I'm not sure if I've ever shopped in one of their stores, a hunt for Albariño brought me here a few days ago. As I walked in I noticed it had a wide open warehouse like feel, no clutter. Also a cheese and snack section that was overlooked on this visit. I quickly was in the spirits section so looked at Scotches, some nice sale prices that I'll research in the future. In the tequila section I saw a unique mezcal and put it my cart right away. I didn't look at all the wines, just concentrated in Spain and Portugal, with the later having several nice options. Not the exact bottle I came in search of, but enough to find a substitute. I then turned my focus to beers. I think the selection was ok, not stellar. I didn't find anything new, but was happy to see offerings by some of the better local(NY, and Pa) breweries. I didn't leave empty handed. At the register the female cashier enrolled me in the bottle club, which immediately saved me $5 bucks! No email needed. Normally this location is very good the younger employees are very polite and helpful. However an old woman behind the counter borderline accused me of having a fake i.d. (Im 21) she was very confrontational and aggressive and told me she was happy to refuse service when I pointed out how she was acting. Very unprofessional and disappointing experience compared to the usual staff. read more

First time in this place although I pass it all the time. I needed a bottle of wine for something specific. So I stopped in. This place was awesome. What a selection of wine and prices were decent. I spoke to employee to help me out but he wasn't grasping what I needed. The cashier helped me find someone who could and directed me to 2 wonderful people who were more than happy to help. I was in and out there, it was great. They found what I needed at a price I could afford. Definitely can't wait to go back there and actually buy more wine and a few other bottles that caught my eye. Prior to the arrival of Bottle King earlier this year, East Windsor was limited to small, independently owned liquor stores that scraped by with the bare minimum of service and selection. Bottle King changed the game - with its superstore that features a huge selection of beers, wines and liquors at great prices. In the liquor category, BK stocks some hard-to-find rums from the likes of Jamaica and Barbados. The store is clean, well-organized, well-lit and adequately staffed. I love the Saturday wine/food tastings - that occasionally feature celebrities! My only gripe - and it's a minor one - is that sometimes the checkout area is understaffed and you have to wait a bit in line. For the holiday rush, they were however staffed up. I live in Ocean County by the shore. Can't find a bottle of wine anywhere for under $10. Like most people I'm a bit overwhelmed with the choices in most liquor stores so I'llI'll try a 15 or $20 bottle of wine and often be disappointed later. No such problem at bottle King. They have tons of wine priced under $10 or under. Look for the close out bins out by the checkout lines which shockingly are often times very good. I will buy several bottles of each take them home and then run back over later and buy a case of the ones I like. Much better choice, love this place. The beer and spirits are also great prices-wish they were all over New Jersey. read more

Hands down, one of my favorite liquor stores is Bottle King. I'm so glad it opened up because it is conveniently located in the center of town and has a wonderful selection of wines, liquors, and beers. I came here to picked up a bottle of wine, but I could look at the wine selection over over half an hour checking out the different types they have. Also, some of the people here are very knowledgeable and can offer great suggestions and recommendations! Even the prices of the liquor and wines are pretty good! I don't think they are discounted, but they are not overpriced. read more

I am visiting a relative in Belle Meade, NJ which is closest to the Hillsborough location for Bottle King. I shop there, regularly and recently joined their "club." Today, I attempted to place an order, via their website, to be delivered down the road to my relative's home. I used the same Visa Card that I have used for ALL of my purchases at their store, as well as Macy's, Walmart, Nordstrom's, etc. The order was submitted by was "Red Flagged" by the Manager because my billing address for my Visa is in Las Vegas?? It is the same card that I have always used at both the Princeton and Hillsborough locations?? Due to this GROSS mis judgement by the manager, I will no loner patronize this location. Pretty nice new store I just walked into the other day. It kind of reminded me of Bevmo in Los Angeles, in terms of layout, although the selection wasn't quite as good. There's a free membership card which gets you some nice deals, and all in all the prices are great. One thing, I wish that for the size of the store there was a greater variety of beers. There is a great variety, I just feel like there are too many of one item in a lot of cases, as well as a lot of empty space that could be holding more beer! All in all, though, this place is great. read more

