Had dinner at Diamond's restaurant on May 5 . My wife had the VealOscar . I had the Seafood Combo with Pasta . On the menu. veal was $40. The Veal Oscar did not have a price It was listed as one of their specialties . The bill came .Veal Oscar was $65 . Twenty five dollars extra for a few ounces of crab meat . My Seafood Combo was OK except that it was mostly muscles. There were a couple shrimp ,some calamari ,and maybe five very tiny clams for $50. I thought the meal was very overpriced. Veal Oscar at Villa Barone ,a comparable quality Italian restaurant, is $31. Their seafood combo with pasta is $36. When I asked about the price for the Veal Oscar I was told crabmeat is expensive nowadays. It seemed to me it was lump crabmeat from a can maybe $20 per pound at the Supermarket . Went here for my friend's b-day. Group of about 10 of us celebrated. We were seated in a far left corner towards the front by the windows & it smelled like urine here. Peeeeeeewwwwww. Ended up closing the place down since we had a larger group & I think the wine helped elongate the discussions. Food was decent, tho nothing to write home to mom about (but still Yelp worthy). Prices were ok, a lil on the higher side from what I'm used to. The portion sizes weren't too small but not a generous size either. I did take leftovers home (b/c I usually do anyway). Diamond's was always a top off the line dining experience. Sadly our experience on New Years Eve has left us with major questions going forward. There was problems in the kitchen that cant be ignored. Whomever was the chef was definitely not an experienced chef. All the offerings that we had were well below that of Diamonds of the past or even of a serviceable restaurant. Stuffed Mushrooms lacked flavor and consistency. The Bucatini Cacio e Pepe my wife ordered was completely covered in black pepper making it a burning hot experience. Two bites was all that could be handled. They did take it off the bill to their credit. Vodka Rigs with chicken was over cooked and the vodka sauce was way off. The Garlic Fromage bread was burnt bread with a cheese sauce poured over the bread and plate. I have never had a garlic bread with cheese done in this messy way. We have always loved Diamond's for their excellent reputation and dining experiences. We really hope this is a short term problem with the kitchen and they get the proper staff. Maybe they have had a problem just for that night, I do not know. But I really hope for the return of the Diamond's Restaurant that we all know and loved. read more

What a disappointing meal! Ordered lobster thermador and it came as a dried out split lobster. No sauce. Shrivelled in the shell. Someone else got vodka rigatoni and it was so dried out on the top it was crunchy. $400 for a holiday dinner that was complete crap. Why didn't we send the meals back? The waiter disappeared! It's just the best for Italian in the area. We met the new owners who are not changing anything. The Chef is the same and the food was to die for. Pork and Fig appetizer is a must get. They have the best mussels fradiablo. The bread is so fresh as well as the raw seafood. My personal favorite is the veal chop Milanese but we have not been disappointed by anything there. read more

