We came here for a work dinner one evening, and they have pretty good Italian food here. Full course dinner with different options, as well as daily specials and tasty dessert. I ordered veal chop, which was really nice, and everything tasted great. Good service overall, and very charming setting inside. Nice that we had that section of the dining room to ourselves too. Top notch dining experience all around! My wife and I visited for a date date night based on recommendations and we are so glad we did. The vibe is old school and cozy and was beautifully decorated for the season. We started at the bar with vodka martinis that were made perfectly by the friendly bartenders and generously filled as well. We asked if we could move to a table for dinner and they accommodated us immediately telling us to take our time at the bar and showed us the table they reserved for us when we were ready to sit. Once we sat down our server, Tony, came over immediately and introduced himself. He told us about the restaurant and also about the nightly specials. We decided on the clams casino appetizer. While we were waiting he brought us fresh baked Italian bread and homemade butter. It was delicious and when we were down to the last piece a new loaf was put down without even asking. The clams and lemon wine butter sauce were delicious. Salads came soon after in a light vinegarette with fresh sliced cheese. The entrees we ordered were the Roebling Veal Chop milanese style and the seafood pasta. Both were delicious and the chop was giant! For desert we shared "A little of everything" which consisted of a tartufo, a tiramiso, and a canoli. They gave us 2 complementary limoncellos to have with desert. The owner stopped by to see how everything was and kicked up a conversation about the restaurant and how it owned it for 39 years. It started in Chambersburg, a once vibrant little Italy in Trenton that no longer exists. Throughout the night we were treated like VIPs and truly like family. When I'm in Ewing for business, I always feel like meal options are lacking. That's until I found Marsilio's. This place has great Italian food. Service is okay- wish they'd come by a bit more often. I do recommend making reservations (OpenTable) - they're not open Mondays and Tuesdays and on a Wednesday, it got packed. Looked like they had a lot of regulars. I love that they give a table pasta to share. I've been twice and I enjoyed the Sauvignon blanc and my arugula salad with salmon. Salmon was cooked perfectly and the citrusy dressing was refreshing and delightful. Will come back if I'm in town for work again. Everyone at the table was very happy with their meals- most completely emptied their plates. The chicken parm was apparently fantastically lightly breaded- so I'll try that next. read more

Perhaps the best take out order I have experienced during Covid! Back in the day, I was a semi-regular at Marsillio's Kitchen in Chambersburg, the original Italian neighborhood in Trenton, NJ. This was my first visit to their new digs on Upper Ferry Road in Ewing. Gotta say, I was impressed. Ordering ahead by phone, I arrived a few minutes before the food was ready to go. That gave me time to look around and snap a number of photos of the house. The double doors to the main dining room were glass panel, which acted as a filter and smoothed the edges and gave a romantic antique patina. I look forward to enjoying dinner there safely. The food was packed well and survive the 10 minute drive home in good shape. Marsillio's has a robust red sauce menu, and a clever notion of offering, "I Can't Decide," possibilities. I went with both its Everything Parm (chicken, meatball, eggplant), and Everything Francaise (veal, chicken, shrimp, artichoke), along with Pasta Primavera and Seasonal Roasted Vegetables. With side green salad, penne red gravy and small amount of good sesame covered loaf, this was plenty for the four of us, with leftovers. I sampled a bit of it all, and found each item distinctly delicious. The Francaise was nicely sautéed in lemon and white wine, and the Parmigiana also pan fried with a light touch allowing the caramelized crannies to shine. The pasta was bathed in a semi-sweet red gravy (side dish) and plenty of veggies for the primavera tasted of a mild garlic infusion. Loved it all. While true that prices have gone up in this era of pandemic and inflation, the cost seemed reasonable, if not exactly inexpensive. Still, worth it when excellent in house dining can still be a challenge. I would definitely do this again. read more

We were in the area for a sports event, and had trouble finding places to eat. We finally settled on Marsilio's Kitchen. We arrived about 7:15 for a 7:30 reservation and were greeted by a friendly host who seated us promptly in their tented patio area. It was fairly busy, but not overly crowded. We waited several minutes to be greeted by our server, who was a super nice man, but seemed to have more tables than he could handle efficiently. We waited for water...which finally came about 10 minutes after being seated....then finally drinks, appetizer and entree orders taken. Calamari was delicious, but no tentacles...just rings . At one point, one of the bus staff dropped a plate on the walkway a few feet from us. It took a good 10-15 minutes of staff (stepping over/around) the plate for someone to eventually clean it up. Several people just walked past it, a few more stepped over it, but no one made an effort to pick it up for a notable amount of time...Anyway, about 8:30 (yes, over an hour after our arrival) our entrees arrived with apologies for the delay, and an "I'm not sure what's going on, they're usually on top of things in the kitchen". Again the server was very nice, and apologetic and seemed equally frustrated by whatever was going on that evening. I had their "signature" dish - chicken cacciatore....it was...okay. Held a chicken in a wine sauce. The breast was dry, but the rest of it was good, and the sauce was fine, just not the typical red/brown sauce I'm familiar with. Another in our group had the "vodka rigatoni", which, those who tasted it (not me) said was very good. By the time we were done eating and the plates cleared, we decided to get dessert, to go. Cannoli, Tiramisu all were delicious. The server wished us safe travels, which was nice. So, maybe just an off night for them...they've been there for a while, so they must be doing something right, but maybe just not the night we were there. read more

