Quick & wonderful service. Slower for a Friday night around 615pm we arrived. They closed at 7. Few other tables came in while we were seated. Ordered a beer. For appetizer we ordered the crab cakes. Very delicious!! I ordered Mari's special Mac & cheese. Very rich & good!! Kinda wished it came with a little salad or bread to cut the richness, but still very good. Husband got the salmon entree. Comes with a small salad on plate with dressing of choice. Also your choice or marinara or Alfredo pasta. He said everything tasted so fresh & delicious and he ate everything on his plate! We loved our meal. Our waitress was kind, helpful, and attentive. The ambiance in here was so peaceful and relaxing and inviting. Definitely worth a trip into this restaurant! They also have a full bar, wines, and beer on tap. Can't go wrong! They have the menu well displayed outside and there's so many options you could come so many times to try things out. We stopped here after another local restaurant we tried was closed. It was a Blessing in disguise. We knew the food must be good by how busy they were besides the good reviews My daughter is still talking about the cheeseburger with garlic Aioli. It's been her favorite burger she's had so far. The shrimp in butter/creamy sauce with Rosemary bread was very good. Small side salad with homemade dressing hit the spot. Good vibes, great wait staff. A red haired gal who was helping out for the day and a very friendly guy who had braided goatee (ask him about the Elton John concert). We def will be going back. read more

This is the second time we've stopped for lunch on a casual Sunday drive and both times we raved at the extraordinary flavors with the European flare. I highly recommend The Gypsy, a spicy burger with sharp garlic auolie, siracha, and gorgonzola and homemade fries. Delish! Also I recommend the chicken schnitzel sandwich. I wanted a taste of Romania and Mari's was excellent. I closed my eyes while eating my appetizer soup and was brought back to my time visiting Romania. Mari's is a cute little bar/restaurant on bay street. The staff is really excellent, and it's clear they know the locals also. I had a seafood linguini, which was absolutely delicious! This was the absolute worst clam chowder I have ever eaten. Did not even resemble clam chowder. It was like a weird stew. Maybe I caught them on a bad day. I sure hope so because that was awful. It's been several years since we've eaten here. My wife screwed-up and gave Mari's another chance. She and 5 friends had lunch here and my wife was served an inedible burger and fries. A so- called bleu cheese burger was a dried out, obviously pre-cooked patty that was so dry and hard around the edges that you could hardly bite through it. How long does something like this sit in a warmer to make the bleu cheese dry to the point of being crunchy? The fries were pale and limp from being barely cooked. (I have since been told that they do not have a deep fryer and they attempt to use an air fryer). Ad to the bad food a long waiting time and you a restaurant best forgotten. There are some great places on Bay St. You should try them. read more

I like to review a restaurant or a cafe but this time we need to look at a specific dish. Wowser, you gotta do the Crab Crusted Halibut! It like the goodness of a nice halibut steak with a seafood explosion with every bite. The pasta on the side was full of flavor and really held its own next to the main event with its creamy sauce. The starter salad was very fresh and a nice mix of greens topped with a creamy ranch. We closed with a coffee, it was a very full and rich bodied coffee with the calm of real cream. This is a cute little place and the server was very nice. I ordered to side salads to go. One with grilled chicken and the other with prawns. The grilled chicken was so overcooked and dry it was more like jerky. The prawns were good. It took such a long time to get the salads that I almost cancelled and left. Even though the day we were there they were under staffed (only one waitress for all the 10 tables) the waitress did a great job and very friendly. I ordered the seafood omelette and my wife ordered the meat lovers omelette. My omelette was the perfect size and full of seafood and was good. I also got as a side a biscuit and side of gravy and both were fresh and good. My wife's also enjoyed her omelette. Well, we haven't tried here previously and really, nothing special to bring us back. My wife had the salmon salad and unfortunately the cook dropped the salmon on the floor so it took awhile to arrive. Once it did, the salmon was delicious . I had a chili omelet..ok..pretty standard. Small but wonderful restaurant in the heart of Old Town! The service is very attentive and accommodating. My family and I were pleasantly surprised that such places still exist where waiters don't just throw a menu onto your table, but go through the list and have recommendations. Again, the service was nice! Food: I ordered Mahi-Mahi -which was superb in taste and presentation. The nicest touch was when the cook came out and asked how everything was. The following morning we came in for breakfast. I chose the European style -Croissant +Coffee breakfast, and others at the table ordered a "Lubber jacK" which came in the US Jumbo breakfast portion. I'm trying to understand why this restaurant has close to 5 stars. We went to brunch here with our family and our total time spent there was close to two hours. They didn't check us in when we got there. When we were trying to figure out where to sit, they were rude and said if you see a table that could fit your family you can sit there and we can clear it. They didn't clear it. Not family friendly, seemingly. It took about 35 min. for our order to be taken and that was only after two tables before us were served and we had to ask for them to take our order. When we got our drinks they slammed it on the table by the mouth of the cup. The food was also subpar. The servings were really small for the price.