Decent selection of beer. However most of their better craft beer selection is not refrigerated unlike some of the other liquor stores nearby. My biggest issue with this store is having to sign after being ID'd. To have this happen every time becomes a hassle because no other liquor store does this. read more

Since Bottle King opened early last year they have decimated the competition in and around the Heightstown/Monroe/West Windsor region with their spacious,well merchandised and bright mega store. Parking is commodious,shopping carts numerous and readily available,selection encyclopedic and fairly priced,staff friendly,knowledgeable and efficient and the refrigerated wine and beer section is maintained,stocked and beastly cold... No small feat and greatly overlooked by some vendors when a hot.parched customer want their chosen libation ready to drink almost immediately. I do have an issue with the selection of vintage Ports and Sherry's as they seem like an after thought in this well patronized store and priced a bit over market. read more

Move over Windsor Wine & Spirits, there's a new liquor king in town. Right off of Rt 130, Bottle King offers a HUGE selection, reasonable prices, and a great location. It's not as big as Joe Canals in Lawrenceville, not even close, but this medium sized store really does have a ton of different options. The far side of the store is full of refrigerators stocked with beer which is great if you need stuff to drink soon and dont have time to let it chill in your on fridge. Their liquor selection is solid, but I consider them more of a "beer" place than anything else. The only thing that really bothered me is that THEY DON'T SELL CHASERS. I bought a bottle of Crown when I stopped by last week and couldn't find any Coke in the store. Asked the manager who said they don't sell soda. What? How can you sell liquor and not offer anything to mix it with? Kind of just a bad business practice but hey, as a liquor/beer store, they've got everything else. read more

This shop has an unbelievable selection, both of wine and spirits, and is run by a great group of friendly folks. They're also much more willing to cater to their customers' custom orders than the folks at other well stocked shops like Astor Wines (tremendous selection there, but good luck getting access to anything allocated unless you own a restaurant). . Good selection. They stock single malt and brandys at all price points and from all over the world. They have wines from known producers of a specific country as well as some more esoteric ones. I've really become disappointed with this location. After spending at least a thousand bucks on wine for my cellar this past year, I was supposed to be kept in the loop for some allocated whiskey. Just wanted to update my review a bit. I went back to the store for some last minute Christmas gifts, the staff was friendly and approachable and helped me pick out just the right stocking stuffer for my husband. Delightful store - terrific prices and they have all my faves. I picked up favorite Kendall-Jackson Pinot Noir at a price that was 5 dollars less (per bottle!) than in the Monroe Shopping Center Liquor Store - for the same vintage year. Similarly good price on Simi Chardonnay which I've paid much more for elsewhere. Son on three bottles I saved $15 dollars.....They also have a yummy cheese selection which makes it all the better. Big store but now not what it started out to be. The cold craft beer selection dropped by at least 75%.Dominated by Bud,Miller,and the Meister Brau of Mexico,Corona. Hint: never build on a divided highway. No one will turn around no matter how good your prices are. Checkout is still something that they haven't figured out. Often ridiculous. read more

Bottle king is well organized and easy to navigate if you know exactly what you are looking for. The liquor is on the right side of the store, wines in the middle, beers on the left, and mixers are on the far back wall. It's very nice and has alot to choose from. They have a ton of wines but are lacking in the craft beer selection. They only have a small corner dedicated to craft beers if that's what you are looking for which is typically what I am there for. They recently added a section right as you walk in for cheeses and foods. Nice addition. read more

I typically shop for wine at Joe canals at princeton...stopped by here to see their wine collection. Its decent but not quiet as extensive as joe canals. However, Bottle kings prices are slightly better...given its a little closer, I prefer to shop here. Only wish they will gradually increase their wine collection. They had maybe 3-4 diff varieties or oregon pinot noir, whereas Joe canals has probably dozens..... The scotch whiskey prices at BK however seemed a little higher...Regardless competition is better! read more

