    Fish Tacos
    Matt G.

Wow! A fantastic experience from start to end. Entering the restaurant you're greeted by a very homey decour, which was even further decorated with accents to match the holiday season. I will say, even the bathroom was decorated to instill a sense of nostalgia. We went for brunch and started with a duck mac and cheese. As you'd expect it was a bit lighter on the duck than one would like, but was ultimately well worth trying. I'd say this goes even moreso if you're a fan of duck, as that's not the mac and cheese pairing you see most often. Beyond that, I got the fish tacos. I'm typically afraid of ordering tacos out due to portion size, and while you do only get two tacos, they are rather large, and come with a side of truffle fries which were exceptional. The tacos themselves were also fantastic and filled with the flavor you'd want and expect from the dish. While we were too full to engage with a dessert, I will say our server was nothing short of delightful and we had a wonderful time. The restaurant is in a great location in downtown Bordentown and we will certainly be revisiting when we are back in the area.

Greet spot to meet friends for brunch. There are a few tables on the street and plenty of seating inside. There's something on the menu for everyone. I couldn't decide if I wanted Breakfast or lunch so I went with avocado toast. Three large pieces of toast and a scrambled egg. We also got French toast to share for the table. I wish it was a fluffier piece of bread but still had a great flavor. Our server was t great but hey we all have bad days. It didn't take away from our meal and we'd totally be back for more! BYOB

The seating and wall decor are so quaint and cute. I loved the boho rustic style. Our food came back fast after ordering. The wings for an appetizer were great! My Cuban sandwich was good and thick albeit not very flavorful. For a quick bite on a small road trip, this place was well worth it.

Work lunch meeting and was pleasantly surprised to see duck mac n cheese on the menu. Also had the strawberry salad. Was able to eat outside in a beautiful summer day. Service was good!

Lovely aesthetic in this little cafe. I got the Peruvian beef stew with tostones, fantastic flavor even if the beef was a little on the tough side. Definitely worth coming back to!

We had a lovely date night here!! It is BYOB!! And you DEF want to BYOB bc they have a wonderful sangria pitcher ready to go for your wine, with a ton of fresh fruit. I got beef empanadas and crispy Brussels. LOVED IT! I've had their sister stores empanadas before (NOSH) and these are different take on them and still delicious, they're very crispy and juicy lol. My husband got the steak and fries and enjoyed it thoroughly. 10/10 experience. We sat outside and ate, around 7:30pm, and it was just so very peaceful. We will be back!

Was in the area for vacay! I'm glad we stopped by this cute spot for brunch. The interior was cute, but unfortunately, there were many flies flying around the restaurant, so we asked to sit outside. The weather was gorgeous, though, so no complaints there. We ordered iced coffee; unfortunately, the only sweeteners were sugar packets, so the coffee was meh. The food itself was great. I ordered the caprese sandwich, which came w/ truffle fries, both of which were delicious! My boyfriend ordered the fish tacos, which were SO yummy. I kind of wish I ordered them instead lol. The food made up for the move outdoors. I recommend for anyone visiting the area!

Tapas: patatas bravas, tortilla española, manchego

Third or fourth time here, this time for a date night with my husband - good is always delicious and on point. Service is caring and attentive. I have pretty high expectations for tapas and this place clears every hurdle. Tortilla like my friend's mom used to make - extremely generous portion in its own right. Machego cheese with honey, sprinkles of lavender and apple (yum!) and potatoes roasted to perfection - aioli on tortilla and potatoes are delish. My husband ordered the short ribs - a favorite anywhere else and especially here. You could tell they were slow roasted. Hands down favorite tres leches cake. Has a slight crunch with a sugary layer - just wow. Will be back again for my fifth visit and thought this was the perfect cozy date night getaway. Have been here for a birthday and it was also a wonderful place to throw a birthday dinner too. BYOB a plus. Cheers!

We stopped in to Under the Moon for a casual weeknight dinner & could not have been happier with our choice! For appetizers we got the crispy Brussel sprouts and the garlic parmesan wings. Both were super flavorful & cooked perfectly. For our entrees we got the specials--the crab cake with aoli & a mango salsa plus the cherry tomato spinach risotto. Both were delicious--super flavorful and cooked well. The risotto was the perfect consistency and not over or under cooked. On top of it all our server was extremely friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. We also loved the perfectly eclectic and cozy decor! We couldn't have been happier with our visit and will be back!

Under the Moon in Bordentown, NJ, never disappoints! Every visit is a culinary delight, with everything on the menu being absolutely delicious. The tapas, in particular, are always on point, offering a perfect mix of flavors and creativity. The ambiance is warm and inviting, making it a great spot for a relaxed meal. Service is consistently excellent, with the staff always attentive and welcoming. It's clear that they take pride in making sure every guest has a memorable experience. We'll definitely be back for more--highly recommended. Tonight, we ordered tapas and entrees and as usual, everything was delicious. We will come back again and again.

