The last time my wife and I went to Marsilio's had to be more than 15 years ago when it was in Chambersburg shortly before it closed. I didn't realize it relocated to Ewing until a few days ago. We just had to go! The food is even better than I had remembered. We had the eggplant rollatini for an app. It was perfectly done. Thinly sliced eggplant and an incredible ricotta filling. For dinner, I had the veal saltimbocca. Again, perfect. The veal was cooked perfectly, so tender, and the sauce was amazing. My wife had the chicken sorrentino. Yes, perfectly cooked. The chicken was so tender. On our way out we saw the owner - Alan - working away in the private dining room. No wonder it's so good -- the same family restaurant it was in Trenton. Had dinner here for my moms birthday. Everyone enjoyed their meal, but the staff was really what made the experience. They were so kind and accommodating. My mom asked if we could sit inside because it was a little chilly and they rearranged things so that we could. When they heard us talking at the table about how it was my moms birthday they brought out ice cream and sang, without us even asking. Marsilio's Kitchen is plain awesome! My wife and I visited for dinner on our ninth wedding anniversary and we not disappointed. Nice atmosphere, wonderful service and excellent italian food. My wife had the Veal Saltimbocca and I had a lovely pasta with mushrooms and beef tips. The appetizer was a smoked mozzarella cheese with apple slices and was very delicious. A wonderful Red Velvet cake for my wife and Tiramisu for myself topped of a memorable meal. I will certainly be coming back for more!!! read more

Finally had a chance to get to Marsilio's last night. We tried to get in a few times last Summer when they opened but reservations were scarce and candidly, we forgot about it. When attempting to make a reservation at another place via Open Table, we noticed Marsilio's had a table at the exact time we wanted so we took it. We arrived and were promptly seated by the friendly hostess at a spacious table for two - it was nice to have the extra space. Decor was nicely updated and while reminiscent of the prior operator, they've tastefully made the space their own. Volume was just right too. Our server Robbie promptly uncorked our bottle and walked us through the specials. Started with the braised short rib appy special and steamed clams from the menu. The 5 short ribs were tender and juicy. Seasoned perfectly - reminded me of a well prepared osso bucco. The steamers were generous and tasty in the garlic broth. Extra bread was required to mop up both the steamer and short rib sauces. House salad was simple with provolone and a light vinaigrette. Just right. Mains were both from the special list. I had the tuna (without the Cajun spices). Merely kissed by the flame as requested presented over horseradish mashed, wild mushrooms and a nice sherry cream sauce. It was almost like two meals in one. The savoriness of the mushrooms played nicely against the mashed with the cream sauce. The generous tuna steak was lightly seasoned with salt and pepper and served at the perfect temp. My wife had the lobster/scallop special over linguine. Again, the seafood was cooked to perfection, particularly the scallops. The pasta was al dente with a very nice sauce tying the entire dish together. I might have left out the lobster head garnish but hey, at least it was artistic. Dessert was the home made tirimisu. Again, very nice. Not too sweet and not sopping wet on the bottom. The sweet cream and berries on the plate were a very nice addition. At the end of the day, we were very pleased with the experience. I see some of the older reviews in the margin and must admit that we heard there were some issues early on. The GM advised that the original chef was replaced and I can certainly vouch for the incumbent. The food, portions, value and service were all top notch. I feel a little awkward giving 5 stars in my first Yelp review but candidly, it's worth it. Very much looking forward to our next visit. I think that says it all. read more

We had a perfect dining experience. Five minutes from TCNJ where our daughter attends. Wine, apps, entrees (best gluten free options) and dessert. Really pretty inside. I've been to Marisilio's a dozen times, and also gotten takeout a dozen more. Here's what I think overall: Pros: Amazing specials, and the regular menu is good too. The Sunday dinner thing (pasta and various meat--meatballs, bracciole, sausage)is outrageously good. Don't miss the stuffed hot peppers for an appetizer in season, or the broccoli rabe on the side. Cons: The restaurant is frequently really cold. The tables for two are stuck out in the middle of the dining room, and very close together--not a great arrangement for when I'm looking for a quiet date with my spouse. The people at the next table are well within your personal space, and the table itself is too small for much food--if you want to keep picking at the app during dinner, you're out of luck. Just weird: The service is completely inconsistent. There was an older woman working there who was one of the best servers I ever had, we saw her several times. The last time we were there was a Sunday--early evening, not at all busy-- and we were marooned in the middle of the dining room for hours before ordering, then again before getting served, then again before being able to wrestle the check out of them. We haven't been back since. I would give them another try but my husband won't. Also, takeout (even if you order from the regular menu not the carry out) is much smaller portions but at the same price as eating in. read more

