We haven't been back in quite some time and boys. Some things have certainly changed especially the new bar so no longer BYOB. We came in just at opening realizing we didn't have a reservation and waiting at 4 o'clock on a Sunday so we got fortunate to have choice of seat seats. We opened up with the Gemelli and meatballs and complimented that with the tartufo di Gianni pie. With a glass of Montiepuliciano. Cody was extremely tentative, very friendly engaging. Give us a time we needed to make our final decisions for a meal. Platings were beautifully done. Ingredients were all super fresh. The pie was made just the way we like it just the right amount of crisp without being too soggy in the middle where each other restaurants haven't I guess figured that part out. Good meal good time parking up on the side. Did notice a credit card surcharge on the bill and it's not American Express that I carry. We came to Osteria on a Wednesday night with the kids and had a fantastic meal. Inside had a warm and cozy feel, making a great spot to enjoy dinner. We ordered the garlic Parmesan wings, garlic knots, Pizza Dora, and a margarita pizza--everything was delicious! The standout dishes were definitely the garlic Parmesan wings and the margarita pizza, both packed with great flavor. The pizza crusts were thin and crunchy, along with the sauce made it a great bite. It was also a nice bonus that a couple of the items were on the happy hour menu, making them an even better deal. The quality of the food, combined with reasonable prices and a welcoming atmosphere, makes this a spot we'll definitely be returning to. Highly recommend! read more

Hidden gem! I recommend the Nonna pizza. It's absolutely amazing. The prices are on the higher end but the pizzas are worth the price.

We live in the neighborhood and loved just randomly walking over for a meal. The food was good. Service was great as well. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Fast fo ward to this past week .... We went in on Wednesday for a "happy hour" cocktail and some food. I was soo disappointed in the porcinni ravioli. The pasta was thick and tough. The filling was tasty but having to cut ravioli with a knife to getotthough it is just wrong. Then tonight, Sunda, we ordered take out. For the whole family. Most of us were happy. But our "fettuccine Alfredo with peas" came with almost no "Alfredo sauce" and not a single pea. Disappointing for a vegetarian. I don't know what has changed, but I hope they can correct it. Ordered two sandwiches (Gianluca and Gabriella), a La Pera salad, and a classic Margherita pizza. I've eaten here many times over the years since they first opened up. The food used to be very consistent and amazing. Easy 5 stars every time. My recent experiences have begun to convince me that those days are over. Pizza was good but not amazing. The pita bread on both sandwiches was tough to chew. I suspect it was old/stale. To me this is unacceptable! I also forgot to check the box for the pasta salad with the sandwiches and received chips. The chips were an off brand and quite simply some of the poorest quality potato chips that I've ever encountered. I threw half the bag in the trash because I didn't want to waste the calories on them. They were literally that awful. Pretty poor effort for an $80 meal. Not sure that I'll be back any time soon. My good friend lives in Fords and we are forever trying to determine a true midway meeting point for us. My hubs, who is a native of South Jersey, mentioned Bordentown. I stumbled upon Osteria Procaccini on Yelp and it really WAS a midway point for us. Well, I'll be damned! Why didn't I ask him this question 2 years ago? Their menu offers a variety of items for lots of different palates. Picky eaters will have limited trouble finding something on the menu that'll do them right. We went the mozzarella/prosciutto/fig salad route for our appetizer, and we both went the ravioli route for our entrees. I believe her pear raviolis might have been made in-house, but my lobster raviolis definitely were not. That was a little disappointing, but the flavors were there regardless of them being of the frozen variety. The pumpkin cheesecake was a hit and we were pleased to learn that we landed the last available slice. Good thing we met up early! It's BYOB establishment, but they offer some New Jersey wines if you like (I don't like!). The space was really cozy and clean. Our server was so sweet and accommodating. It felt like southern hospitality right in Burlington County. She made us feel like regulars. There is a dirt/rock parking lot across the street, but spaces were limited due to some erratic parking skills by the patrons. The lack of parking lines will do it every time. After being on lockdown for covid, a girlfriend and I were looking forward to a meal outside of the house. We don't live far from this location so it was convenient. We went inside and someone was doing a little photo shoot and barely acknowledged us walking in. We told the lady we would like to sit outside to which she just pointed out and said the waitress would meet us outside. Not the greatest vibe but we really wanted to give the place a try. The menu was adjusted (which was to be expected) but some of those items were also not available which we weren't told until we wanted to order it. The food was okay, my drink was the bottom of the bag which needed to be changed, my friends dish was watery, my pasta was average, bruschetta bread was basically burnt. For the price I was expecting more. While I understand covid has affected many businesses, I feel customer service should still be top notch. I did not feel that at this location. read more

