We went here after reading glowing reviews and it did not live up to expectations. The food was not good and the service was barely passable. It had a nice atmosphere and the staff was friendly, but slow. My brisket Mac and cheese tasted like microwave chili Mac. It is clear they are just heating up frozen premade food. This is a great spot for a drink or a meal. It is located in the heart of downtown Sandusky. If you are coming here and new to the area, be sure to leave some time before or after to stroll the area. It is right on Lake Erie and there are several unique restaurants, bars, and shops to explore. Shore House offers My staple here is the buffalo chicken dip appetizer and the perch dinner. If you are spending the day at Cedar Point, this area is a short drive and a good way to end the evening. Shore House has a good selection of beers and it is also a great place to watch a game. This was a cute little place that had a bar area along with indoor seating for high top and low top tables. It was clean and set up well for flow of patrons. We got there at 11 am and it was empty but by 1130 it was over half full. Bartender was friendly and allowed my friend to try several different beers on tap and was patient as we decided what to eat. This place had one of my very favorite drinks which is Cider Boys so that alone gave this place a leg up for me! We ordered shrimp tacos which had good flavor and shrimp was tender and a fair portion size. We also ordered a blackened grouper sandwich with American cheese and sweet potato tots. The fish had wonderful flavoring and I really liked the seasoning...not too salty not too spicy and the portion of sweet potato tots was huge. Price was fair but as we all know prices just keep going up! I would recommend this place to anyone visiting the area for sure. read more

My friends and I decided to stop in here after a long day of riding coasters at Cedar Point! When we walked in we were greeted by one of the wait staff. Our waiter was Brad. He has an interesting personality that took us a bit to get use to. He did a great job at our table and was always on top of it! Our table ordered a lot of stuff! We had 3 appetizers. 2 buffalo chicken dips and their 7 layer dip. All of which were really good. We had an array of food from wings, burgers, lobster roll and chicken and waffles. The best thing by far was the chicken and waffles. I've had a lot of chicken and waffles but this place had one of the best I've ever had. The waffles were made of a special batter that made them amazing. I am not sure if they were worth 24$ but they were amazing. The lobster roll was decent but not incredible. Burgers were just okay and the fries were thin but good. Overall this place is a good bar place with great priced drinks and upscale bar food. We would come back and recommend you trying it out! read more

If i was a local here, I would probably make this a regular spot simply because of the vibes and the decent food. The service was great, very attentive and they were training at the time so I'm happy to see them doing it the right way! The Mac n cheese....hmm...this is my own fault really. I am a MNC connoisseur and I am hard to impress, sorry not sorry, but most macs are just bland lets be honest here! I was not blown away by theirs either, but the options are there so many I'd like one of their other macs. We got the one with bacon and jalapenos and I'm glad as those 2 items at least added flavor! It was super cheesy but didn't taste the cheese. We, of course, ordered perch which was AWESOME. Would definitely order again if I was a local. We were looking for a place with a relaxed atmosphere, friendly service, and great food -- Shore House Tavern checked all the boxes. We ordered from their extensive beer and wine list and enjoyed the calamari and sauerkraut ball appetizers. We ordered the latter on a whim, anticipating that they would be seasonally fun but not that memorable on the palette. WE WERE WRONG! Both the calamari AND Silvia's sauerkraut balls were delicious: lightly fried and coated, rich in taste, and generous portions. As an entree, we enjoyed the vegetable pizza which was described as with thin crust and 12". True to its description, the pizza came out at the perfect temperature, wonderfully thin crust, with generous, fresh ingredients. Having shared the appetizers, we also shared the pizza with two slices left over. The vibe was casual, with many widescreen TVs quietly tuned in to various (and different) sporting events. This place was lovely! It's a casual and fun bar that happens to have excellent food. I got the lobster mac and cheese which was good but lacking some flavor. My table also ordered the fried perch dinner with beans and sweet potato tots, as well the blackened grouper sandwich. All of these things were amazing! There was one complaint of the perch possibly lacking seasoning as well but the rest of us disagreed. The service was also phenomenal. No real complaints other than they could go heavier on the salt & pepper! read more

The food at shore house never disappoints and they have something for everyone, weather it's a burger or a steak or seafood. In my estimation the service has improved to top notch. The Ambiance is casual and a great place to grab a bite before a concert at Jackson Pier. read more

I was looking for someplace unique in Sandusky while we were there. Looking at the different yelp reviews we decided on shore House Tavern. We were not disappointed. Arriving slightly after 3:30 PM. There was only one other table that was filled. We decided to sit at the bar. Our bartender was friendly and personable and made some great recommendations for us. I decided on their Sandusky cheesesteak while my wife, their brisket tacos. I thought my cheesesteak was incredibly delicious! My wife enjoyed her tacos, but there was some meat that was a little bit rarer than she would prefer. All in all it was a great visit! read more

Let me start by saying they have a very interesting beer selection. They had a mango wheat, a pretzel wheat, an orange chocolate blonde and a peanut butter milk stout just to name a few. I had the mango wheat, it was very good. Had a wheat beer taste but you could absolutely Taste the mango as well. Hubs tried the orange chocolate blonde and really enjoyed it. We ordered two flatbreads - the pineapple brisket and the lobster roll. Both of these were excellent! No lacking on the lobster!! Menu was unique and different Ambience 100 out of 100 the full view glass garage doors provide beautiful view of lake. It was a few weeks before their winter close. Watching the sunset was beautiful. Thought it was cold outside the girls had to go out to get a selfie it was warm and comfortable inside. Although the waiter got our checks mixed up he was his service and humor were good. The food and service were both great. We are on vacation and we were looking for someplace local to try, rather than a chain. We ordered a salad, shrimp tacos, and a children's Mac n cheese. The tacos were very flavorful and tasty. The Mac n cheese was also a hit. I was glad that it just wasn't Kraft and that it was actual Mac n cheese. I tried a couple of bites and it was delicious. If we were local, we would come back. It seemed like a fun bar atmosphere, with the trivia night that was going on. read more

If you're looking for a typical bar food stop this place is it. They have good beer and average bar food. We had a burger, fries and shrimp tacos it was decent but nothing we'd go out of our way for. Stopped at Shore House Tavern for a Sunday lunch on our way home after vacationing at Cedar Point. It was well worth the stop. My spouse had what he said was one of the best burgers he's ever had. It was juicy with fresh toppings, 'messy and wonderful, like a burger should be,' he said. I had the blackened walleye tacos, which were outstanding and the portion was ample. I could not finish them all. We had fried calamari for an appetizer and it was great. My daughter had fried shrimp and raved about them as well. The service was excellent and the dining area was clean and nicely arranged so you can watch TV above the bar or visit without loud music. Nothing fancy, but you come for the food. read more

Sat night we ate dinner at the Shore House Tavern downtown Sandusky. They were out of a lot of items on the menu, Id guess due to it being so busy the last week. The food was decent but small portions for the large prices. Our waitress was fabulous!!! Sweet, attentive and made a mean margarita. read more

The vegetarian options were limited to salad and a Beyond Burger. Them cilantro lime dressing was good but the salad was nothing special. My husband and son ordered the grouper. Despite requesting minimal seasoning it was super spicy. They only had one serving available so my husband switched to perch. My husband ate the grouper and loved it while my son ate the perch. My parents ordered the brisket taco. My mom took one bite and sucked down every available water glass on the table. It appeared to be seasoned in tobasco. She couldn't eat her meal either.
