Came in for cologne and the layout seems very cluttered. Employees were not very friendly and no one acknowledged me while I was looking for the cologne section (was hard to find). I came here with the wife to browse around before her dental appointment next door. The wife found a black adidas jacket and she told me to get in cashier's line and pay first while she attended her dental appointment next door. So first of all this was 10:30AM on Saturday morning. There were a total of 10-15 customers in the entire store. However there seemed to be a very congested line at the cashiers. I was 3rd in line and what usually takes 2-3 minutes to pay ended being about 10 minutes. The lady cashier seemed like she broke a nail as she was constantly checking her own hands after scanning every item. Perhaps that was the delay for such slow register service. When it was my turn to pay, the lady couldn't find Marshall's barcode tag and she told me the tag is missing. The original manufacturer's tag was still on the item for $55. Then she just stood there without a word. I replied by asking what she expects me to do about the missing price tag? She gave me the passive-aggressiveness cold shoulders before finally asking a younger man to find a similar item. Meanwhile still examining her own nails periodically. After 5-10 minutes of holding up the cash register, the young man finally came back. By this point, the customers in line all became fidgety and one of them demanded to the manager to open another cash register. So finally the manager complied to it. The young man brought back another Adidas jacket of another type. My cashier lady now showed me the price of this different jacket, and asked me if this is ok. The manufacturer's suggested price was $100, and Marshall's has discounted it to $40. I simply told her that it was not OK since the jacket the young man brought back costed twice as much as the one my wife was interested in. She then proceeded by saying they are both the same and made by Adidas. I then explained to her, in detail, patiently, that since $100 manufacturer's prices was discounted down to $40 by Marshall's, my wife's jacket should be around $25, compared to the suggested manufacturer's retail of $55. She then got frustrated and told the young man to go back and find another jacket. Another 5-10 minutes passed and finally he came back with a different jacket. And meanwhile this lady was still examining how her nail got broken. At least by this time, the jacket was the same price. I accepted the final sale of $30. She did apologize to me about taking so long. I don't think this lady and the entire staff were meant to be rude. It's just their mannerism and approach can portray themselves as nonchalant and distant from this whole subject matter. This store needs to provide better training for its staff about efficiency and customer service. The point is to make the customer satisfied and not to get rid of the customer as soon as possible. The mannerism from the staff can also use some fine tuning. I totally understand that when foreigners visit our great country of USA, many of them find our social mannerism "fake" and "superficial". However, the other end of the spectrum lies "apathy", which also can steer customers away. I have enjoyed Marshall's and TJ Maxx for decades and I hope to enjoy many future trips to these stores. Don't let one bad apple spoil the whole bunch. read more

Everything was ok until when I had to pay for the items i purchased. Cashier lady, Veronica, doesn't know anything about customer service. Of course i'm not expecting a 4 star service, but at least an acknowledgement that there's a customer. When I got to the cashier, she was writing something on a receipt. It took about 20-30 seconds for her to just start scanning the items. She would just hand me the bag containing the items after i paid and didn't even make eye contact, nor said a thank you. I have purchased at this Marshall's for years as it is close to my work. I often pop in at lunch and look around. I did some Christmas shopping and realize three gifts I ouchased were defective. One was a cat toy tower. It has 3 towers and each one should have a ball. Took it out and set it in the floor for my cat when I realized it was missing two balls. Took that and the other 2 gifts back for credit along with my receipts less than a week after purchased. The cashier took the cat toy out of the box and said she would not issue a return because it had. When used as it had some cat hair j. The bottom. I proceeded to tell her the reason I couldn't keep it is that it was defective. The manager was called S I insisted it should. It have been on the shelf full price if it was defective and therefore I would like a credit. I wasn't even asking for cash back. I would have gladly exchanged it but they didn't have any more of the same tiys. They refused to issue a refund because it had. Even taken out of the box. The manager said he could not verify I purchased the $10 cat toy missing balls and therefore he would but give me credit. I felt like he was calling me a liar. Why would they sell me a defective toy full price and then refuse to credit me even though I had a refund??? I am extremely unhappy with the way I was treated as a customer specially because I spend time driving back and in line for their mistake and TJ tol it off, Mac the manager flrefused to credit me honestly basically calling me a liar with out saying so. Max should not have denied a customer with a receipt a $10 credit for an item that should have never been in the shelf. I am extremely disappointed at how Mad and his cashier handled the situation and I had never been treated so rudely there before. Needles to say I will not be spending my money at a store that refused to accept their mistake and credit $10. Great deals, but 2 cashier's for over 4,0 people in line is horrible. It took them overt 10 minutes to call for backup registers to open. My arms were sore from carrying my items by the time I got to the front. I had plenty of time to count the bodies in line and check my clock. Luckily I happened to have time on my hands today. While all these customers are waiting they are pushing time delaying credit card applications and requests for donations. Although I commended them for their commitment to their sales programs, it's not the best time to add delays when people are waiting 10+ minutes in line to get checked out. Had I not needed the shoes and had done spare time, I would have left. read more