Under the moon is a place we've been to several times with a unique, warm ambiance and interesting menu. The food has been overall very good. Excellent desserts -- the crêpe cakes are unbelievable. BYO wine and they will turn it into sangria for you.

After coming here multiple times now I'm going to have to give Under The Moon Cafe 5 stars. It's such a unique restaurant serving a diverse menu with an Argentinian flair. The restaurant is in a 1930's atmosphere which is also unique. My favorite dishes are the Ropa vieja, chicken napolatana, gnocchi in vodka sauce, and their risotto specials. Today I had the chicken napolatana and the sauce was so DELICIOUS and flavorful! The gnocchi dinner are like soft pillows of heaven! The Ropa vieja was also tender and flavorful. The noodle bowl is good, but not my favorite dinner. Those are all the entrees I tried so far. As far as appetizers I usually get the soup of the day which is always very good! The empanadas are also EXCELLENT! The chicken wings we thought were ok/good. For dessert the apple crumb cake is FANTASTIC! You have to order it! The banana chocolate chip bread pudding is Amazing if you ask to warm it up until it gets soft. It isn't good if you don't tell them prior to ordering it because then it's too stiff. Today I told my waitress to warm it up until soft and WOW it made a big difference! We are still dreaming of it! One complaint is the brownie and peanut butter cheesecake with the brownie on the bottom is too dry. Putting the brownie in the refrigerated case dries it out. I love the peanut butter cheesecake part on top, but did not enjoy the dry brownie on the bottom. I absolutely love it here, and highly recommend dining at Under The Moon Cafe in Bordentown!

Heart of Bordentown! How wonderful, how tragic, how appropriate. If you grew up in America, you already know this place, even if you have never set foot in New Jersey. Sticky floors. PBRs at three dollars a pop. A shot roulette wheel. The smell of old beer and older hope. And a menu that could be printed on the back of a cocktail napkin: wings, burgers, fried somethings that used to be animals. Tofu even makes a cursory appearance. I ordered a whiskey and ginger ale, and they did not ask me what kind of whiskey, either because there was not a choice, or because in a place like this, the existential choice is always "yes." It came in a pint glass. Nine dollars. Heavy pour. Good enough for the likes of me. My wife asked for a vodka soda. "Is Tito's okay?" the bartender asked, displaying more concern for the quality of her spirit than the average congressman shows for the quality of his constituents. The regulars were loud, but they were not mean about it. A group of young women celebrated a birthday. The entire bar sang "Happy Birthday" with the ragged sincerity of a people who have seen too many Tuesdays. It was beautiful in a slightly tragic, terribly American way. In the midst of our singing, one bartender, still seemingly a bbit green behind the ears, forgot how to make a Malibu Bay Breeze. Cannot blame him. Our rendition was raucous. Or maybe he just was not built for tropical cocktails. In any case, what is remembered about a drink like that is not the technique, but the intention. Listen: if you come here, order a beer. Or a simple mixed drink, no more than two ingredients, no more dreams than that. Stick to the wings or the burger. Nachos if you're feeling adventerous. Expect nothing fancy, and you might just find yourself accidentally, briefly, happy.

We decided to move sections because we wanted to sit near a window since it was so dark in the main dining area. Unfortunately, we got the same server. Also, it was a very hot day and it did not seem like they had the AC on. Weird. The food and drinks were meh. I ordered the peach sangria. It was decent. Not too strong and not too sweet. My dad ordered a Coors Light. They didn't have it on draft so he had to get a cold glass. He enjoyed it. Their cocktail menu was very limited considering they have a full bar. We ordered one appetizer which was the onion soup. For our entree's we ordered the the B2 Bistro Burger, Mustard crusted salmon, and grilled chicken pasta. The French Onion Soup was delicious. Very hot but flavorful. However, it could have used less salt. The Bistro Burger was good. Cooked to perfection and very juicy. The fries were a bit salty but still edible. The Mustard Crusted salmon was meh. The salmon itself wasn't very flavorful. The rice was pretty bland but the green beans were delicious. The grilled chicken pasta was probably the best dish of the evening. It was very flavorful, hot, and cooked to perfection. We really enjoyed that entree. I passed it on the way to my hotel and immediately decided it was a place I wanted to check out. I'll admit I was a little alarmed when I walked in and realized it was giving neighborhood bar energy instead of the chic bistro vibes is expecting. I happened to arrive during trivia night, and most of the patrons seemed really into it so it was much louder and rowdier than I anticipated. So much for a quiet dinner. I asked the hostess if I could be seated in a booth away from the activity, but even in a less crowded section, the atmosphere remained pretty overstimulating. In addition to the enthusiastic trivia-playing patrons, there were loud, animated conversations among various staff members, music playing from staff member's phone while music was already playing throughout the restaurant, and just a lot of competing noise. After a three-hour drive, I was really hoping for a glass of wine, a nice meal, and a more relaxed environment. That said, the staff were all incredibly friendly and pleasant. You could tell that they genuinely enjoy working there and enjoy each other's company, which made it difficult to be too annoyed. Eventually, I popped in my AirPods and dissociated so that I could focus on enjoying my meal. For dinner, the Chicken Francaise with a glass of the Italian Pinot Grigio (The name escapes me at the moment). The wine paired beautifully with the meal. The chicken itself was a fairly thick cut and cooked perfectly, but it could have used a bit more seasoning. I also would have loved to see some of the risotto sauce drizzled over the chicken because, while the texture was spot on, the flavor was a little underwhelming on its own. The green beans were excellent. Perfectly cooked with just the right amount of crunch and lightly seasoned. But the real star of the show was the Parmesan lemon risotto. That risotto is easily among the top three best risottos I've ever had. The brightness of the lemon combined with the creamy parmesan made for an absolutely unforgettable dish. I was genuinely disappointed that I couldn't finish it because every bite was fantastic. Honestly, I could have ordered a plate of that risotto by itself and left completely satisfied. While the atmosphere wasn't quite what I was looking for, the friendly service and that unforgettable delectable risotto made the visit worthwhile.