We were offered bread 3 times and refused it. i ordered Chicken Cacciatore noted it's a favorite recipe that's been on the menu for years. What I got was broiled chicken with a wedge of lemon. I went for a Saturday dinner with my wife and friends .Saturday night dinner out is something I usually avoid. The places tend to be too crowded , too noisy and the food is off. Well this place was crowded but apparently they can handle crowds .We had calamari and asparagus rolletini for appetizers. I had veal bergamo(?)- tender and flavorful. Service was remarkably good considering the crowd and the place is attractive. The only thing I wasn't impressed by is the chicken cacciatore which I thought was dry. Everything and more. A wonderful night out with good family-like friends. We were greeted upon arrival and taken right to our table, however, we quickly confided with the host that we'd be loud so they moved us back to the main dining room which contains the bar... Much better for the quieter elder diners. How excited we were when Fabian approached our table to inform us he'd be taking care of us this evening and boy did he take excellent care of us. The dining out experience consists of 50% food and 50% server experience and both were 100% this night. We started with some drinks around the table plus pouring wine that we brought. Very kind that the owners still allow BYOB, with a $8 corkage fee, or you can select from their list. It was two couples with an appetite for great food. We started with shared 3 apps: heirloom tomatoes, shrimp francaise, and eggplant rollatini. Each was excellent. For our mains, lamb chops medium raw (they were huge and cooked to perfection per the chef amongst us), veal parm (3 cutlets, 2 of which came home), veal melanzane, disappeared first, that good and I ordered the salmon special- filet of salmon cooked to perfection, one of the best salmons if not the best I've ever had alongside broccoli rabe, my favorite vegetable. What meal with friends, good laughter, and great food is complete without trying sharing some deserts- chocolate lava cake and Nutella cheesecake; both disappeared along with our cappuccinos (3-decafe). Came to Marsilio's Kitchen (on 9/27) to catch up with a friend. We both are from PA and are always looking for nice quaint restaurants with quality food. I made reservations online which is mandatory now with COVID. We arrived early and was seated right away at and outdoor table. Each table had umbrellas which was great. Our server Chrstophe was gracious, friendly and a joy to speak with. He had great suggestions and was very verse with the menu. We started off with their specialty Margarita's - one Jalapeno Pineapple Margarita and a regular Margarita. They came in cute bottles which was enough to get a second glass - at least half full. We ordered calamari as an app. Our entrees were chops in marsala sauce and salmon. Everything was excellent. The chop was a little tough that I had to request a steak knife. Great food, I stumbled upon this place plenty of times for fundraisers now I find myself visiting for dinner a few times a month

This very good lunch trip almost did not happen. My first choice was another Italian spot about a mile away, for some reason that was closed for the day. I pulled up my trusty Yelp app and it reminded me that there was another better known spot very close. Sounded promising so my uncle and I headed over. The smallish dining room was about half full and we were seated in the worst possible spot( next to a table of very loud " gentlemen" ) We didn't know how loud they would eventually get, I really wish the very friendly hostess had foreseen the issue too. But anyway, we liked the ambiance of the place and did our best to have our own convo. The small lunch menu had enough options to satisfy most diners, and dinner entrees were also available. My uncle had the meatball and penne pasta. Some older folks are not as food sharing friendly as I am, sadly I didn't get offered a taste but he liked( not as much as one of our other favorite places though) it came with a BOWL of soup of the day, a very veggie dense minestrone. He enjoyed and had a hard time finishing. I went with the house salad for my chicken parm choice. Excellent and fresh spring mix with shaved PR and mild oil and balsamic. My entree came with al dente string beans( might have preferred pasta but I liked this healthier choice) the chicken itself was very tender and juicy, the red sauce was very flavorful too. This stands up to some of my favorite places for this dish. Also noteworthy is the soft semolina bread that they lightly toast and add oil and grated cheers. I was using and enjoying that in lieu of pasta. It is worth mentioning that this is a transplant from Chambersburgs heyday, and those of a slightly older generation are likely to remember that spot fondly. This location brought over the many many pitchers that are labeled with the names of some of their most loyal customers. Apparently the tradition was to bring over these to their owners when they visited, they could be used as a wine or water carafe or just as a decoration. Cool tradition and I'm glad it seems to have carried on. They do have a small bar, but also allow you to BYOB with certain stipulations( see website for details) I will try to return with Trish for a more romantic meal and a chance to sample a few other things. I really hope this location thrives, and I bet there are many others who feel the same way. My only slight criticism was the somewhat cold demeanor of our server. I'll chalk that up to me not looking like the other business person looking eaters. My two general question to him were met with brusque and not very informative answers. It's great to cater to your regulars( and possibly overlook when they are annoying other patrons) but if you want to woo new ones, please lose the attitude. read more

Soooooo Joe is the nicest waiter we have ever had. Very attentive & did his best to set up the big let down menu. Their bartenders looked like they just stepped out of bed & came to work. I ordered the meatball parm appetizer, it had no flavor & was VERY MUSHY. Which leads me to the rest of the dinner, I had the chicken Milanese. Thumbs down. I'm completely sure that they don't season anything except the tomato sauce on my side pasta. Everything was completely bland & lifeless. Just got back from dinner with my husband, daughter and her boyfriend! WOW! We were so impressed. The food was fantastic! Two of us had the vodka rigatoni, one with chicken and one with shrimp. The sauce was to die for! I thought my daughter might lick the plate. The braised beef papardelle was scrumptious. And the chicken scarpiello was delicious as well! We all had lots of leftovers to take home! The salads were fresh and tasty--especially the Caesar. The bread was fresh and crusty. Cannolis and chocolate cake rounded off a wonderful meal! We arrived right at 5 when they opened and were glad we did. The place was packed by the time we left. The atmosphere was very nice with dimmed lighting. Service was ok.
