Had a business luncheon today . First time diners. We had an excellent luncheon. Rack of us had different entrees. While they had a excellent selection of entrees on the menu, they also had four luncheon specials as well as appetizers. I had salmon done over a bed of spinach. It was accompanied by a nice garden salad with vinaigrette dressing. We also had bread as well as oils to dip it in. Our server ( Sergio) was efficient but not intrusive. My host paid the tab so I am not sure of the pricing. Even if I was paying, based on the quality of the cuisine, I would be pleased. Overall. An excellent luncheon experience. We will be back. Started with French onion soup and something about it just tasted off, almost sour tasting, I had a few bites and the waitstaff had already circled back to ask if I was done so I let them take it away as it wasn't worth trying to finish. It was also served in a regular soup bowl versus a crock with a slice of cheese on top. Then went onto the "homemade pappardelle bolognese" and again unfortunately it wasn't great, at all, I had maybe two bites of it, had my husband try a bite to make sure it wasn't just me but we both agreed it was off and maybe tasted like grease. At that point I gave up and the waitstaff took it back and I declined to take any home. I'm surprised in that moment they didn't ask if something was wrong as it was mostly untouched, but it wasn't our waiter that took it away. We had a Luncheon at Villa Barone for my son's 1st birthday party. Cesare was very accommodating while planning everything. They let us come 2 hours ahead to decorate, and reserved the whole back section for our 30 guests. The food was fantastic - still dreaming about the Salmon! And the servers were very attentive and helpful. Compared to many other restaurants, their pricing for a party was extremely fair, plus they are BYOB and don't charge if you bring your own dessert like many do. In addition, they don't have a minimum headcount for a luncheon, which is also refreshing to see and made planning much easier. My husband and I ordered dinner to be delivered. Unfortunately, the salad I order was missing half of the ingredients, including the chicken. My husbands salad and the eggplant rollatini was correct, but was just ok, bland and lacked a lot of taste. We did call the resturant about the issues with my salad, however, they blamed it on the delivery service and refused to give us any credit. I am extremely disappointed in how their lack of customer service as well as the food. We will not be ordering or eating in the restaurant again. read more

I've been here a few times in the distant past and it's taken me way too long to revisit. We came early midweek and found only one other table seated, but as others have noted, if you come during prime dinner hours it might be busy. Our server was pleasant and friendly, but possibly new on the job. She didn't quite recite all of the evenings specials, but I had a feeling I'd try the chicken parm anyway. I did, and also an order of clams casino. That app raised this review into 4 star range. These were done in a way I prefer, whole clam at bottom with cooked stuffing on top, noticeable bacon included as well. I would be very happy with 20 of these and some crusty bread. The chicken parm was also better than average. I liked the breading and it was not over sauced or soggy. Good chicken too. My only critique would be to improve the sauce. While it tasted ok, my co diner's pomodoro sauce looked and smelled amazing. I'd ask for that to be substituted if possible. I recall them serving the fresh out of pizza oven puffy bread( or so I thought?) but the light and fluffy doughy bread with light cheese crust was pretty good, and a nice spruced up olive oil to go with it. Came here for a friend's surprise dinner in a group of 9. Service was pretty slow and waiters were inattentive, we ran out of water + bread within 20ish minutes and no one came to replenish us. Waiters also took an hour to take our orders plus another half hour to bring out all of our food. My dish was okay, tasty but very salty and price was a bit steep (about $33 after taxes, tip, and credit fee). Grabbed lunch from here recently and was pretty darn happy with my meal. First, the food was ready when they said it would be, so that's always a big plus. I got the Italiano panini and it was definitely tasty - nothing too crazy, but it packed a decent amount of flavor. I was expecting to dislike the house salad (not a huge fan of lettuce - I prefer spinach) but the dressing was pretty good and masked the taste of the lettuce pretty well :) My wife got the prosciutto caprese sandwich and thought it was only OK - I sampled it and agreed that it was worse than my panini. Great Italian restaurant in Robbinsville. Casual environment, kind of small, but with the nice ambiance from the dim lighting it makes it a nice place to go out without breaking the