The beers were on the happy hour unless it was like two or three on tap so that was a little bothersome for me. It was hard to sort of follow what is and what Isn't but I think we'll give it a fair. The drinks (both alcoholic and non alcoholic) were also yummy. The staff were super accommodating as well which I really appreciated!! Of note, the restaurant bar stays open longer than the kitchen so make sure you check in with them on when the kitchen closes (it was around 10 when we went but things were still in flux so that may change!)

I was at this location of this Basque and Spanish restaurant a while ago with a group, with their…read moreoriginal location being in Harlem. The table we sat at was quite large, and I think it could have fit a few more people. The staff was friendly, and the lighting wasn't too dark, nor was it too loud. While I liked the atmosphere, I found the food, or rather specifically the tapas, to be not good at best, while the main dishes were better but also ranged in quality. The fact that the tapas we ordered were pretty closely priced to the mains means I would recommend the mains only based on portion and taste alone. To drink, a bunch of us split a bottle of wine from their large and pretty reasonably priced selection. The first tapas that arrived was something that I could not eat. This was the Pulpo Zarautz for $32, listed as octopus with garlic and merken seasoning served over mashed baby potatoes. The dish was small, and people thought it was OK as they found the pieces of octopus a tad chewy. They liked the spices but were surprised that the potatoes were a bit cool. The $24 Gambas Al Ajillo, with slow-cooked prawns, white wine, EVOO, garlic, and mermen, was alright. There was a handful of shrimp, and they were decently cooked, but the "ajillo," or rather, the garlic, was very light. Therefore, I found it a bit bland, which is almost never the case for this dish. I wouldn't recommend this based on price and flavor. Last and least of the tapas was the $22 Tortilla De Patatas, listed simply as a Spanish omelette. There was an option to add chorizo for $2 more, which we did. Along with the omelette, this also arrived with a few sauces and some pieces of crunchy bread, which were the highlight, as the omelette wasn't good either. The texture of the omelette was very different than any other Spanish omelette I've ever had. It was quite soft with a bit of chew, with a mild chorizo flavor. Along with the greenish color, it wasn't exactly appetizing. I wouldn't recommend this at all, but thankfully, that was the last tapas we ordered. My favorite of the main dishes was the Solomillo & Pebre for $28, listed as skirt steak topped with parsley and olive oil, with hand-cut fried potato and salad. While not the most tender, as it is a skirt steak, it was still well-flavored with the topping almost reminding me, to an extent, of a less oily version of chimichurri. The potatoes had a unique texture, being slightly crispy on the outside while remaining slightly soft in the middle. The salad on the side, which also arrived with one of our other mains, was a tasty mix and certainly more effort than a typical salad you find in many of these places. We also liked the $32 Costillas De Cerdito, with pork ribs in beer, mustard, and rosemary with hand-cut fried potato and salad. The pork ribs were flavorful, though I did find a bit of it to be a bit fatty, but some of that is expected with pork ribs. The mildly sweet and slightly rich sauce paired with the pork ribs. The same comments from before can be made about the potatoes and salad. Last was the OK Paella De Mariscos for $38, listed as rice cooked with shrimp, mussels, clams, prawns, and fresh saffron. The portion size was good, with a lot of mussels and clams in particular, and a handful of shrimp. Of the bite I had of the two large prawns, they were plump and juicy as well. However, the rice was both a bit bland and a tad mushy and felt a bit overcooked compared to many other paellas. There was some socarrat on the bottom as per usual, which was the best part. It's a bit difficult to rate this place. The spices, textures, and flavors were lacking from the overpriced tapas, and I honestly wouldn't recommend any of them. For the main dishes, they were tasty, but you can get a better-cooked skirt steak at many other places for a similar price. The ribs were decent, and the paella was just OK. If we only had the tapas, I probably would be giving this place a 1, but for the whole meal, an upper 2, rounded up.