This place is under new ownership and Segundo is running the show well. We did a big take out order yesterday I personally had the Tortellini Diamanté and added grilled chicken. The dish was very good and the portion was large. I ate half for dinner and the other half for lunch today. I also had the eggplant appetizer which was delicious! I had a good first experience here for a lunch visit. I didn't make a reservation but when I got there on a weekend afternoon, the lot looked busy. But no fear, this is a pretty large place and most were here for a private event. My uncle ordered the pencil points Calabrese, and I had a wedge salad and the lunch chicken parm. The lunch menu is pared down from the swankier dinner one, but still a good selection, just less seafood. Most dishes were $15, including a few pizzas I may need to go back for. The salad was good, a huge portion of a healthy head of iceberg, the "heirloom" tomatoes were sadly under ripe Roma's, but good bacon and dressing plus a few cuke slices saved the day. My uncle didn't love his dish, but it's not the restaurant's fault, he misunderstood what type of pepper would be included I think. It looked appetizing to me.... I thoroughly enjoyed my parm, the portion size was nice and red sauce robust. They prepared it flawlessly, meaning perfectly breaded and crispy shell that is not completely obscured by the sauce or cheese. Balance. Instead of pasta I tried the veggies. Very good and firm mixed fresh vegetables, and roasted rosemary potatoes. I was not having buyers regret with the healthier choice. I think this is the third Diamonds location I've been to? The previous incarnation in Hamilton didn't fare well. And I know of folks who were unable to transfer gift cards from there, to this one. My one visit there was not as enjoyed as this one. Anniversary dinner at Diamond's was perfect. Atmosphere was nice and welcoming. Bill was our waiter and did a great job. Service was perfect. Appetizers were broccoli rabe and eggplant parm. But sadly, the entrees for two of the people in our party came out first. My friend watched us eating our entire meal (she told us to start eating) and the waitress never came over to tell us the food was still coming, no time estimate, etc. I had to go to her twice to ask when the food was coming for my friend. The waitress had only worked there for about 2 weeks apparently, so I can only blame the owner or manager for the poor training. The young lady was very nice and I'm sure she didnt realize she was doing anything wrong. But everything about my friend's meal coming out about 5-10 mins after my other friend and I were done with our meals was wrong. Then my friend was charged $10 for pasta that the waitress told her the meal came with. She asked for it to be removed from the bill and the waitress stood there like a deer in the headlights. I said there has to be someone back there who can remove this from the bill. So she asked and someone did get it removed. Honestly the whole meal should've been free because it was not made in a timely manor. It's not like the restaurant was crowded. There was only one other table of 3 and one guy at the bar. So that was just not acceptable. The owner apparently left to go home. I get that its the holidays, but the owner maybe shouldve checked in with the tables before he left, especially since he had a waitress with only 2 weeks experience who was left running the show. You can't run a business like this and expect to succeed. Sorry, I don't hope any business fails and not this one either. But that was just bad service today and based on today, I wouldn't go back. For some positives, the cheese fries with Bechemel sauce were delicious and so was the small salad I had. My other friends enjoyed their meals as well. Sorry one more negative....My artichokes francaise weren't hot when served unfortunately, and for the price of $15 for 5 tiny artichoke hearts, that is not a good value. If you're only going to serve a small amount of these, they need to be bigger artichoke hearts. Any other place I've had this dish, it has been very large artichoke hearts. 1st time eating there and the food was delicious. The service was very good too. We had the mussels for an appetizer that was probably the best mussel marinara we have ever had ( and we try a lot ). All three of us had the filet mignon and it was cooked to perfection. All in all everything was spot on. It was a little pricey but that did not bother us because it was so good. Went here for the first time on February 13th. Excellent restaurant that covers everything to ensure your happiness including great ambiance, food and service. I ordered the fried calamari appetizer. It was so good, lightly breaded and mixed with hot sliced cherry peppers. Plenty of calamari on the dish, even baby squid was on it!! I loved it. I also ordered the chopped antipasto Salad. Really good size and tasty. I also got the broccoli rab as a side and that was very good too. Inside was decorated very nicely, you felt like you were in a far away land of relaxation plus soothing music in the background. Our waitress was awesome, I forgot her name but she was fantastic, friendly and very knowledgeable. I actually met one of the owners before I left, his name is Anthony (like me), funny, friendly and a real gentleman. Our experience here completely ruined our Valentines date night. First off let's talk about the service. We sat at our table for 20 minutes before anyone came to take our drink order. So by that time when they finally did come we put in our order for the whole meal: 2 sodas, a bread appetizer, and our entrees. My wife is vegetarian so she ordered hers without meat. The waitress confirmed that this was no issue and could be done. Well from there it took us roughly 40 more minutes to get our appetizer- still no drinks. Our waitress wasn't anywhere to be found to say something to or ask about anything. This is because the restaurant is split into 2 rooms and the main room clearly got her complete focus. Why they had people working both rooms and not split it up I'll never understand. We understand it was Valentine's Day so it might be a bit busier but we were there a complete hour before we had drinks in front of us. That is completely ridiculous and unacceptable. Continuing on, our appetizer also came out pretty cooled off and the bread was at a point of being mush. After another 40 minutes or so we received our entrees. Mine was very bland and not very good at all and my wife's of course came with meat in it which we clearly asked and confirmed for it to be without. They offered for us to have it remade but by no means did we intend to stay another 40 minutes for underwhelming and overpriced food so we said we'd pay for the appetizer and drinks that's it. Then we left. It's also worth noting that the main room was very nice looking however, the side room was pretty rough looking and was absolutely freezing they had one wall heater that hit the center of the room but if you weren't in the middle and seated along the edge the room was an ice box. The couple next to us complained about that a whole bunch to their server and manager so we didn't feel the need to say anything more about it but we completely agreed with them. Overall this was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had and we won't be returning. read more

Last night 3 friends and I ventured out to dinner for the first time since February. We made reservations for outdoor dining but upon arrival we were told they seated a large party and we were now inside. We hesitated, but being that it was a special occasion- we just went with it. Our waitress was clearly frazzled. She complained about not being able to breathe under her mask. The mood right away reminded us of the current state of affairs instead of taking us out of it for a moment. We ordered the calamari, mozzarella sticks, and the seafood antipasto appetizer. We also got bread. The calamari was flavorless served with the same marinara sauce as the mozzarella sticks. No lemon, no sprinkle of spices, not even a little parsley. The sticks were a frozen product which were flash fried. Two of them had their cheese ooze out before it hit the plate to be served. I'm pretty sure they wouldn't serve you that at TGI Friday's. The seafood appetizer tasted rancid. The seafood was not fresh and the sauce with its spicy peppers was meant to disguise that. We got share plates at the last moment after we had each used our bread plates for the apps. We had to ask for our second wine to be opened. We never got water refills. I point this out to assure you whatever expectation you have of this place being on the fancier side- forget it. From this moment on, I can only talk about the entrees served to my boyfriend and I. I ordered the NY Strip medium and he ordered the surf and turf. My steak was cold and it was delivered to me in such a way that it slid down the plate along with the overcooked potatoes and slimy vegetables. My boyfriends lobster wasn't loosened from its tail as you would expect a chef to do in a nicer restaurant. It was over cooked and flavorless. His steak was so undercooked it was inedible. His plate was cold too. The saving grace on his plate was the clarified butter. He dipped everything into that so he could eat it. My steak sat there after I took 3 bites. The waitress never asked about how our temps were. We ordered a tiramisu for dessert. This I have no complaints about! Over all the prices you're paying for this experience is outrageous. You've got to season food, use fresh ingredients, and have good service if you're charging $40+ for an entree. We left disappointed and dissatisfied. Would not recommend or return. read more