We tried Marsillios's Kitchen on a Wednesday night , not too busy. Calamari was delicious to start . The house salad was mixed greens , light olive oil and grated Parmesan over top, very light and fresh . I got the veal Parmesan, my wife saltimbuca , the entrees took some time to prepare but that's ok we enjoyed the relaxed well decorated and comfortable dining area . The food came out piping hot and obviously just made from scratch , in a word , delicious . Cappuccino after dinner was perfect. We will be back ! read more

This place gets a three stars from the previous times I have went. The first and second time that food was wonderful, however the service could be better. However the 3rd times was a complete disaster!!! The first two visits I order the chicken parm and Caesar salad... everything was great!!! On of the best chicken parms I have ever tasted!.. The servers were inexperienced on customer service and the menu, but the food made up for the service. The third visit was a complete disaster! I ordered the Caesar salad and there was no Caesar dressing, but a light vinaigrette. The vinaigrette had olives in the mixture, so the dressing was leaving brown and black etchings in the salad. I understand that mistakes happen, so I requested a new salad. The waiter was rude and tried to explain to me that the croutons were causing the marks on the lettuce. I was like okay, I heard enough! Just bring me a new salad. The new salad came back with no croutons and the lettuce l appeared the same. Well to my surprise, the cook used the same lettuce and threw tons of Cesar dressing on the salad. The Caesar dressing tasted old and it could have been because of the mixing of dressings. Well, I went here with my family based off a recommendation from a family friend of it being good. I was not impressed with the menu, but went anyway. Mistake. In short, I could have made a more enjoyable meal at home! The tables were a nice size, but it was summer and FREEZING inside - I was so cold, all I could think about was leaving. you don't even want to eat anthing cold because its so cold in there. The bread lacked flavor. My parents got grilled artichoke, and again, it lacked flavor and was tasteless. I reluctantly got the ggplant rollatini appetizer - wow what an over charge! I think it was $9 and I only got ONE rollatine - and there was no basil - just dredged in sauce and ricotta cheese. Not presented well either. My parents shared the parm everything platter - chicken, eggplant and meatball - the chicken was not crispy and again lacked all falvor. My borther got vodka rigatoni - again no real flavor - cold though is not bad. I got a side of broccoli rabe and it was so oily and salty (eventho I said easy on the oil) that I really couldn't eat it. By the time we left, they were packed, and the couple that left right behind us also complained about the temperature. So basically, I was starving the whole time, and stil quite hungry when I left. Had a wonderful,last minute dinner here. Excellent, attentive and friendly service from the moment we were greeted at the door. Our server Jackie was knowledgeable about all menu items and defined "service with a smile"! Two ordered the veal parm, another a beef pasta dish and another veal dish (marzoni?) All were very generous portions and very tasty. The house salad which comes with entree was crisp and well dressed with a great hard cheese. Grated on top. Highly recommend and suggest reservations. The new liquor license is also a nice touch so I was able to enjoy a nice glass of wine with my boyfriend for his birthday. I was given a gift certificate for my birthday and after reading the reviews, I was excited to try it for date night with my husband. We eat in fine dining and casual restaurants often. NYC etc. just retuned from Paris. We were seated promptly. That's where it ended. Waiter was slow to take our drink order and it took forever to get it. Bread was literally dropped on the table with our appetizer. Salad was average. I had he papardelle with braised beef. Bland. My husband had the Sunday gravy. Bland. I went to Marsillio's for dinner with two friends to celebrate the holidays. I used to go to lunch occasionally at their location in Chambersburg. I was very pleased with the new location. I had the crispy salmon which came in a lemon sauce that was excellent, with a perfect balance of lemon. The vegetables that came with the sauce were cooked to perfection as well. One of my friends wanted chicken parmesan, but it wasn't on the menu. She asked if they would make it, and of course they said yes. She loved it. The service was excellent as well, very personable. Went out for an early Valentine's Day dinner and was not disappointed. My wife and I celebrated our engagement at the original location almost 20 years ago so this was a big trip down memory lane for us. We had reservations; however, our table was not ready. The staff was apologetic and we were seated after a short wait. The service was excellent. Our server was very attentive and did an excellent job answering our menu questions. Had an awesome shrimp appetizer off their specials list that evening. A bit pricey - $13.00 for 3 shrimp, but the vodka blush sauce they were in was amazing! Decent bread served while we were waiting. Refilled without asking as well. Salads are a bit small, but the dressing and shaved cheese on them were very tasty. Wife had the chicken sorrentino and I had the steak fiorentina - both were very good. Came with a bowl of pencil points - the gravy was yummy. The steak was served with fresh chips - a bit odd and very salty. For dessert we had the ricotta cheese cake and the chocolate lava cake. All-in-all an excellent night out. Italian food which is always good and portions which are always more then one can eat. I have enjoyed the atmosphere and the pricing is always reasonable as it is a BYOB. As of August 1st they will serve alcohol but will also continue to be a BYOB. Lunch has never been too crowded where you have had to wait. I suggest this highly. read more

