Visited Jamestown Tavern recently for dinner. We had a group of 10 people and we were seated immediately. It took a while to get food and drinks, but we were not in any hurry. We ordered a bunch of food and drinks, including pizza, sandwiches, bone-in and boneless chicken wings, and nachos. My hot Italian sub was hot and delicious. The nachos were decent too. The bartender was nice and the atmosphere at this bar was great. The bar is well kept, had friendly clientelle, and there was a DJ as well as a digital juke box. Everyone liked their food and we all agreed that we would return in the future. Great bar! read more

The best secret of Lakesiders trying to find a great beer selection and a place to watch the games. As Lakeside is dry, and TV reception in rental cottages is rare - it is perfect place to take a walk to get away from the family for a while! Great bands, jukebox, the friendliest staff and customers anywhere in Marblehead. Prices are unbelievably cheap, not a lot of markup. Pizza nights with Tom are special if you are lucky enough to find yourself there during one of those. Special fun events like Buckeye games and St. Patricks Day parties. They're clearly not so interested in dealing with non-locals. We were happy to see them showing as open as we are rehabbing a house in the area during the off-season when a lot of things are closed. They had good reviews and the sign outside said open, and there was a group inside that seemed to be having a private party but no other customers outside the group. The waitress brought us water but then never returned so we just left. On our way out she looked up from her seat at the bar & said sorry but didn't make any move to get up. read more

Once or twice a month, I stop by here to pick up hot Italian subs for my dad, my guy, and myself. The sandwiches are good and DANG, where do they get that bread??? It's delish. The food is hot, but this is really the only thing on the menu I completely love. My only complaint is that they have an air freshener (that plugs into the wall) and it gives me a headache every time I go in to eat. So? Now I just take the food home - lol. Snuck away for a few minutes alone with Hubby during a multi-generational Lakeside Chautauqua family vacation. Just a few minutes outside the gate. Cute little dive bar. We didn't eat but everyone else seemed to be. All the food looked and smelled good. Everyone seemed to be enjoying it. Had the chicken bacon ranch sub, barmaid said it was good.....she either doesn't get out much.....or our taste buds are totally different. I order the carry out a lot. Try the chicken wings with dry rub then tossed in the sweet bourbon sauce. The subs and specialty pizzas are good also. If you just want to somewhere to stop in have a few drinks while you play darts and listen to live music then this is your tavern. The management and staff are always having fundraisers and charity drives I think that's cool. read more

This is definitely a local dive. Friendly crowd, friendly service. As for the food? All we ordered was wings because the menu just wasn't very interesting. Turns out they only have an oven to cook with. Not great for wings. They were slimy and not at all crisp. They charge extra for the blue cheese (which was an odd shade of yellow so we didn't eat it) and the celery. Come for the cold beer and decent band, but go elsewhere to eat. read more