Gave this place another try after two not so great experiences and wish we didn't. It's very clear that there are customers who are regulars who have a wonderful experience. I know this because people ordered at least 20 minutes after us that got their food and we had to complain twice before we got ours. And it wasn't even that crowded. When we finally got our food, my pasta dish was cold. All other meals were fine except my husbands steak was overdone. The owner tried to move our table after we were sat because apparently our table was "saved" for another party. I wish I loved it here but I just can't. read more

I sat down with my family and went to the so called owner and stated that at least a tablecloth could have been put down and he informed me that sitting in the dining room at a table for seven doesn't get tablecloths. The salads had bottle dressing. The bucatini cacio e Pepe was a bowl of melted butter which was overly peppered. The pork chop was boring at best. This is probably the most overpriced restaurant in this area. It's priced like a fine dining restaurant with the quality of a low class Italian steakhouse. The service was terrible as well. We waited so long between the times we saw our waitress. We had 2 appetizers, 5 different entrees, and 5 different desserts. It was terrible. We went for dinner last night with another couple and it was the first time for all of us. Although it was Valentines Day weekend we had early reservations and were one of only four or five occupied tables when we were seated so it was not busy. After being seated we were brought menus and given water. At that time, we put one of our bottles of wine on the table anticipating we'd get some glasses and an opener. As we sat and waited we looked over the menu. After a few minutes we closed our menus and waited for our sever. And waited. And waited. While waiting, three or four different servers and at least three attendants interacted numerous times with tables around us - including a couple who came in after us and were already enjoying their wine - and none of them even looked at our table. As we waited my wife kept looking in the mirror where she could see the owner sitting at a table next to the door with some acquaintances paying absolutely no attention to what was happening in his dining room. Finally, my wife stopped one of the attendants and asked them if we had a server and if we could get wine glasses. A few minutes later - almost 30 minutes after being seated - our waitress arrived. She was very apologetic and said our table wasn't even in her section so she didn't know why they'd even assigned us to her. For the long wait they brought us a complimentary plate of cheese bread which pretty good. We ordered some appetizers and entrees, none of which were overwhelming . The portions were sufficient but the chicken Parmesan was bland and came with barely any pasta, and while the veal portobello was flavorful, it was a bit too salty. We can't speak for our friends but they did say they felt the entrees were all about $5 higher than they should've been so we're guessing they weren't very impressed. For a restaurant which seems to rely on their name and past reputation we couldn't help feeling the effort just wasn't there. Perhaps the owner should worry less about sitting with friends and pay attention to what's happening. Any reputable restaurant would have made sure the owner or a manager came to our table to apologize. One and done. read more

I was very excited about this dinner, restaurant highly recommended by trusted friends and co-workers. There were 8 of us celebrating our winter birthdays. I don't even know where to start describing one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. If I touch on everything this will be a 2 page post. 1. Service, lacking at best. We had 2 waitresses, 1 was snarky and not very accommodating, 2nd offered her services if we had any questions or needed something. We didn't see her for 2 hours. 2. Wait time, everyone sitting and waiting for service at 6:25. We still had not been served at 8:15, they close at 9. People who arrived well after us were served and finished dinner before ours was delivered. 3. Food, where to begin... veal chop cold and fatty, potatoes burned beyond recognition, replaced with raw under cooked potatoes. Pasta Bolognese, egg noodles with watery sauce with very little meat. The waitress brought out meatballs to appease me. Cowboy steak, 18 oz of shoe leather served cold. Pork chop over cooked and room temperature. The waitress was most attentive when we started asking questions and complaining. I feel this was a last ditch effort to save her tip. This was no cheap venture especially for a BYOB establishment. We were seated in a side room attached to the main restaurant but separate. You had to leave our area, walk outside in the cold, walk through the main restaurant, which was packed, to go to the bathroom. When the check arrived and nothing was removed including 2 meals that were never touched, I questioned whether the manager was made aware of our issues. She said yes and that he was unwilling to adjust the check in any way. She went back to him, he agreed to take off the veal chop. We were still not happy, no apologies, no comps, no offer of a free dessert. We never saw the manager. I was completely embarrassed, I made the plans and picked the restaurant. I could not have been more disappointed. We will never go there again or recommend to anyone. read more