All Stores are not created equally. Some are cleaner and near than others. Second time coming I here. Some clothing appear to have name brand labels, the look of them has to be the reject ones but not bad. They have so much from Toys, Pots and Pans , Picture Frames, Mirrors , Clothing , Shoes and much more . These guys really try to be good. read more

When the line is 25 people long and the manager on duty refuses to open up a 3rd register to keep customers from waiting 30 minutes to pay for something it's very sad. Normally they manage this store well but to make customers wait that long is rediculous. When I spoke to the manager about opening up another register she said she didn't have more people and I suggested that she could do it as she was just standing near the door area all she said was she couldn't because she was the manager.... Lol. If your customers are unhappy as the manager I think it's your job to fix the problem. As a district manager thats how I was trained at least. Too bad this managers solution was just to push it off to someone else and wave me out the door. =( read more

I'm a shopaholic, I love great deals for name brand items. I love home decor, shoes and clothes and this is a one stop shop!! They have a big shoe area and it is pretty organized. All their shoes are in boxes and I'm never going crazy looking for a missing pair. A ton of variety of clothes, from name brand clothing to little no namer brands. Workout, casual, office, dressy you name it. Just have the patience to look around and you will either find something or you can head over to the home goods area and grab some towels, bedding, picture frames, decor and so much more. Makes for great thoughtful gifts. My favorite gift items are coffee mugs. Because who doesn't love a cute mug? I can spend hours in here. It does get a bit frustrating sometimes when they change things around in the store and when they are between seasons. For example right now they have a ton of sweaters out and it is still so freaking hot! read more

Arrived at the entrance at 6:49pm to do a quick run for a return I had. Yelp hours indicated 10pm store closure, but the staff member at the front said they closed at 7pm and were not allowing customers in. Ok, 7pm closure due to early closing hours during this time is understandable, but you're not letting people in at 6:49pm and I literally was going to go straight to the register for my returns. I hate being that last person to come into restaurants and places at the last minute but I truly just had a return and intending to go straight in and out, which I probably would've been able to do my return and finish before 7pm! They had two women up front not letting people in and she was so annoyingly unfriendly about it too. I even said "oh yelp said 10pm but if it's 7pm closing, that's fine. I was just going to return this real quick and be out". And she just rudely ignored me and shook her hands at me to not come in and said "we open tomorrow at 10am". Like excuse me... so many people tried to come in afterwards too, at least be friendly about it. Annoying! read more

Morale and sense of urgency is low from all employees. No front end coordinator guiding the front. District manager really needs to get in here & watch the frontline to help guide this store. Went in for a quick visit to the cosmetics department and was HORRIFIED at how messy this area was. I couldn't believe my eyes- these are $30+ palettes that are all smashed, flung onto a cheap and small shelf with powder literally everywhere. Anything you touch will have dirty makeup all over it. So grossed out. Y'all need some better organization and a better eye on customers handling products. OH and I came in the early afternoon so it's not like this was towards the end of a busy day. read more

Rene the store manager is the rudest person and has no customer service skills. She walked away from me while trying to explain why I'm returning an item with a valid recite. All she kept saying was I declined it! However if an item is defective and I have a valid recite than I should be able to return or exchange the item which I did have the recite box for. She than tells me to get out of the store and calls the cops on me. I there fore call her a notch and tell her that I will be reporting her to a supervisor above her. I did not do anything g wrong or illegal I was just trying to return an item to the store. If anyone else has had issues with this lady please make sure to report her. read more

I went to this location to make a return. It says they close at 7pm, and I got there at 6:53pm. The employee at the door said that the store was closed. I said it's not even 7pm yet, and I only need to make a return. She asked her manager if he can make an exception and he said no. Horrible customer service! My best friend drove down from the LA area today and we spent the entire afternoon at Marshall's. I found a really beautiful bedspread with earthy colors and it was only $49.99. Some Marshall's do not have a good stock of items and this one definitely doesn't have it in the furniture department. But there were definitely some nice decoration items and even 600 thread count bedsheets. read more

