Bruschetta Crostini
Jerry P.

It is a curious thing that I live only a few minutes from Gennaro's yet almost never find myself dining there on my own. Perhaps it is because the meals I have there are so strongly tied to business dinners that my subconscious now associates the place with productivity instead of pleasure. That said, these dinners occur every few months, and I have rarely left disappointed. Our gatherings usually follow a familiar rhythm. A basket of bruschetta appears, accompanied by a simple salad that does its job without fanfare. Soon after come the main courses: ziti, chicken parmesan, and a steak dish, served family style, along with a medley of vegetables to make us all feel marginally virtuous. The food is reliably good, hearty, and satisfying. Every so often the kitchen's enthusiasm for salt outpaces mine, but never enough to spoil the evening. Dessert brings an assortment of pastries and petits fours, which make for a civilized end to the meal. Service is always friendly, professional, and attentive without hovering. The private back room where our group meets is comfortable and well-suited for conversation, a small haven where ideas are exchanged and plates are emptied at roughly the same pace. Four stars because nothing is perfect, but Gennaro's comes close enough for government work. If I ever start dining there on my own, I'll consider that a personal milestone.

Went to Gennaro's for dinner while visiting family in Hamilton. We made a reservation, so we were seated immediately after entering. It's a pretty nice restaurant, and it was pretty packed. Service was a bit slow, it took awhile before someone came to take our orders, though they did provide water. Our waitress was friendly and answered any questions we had regarding the food. But it did take long for our food to come out. I got to try the Potato Pizza, the plain Tomato pie, the shrimp scampi pasta, and the artichoke heart francese. Pizzas were OK. I've definitely had better Trenton Tomato Pies in the area. The shrimp on the shrimp scampi was overcooked, but the sauce was good. The artichoke heart francese was an appetizer, but it was my favorite thing. It could have passed for chicken francese with it's excellent texture.

Went to dinner with the family and sat outside. The breeze was perfect. Service was quick and very nice. I tried the Plum & Tonic and my wife tried the Cosmo. Both pretty good. Appetizers were fantastic my favorite was the sweet & spicy calamari. For my entree I had the chicken sorrentino. For dessert I had the pistachio ricotta cake.

Solid Italian restaurant in the area that we've been coming to for years. Lots of delicious, fresh, & flavorful dishes, some being out of the box. Pizza is great & so is the Vodka Chicken Parm. Ambiance inside is a nice and a little upscale feeling. Is pretty expensive, but not too much worse than most Italian in the area. Would definitely recommend.

Multicourse dinner out of this world Gennaros always such a great job. We had starters with Pizza Margarita two types of pasta stuffed mushrooms, great calamari.

Gennaro's is nestled in a strip mall on the Robbinsville/Hamilton stretch of Route 33 where there's no shortage of Italian eateries. I would say compared to other area restaurants, they got a bit of an edge in ambiance and atmosphere, which makes them ideal for date night, getting together with friends, or a family meal. They were decorated nicely for the holidays on a recent lunch visit with festive music playing. Meals start off with complimentary bread which is always a decent way to begin a meal. We got a variety of items including garlic bread with cheese, a personal tomato pie, and a chicken parmigiana sandwich. There were no weak points as all the items were fresh and flavorful, prepared using quality ingredients. The garlic bread was delicious and cheesy without being overly greasy. I am not the biggest fan of tomato pies as it's not in my wheelhouse for preferred style of pizza, so I'm not the best judge of them, but all the ingredients were flavorful. It could have used a little more crisp, but was decent nonetheless. While the fries were average, I liked that the chicken parmigiana sandwich had a decent cut of chicken as lots of restaurants have the thinly sliced variety that's mostly breading. The accompanying tomato sauce was robust and meshed well with the chicken, cheese, and bread for a satisfying meal. While nothing was particularly exceptional, the food was solid Italian fare, which is high praise in this area where almost every shopping plaza has a pizzeria/Italian restaurant. Service was friendly and attentive throughout our meal. We'd definitely return to Gennaro's and recommend them to others looking for Italian cuisine in the Robbinsville/Hamilton area.

We love this restaurant, we've been coming since it first opened. We came for Christmas Eve dinner as a family and every single thing we ordered was delicious. Our service on Christmas Eve was also amazing, our waitress was very sweet and efficient. Their pizza is great especially the grandma pie.

Just not good- I've gotten food here countless times, both in person and takeout, and I somehow keep forgetting how mediocre it is. In person is slightly decent, but still not worth it. Theres so many better places in central NJ. The pasta comes with barely any sauce, the salad was flavorless, just genuinely not good.

Raw chicken disgusting

Trying to make customers sick smh as expensive as wings are the least you can do is cook them properly

Shrimp scampi and roasted chicken in the back.

Sausage pizza would describe as sausage flavored. I have gone to the restaurant for dinner and would go back. Their pizza was not very good.