budget. Excellent pasta dishes. Recently had the vodka rigatoni as it's one of my friend's favorites... just happened to be craving it. So saucy, creamy and cheesy. The sauce has so much flavor. The prosciutto definitely adds a great savor to the dish. Large portion as to be expected from an Italian restaurant. If I didn't have any self-control I could have easily finished my plate in one sitting and licked the plate clean because it was so good. Always had excellent service here. Terrible customer service and support. We went here for dinner with a group of friends for the first time and were disappointed. We ordered the mozzarella ball appetizer which came out cold, then was brought back out (the same platter) simply reheated and mashed up like soup. We had a few friend with us order off the kids menu, and the waiter took it no problem instead of stating that they had to get adult portions. When the check came we had been charged TWENTY TWO DOLLARS for chicken tenders. When we mentioned there was no chicken tenders on the adult menu, therefore we didn't know how much we would be charged we were met with attitude and an unhelpful disposition. Truly unbelievable. I reached out to Villa Barone a few times and did not get a response. We order take out from here often and the food is always delicious. However, a few weeks ago we got calamari and it was extremely greasy and chewy. There were also a ton of the tentacles - a few thrown into an order is fine but this was overkill. I know that getting calamari to go can be a challenge but we have never had this experience before from other restaurants. I even put it on a paper towel when we got home to get some of the grease but it was soooo chewy that it was inedible. For the price of their food, I would expect something different. I go to Villa Barone 4 or more times a year for the past 12-15 yrs, I have never been disappointed. Last night was no exception, Hector our server knows my 2 friends & I well, he doesn't even bring us Menu's because he know we will be ordering one of the nightly specials. As he brought us to our table he made mention that Veal Chop was one of the specials, he knows it's a favorite of ours. We started with 2 appetizer specials, Mussels, clams, sausage & Long Hot in a red Fra diavolo sauce. The other app was stuffed portobello with Jumbo Shrimp, both were outstanding. The Veal Chop didn't come with the sauce I & my friend Joe would have liked, so as always Hector accommodated us with Crab meat in a Garlic Cream sauce. But, in both instances, the food was great, service excellent, and price point slightly less than other Italian places in the area. For my dinner visit, I ordered the Chicken Cacciatore. It was fabulous; so moist, full of flavor and simply delicious. Probably one of the best cacciatores I've had! I had their Chicken Marsala for lunch; also very good! For a Sunday night shortly before closing time, this little restaurant right off of Routes 130/295/195 sure was accommodating. Stopping in for a quick bite on my drive home, I opted for the Tartufo, which is pretty much a ball of chocolate with gelato and a cherry inside. For the price, you couldn't beat it. My friend chose the Mozzarella alla Romano appetizer and raved about the dish. We'd definitely stop back in if in the area in the future for a full meal. But more than any other factor about this place -- more than the food or decor or location -- what stood out to me the most was the service. We went their on a rainy, thunderstorms day! Chilly outside. No power when we went. But they were very polite and said, cash only, can dine in. Just my wife and I went in and the food was super classy! The Garlic bread came almost like a pizza! Great flavor and super hot. To start we shared a few orders of claims casino & stuffed mushrooms. Both appetizers were very good. Our waiter was fantastic and the rest of the staff was extremely attentive. For dinner I had the Chicken Cardinale: chicken sauteed with roasted peppers, topped with fresh mozzarella in a blush sauce. I really enjoyed this entree and it was recommend by our waiter. Food orders were incorrect. Waiter was short with us. The other attendant at the table didn't understand English or speak English.

My wife and I came in for dinner a few nights ago. The food was acceptable, nothing to praise or disparage. With limited capacity the meal came out quickly. The reason for my two star review is because of the gentleman who asked "all done?" as he touched my plate and removed it from the table with his ungloved hand. Even after I said, "I'm still working" did he just take my food away. I looked shocked and another server asked me if everything was okay. I said, "No, that guy just took my food away." I never got it back, never got it to go, and never got an explanation or apology. I paid for a full meal pans only got to eat 2/3 of it. We won't be back for a good long while. read more