One of the more tidy Marshalls I have been to. Parking: plenty of parking in a private lot. The parking lot lanes all go in one direction. The lanes are quite long so turning around to go the other way is awkwardly long. Layout: the layout is all very unclear and does not flow with foot traffic at all. Marshalls has a bunch of different discounted items so it's already difficult to sift through as it is. Here, there are long racks and circular racks. The circular racks are placed in weird locations that doesn't add to the layout. Also there will be random clearance sections throughout, so you really got to keep your eyes peeled for them. Service: the cashiers are unbearably slow, so the line gets really long at times. It's obvious that they do not care to check people out faster. When it was my turn to check out, I noticed one of my items have been damaged. I politely ask the cashier, Benhaz E., for the possibility of a discount. She rudely dismissed me and said "manager says no." She did not even attempt to contact the manager, so I know she lied on the spot. So I asked for the manager, once again she obviously lied and said, "she's on lunch break so you have to wait an hour." She was very rude about it all. I think she could have been a little nicer about the encounter. I will definitely not be coming back. read more

This Marshalls is clean and you can pick up a few things for the home. This is the perfect spot to also pick up another package of socks or boxers. The store is usually less of a madhouse than other discount stores, or other Marshalls (Tustin). The selection is good if you're just looking to pick up men's T-shirts. Why pay $20 for a Billabong, Quicksilver, or Hurley T-shirt at Dick's sporting goods, when you can get them here for $9.99 or less. read more

Anyway, I had recently went on Amazon to look for a new skillet and an exercise ball since it was Black Friday. Before I went ahead for the purchase, I decided to swing by Marshalls to see if I could find something similar for around the same price. Ended up deleting my shopping cart on Amazon and I bought a 12" CuisinArt skillet and a 65cm exercise ball for less than I would have paid with the Black Friday deal on Amazon! I was really quite surprised, but I guess even Black Friday deals have to be taken with a grain of salt. I love browsing the home goods area to find random items to sometimes buy. Came here for a quick shopping trip and everything was just great until we had to pay. The line was starting to build up and you can clearly see the associates walking around. This one lady stated she forgot her password to login to the register. She just stood there. Not sure what the standard of operations is but she just stood there for minutes without asking for help or anything. Worst of all, there's only one open register. I tried to get her name but she apparently also lost her name tag, so she has a taped piece of paper on a, I am assuming, a blank name tag with her name scribbled on illegibly. I guess after a few minutes she got thirsty so she started to sip water from a bottle she took from the soda refrigerator, all while the line keeps building up. Good job sales associate... read more

Jolin the cashier had one job and she couldn't and wouldn't do it right. Don't know what's her deal but she needs serious help in mannerism. No greetings on top of throwing my receipt on the counter, stepped away in the middle of helping a customer without letting her customer know. Anyway what happened was she processed my refund with the incorrect amount due to different tax rate in LA and oc. She had the guts to told me it's not even that much of a difference. To be honest, if she wasn't a B**** to begin with I wouldn't even have bother. She then asked me what's the price difference, can you figure it out?! Are you serious Jolin. That's your job not mine. I shop here all the time. After today, not a fan. First, I was trying things on in the dressing room. The lady said I could not try belts on in there, so I left it with her. It was a huge brown belt. Unfortunately, it did not fit. I put it back. I was in the checkout line. She comes up from behind me, hi young lady, I see you decided to wear the belt out. I was so embarrassed being accused of trying to steal something! I said, no, this is my belt that I wore into the store. The other belt (which looked nothing like mine) I put back, it was too small. THEN, I get to the register. ALL the swimsuits were on clearance. I tried one on that wasn't marked, yet the same exact swimsuit was marked clearance in S and M. The one I wanted was L. The lady said, I'm sorry I can't change the price. I'd have to go to the back office and look up this item. Well, isn't that your job? I even showed her the same swimsuit in M marked clearance. There wasn't a single swimsuit NOT marked clearance. She made me pay full price because I'm not about to squeeze into a Medium. Worst service ever. The WORST Marshall's I've been to. Several times now I've watched them chase customers out of the store at 730pm when the store doesn't close until 8pm. When I walked in at 730 to exchange something, the greeter blocked the walkway with her arm and said the store is closed. I checked the Marshall's store hours info on my phone and true enough it said 8pm. When I told her that she shrugged her shoulders and reluctantly let me in. As I looked for the size I was exchanging for, they started flickering the store lights on and off at 7:34pm to make people leave. They accompanied it with a PA announcement that "the sales floor is now closed (???)" and followed it with "sales associates, walk the store and tell people to leave" WTH?!!! I have never had that happen at the Marshall's in Laguna Hills or South Coast Plaza. When I got to the register I asked the cashier for the manager's name and she refused to give it. She called another associate to ask if she could release the manager's name. I was then told it was Casey but they wouldn't give me a last name. Just too bad that this Marshall's is the closest to my house. When I was leaving the store at 7:45, the greeter was turning away people at the door who were trying to come in. I think stores there have an agreement with the Leasing company to maintain their posted business hours. I wonder if their corporate office knows this is a regular practice at this store, and that they're in a hurry to cut business profits short just to get out of work ASAP. Why work there if they hate being there? Especially with recruitments in full swing again everywhere else. read more

