Insalata! The anchovies are everything!

Elitest and for no reason. Fairly certain they lost their Michelin years also. Decade customer that brought dates, clients, investors. Only to be lectured for being drunk at best but not to the point of entry being denied. If they tried to, then maybe they should have been explicit instead of saying no seats at the bar until someone gave theirs up. As someone who worked in the service industry and whose job atm heavily relies on relationship building maintaining and efficiently communicating, this was poorly handled. Thanks for having me. Bye! Never coming back PERIOD. Service and communication have went from Top tier to negative 100. How the mighty has fallen.

Really good service and amazing food (beautifully plated) at this Italian pasta/fish place across from Central Park. Our appetizer, the Crudo di Trota, was perfection - raw salmon with a tiny bit of grape, almond and crema on top. Tiffany's mushroom risotto was full of Parmesan and quite delicious (and I don't really like risotto normally). My grilled branzino was atop a mix of spicy tomato and other veggies -- superb. Marnie's Ippoglosso - tender fish with perfectly crisp skin and complimentary brown rice / vegetable purée underneath - was seriously lovely too. We topped it off by trying the various gelato and sorbet options, of which they were all nice, but the dark chocolate sorbet was far and away the best. Dinner was an expensive indulgence, but we did not regret it one bit!

I finally was able to revisit Marea, which has been, and still is, a legendary NYC restaurant. It didn't disappoint! It's still a venue you can go to and know you're getting some of the finest food in the city. They served some delicious bread before the meal. I had a piece of focaccia and a piece of seeded bread. I enjoyed both with lots of olive oil! I ordered the Halibut, my partner ordered the Swordfish, and we shared the Pappardelle Granchio Reale, pasta with King Crab. The Halibut was seared perfectly, it was tender and flaky. However, the farroto-bean spread underneath the fish, with leeks , snow peas and a plethora of almonds accentuated the dish to a level that exceeded my expectations! It was one of the best halibut dishes I've had. My partner's Swordfish was cooked medium by request - it was tender, juicy and had a delicious fennel flavor with a chorizo vinaigrette. We shared the Pappardelle Granchio Reale, which was a pasta in garlic butter, with parsley and king crab on top. It was very tasty, and sharing it was perfect with the fish! We were quite full from dinner, but decided to order the Bombolini, which were little sugar powdered Beignets and a tiny cup of dark chocolate sauce. The doughnuts were flavorful but doughy and the 'dark chocolate' sauce was more of a caramel sugar sauce. Overall, Marea was the perfect venue for seeing old friends in the city. It's actually the perfect venue for any occasion!

Marea is the real deal. One of the best true high end restaurants anywhere. Understand that this is a seafood (underscore) Italian restaurant. The food is exquisite, the service impeccable, and it is a truly beautiful place. I've been twice in the past month for business dinners. So far I've tried the oysters, bruschetta (garlic bread, kaluga caviar, burrata), Branzino (seabass tartare, pistachio, calabrian chile, radish, chive) - out of this world, Madaldine Granchio Reale (pasta ribbons, king crab garlic butter, parsley, lemon, mollica) - also unbelievably good, and the tiramisu (sort of a deconstructed one). Un-be-lieve-able. The Branzino with the radish was life changing. The crab pasta is one of the best things I've ever eaten. All the food was wonderful, and the service is friendly and professional. Marea is at the top of my list. A true gem.

I've been wanting to come here for a long time, and I probably should have, because I'm not sure it's worth it anymore. The service was a bit bumpy. The sommelier was great, but our server was slightly condescending. Perhaps she judged us because we were a bit younger, but I don't think she realized we were paying with a corporate card. At some points the clearing was aggressive and at other points we had to ask for fresh plates between courses. I love the wine we ordered: a blanc de blancs with a surprisingly fruity finish and a delicious, classic chablis. The meal started and ended strong, but the in between was a bit puzzling. We loved: The Siberian caviar experience with the cheese puffs was divine. The oysters were good. The fusilli with octopus and bone marrow. The halibut main. The bistecca. Not so much: The sea urchin (ricci) had a weird flavor. The Nova Scotia lobster and burrata came with a sort of chia pudding, which didn't work in terms of flavor or texture. The sea bass tartare did not look appetizing and textures were a bit more interesting, but the flavors were not great. The ricotta ravioli was just okay. Not sure I would come back and they probably don't want me to after this review, but I'll likely opt to try one of the other 30,000 restaurants in this city.

This was such a wonderful and memorable experience for an elegant night out with family and friends. Our waiter, John, brought incredible energy to the evening and was exceptionally knowledgeable when guiding us through the menu. His recommendations and attention to detail made the experience even more enjoyable. The food was absolutely outstanding. From the Insalata--quite possibly the best Caesar salad I've ever had--to the Bomboloni that melted in your mouth, every bite was perfection. This is truly a place I will remember and look forward to visiting again. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a special dining experience.