Get Forky, the parent company, has really jacked up the pricing at all their restaurants lately--especially Osteria and PJ's. Honestly, it's getting hard to justify going in anymore. Came here on a busy Saturday evening - unfortunately it was a bit TOO busy for the staff to handle. The soda I ordered had little syrup in it, but the staff said they were too busy to go downstairs to get more so advised me to order an alternate beverage. I ordered gnocchi for dinner, which was passable ... and a side salad that said it came with garlic bread - which ended up being two untoasted slices of a pita-like bread on top of the salad. Dessert was cannolis, which were very good. All in all though, next time I'm in town I think I'll skip this place. read more

Full disclosure: I know one of the owners pretty well, I worked with Tino at a business that shall be nameless. He is one of the genuinely nicest people you can hope to meet, and I am so happy to see that his new ventures are thriving. That being said, I took my Elite vows and would never let personal feelings influence a review. This location is in the middle of an old country town, and occupies a very old house that may been an Inn at one time. The decor is very nice, upscale rusticish? And I love the fact that although they are a Byob, they carry a selection of local wines. Most of the pizzas tempted me, but I choose a red clam. My unconscious tomato pie instincts twinged when I ordered it. I even double checked with the waitress as to whether it had mozz on it or not. It did not, she replied, but gave me a chance to customize it. I went with the menu version. If I were to order again I wood ask for light mozz on the bottom to maintain a better level of crispness. But the pizza was tasty, good sauce, fresh clams, and a generous amount of shaved Parmigiana Reggiano on top. The crust was very thin, but with a bit of folding I could eat it without damage. Make no mistake, these are truly personal size, hungry men at dinner time may require more than one. I would like to come back and try other styles, preferably with company so one of the quality and interesting salads could be sampled, along with a dessert that has already infested my brain( cannoli rollatini?) service was quick and friendly at lunch. Hidden gem in Crosswicks. Tucked away in the back of town, a lovely restaurant to enjoy a dinner with your family or have a date. The Pizza lives up to the expectations! The crust has the perfect level of char which brings a nice crunch and texture, but the dough still retains the soft fluffy interior. No crust shall go to waste with this pizza. The bruschetta is a must buy here, especially the goat cheese truffle bruschetta. My parents and I capped off our dessert with a tiramisu, which was served in an atypical manner. read more

Great food, across the board - entrees, salads, appies, pizza - all were very satisfying. Fine service as well. Half a star off for pricing (even a little higher than the food is worth); and one and a half for the dining room, which is plain at best, has a significant portion of its seating on hard wall-benches, no condiments or seasonings at all on the tables, and has a sound system that's more annoying than pleasing, and is LOUD (no soft surfaces of any kind to absorb noise.) I found it very uncomfortable and the restaurant wasn't even that busy. Honestly it's heartbreaking - I'd love to try more of their food, but the environment makes me think I'd be better off just bucking-up and cooking at home, where I can eat in a pleasant environment. And sadly, they're a little too far from my home to make take-out an option. Give them a try, especially if you live close and/or are hard of hearing :) read more

