Pros: I genuinely can't think of a single favorable aspect of our dining experience. Cons: Everything--from the service, to the table spacing, to the food quality--was an issue. The ambiance and layout were problematic throughout the meal. The table spacing was already uncomfortably tight from the start, and toward the end of our visit, a party of 10 was seated in a way that completely blocked off the front left side of the already small dining area. This left only a narrow path on the right side for entry and exit. Given how confined the space became, it raised legitimate concerns about safety and whether the layout could pose an issue in the event of an emergency. After waiting 40 minutes for the complimentary bread, I finally had to speak up and ask for it to be brought to our table. Given that there were several open tables both inside and outside, we couldn't understand why there was such a tremendous delay with such a simple task. For an additional "starter" my dining partner ordered the Caesar salad which was completely drenched in dressing. While we were initially excited about the homemade pasta entrees, we were extremely disappointed once out they arrived. I understand that homemade pasta is typically served al dente, but neither dish was cooked properly. I had to cut my pasta with a knife because a fork simply wasn't enough, and my dining partner couldn't cut several pieces of his pasta at all--some were still noticeably crunchy. I was especially surprised, as I've dined here before and don't recall these kinds of issues--perhaps there has been a change in the kitchen. Unfortunately, we weren't able to address any of this during the meal because our waitress, Marti, never checked on us from the time she delivered our entrees (about an hour after we were seated). Not once, not even upon delivering the check did she ask us how our meals were! Before leaving, I chose to address the server, Marti, directly and share our experience. I expressed my disappointment with both the service and the food, but her response made an already bad experience significantly worse. Every comment was met with a large, clearly insincere smile and a dismissive "I'm sorry to hear that," with no effort to actually resolve anything. A good server would show genuine remorse, offer to involve a manager, or at the very least attempt to make things right--whether by addressing the issue or offering to comp part of the meal. None of that happened. There was no accountability, no urgency, and no real acknowledgment of the situation--just a phony, rehearsed response that felt completely disrespectful. To make matters worse, shortly after we left, my dining partner became ill, experiencing both diarrhea and nausea, along with severe stomach pain that has now lasted over 14 hours and is still ongoing. If I could give this experience a 0 out of 5, I would.

It's very tight seating for a table of 2 sometimes, unless you can get a table by the front windows. One of our favorite Cesar salads, very flavorful. My Veal was very tender and the vodka sauce was delicious. My wife had the black pasta with shrimp and crabmeat. There were only 4 shrimp and very little crab, but of course lots of fresh pasta. She loved my dish. We would definitely go back and try other dishes.

Chicken & Shrimp Fra Diavolo

Came here on a Thursday night for dinner with friends. And it was great. Shown to our table right away, the food and service were both excellent. We ordered the lasagna, which was rich, cheesy, when you get the dish, it's not the traditional lasagna you come to expect, it's presented from a different perspective, and the taste was on point to any good lasagna you can remember. The chicken and shrimp fra diavolo had just the right amount of heat, with tender shrimp, juicy chicken, and a flavorful, spicy tomato sauce that really brought the dish together. The short rib ragu was a standout -- the meat was fall-apart tender, and the sauce was hearty and deeply savory, paired perfectly with the pasta. Service was attentive and prompt throughout the meal. Our server checked in just the right amount, and everything came out hot and fresh. It's clear the kitchen takes pride in their food, and the front of house makes sure guests feel welcome. Definitely a place we'll be coming back to, highly recommend!

The food, service, and ambience were amazing. I was in town for work and the people I worked with recommended this place. I ordered the Toast Pork and Fig, the lasagna, and cappuccino and lemon taimasu for dessert. Everything was great. Lots of people I saw brought in there own wine for dinner. They also sell their own pasta and and sauce as well. Would definitely go back!

the service was pretty good but all of the pasta dishes were undercooked. the calamari was my favorite but the other dishes were missing something. the various dessert options looked tasty too but i didn't get to try any. the area where this is located is a cute downtown space, the exterior of the restaurant is nice.

outside

very small home style restaurant. amazing service and even better food. from the bread to appetizers then main courses and even dessert, everything was amazing. will definitely be coming back

Their sister restaurant (Toscano) is getting a lot of love but this place is excellent. Good service, fresh food and a nice ambiance . This restaurant is BYOB which is also a nice plus! The food: homemade pasta, excellent sauces and delicious apps. The meat quality seems quite high as well. I got a chicken cutlet topped with vodka sauce and cheese. Amazing. My wife got pasta the two times we went. Both excellent.

Ricotta Gnocchi and Shrimp Scampi both were delicious!

Angelo's Trattoria is my favorite restaurant and the best kept secret. If you could get a reservation here, do it! The service is fantastic. The food is always delicious and the ambiance is amazing. Great for a date night or out with another couple or small group.

