    Shrimp Scampi

Tonight was our first time there and I can tell you it won't be our last. The restaurant looked so beautiful as we walked in. The hostess greeted us right away and sat us. Our waiter Ariel was very attentive. He was top notch with making us feel welcome. The Pappardella bolongause was delicious. The shrimp scampi was awesome. We could not have been happier.

Held a baby shower for 27 people. Food was excellent and the staff was so helpful. I would highly recommend. Even though it is held in restaurant we had plenty of room and privacy with divider. As always an wonderful experience.

I've been here a few times in the distant past and it's taken me way too long to revisit. We came early midweek and found only one other table seated, but as others have noted, if you come during prime dinner hours it might be busy. Our server was pleasant and friendly, but possibly new on the job. She didn't quite recite all of the evenings specials, but I had a feeling I'd try the chicken parm anyway. I did, and also an order of clams casino. That app raised this review into 4 star range. These were done in a way I prefer, whole clam at bottom with cooked stuffing on top, noticeable bacon included as well. I would be very happy with 20 of these and some crusty bread. The chicken parm was also better than average. I liked the breading and it was not over sauced or soggy. Good chicken too. My only critique would be to improve the sauce. While it tasted ok, my co diner's pomodoro sauce looked and smelled amazing. I'd ask for that to be substituted if possible. I recall them serving the fresh out of pizza oven puffy bread( or so I thought?) but the light and fluffy doughy bread with light cheese crust was pretty good, and a nice spruced up olive oil to go with it. House salads were ok. Prices are very fair here too. My next visit will be sooner than the decades wait of this last one.

If you're looking for the best pasta in NJ look no further. I've been coming here for many years and have never had better pasta than Villa Barone. I always order the same meal, pasta Bellissimo. Service is friendly and attentive and food comes out fairly quick. A bonus is that the restaurant is also BYOB. Perfect restaurant to come to for special occasions or host a baby shower, bridal shower or rehearsal dinner.

Came here for a friend's surprise dinner in a group of 9. Service was pretty slow and waiters were inattentive, we ran out of water + bread within 20ish minutes and no one came to replenish us. Waiters also took an hour to take our orders plus another half hour to bring out all of our food. My dish was okay, tasty but very salty and price was a bit steep (about $33 after taxes, tip, and credit fee). Be mindful that you are charged extra for paying with a credit card, I probably won't be coming back to this place again.

Online the restaurant is listed as BYOB. However, upon arrival we were informed that it was not BYOB, as they now had a liquor license. Okay then, please update your website. The server James was good, but not great. He failed to tell us that a salad came with the meal until after the four us had ordered soup, which was a separate charge. It was not a soup or salad choice with meal and nowhere is it listed on the menu. Lentil and a hearty chicken noodle were the soups of the day. Two of us had the lentil and two the chicken noodle. Both were served piping hot, and very tasty. The entrees were a decent portion and all were good, but not outstanding. The hot Italian Bread was very good. Usually don't find good Italian bread at many of the Italian restaurants in the area. This was an exception. Overall, I would rate it 3-1/2 stars out of 5.

The Veal Sorrentino sounded mouth watering by the ensemble cast of ingredients listed on the menu (prosciutto, eggplant, mozzarella, light marinara-white wine). Overall, this dish was very disappointing, I couldn't taste any flavor in the meal. Once again, the spaghetti from an Italian restaurant was lackluster as well, this is like ordering a wonton soup from a Chinese restaurant and it not meeting your expectations. We tried a gluten free pizza as well, my girlfriend enjoyed it. I can only describe the pizza being almost like a cracker. This is not neccessary a bad thing but think flatbread pizza, not the type of pizza where you get a nice chewy bite. At $50+ plus dollars between the two items I can say I am glad I gave it a shot but I would not bring home take out from here again, I would give it a try in person though and reevaluate after the experience. As always people SYOY!!!

As for the food, we had quite a off experience where the appetizers were really bad so we were worried for our special dinner: aranchini was too sweet and had a weird aroma. We had surf & turf, chicken parmesan rigatoni, scallop risotto, and miso glazed salmon. They were all spectacular! I would definitely go back and just skip appetizers Oh they also weirdly had a lot of ingredients missing that day so we couldn't order bunch of menu items or desserts but i think that was just a one time thing where they did not receive their shipment.

I felt like I was in the city with the gorgeous lighting and ambiance. My friend and I went on ladies night, where every Wednesday they have a DJ and 10% off food/drinks at the bar! The rice balls were stuffed with shredded beef instead of ground beef which I liked and the Gorgonzola cheese sauce was tangy and savory. The zucchini fritte was fried to a golden crisp and felt light and satisfying. The meat and cheese board is truly perfect for pairing with some pre-dinner drinks! Neither of us felt like drinking that night so I got the Stella Rose red berry spritz and she got the black berry spritz. These were fruity and sweet and perfect for a night out. Great alcohol free options. For dinner I got the cacio e pepe which came in a huge serving. The pasta was cooked perfectly al dente and I really liked how creamy and cheesy it was without feeling too heavy. My friend got the eggplant rollatini which was a humongous portion and she devoured it and still had some for leftovers. These were both great meat-free options. For dessert I had the chocolate lava cake which was rich and decadent. Perfect for sharing but mine was all for me! My friend had the creme brûlée which she indulged on without a single bite to spare! Can't forget to mention the impeccable service!