First time here, was on way back from North Jersey so I figured I'd hit a spot in Bordentown for dinner. Saw a Yelp friend had tried it, so I asked about it and was told it was good. Waiter (Chris, I think) was very helpful and friendly, cracked some jokes with us, and was honest about his likes and dislikes. Recommended brushetta and meatballs as apps. We went with the brushetta, even though I was told to get the meatballs by him and a friend, but there's always next time. Was very fresh and tasty. Asked for a small side of balsamic reduction and got some with no hesitation, great addition. I got the pizza with sausage and mushrooms, even though I really wanted the Salty pie! Again, there's always next time. The sausage was super flavorful, mushrooms were sliced thin and cooked perfectly, sauce was sweet and delicious. LOVE the thin crispy crust! Cannot wait to go back and sample more pizzas. Had the homemade cheesecake for dessert. Was very good, not best cheesecake I've ever had but definitely good if you like cheesecake. From the moment we walked in our experience was great. The smell was intoxicating, the food was fresh and delicious, the girl that sat us was pleasant, waiter was on point and helpful with suggestions and the menu, and it's a BYOB and the prices were very reasonable. The only knock on the place is that it is very loud. I really don't care too much about that, but if you're looking for a quiet evening, this is not the place. The loud environment for me; makes it fun. You realize that everyone around you is enjoying the food and company, however I know not everyone enjoys a boisterous dinner. The more the merrier for me. I normally love the pizza at Osteria in Crosswicks and have recommended to my friends and neighbors but the pizza I got today was the worst unfortunately. Just a plain pizza ordered via Slice, picked it up within the time I was told and as soon as she handed me the box I noticed it was not even warm and by the time I arrived home it was ice cold and the crust was so hard you could probably chip a tooth. The underneath seemed burnt. Am extremely disappointed and I always give a 20% tip even though it's a pick up. Am new to the area and guess will have to find another place to get pizza. C read more

The menu was a bit limited for what yelp described as an Italian restaurant - only salads, sandwiches, and pizza. Ordered the mama's meatballs for an appetizer - came with three giant meatballs. One of mine was a bit dry, but they were overall delicious and would order again. For my main, I ordered the strawberry salad - it was super pretty and tasted just as well. Im back for a 2nd visit. I enjoyed my pizza the last time, now I'm back for another round. Lunchtime. My coworkers and I got here right at 11:30. We beat the lunch rush. The wait for my pizza was not very long, thats good when you are pressed for time on a lunch break! I had the Pizza Dora and added anchovies and extra cheese. Man my pizza was bangin! I also had a glass of Root Beer. There are also salads and sandwiches to choose from. Food is all natural, no preservatives. When ordering pizza, you can order whole wheat or gluten free crusts. Osteria Procaccini was the first restaurant I tried after moving to Chesterfield a few months ago and I've been back several times. My first experience was ordering salads for takeout/pick up. You can order on the Slice app and then you simply go to the host stand and they hand you your food. They packed up the salads nicely with plastic utensils and napkins, always a plus. All of their salads are delicious, and huge! These are seriously the freshest best quality ingredient salads I've ever had. Last night I dined in with my family. The restaurant is very cute space, on the smaller side but plenty of room for small to medium size groups. We've been before so we knew it was BYOB and came prepared with a bottle of wine. They will provide glasses and serve you as well. The servers are always very friendly and helpful with the menu. We decided to order 2 salads and 3 pizzas to share among the 4 adults and one child - plenty of food! For salads we selected the Fragola (strawberry salad) and the Caesare. The Fragola is my favorite salad they have on the menu. I often order this one for lunch takeout and add grilled chicken to it - so delish! For pizzas we had Tinos Margherita, Tartufo Di Gianni, and the Pesto Pomodoro. With tomatoes coming into season right now the Pesto one was my favorite last night. So fresh and delicious with the balsamic drizzle on top! They use a "terra cotta" pizza oven method which results in a thinner crust and some light charring around the crust, which I love. We ended our meal with some small cannolis and cappuccinos. Both were freshly made and delicious. The cannolis were just the right sweetness and the cappuccinos had so much yummy foam with fresh cinnamon on top! We will be back again soon! read more

Got a "More Than Q BBQ Pie", described as follows: Oak cherry and apple smoked pulled beef, shaved Parmesan, caramelized onion, fresh jalapeño, horseradish cream sauce, Carolina bbq sauce drizzle. 21 bucks for a PERSONAL size pizza. If there was 1/4 ounce of beef on it, I'm a movie star. Literally we looked hard and could only find an occasional lonely string of brisket. Shame because the taste was pretty good. But I felt totally ripped off, especially for the absurd price. If you're out of beef, just stop selling the beef pie until you get more. Seriously. There's too much competition in this area to pull stuff like that. But best of luck to them, I hear people like it. read more

