Took a stroll downtown Bordentown which had a couple interesting shops and a large number of restaurants. Decided on under the moon cafe and loved the atmosphere and ambiance when we first walked in. Different mix matched tables, glasses and plates. Loved the ceiling tiles and comfy looking benches. I love duck and when I read duck Mac and cheese with cherries I was lost in wonder of the combination of flavors so of course I had to order it. Surprisingly it was very enjoyable. The Mac and cheese was nicely made cheesy, noodles weren't over cooked and over all had good flavor with pieces of duck and a few cherries mixed in. I also ordered the burger which was cooked as requested medium rare and was topped with bacon and an onion ring. I upgrade to the Parmesan truffle fries.which I was slightly disappointed in. I didn't see or taste the Parmesan but there was a slight truffle flavor. The fish tacos I heard were good but not really blacked and the vodka sauce was just okay according to others at the table. read more

Wow! A fantastic experience from start to end. Entering the restaurant you're greeted by a very homey decour, which was even further decorated with accents to match the holiday season. I will say, even the bathroom was decorated to instill a sense of nostalgia. We went for brunch and started with a duck mac and cheese. As you'd expect it was a bit lighter on the duck than one would like, but was ultimately well worth trying. I'd say this goes even moreso if you're a fan of duck, as that's not the mac and cheese pairing you see most often. Beyond that, I got the fish tacos. I'm typically afraid of ordering tacos out due to portion size, and while you do only get two tacos, they are rather large, and come with a side of truffle fries which were exceptional. The tacos themselves were also fantastic and filled with the flavor you'd want and expect from the dish. While we were too full to engage with a dessert, I will say our server was nothing short of delightful and we had a wonderful time. Greet spot to meet friends for brunch. There are a few tables on the street and plenty of seating inside. There's something on the menu for everyone. I couldn't decide if I wanted Breakfast or lunch so I went with avocado toast. Three large pieces of toast and a scrambled egg. We also got French toast to share for the table. We had a lovely date night here!! It is BYOB!! And you DEF want to BYOB bc they have a wonderful sangria pitcher ready to go for your wine, with a ton of fresh fruit. I got beef empanadas and crispy Brussels. LOVED IT! I've had their sister stores empanadas before (NOSH) and these are different take on them and still delicious, they're very crispy and juicy lol. Was in the area for vacay! I'm glad we stopped by this cute spot for brunch. The interior was cute, but unfortunately, there were many flies flying around the restaurant, so we asked to sit outside. The weather was gorgeous, though, so no complaints there. We ordered iced coffee; unfortunately, the only sweeteners were sugar packets, so the coffee was meh. The food itself was great. We had a reservation for our anniversary and I am glad we chose here. Our server was very friendly and provided excellent recommendations. We got the Burrata toast appetizer which was full of flavor. Third or fourth time here, this time for a date night with my husband - good is always delicious and on point. Service is caring and attentive. I have pretty high expectations for tapas and this place clears every hurdle. Tortilla like my friend's mom used to make - extremely generous portion in its own right. Machego cheese with honey, sprinkles of lavender and apple (yum!) and potatoes roasted to perfection - aioli on tortilla and potatoes are delish. My husband ordered the short ribs - a favorite anywhere else and especially here. You could tell they were slow roasted. Hands down favorite tres leches cake. Has a slight crunch with a sugary layer - just wow. Will be back again for my fifth visit and thought this was the perfect cozy date night getaway. Its amazing how one part of your experience can ruin the entire dining experience. Unfortunately our server seemed to be in a rush with our meal. She came several times to ask us to order before our whole party arrived even though we were 30 minutes earlier than the reservation. After coming here multiple times now I'm going to have to give Under The Moon Cafe 5 stars. It's such a unique restaurant serving a diverse menu with an Argentinian flair. The restaurant is in a 1930's atmosphere which is also unique. My favorite dishes are the Ropa vieja, chicken napolatana, gnocchi in vodka sauce, and their risotto specials. Today I had the chicken napolatana and the sauce was so DELICIOUS and flavorful! The gnocchi dinner are like soft pillows of heaven! The Ropa vieja was also tender and flavorful. The noodle bowl is good, but not my favorite dinner. Those are all the entrees I tried so far. As far as appetizers I usually get the soup of the day which is always very good! The empanadas are also EXCELLENT! The chicken wings we thought were ok/good. For dessert the apple crumb cake is FANTASTIC! You have to order it! The banana chocolate chip bread pudding is Amazing if you ask to warm it up until it gets soft. It isn't good if you don't tell them prior to ordering it because then it's too stiff. Today I told my waitress to warm it up until soft and WOW it made a big difference! We are still dreaming of it! One complaint is the brownie and peanut butter cheesecake with the brownie on the bottom is too dry. Putting the brownie in the refrigerated case dries it out. I love the peanut butter cheesecake part on top, but did not enjoy the dry brownie on the bottom. Of all of the hot Farnsworth Ave. spots in Bordentown, Under the Moon is easily my favorite. Love the eclectic, bohemian decor, the fabulous brunches, the consistently reliable and attentive service, and of course the outstanding menu. Seating is a bit cozy, so if you're a fan of personal space, maybe not the greatest place for you, but if you don't mind being seated within arms length of your neighbors you'll have a pretty fantstic dining experience. This food was phenomenal!!! If I lived closer I would come here all the time. We had the Buffalo chicken meatballs as an appetizer, the braised rib grilled cheese, and banana marscapone French toast. The meatballs were mildly spicy and very flavorful, they were also huge, I felt like that app could've been purchased as a meal. What a sweet little coffee shop tucked into this hidden gem of a town. The staff there are super friendly and despite probably not wanting to, they seem more than willing to keep their doors open after closing for a family to finish up their meal and finish making memories. I was hesitant to write this review because I didn't want to be too negative about a small family owned restaurant. But I feel there are some things everyone should know before going there. My husband and I went on a Sunday evening with two other couples. We arrived first and when we opened the door to enter stale air oozed out. The hostess greeted us pleasantly and gave us seating in a cozy area. The table was filled with a hodgepodge of glasses that ranged from mason jar jugs to cordial glasses. I guess the idea is to figure out what you need to utilize. Also, the bench chairs are filled with pillows. So you actually have to rearrange them to sit comfortably. Our server was young and shy but accommodating. She didn't provide any recommendations or suggestions but adequately took our orders. Our appetizers were pretty good. In fact, the chicken wings were delicious! We got a double order of empanadas which was four pieces. Everyone seemed to enjoy them. The three chicken meatball appetizer was small but flavorful. Now the entrees were a different story. We ordered one tuna, two salmon, one chicken Milanese, one hanger steak and a Cuban stew. As the server brought the salmon out, you could smell a fishy aroma coming from the dish. I wondered about the freshness. The grilled salmon was atop of a nice bed of mixed vegetables. My husband and another friend gave it an okay rating. The Ahi tuna was probably the best entree and it appeared perfectly cooked. My friend commented about the toughness of the hanger steak that was obviously over cooked. The Cuban stew looked yucky but I was told it was fair. Now my chicken Milanese was a disaster! It was an over fried chicken cutlet with a bed of arugula on top. I'm not sure if the chicken was a frozen refried chicken patty. but was definitely dry and chewy. $28 for a refried chicken patty topped with arugula sitting in the middle of a naked plate. Yikes! Each couple shared a dessert that was not memorable. We split the cost between three and that came to $140 per couple with tip included. Best parts of the outing were the appetizers and the fact that it is a BYOB. I personally won't be going back for another meal here. read more