Upscale Italian at Central Park West was excellent. $36 martinis was offset by a very reasonable Soave Classico "La Rocca" 2024 -- $115, great value. Fusilli with octopus was spectacular. All the food was terrific. The bread guy could have come more often. Service very good. The crowd was definitely uptown for this East Village native. The Astice appetizer was terrific, lobster with burrata. Appetizers average $40, entrees $65. Saturday crowd looked like regulars. We normally eat south of 23rd street. The bar was full as was the restaurant. I wanted to give 4 and a half stars. Maybe 5 stars next time.

Soooo good!! It lives up to the hype still. Loved everything. The ravioli was so good, it's got 2 different flavors inside which was magical. Also there's bread service that you can keep asking them for bread. I probably ate a whole lot of the sourdough. It was amazing! Try everything here!

Marea is definitely the scene located steps from Central Park, full of beautiful people & wallstreet types and buzzing like it's Friday night in Manhattan even on a Tuesday. We had a reservation and still waited about 20 minutes to be seated -The host staff were not friendly or welcoming at all - they had a "you get what you get" attitude but we weren't phased, it gave us time to people watch from the bar. Many guests were left standing and hovering near the hostess stand, which made the entrance area feel a bit chaotic. Once we finally got our table, the service was polite but kind of mechanical. Like, efficient but not exactly warm. The food was beautifully presented, but flavor wise it didn't match the price tag. We ordered a couple of appetizers , an entree and dessert so I left full... but not impressed. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to the hype or the price point for me. While beautifully presented, most of the dishes were somewhat underwhelming, especially considering Marea's reputation and cost. Now the one thing I would come back for is their "bruschetta." And I say that in quotes because it's not your typical tomato-basil pomodoro style . This one is garlic bread topped with burrata and kaluga caviar. It's fancy, it's bougie, it's delicious , basically the Beyoncé of appetizers. All in all, Marea is worth a try if you're staying nearby and want the full Manhattan dining experience of polished, pricey, and packed. But for me, it was more of a "been there, done that, glad I wore heels" kind of night. Probably not one I'd return to.

Sat outside this time (2025) and they had a great server with a good sense of humor, kept the drinks flowing and came to attention anytime we needed anything pretty regularly, fixing any order issues, and while the seating wasn't the most comfortable (a lot of noise and end of summer heat), the food and service was worth it. Appetizers were ok, probably have to try the oysters next time - the sea bass tartare was ok for me, others liked it more, and the polipo (grilled octopus) was good, they pre-cut it for us to help with sharing. Bread came around twice, and a small dip of olive oil to go with the multigrain or focaccia. Had 3 different pastas, these were all excellent, and they helped us split them up: - casarecce (crab, sea urchin, basil, chile) - excellent, rich - fusilli (octopus, bone marrow) - always a fave - risotto al funghi (mushroom, taleggio, parmigano) Desserts - panna cotta was softer than I'd like, and I don't like tiramisu, but the bomboloni dessert was great - little fried donuts and caramel/berry sauce to dip into. Overall, great spot again although next time I'll ask them to seat us inside.

Pan Roasted Duck topped with Pistachios

Another great meal in a beautiful space, soft lighting but bright enough to read the menus and white fabric blinds on the street side providing playful lighting rather than views of pedestrian and car traffic, quiet enough to enjoy the dinner conversation. The wait staff is very friendly and attentive. Now to the food, a few new dishes on the menu. Chose the creamy ricotta filled ravioli on a bed of puréed ramp topped with peas and crispy bits of lamb. Only wished there was a little more lamb, the crispy bits added a nice contrast in texture to the house-made ravioli. Their version of Cesar salad is incredible topped with toasted bread crumbs, the portion size more than generous enough to share. For dessert we shared the chocolate crema and the bombolinis which were fresh from the kitchen light and warm served with chocolate and caramel sauces.

Marea Old school in the best possible way. Marea doesn't try to reinvent Italian fine dining -- it just executes it at a level very few restaurants in New York can match. The pasta is exceptional. Casarecce, bomboloni to finish, acqua pazza that tastes like the sea. The Pillot Chassagne-Montrachet and Punta Crena Rossese were both excellent calls from a serious wine list. Service is warm, polished, and unfussy. Pricey, yes -- but you feel every dollar on the plate. A classic for a reason.

Love the malfadine pasta
Tansy W.

Came back for a Valentine's Day prefix and I continue to love the pasta and the tiramisu (which is different from traditional tiramisu - it has a hard outer chocolate shell). The only misses were the meat entrees - we got a duck and the steak and both were overcooked. But we didn't mind given how good everything else was.

Anniversaries!