The inside of the restaurant is updated while maintaining the feel of the old Crosswicks Inn. We started with the Truffled Honey and Goat Cheese Brushetta and oh.my.god. It was so delicious I practically licked my finger after each piece. I actually went back the very next day to pick up another two orders for a party. For the main event, we couldn't decide between the Amatriciana (a more classic choice) or the Pizza Vongole (the adventurous choice). The waitress informed us that if we ordered both with red sauce, we could get half and half. Let me preference this next part by saying that I like greasy, traditional pizza soooo... The Amatriciana was good. Not what I'm usually looking for in a pizza but I definitely had more than one slice. The Pizza Vongole was exactly what you would expect a pizza with clams in it to taste like. I probably wouldn't get it again but it was worth it to do it once. Overall, I'll definitely be going back. Oh and the restaurant is BYOB, and if you forget to BYOB and feel sad about it, there are no liquor stores close by. Just thought you should know. read more

To visit Osteria Procaccini in Crosswicks, NJ, is to do more than eat organic Italian food and pizza from a terra cotta oven. It is to step back into American history. Housed in the Crosswicks Inn that had been in operation since the early 18th Century, under various owners, it is quite a sight. It sits in the middle of Crosswicks Village, founded by Quakers and an important stop on the stage line between New York and Philadelphia. The Revolutionary War was fought all around this part of Central Jersey, including the Battle of Monmouth, the turning point of our fight for independence. The Procaccini Brothers did a great job renovating the building with attention to historic detail. Walking in on a hot June afternoon is to experience what it must have been like to do so 200 years ago (except for the AC). For that alone, a stop here is worthwhile. But, don't forget that this is now a unique Italian restaurant who's signature dishes are composed of locally sources (sometimes right out of their garden) ingredients that become salads, sandwiches, and most dominantly, hand tossed and terra cotta baked pizzas. The oven was imported from the Old Country, and its ability to hold and radiate heat provided a finished pizza in about 90 seconds. My Tino's Margherita Pie was personal size, hand stretched with a sweet Tomato Sauce, fresh Mozza and strips of home grown Basil. It was excellent, but would have been even better with another 10 seconds in the oven to harden the center dough to enable it to be picked up by hand without folding. That is just a personal preference and perhaps I should have asked for it to be "well done." Aside from that nit, it was completely satisfying. While I am normally a Trenton Tomato Pie guy, Procaccini's is no slouch when it comes to their style pie. Combined with the complete authenticity of Crosswicks and their expensive and astonishing recreation of this venerable tavern, this Osteria becomes a "must see" destination. If you love American history and good pizza (not always thought of at the same time), this is your place. read more

We had the minestrone soup special ($6), a salad special (which included artichokes, pepperoni, and cheese) that was large enough for two, rice balls, which came topped with dollops of mozzarella cheese (delicious), then a white pizza with clams, and a red pizza. The food is nice and clean, they don't use any soy or canola in house. Which lets you know automatically that they know what they're doing. We found them on yelp and after seeing all the 5 star reviews knew we had to try it. I'm so glad that we did they definitely live up to the reviews! We had the pizza, which was done perfectly in their wood fired oven. They were making fennel salad the first day we ate there and that was delicious and gave me some good ideas to try at home. We also tried the meatballs appetizer, I highly suggest that if you like meatballs you definitely will love these! Not since my grandma's have I tasted such delicious MBs. The coffee was also excellent. Had a chance to chat with the owner on the way out as I was congratulating them on what a great selection of truly good food they had and was wondering where they got their flour as it was obvious to me that they were using a very good quality organic flour as no tummy swelling happening. I took a chance when I ate it, and it paid off! :) I know not the smartest way to roll the dice, but I had a feeling when they didn't use canola and soy they knew what they were doing. He was very proud of their flour as he gets it from upper state NY and it's a high quality stone ground flour. Also complimented him on the coffee and he told me that he imports that from Italy. I should've known it was so smooth and not bitter. He was a truly nice person and it was great to meet him. We also enjoyed our server, she was fun and knew all the dishes very well.
