine and tasted exactly as it should ( I asked for a side of red sauce). Tiramisu on point and chocolate lava cake was good. Was totally disappointed in our experience at Marsilio's last night. We go there a several times a year so we are familiar with the restaurant. And this experience will make me think twice about going the next time. The night started with two dirty wine glasses brought to our table, continued with the person delivering food to the table spilling (a lot of) sauce from one of the dishes on my husband's new jacket. Came here on a Wednesday night. The place was actually pretty busy for a weeknight. We ordered eggplant rollatini as an appetizer which was really good. The house salad was SO good I devoured it. As my entree I ordered the house made gnocchi and WOW it was amazing!! The gnocchi was so fresh and soft! My date ordered fettuccini Alfredo with sausage and that was excellent as well (gnocchi was better though - highly recommended). You can also Byob but they charge a corking fee which I did not know. Next time! For dessert we had tiramisu. Also good. And for an appetizer, 2 entrees, dessert, 2 glasses of wine and 2 beers our bill was about $100. Not bad at all! We just had date night at Marsilio's. Joe our server was attentive but not intrusive. The ambiance was very cozy and welcoming. We had reservations and were greeted warmly and taken to our table immediately. The food was absolutely delicious. Every bite tickled my tastebuds. I can envision an Italian grandmother in the kitchen making sauce with love. We started with Caesar and House salads which were fresh and not overly dressed. The entrees were Chicken Scarpariello and Vodka Rigatoni with sides of Sautéed Spinach and Sautéed Asparagus. Both plates were clean as a whistle. Celebrated a milestone birthday here last evening. Wanted to try a new place, not too expensive but upscale ambiance. Marsilio's fit the bill! There were five of us, and we each ordered something different so we could get tastes of all. I had the seared scallops with spinach, served in a white cream sauce with mushrooms and garlic. It was delicious! We ordered two bottles of the Malbec... very smooth with a touch of sweetness. Our waiter, Joe, was attentive, informative, and an absolute joy! We have been here few times. One of the better Italian restaurants in the area. The food is always excellent. Must try the calamari. Vodka rigatoni with chicken has the perfect sauce. Chicken cacciatore and chicken parm are two my favorites. Had to take two stars off because of the service. We didn't have complaints with the service in the past even though it was slow. The last time we went there, we were served very poorly by one of the servers. The server behaved "differently" only once he reached our table. We could clearly see he treated other tables calmly and politely. He was just very rude for no apparent reason. It was very disappointing as we love the food here. read more

The first thing I noticed walking in was the beautiful interior that is like a classic Italian restaurant, but refreshingly updated. Most Italian restaurants have the same outdated overly fancy look that hasn't been changed since the 80s, but this is so elegant and classy. It looks like a lot of thought went into the decor. Perfect for a romantic evening. The food was cooked and prepared perfectly. Fried calamari appetizer was cooked well (not too chewy), and the pasta was perfectly al dente. Marsilio's Kitchen is plain awesome! My wife and I visited for dinner on our ninth wedding anniversary and we not disappointed. Nice atmosphere, wonderful service and excellent italian food. My wife had the Veal Saltimbocca and I had a lovely pasta with mushrooms and beef tips. The appetizer was a smoked mozzarella cheese with apple slices and was very delicious. A wonderful Red Velvet cake for my wife and Tiramisu for myself topped of a memorable meal. I will certainly be coming back for more!!! read more

Finally had a chance to get to Marsilio's last night. We tried to get in a few times last Summer when they opened but reservations were scarce and candidly, we forgot about it. When attempting to make a reservation at another place via Open Table, we noticed Marsilio's had a table at the exact time we wanted so we took it. We arrived and were promptly seated by the friendly hostess at a spacious table for two - it was nice to have the extra space. Decor was nicely updated and while reminiscent of the prior operator, they've tastefully made the space their own. Volume was just right too. Our server Robbie promptly uncorked our bottle and walked us through the specials. Started with the braised short rib appy special and steamed clams from the menu. The 5 short ribs were tender and juicy. Seasoned perfectly - reminded me of a well prepared osso bucco. The steamers were generous and tasty in the garlic broth. Extra bread was required to mop up both the steamer and short rib sauces. House salad was simple with provolone and a light vinaigrette. Just right. Mains were both from the special list. I had the tuna (without the Cajun spices). Merely kissed by the flame as requested presented over horseradish mashed, wild mushrooms and a nice sherry cream sauce. It was almost like two meals in one. The savoriness of the mushrooms played nicely against the mashed with the cream sauce. The generous tuna steak was lightly seasoned with salt and pepper and served at the perfect temp. My wife had the lobster/scallop special over linguine. Again, the seafood was cooked to perfection, particularly the scallops. The pasta was al dente with a very nice sauce tying the entire dish together. I might have left out the lobster head garnish but hey, at least it was artistic. Dessert was the home made tirimisu. Again, very nice. Not too sweet and not sopping wet on the bottom. The sweet cream and berries on the plate were a very nice addition. At the end of the day, we were very pleased with the experience. I see some of the older reviews in the margin and must admit that we heard there were some issues early on. The GM advised that the original chef was replaced and I can certainly vouch for the incumbent. The food, portions, value and service were all top notch. I feel a little awkward giving 5 stars in my first Yelp review but candidly, it's worth it. Very much looking forward to our next visit. I think that says it all. read more