My sister and I shared an app and a salad . We each got our own main : we both had pasta (hers had octopus and mine was vegetarian ) . You could Most definitely share dessert…

Are there vegetarian options?

Last I visited, pretty sure nearly everything had some type of meat product. Only 1 salad and sides are vegetarian friendly, but I would give a call to see how accommodating they are for vegetarians.

Tell our server we love rich goudas, goat cheeses and manchego's; but stray from any blue cheese family member or associate. He brought an array of an assortment! I do not recall the names of their cheese, two we liked one we did not appreciate. The unappreciated cheese was a reminder to my deep hatred for blue cheese and utter regret for even bringing it up to our server. TOO MUCH BREAD. Not because I am a model, but because I believe in proportion sizings, especially when it comes to the delicacies within the cheese world I aspire to be apart of. So lovely from start to finish!…read more Made reservations here last minute for a quick brunch with a friend. I knew I was coming from the New York Dog Parade in EV, so I called to make sure we could be seated outside. The hostess said over the phone it could not be guaranteed. I muttered Thanks and hung up. Much to my surprise, when I arrived the next day, I was greeted by a friendly hostess who said it would be totally fine to be seated with my fur baby. We sat in the back, at a comfortable and quiet small table where he was so happy and I WAS SO HAPPY too. (The hostess said since it was a bit chilly out, it would be better to be seated inside--so thoughtful) The brunch was on the quicker side, with no drinks and we both ordered the arugula salad. They brought our sourdough bread as well with olive oil - it was very yummy! The quick light lunch was extended a bit as we waiting for her husband and kid to pick her up and we also had the ice cream desert - it was phenomenal. Not too sweet, but with a chocolate drizzle and a fabulous presentation. No photos because we were so busy catching up. But I definitely want to come for dinner soon! The service was also great - waiter was so nice, patient with me and seeing my pup and didn't rush us either. Thanks, Barlume!!!

It's been a minute since we'd dined out (life on the other side of having a kid has been DIFFERENT…read morey'all) so we decided to go check Barlume out. Did you know this is where the Beecher's used to be?! RIP, I miss their Mac n cheese.... the vibe is completely different now (think extravagant Mediterranean vibes, it's very instagram-mable with the beautiful bar area). I had made a reservation for 5:30 (again, life with a baby is very different)- we arrived early but the staff were very gracious and were able to get us seated. They seated us in a side alcove area where they had cushioned seating, which was very helpful. What we Ordered: Drinks: Barlume Spritz and Hibiscus Mule (N/A cocktail)- drinks were good, nothing too special but we appreciated the cute stirrers Appetizer: Halloumi- grilled halloumi with roasted eggplant puree. The saltiness of the halloumi went so well with the creaminess of the eggplant. (Baby liked the eggplant puree too hah) Entrees: Lobster Arrabiatta and Duck Ragu and Truffle Pizza. My husband got the lobster arrabiatta and was raving about how delicious it was. He said it was the perfect level of spice. My duck ragu was served with busiate (a corkscrew shaped pasta) which I thought 'trapped' the sauce perfectly so you get a nice saucy bite each time. Pasta was perfectly al dente- my one gripe is that I felt the duck ragu was a bit too salty, which even managed to overpower the tomato flavor. We shared the truffle pizza, which came topped off with stracciatella, porcini mushrooms and shaved truffles. I liked the porcini mushrooms on the pizza, this was a first for me. For dessert (which we had to gobble down quickly because baby was starting to get fussy) we got the pistachio cake. SAVE SPACE IN YOUR STOMACH FOR THIS ONE!!! This was my favorite in the whole meal, the kataifi gives it that wonderful crumbliness and it went soooo well with the mango sorbet that's served with it. Recommend for a nice dinner with friends or a cool place to grab drinks! 4.5 stars

But just as I'd given my name and the hostess was about to seat me, someone at the bar stepped in to greet friends, and three people stood up to meet them. By the time I could get around them, the hostess was already at the far end of the restaurant, near a back room, not having waited to guide me the rest of the way. I'd barely reached the table, hadn't sat down or taken off my jacket, when a waiter greeted me and asked if I'd been to the restaurant before. I gave him a look that said I haven't even sat down yet, but he pressed on, asking what kind of water I wanted and whether I'd decided on a drink. In that moment, the room stopped feeling like fine dining and started feeling like a diner. When my friend arrived a few minutes later -- someone I hadn't seen in a long time -- a waiter was at the table the instant she sat down, asking what she wanted to drink. They tried to clear our starters twice while we were still eating, and at one point took the cutlery off my friend's plate while she was mid-bite of her salad, just to make room for the entrées. During the entrées, two waiters and a back waiter attempted to clear our plates three separate times while we were still eating. The food was delicious, and the space was lovely. But the sense of being rushed throughout the meal was the most absurd I've experienced at a restaurant like this. I won't be going back.