Went out for Valentine's Day, for 2, it was $190 (so about 95$/pp), we're not drinkers, we got what was shown on their prefixed menu... and it was extremely underwhelming, almost want to call my credit card company and report that meal as fraud so I can get my money back. An app, salad and entree... all of which was just bleek, for $95/pp they should've added some kind of dessert at least and if you're charging that much at least have the table we were at leveled, could not cut anything without the table wobbling. I got the scallops, some kind of pear salad, and the steak. The scallops had some kind of starchy mush underneath it, no flavor at all and did not at all pair well with the scallop... the salad was over dressed, almost too tart, and the steak was the bleakest part, they didn't season it at all and all you had for flavoring was the sriracha mayo taste? (Tasted like sriracha mayo). Not worth the money imo, and won't be coming back, I'm sure you can find something way nicer for the price point read more

This place was such a gem! The interior decor and atmosphere makes you feel like you are on vacation in Europe. We tried tapas from both flights and also had the crispy brussels. My favorites were the crispy brussels, grilled octopus, and cazuela de queso. There were also a variety of homemade desserts to choose from, we went with the tiramisu which I highly recommend. This is also a BYOB restaurant and if you like sangria, then bring your own wine and order a pitcher of their sangria mix, sounds perfect for a hot summer day. What a hidden gem. Came for dinner, not sure what to expect. I was very impressed with the quality of the food. Beyond the freshness and presentation, it was delicious. When we entered, the host was missing, but he came back after a few minutes of waiting. Before I talk about the food, I need to mention that the decorations in this place were excellent. Lots of old pictures and just generally a cool, eclectic vibe. Our server did a good job throughout the meal, so no complaints on the service. I ordered the waffle-n-chicken sandwich while my wife got the veggie burger. The accompanying fries were very tasty, but the waffle-n-chicken sandwich left something to be desired, somehow. I was expecting the cheddar-jalapeno waffles to be more flavorful, and there wasn't enough honey sriracha sauce for my liking. My wife enjoyed her veggie burger so maybe I'm just picky :) Overall, I would come back here for the vibes, but I'd probably get something else to eat (and hopefully the bathrooms are fixed!). read more

This past weekend, I went with my parents and friends for dinner and had the beef empanadas, ahi tuna entree and coconut cream cake. All dinners are served with toasted bread with their fresh chimichurri sauce. While there, we got a preview of the pre fixe menu for Christmas Eve, which featured three courses for $45pp. Today, Christmas Eve, I returned with my parents and grandmothers. We each got the pre fixe menu and added on dessert of course. The beet burratini salad, beet carpaccio salad, and ahi tuna bites were amazing appetizers and generous portions for individual servings! That lady Tina gave us these weird little straws for our drinks. It turned my iced tea into a Bordentown Iced Tea and the fanciness was off the charts. We had a private dining experience and it was the single best dining experience we ever had ever.
