We waited 45 minutes for our food. Then our food came out Luke Warm. Very disappointing.

Got the tip for this place from a volunteer at the lighthouse. My wife and I decided to check it out for some decent seafood. There is a minimal seafood menu. We had the perch sandwich. The food was served promptly and it was fresh. It was a really good sandwich, but a little pricey, especially since it costs extra for fries . This place is one of the best places ever to get breakfast. I live near Akron and my parents have a place on Catawba, and when we need breakfast this place is one of the first places we think of. I have to say I kinda miss the nostalgia of the old place, but the food is still top notch. I look forward to many breakfasts here this coming summer. read more

I enjoyed chicken fingers with a baked potato and salad with a basket of onion rings. The food was excellent! The baked potato was cooked to perfection, though a little skimpy on loaded part. The indoor seating needs to be updated and decorated better. Outdoor seating was very nice. read more

I get that restaurants are struggling during COVID, but maybe they shouldn't be scamming customers who are trying to support local businesses. I called for a lunch carry out order of three sandwiches, and the waitress asked me if I wanted chips or fries. She didn't explain there was an up charge of $6 per fry order- nor did she explain that once your order reaches $40, she will add a 20% gratuity. I accepted her offer of the fries (not knowing that fries weren't included with the sandwich price, unlike the chips) and when I arrived to pick up the order, I was shocked at the nearly $60 price tag... for three mediocre sandwiches. The waitress (same one who took my order) could not have been more rude to me. She told me about the extra charges and that it was my fault for not asking about the up charges. I told her I would never have ordered the fries if I had known they weren't included, and asked why she offered them on the phone as if they were the same price as the chips? She all but rolled her eyes and told me it wasn't her problem. Needless to say, she was working hard to get her 20% surprise gratuity. Hubby and I stopped here for lunch this past weekend. We were seated right away, and got drinks quickly. We both ordered the chicken chibatta sandwich, which was like chicken fajita in chibatta. It was delicious and huge. We both got fries, which were also great. Our server was very good but the food was a bit slow to come out. It was worth the wait, it was great. A local spot recently relocated to a remodeled building resembling a fishing wharf warehouse. The owner, Missy, offers good sandwiches, entrees, and a great breakfast at very reasonable prices. They often have Lake Erie perch on Fridays, and there may be a wait to be seated. They have the best club sandwich in the area, available on homemade breads. They always have a good assortment of homemade pies and desserts. The wait staff are nice local gals, most with loads of expereince. They take good care of the diners. There is a nice bar area attached, and they offer some enetertainment during the summer season weekends. read more

TERRIBLE SERVICE, RUDE MANAGER, HEALTH CODE VIOLATION My wife and I wanted to take our wedding guests to the Galley for brunch the day after our wedding. We called ahead to make sure they could accommodate our group of 20-25 people and we were assured that it wouldn't be a problem. Upon arriving, our tables were set up and ready to go. My wife and I sat down and waited for our guests to arrive. There were about three other tables in the restaurant. We were given ONE server for our entire group. They were not short-staffed, as I observed multiple servers standing around in the back. Our waitress was extremely rude, often putting her hand up and telling us that, "You'll just have to wait a minute" when we asked for drink refills. After waiting for 2 hours for our food to come out, the shrimp special of the day looked like a child's meal- four small shrimp and a few french fries. When I asked to speak to the manager, I was asked, "Why, what's your problem?" in a mean and nasty tone from one of the workers. I simply asked to speak to her about the poor service and terrible quality of our food. The manager refused to come out of the kitchen and speak to me. When I finally did get to speak to the manager, I had to follow a server into the kitchen (HEALTH CODE VIOLATION), because the manager still refused to come out and talk to me. She also greeted me with the question, "Whats your problem?" I explained to her how we had been waiting two hours for our food, we only had one rude server despite the fact that there were other servers doing nothing, and how we were not given the meals that they advertised. Her only response was, "That's how I run my business, if you don't like it, leave." The waitress also told one of our guests that they were able to treat people like this because they "are the only restaurant in the area." The restaurant then proceeded to charge our guests ridiculous amounts for "market price" for some of the fish sandwiches. My father in law was charged $72 for french fries. I angrily left the premises. I will NEVER EAT AT THE MARBLEHEAD GALLEY again. The service and food is terrible and they simply treat their customers in an awful manner. read more

I really wanted to love this place. For two adults and two kids it was $45. My husband got the perch dinner for $16.99. The portion they gave him was very very ample. Kids ordered off the kids menu and I got the buffalo chicken wrap. The food really was amazing and the atmosphere was super casual. The service though was horribly slow (as other reviewers pointed out). Our waitress was friendly but drink refills, requests, etc. just didn't happen. They lost one star for the and the second for the space. It was so cramped! Too many tables in not enough space. Go for the food but go knowing it's not the best for eating in. read more

Breakfast is an enjoyable experience. The food is fresh, prepared as requested,at a good value.

Decor is basic chairs and formica tables, with a nicer bar in the next room. The breakfast menu looked good and what we had from it was fine. The dinner menu is ok, and the fresh perch and walleye dinners were pricey compared to what you get. The lobster bisque was Ok, but lacking in actual pieces of lobster, nor was there much of a lobster flavor. We had an afternoon snack in the bar, one breakfast and one dinner over a three day weekend and the service was attentive each time. The waitress warned us that the dinner salmon salad would take 25 minutes, to make sure we were Ok with the wait to get it. She was correct about the time, which makes no sense as it takes but a few minutes to cook salmon. I assume the time was due to defrosting it. The best thing about the place is the homemade breads and desserts. $129 for dinner for four with two desserts and three beer. If I go back it will just be for breakfast, which was good and priced for far better value than dinner. read more
