Located in an old house at the end of the runway of Trenton airport sits this gem of a dive bar! Great vibe, great people, great service, good beer, and tasty food! What more could you ask for. The signature wings were great. Fried to perfection with a sweet hot sauce! The corn bites were great as well, although a dipping sauce from like street corn may take it to another level! It pains me to write this. Thankfully it is only ome experience and hopefully a rare outlier. But the details are very difficult to explain. I suggested Al's to dine with a (sophisticated) friend who'd never been there. Although my wife cautioned me, I felt confident that my friend would appreciate the 'hidden gem' of Al's, as I have. Burgers and beer. What could go wrong? Our draft Guinnesses were delicious. When our burgers arrived we immediately noticed they were COLD. When I say this, I don't mean 'no longer hot'. I mean ROOM TEMPERATURE. Burgers, even the onion rings. I immediately alerted our (first) server who (politely) silenced me because she was in the process of serving a nearby table. She came over, heard our complaint, apologized and took our plates away. Our meals were returned very quickly. The burgers and rings were now warm. Edible for sure. The buns, however, were COLD. Colder than they were before. Actually just shy of frozen. That evening (a Sunday at 6pm) we were served by three different people. The woman who took got us menus and beckoned over a young man for drink orders, took our food orders and delivered the cold and reheated meals, the young man for our drafts, and another woman who came around to check on us, replace a broken knife, tale away plates and accept payment. The combintion of facts is difficult to explain. A stab might be that when our meals were done they just sat there, suggesting a server failed to notice or deliver them or perhaps a cook failed to ring a bell or something indicating they were done. Then I guess it was decided that these patrons should not have to wait for entirely new meals so a microwave solution was opted for. Then someone realized that a microwaved bun would be a dead giveaway so mew buns were used, perhaps right out of the freezer or a very cold section of the refrigerator. Maybe our timing was poor, eg coinciding with server shift transitions and our treatment just kind of slipped through the cracks. Sorry Al's. I have not experienced anything like this at Al's before. And certainly not at Wildflower, Tommy's or Brickhouse. read more

Excellent local bar with good food, live music most nights and weekend afternoons. One of those places with a local vibe, but friendly and inclusive to anyone who walks in. They have Teachers and LGTBQ nights, and Phillies sports on the TV. I play here regularly so may be biased, but the staff and chef are super friendly, food is steps above standard bar food with some creative additions. Good local beer selection and cocktail specials. Nice small local joint worth checking out! Came here around opening with a friend and was able to snag one of the last remaining tables. As others have said you seat yourself here and menus are already in the stand at the table. Place is packed pretty tight and it was incredibly loud for the early crowd! I know that's out of the place's control but it was one of the loudest "bars" I've ever been to. Food was amazing and prices are very reasonable. Quesadilla was like none other and I was very happy with my Cuban sandwich! Overall I'd pop by for another quick meal but would choose another place if I wanted to sit down and catch up with guests so I could hear them! read more

Ssshhhh! Don't tell anyone how AWESOME Al's is for drinks, food and atmosphere. Love this place. We go here with friends and we go here with family. It's a small bar with some tables for eating. The bartenders also serve the tables. They are attentive and friendly but the bar does get busy. Food is good... you must try the corn nuggets, and the drinks are very reasonable. For the most part it's burgers, sandwiches and wraps. But they also have great specials. And their weekend brunch is fantastic. It is located right next to Mercer County Airport, this the name! I came in with a group, and the place was pretty crowded. We didn't have a reservation, but the staff made accommodations for us. The place has a great vibe and the staff was super friendly and attentive. Our server, Melissa, was very informative and and made great suggestions. A hidden gem. Live music at all sorts of times of the day. Brunch available most of the day. Board games. While one might be initially nervous about the dark / classic looking interior, don't be. The restaurant / bar is spotless. Rest of the menu is classic pub fare. I had the special, pulled pork sandwich - excellent slaw, pickle, brioche roll (toasted well). My favorite part about this place is the selection of cocktails. Everything we've ever had here is well mixed, served in crystal clean glassware. Great staff, great food, and a great vibe. There is usually live music, either during brunch or during the evening hours. The music is professional and generally excellent. It can sometimes be hard to find a seat in the dining room or at the bar, but if you are comfortable standing at the bar for a few minutes, you'll most likely strike up a conversation with strangers making the 10-20 minute wait all that more enjoyable. The staff and service is personable and professional and they will eventually remember your name and drink of choice. The food menu has range and is always freshly made. I judge bar food based on their wings. Al's wings do not disappoint. Naked and Fried crisp, with 5-6 sauce options. Al's special sauce reminds me of the old Italian Kitchen in Oneonta, NY (where I went to college). They are addicting. Burgers are legit and the cheesesteaks are on point. Only for takeout but as for the staff, all friendly, the location, clean and nice inside. The food was all yummy. During a recent trip to Ewing, NJ last week, we had dinner at Al's Airport Inn the first night (we had arrived late and needed a place where we could eat late). We sat at one of the available tables - there is no host/hostess but there is a visible sign instructing patrons to sit wherever they want (this was in no way an inconvenience for us). We ordered Al's Steak Melt and Fish & Chips. They were both very tasty. The Limoncello Mascarpone Cake was delicious and one portion was more than enough for two people. Our server, Maria, was very attentive, friendly and a pleasure to talk to. There was live music, which was very plesant. We liked that it was not too loud, making it more enjoyable and allowing us to have a converstion while we ate. The bar was crowded and it had a nice, casual ambiance. We liked the food so much that we went back for take out a couple of days later. During this second visit, we again ordered Al's Steak Melt and decided to try the Shrimp Mac and Cheese. The latter was a little disappointing in that it was not particularly creamy and the shrimp were minuscule and scarce but the taste was OK. If I ever go back to this area of New Jersey, I would like to go back and eat dinner at this place. read more