Decent-enough liquor store. I would make only two suggestions: 1) fix your front-end. A supervisor should be bringing the cashier cigarettes. Where they are now, the cashier has to leave his/her cash register (the DUMBEST thing EVER in a liquor store) and walk about 30 feet to the cigarette case. It slows things down and opens the store up to a robbery and 2) that parking lot. Uy.... I cannot tell you how many times I was almost rear-ended as my car's backend was hanging off onto route 130 while the people in the parking lot TAKE THEIR DAMNED TIME pulling in. Arg! This is the most customer friendly store ! Juan and his staff are very knowledgeable and are extremely pleasant. Craft Beer and wine selection is superior to any Canals, and 5 times better than Buy Rite ! The prices are very reasonable ! I find every trip to this store an adventure. Why?? because I made a couple of errors .... 1) I complemented and used the Managers name , oops he let me know he wasn't happy about that. 2) I guess I made a generality about the wine selection being so great. May not be tremendously HUGE....BUT THEY do have a very knowledgeable Wine Manager who has set me onto the the wines I needed. I think its a great thing . They have a good selection and reasonable prices. My big problem is that they keep their restrooms locked. Last time it took15 minutes to find the manager with the key. Today again I tried, waited and had to drive off. I don't get the point. Almost a daily visitor here, I would hope they understand their beer customers better;-) read more

I love Bottle King for their prices. Everything is much more reasonable than most liquor stores in the area. They sadly put the little mom and pop liquor out of business on the 130 and I saw that coming a mile away. The store is laid out very well and you don't become overwhelmed like other liquor warehouses. The customer service is awesome, there's this one cashier who is super nice. Bottle King will always be favored because of their prices and variety in comparison to nearby liquor stores. That being said, from a customer experience standpoint, it's pretty terrible. There are so many young employees walking around the store, yet there are rarely ever enough registers open to prevent long lines from forming and the fridges haven't been getting restocked as of late. The empty fridge racks just look ugly. I've literally gone to other liquor stores if I'm in a rush. I'm giving it a 3 because I will continue to shop here and am optimistic that the store will recognize these flaws and act on them. I'm also aware that my experiences could have been coincidental, although I go there enough to justify this review. read more

For selection and price I give this a five, however it is constantly understaffed at the cash register. Typically they wait until the checkout line backs up half a mile, and then they page someone to open another register. However out of their six registers at most three will be open. So if you don't mind it taking 20 minutes to pick up a six pack, I would recommend this place. read more

huge store with a big selection and low prices.. what more could you ask for?

Cashier needs sensitivity training! I ran into this store today to get some boxes for my pregnant daughter who is moving into a new home. Last Thursday I was in this store to buy alcohol for a Labor Day party we were having on Sat. I inquired about the boxes with the cashier, who told me they are free, and to help myself. Well today as I was walking out the door with (4) boxes I heard a lady say loudly, "apparently some people don't listen" I turned around and asked her if she was referring to me, and she responded that yes she was and that they have a (4) box limit. I then told her that I did NOT hear her say that, and if that was so then she didn't need to talk to me like I was a child. A simple, :excuse me miss, we have a 4 box allowance" would have been the correct way to deal with me. I asked for a manager because I couldn't believe how rude she was. I felt humiliated, like I was trying to steal something here. The manager also humiliated me, by asking me if I had ASKED to take some boxes, which I did not. I wasn't aware that i should have, after the cashier the week b4 telling me to help myself. The manager handled it alll wrong, and should have said it was no big deal..at this point i felt so humiliated I walked out without the boxes. Needless to say my family will never shop there again. We have spent alot of money in that store since they opened. Over $200 for my daughters baby shower which we had about 60 people. And just this past Thursday spent a little over $100. Not to mention my husband buys beer there on a weekly basis, and I get some wine. Now they have lost what amounts to quite a bit of money from us, and most likely our friends, all over a couple free boxes... read more