This one is not affiliated with the much better one located on Rt 1 in Lawrenceville, though based on the same names, one might imagine it to be. Even though this store is large enough, I do not consider the selection to be all that it could be. I've been in smaller shops that have a much more varied beer selection. Especially refrigerated single bottles for when you need them right away. The wines are arranged by country and region, but not efficiently, the signage could be improved to make shopping for them easier. There are multiple case displays that have no rhyme or reason. You really just have to wander around looking at each choice. This may be a marketing ploy, but for me it makes things confusing, so I usually only get one or two bottles max. Prices are ok, but by shopping around you will notice that there are better prices elsewhere. They are aware of this fact too, and for people who live nearby they send out 20% off coupons in the local mailers. I've never had an issue with customer service here, but do find it annoying that if I want a bottle of Scotch, I have to wait for someone to unlock the case. Good spot for locals, or those passing by. Not a place I come to when I want to stock up. 3.5 bottles

I asked the "manager" where it said on the coupon that Canal's wouldn't honor it if they weren't making enough on it. He just kept repeating that it was nondiscountable. This was a regular priced item, not a sale item. I have bought that bottle (BV chardonnay) many times in the past. Now it's "nondiscountable." I've had a few other quirky transactions at Canal's, but this is the limit.

I think this is a first for me, a second update for a total of 3 reviews of the same business. And…read more2021 seems to be a year for updates as well. I can thank a global pandemic for renewing and invigorating my interest in fine spirits, and this shop in particular for having a depth of variety not found elsewhere in Hamilton or neighboring towns. Lately my drink of choice has been wine and cocktails, but previously and during the height of Covid, I became immersed in sours and ciders. This place has both in abundance, in fact I don't think it's possible to try all of them, as they keep getting new ones in. My trip today to find a new sour proved fruitful( pun intended) but also time consuming. I have learned from experience that it's helpful to bring my reading glasses with me, there's just so much new stock to view and labels seem smaller every year. Along with old favs I saw a number of new sours and settled on the lesser of 2 pricey options. I may have gone with the pricier one had there been someone with experience of the brewery and firsthand knowledge of its pedigree. That will probably haunt me until I go back and shell out the $ to try it myself;) I also took some time today to peruse the Scotch selection, which is also a favorite of mine in cooler weather. That is what prompted me to update this. It may not be the biggest of known shops to me, but the prices are amazing. I noticed that some of those items are on sale. There is no clear signage except for a small shelf tag which on some items show previous price. The specific item I was pricing was about $5 less than a place I thought was the lowest, this item was not on sale either. It appeared to be very nice gift boxy bottles from last holiday that were $10 or more off of the original. I'm definitely going back to take advantage of at least one of those. I also spent more time in the wine aisles. Again great prices on some of the more upscale but still widely available Ca wineries. I think the selection is very good but again not quite as good as Canals. However I think they will match or beat most prices. Customer service in general is very good, esp at the checkouts. I think having a wine/ and or beer expert around at all times would be beneficial to this store. I asked again while at the register and was told he would be in later in the day. So it seems that this is a q they get and there is an expert on hand some of the time. It's also cool that they have food trucks around on the weekends. There are in store tastings too which I've not had a chance to try. Definitely my favorite liquor store by far for this extended area. Thanks for carrying so much local and craft brew items!

I'm a huge fan of Belgians and they have a pretty decent selection, although I wouldn't complain if it was a tiny bit more extensive :) Plenty of variety packs and a huge fridge full of stuff ranging from cheap college swill (which I like, depending on my mood!) to crazy craft beers that I'll probably never buy because they're a little too expensive. Staff are helpful and the lines move reasonably quickly. I've never tried the food trucks but it's definitely a cool option to have on site. I don't usually drink wine or liquors but the many, many shelves of both tell me that you're probably in luck if you're looking for something :) Overall, this place is one of my staples and I'll continue to shop here when I'm looking for something new, interesting, and affordable.

I went back today, and there are virtually no third party reviews all the reviews have no reference, no vintage and are all positive. I asked one of the managers why they removed all the independent reviews. He said all the ones shown are from wine spectator even if not indicated. When I said, "so we can't judge anymore." On a drive…read morearound Fieldsboro/Bordentown before we moved here, this place immediately caught my eye as a purveyor of intoxicating spirits. It just has that "look," from the branded signage on the front windows, to the painted-on sign up front that's missing a few letters, to the fast comings and goings of customers going in and out to grab their $9 handle of vodka in a plastic bottle, lotto ticket, a tall boy of icy cold Busch Light, or some IPA that costs $15 for a 6 pack. (Probably tobacco products as well since those too are a deadly, addictive vice. I fortunately never picked up that habit). The owners are friendly enough, perhaps "business-like" best describes it. Post-COVID measures in place include: - plexiglass between you and the cashier - hand sanitizer station up front - some displays were removed to open up the inside a bit - sign states no more than 5 customers inside at once - face coverings are required (and I didn't see anyone without one) -arrows guide you to avoid crowding the register and keep distance from fellow patrons I'm not sure if they do curbside pickup or not, I try to get in and out here. There is a chilled wine fridge with bubbly, white wine, and wine-like libations likely meant for those below legal drinking age. Prices aren't low, but they're less of a rip-off than another liquor store just down the street (which I occasionally frequent as well) and the service is faster. One star deducted because they once sold me a 4-pack of Guinness as pictured: EVERY can was damaged AND the cardboard was taped on the bottom. However, it was CLEAR packing tape, which I found very deceptive. The cardboard covers up the cans because there's an implicit trust there. Unfortunately, liquor mart violated that. Oh well, it was drinkable anyway in a glass. Big bonus points awarded for the featured NJ-made booze from beer to wine to liquor. Very nice to support our small businesses "in these times" (god I hate hearing that every day. Buying local at this mom and pop liquor stop can accomplish that two fold! Parking is abundant and liquor mart is conveniently across from the large ACME plaza if you need to visit a crappy grocery store for actual sustenance. Said plaza also has Starbucks, a pizza place, UPS store, get it all done right here! But priorities, priorities..