My husband and I went there last night for our Anniversary and it did not disappoint us. We started out with muscles mariner, and they were delicious. Also had a pork fried egg roll which was outstanding. We split the Angelo's salad which was also delicious. My husband had Pesce fried Diablo with homemade pasta. Excellent. I had the steak with potatoes also very good. The service was outstanding. Our waitress told us that they had a couple new bus people they were on point with clearing our plates quickly. Dress is casual. It's a small place but it filled up quickly. Definitely would recommend a reservation. But not least the dessert was amazing. Highly recommend this quaint little place in Bordentown!

What a great little spot. The inside is super cozy and the service is fantastic. They do have a few outside tables in front as well. The food was amazing. All the pasta is fresh made and it shows in the flavor. The Emma's meatballs were delicious as well as the grilled octopus, the barata cheese special, and all of the appetizers we had. The chicken and shrimp fra Diavlo was amazing. The lamb special in steak specials I was told were great as well and perfectly cooked. The eggplant parm ravioli special was a hit for those that ordered that. Gnocchi And the chicken cutlet and pasta were delicious as well. Save room for dessert because they have some great selections as well. The bandino was heavenly as well as the whiskey butter cake. Definitely will be going back here. Best part, BYOB!

You really can't beat the homemade pasta. You're able to sub any pasta in any dish. Usually need a reservation, it's not very big inside.

A cozy bar area greets customers if you want to grab a drink while waiting to be seated. They also offer upstairs seating, rounding out a welcoming and highly professional atmosphere that has stood the test of time.   THE FOOD * Bread Service: The bread arrived with a tasty honey, chive, thyme, salt, and pepper butter, which was a nice touch. * Kumamoto Oysters: Ice cold and refreshing. They were complemented with cocktail sauce, watermelon mignonette, and fresh grated horseradish. * Crab Salad Special: Served in a martini glass. It featured cold, chilled crab marinated with tequila, triple sec, and lime, carefully laid on a bed of avocado mousse with an Old Bay-lined rim. Delicious and refreshing during a hot summer evening. * Tri-Color Beet Salad: A roasted beet and citrus salad with whipped ricotta and a pistachio honey vinaigrette that provided rich bites. * New York Strip: Sourced from Allen Brothers in Chicago. A showstopper with excellent crust and beef flavor. We ordered the Au Poivre sauce, which was tasty, but the steak was so good on its own that I ended up using the sauce for my sides! * 14 oz Center Cut Filet: Also sourced from Allen Brothers. Tender as expected with a wonderfully executed crust. * French Bordeaux Wines: We ordered the Chateau Loudenne Medoc and the Chateau De Sales Pomerol. Both were tasty, medium-to-full-bodied, and served as excellent accompaniments to the steaks. * Tuna Special: Nicely seared tuna served over vegetables and udon noodles. * Limoncello Pistachio Tiramisu: Very light and a nice end to the meal. * Kentucky Butter Cake: Served in a cast-iron pot with vanilla ice cream. Yummy and rich.   THE SERVICE Our server, Gene, has been with the restaurant for 8 years and provided exceptional service. He was knowledgeable about the menu and offered excellent recommendations, pointing out standout options like the pastrami-dusted bone-in filet and the 45-day aged tomahawk topped with a root beer bourbon bacon compound butter.   OVERALL A great steakhouse experience with a highly professional staff and a kitchen that flawlessly executes high-quality steaks. Excellent for special occasions or an upscale business dinner.

Another Wonderful Evening at Marcello's!…read more My wife and I enjoyed another outstanding dinner at Marcello's in Bordentown this past Saturday with my sister and brother-in-law. A special thank you to the Marcello's management team for accommodating our request for a table by the window. It's our favorite spot in the restaurant, and we truly appreciate the extra effort. Our server, Olivia, was absolutely terrific! She was friendly, attentive, and extremely knowledgeable about both the food and drink menus. Her warm personality and excellent service made a wonderful evening even better. We hope to have her as our server again soon! To start, I enjoyed the Smokey Guava Sangria, while the ladies loved the Mango Sangria, and my brother-in-law was very happy with one of the featured draft beers. We shared the bruschetta and eggplant rollatini, followed by the Cacio e Pepe with zucchini and Chicken Francese. We somehow managed to save room for the crème brûlée and New York cheesecake, and they were the perfect ending to a fantastic meal. From the outstanding food and exceptional service to the warm hospitality, everything was perfect. Marcello's continues to be one of our favorite restaurants, and we look forward to returning again soon!

Walking in the hostesses greeted us and asked to take our coats and umbrellas. They were very complimentary of us and also gave me a single stem rose when they heard it was my birthday. Our waiter and the staff were very attentive throughout the night and wanted to ensure we wanted for nothing. The food from the complimentary bread, olive, olive oil and prosciutto to the cocktails to the entrees and cannoli for dessert were a 10/10! We had not a single recommendation for improvement.