I've used yelp for years. For the first time, I wish negative stars were possible. Dishonest, rude, and unprofessional. I've been to many Marshalls, this one is the worst of the worst. To top it off, the manager (Tad B.) led the way in being deceitful and rude. This guy needs to be fired, period. He's paving the way for this store to get into a legal lawsuit. I bought a pair of gym shorts from this store. Upon first time of wearing it, I found a hole in the right pocket. It's slightly bigger than a quarter. I went back to this store. I wasn't asking for a refund, I just asked them to either fix it on-site (if possible), or give me a partial refund, enough to cover tailor's charge. Below is the timeline of events. 1. The clerk (this middle aged Asian lady) said (with attitude): "can't you fix this yourself?" "You don't know how to sew?" 2. She called her supervisor (an old guy with a perpetual scowl) called Tad B. Tad told me he can give me a $1 discount. Nothing more. There is a tailor right next door to this Marshall, who has told me they will charge me $5 to fix this problem, Tad is not willing to give me a $5 discount to cover this. He had me, a customer, walk there to confirm this cost, by the way. I told Tad that he has to take responsibility for this defective product. Tad shot back with "we don't sell defective product." Well, he must suffer blindness and lack of short-term memory simultaneously. 3. I expressed that I wanted to return the shorts. Tad told me I can't because the tags are off. (Of course they are off by the time I found the hole in the pocket. Who'd know this kind of problem unless you wear them out?) 4. I insisted, Tad finally let me exchange this. He walked away as I was still talking to him, twice. 5. After they gave me the refund, the cashier, under the approval of Tad, made a new tag, gave the shorts a 50-cent mark-down, and put it back on the rack. (That's only three minutes after Tad said "we don't sell defective products.") read more

I purchased a pair of pants and I decided to return them because I did not like the style. The tags were still on, they had never been worn, and there was nothing wrong with the pants. I politely told the cashier I would like to return them but I lost my receipt. I provided the cashier with my i.d. and my Marshall's credit card for the return. She went to speak with her coworkers and they all gave me an extremely dirty look. She came back and rudely told me they would not accept pants that had already been worn. Are you kidding me?!! I am a regular Marshall's shopper and I have never seen such rude cashiers in my life. The line is always 30 people deep never enough cashiers and when you get there the women that work there are the rudest people I have ever encountered. The only kind person that works there is the woman that greets you at the front door the rest of them all need to be fired or maybe the manager needs to be replaced because you get what you give and if you're not a good manager your employees don't care about what they're doing either. read more

Much like Brendan K. noted, I can't believe I'm writing about Marshalls! Yet I just returned and overall I'm pretty stoked on it. First I'll start off with the bad. The place reeks of farts. Why does this store smell so farty? At first I thought it was the dude next to me, but then I walked over to another area and the smell was still there and just as strong. Went into the fitting rooms and the smell was even stronger! What kind of clothing would possibly produce this smell? I spent almost an hour and a half in this Marshall's, and when I was done I could not wait to get home and wash my hands. It's the same feeling I get when I've been browsing through records at thrift stores for hours, except these are supposed to be NEW clothes! What's the deal? But here's the good: Quality clothing at dirt cheap prices. The first time I got excited about shopping at Marshall's is when they had hundreds of Fred Perry polos for $14.99 each. I love Fred Perry polos. On my trip today, I found some raw selvage Earnest Sewn jeans on the clearance rack for $10. The guy at the register wouldn't let them go for under $19, and that kind of irked me (and so did his heavy, mucus-filled breathing!), but I still thought the deal was good enough. I got home and looked them up online, and the normal retail on them is $240. Paying $19 for $240 jeans is cool. There were a bunch of other great deals as well, but most of the jeans are relaxed fit (no thanks) and a lot of the shirts are made from that shiny material that nobody except for techno-listening baby boomers wear, but when you find something you like - I can almost guarantee you'll be happy about the price. read more