Visited Marsilio's for the first time since they moved from the Burg. There were seven of us and we were celebrating my mother's birthday. We started out with some appetizers. The mussels and shrimp francaise were fantastic. The calamari was tender and not heavily fried. My wife had one of the specials which was a veal chop with a Marsala wine sauce and wasabi mashed potatoes. The veal was out of this world. I had the veal parmigiana and was a little disappointed. Don't get me wrong it was good, but I have had better. A little too overdone and the sauce was a little tart. The ambiance of Marsilio's Kitchen is fantastic and although the staff is very nice, the service was extremely slow. There were basically two servers working the entire room. Our party of seven arrived at 6:30 and didn't leave until 9:15! I would definitely try Marsilio's Kitchen again. I just might have to carve out a little more time in my schedule! read more

We thought the reviews noted on various platforms would lead us to having a great evening - I could not have been more wrong. It was one of the worst restaurant experiences we have had in a long time. My parents and brother from out of town were visiting and I had to apologize to them after the meal. In short: - It took more than 20 minutes to get a basket of bread on the table after being seated - We had to flag down the waiter to order drinks, and to come over to place the meal order - The waiter was kind and joked with the kids, but was not attentive - After ordering we had 6 out of 7 meals put on the table and it took TWENTY ADDITIONAL MINUTES for my brother to get his food. By the time he was served, the majority of the table was done with their meal - Poor brother - they forgot his soup when appetizers and salads were served and we were not able to hunt down the server to tell him, while we were in food purgatory, waiting for our main course - When we mentioned to the woman cleaning up the dishes (server was gone with the wind), she offered to package the soup to go but there was no offer to discount the meal. Additionally, I was given a look like, "What the heck - you already ate so why do you want soup" - The "special" fish was absolutely horrible. It was obviously frozen and had a very distinct bleach flavor. Both my wife and I ordered it, and we gave each other a "OMG this is bad" look when taking the first bite. We had waited so long for the meal that we simply ate around the main course. To make a comment would have kept us at the place until the next morning's breakfast we were served so slowly! I don't normally convey negative sentiment and try to focus on the good, but this was atrocious. Only because my mom and dad and brother traveled a long distance to spend Mother's day weekend with us did I not raise the issue with the manager/owner. Sorry to say that this was a very bad experience. It's a shame too because the place is less than a half-hour from home. read more

This restaurant used to be one of my favorites for many years in fact. After my last experience here ,however, it will be my last time going. A friend and I got their takeout service for 2. We ordered the tilapia francaise and veal saltimbocca with a side of spinach. While the meals looked visually appealing, the nightmares began from there. When placing the order I specifically asked for the veal from off of their gluten free menu. I also specifically asked for no bread with the meals, myself being gluten sensitive and my guest being diabetic. Did they listen? No. I specifically asked what came with the meal as neither of us wanted pasta and I was only told salad. Which was fine but what's inside the bag. You guessed it. Pasta. Did they listen? Again no. So I called them up to make sure that my meal even was gluten free. After waiting on hold for 10 minutes, I was told that it was. So I assumed one of the pastas was gluten free and asked as the gluten free pasta was not marked whatsoever. Having no idea the difference between both types of pasta both ended up getting tossed. Regretfully I didn't just toss the rest of the food. My veal was chewy and the sauce seemed unusually thick for something gluten free. My guest thought the tilapia was quite fishy as tilapia generally almost never has a fishy flavor, at least in either of our experiences. The spinach, well, would you like some spinach with your garlic would be the more appropriate response. Then less then 20 minutes after eating I got overwhelming tired, started having digestive issues and began to feel the major fog in my head Which are the symptoms I get from heavy exposure to gluten. I have eaten at many other restaurant's gluten free menus in the past year , as I am gluten sensitive and do not have celiac disease. I never have felt nearly as sick, not even close. It Makes me wonder if they even served me something gluten-free or just took 10 minutes to decide what they should say to me. Anyway I would steer clear, marsilio's kitchen clearly has seen better days. Good plating, good decor and atmosphere will only get you so far.
