Excellent all around. Best meal in we had in Put-in-Bay. The blackened grouper was delicious. So light and moist. I preferred to eat it without the bun. It came with a large helping of fries -- also very good. My wife got the mahi mahi tacos, which were excellent as well. Most of the stars are for the fantastic musicians- sunset duo!! During high season, you can regularly find live music here. Ambience is also nice- right on the water with a large outdoor patio. But beware of where you sit- if you choose to forgo hosted seating, you are stuck on the patio. It would have been nice to have that made obvious before we all roasted in the sun. We visited on a Saturday and had no problem finding golf cart parking or seating once inside. We had a drink and sat around the fire at the outdoor bar and fire pit. There was a live band playing and the whole vibe was very relaxed island mode. We then went to the restaurant. They were very dog friendly and got our pup water when they brought out ours. The menu had a decent selection and the waiter was really friendly. The kids loved the chicken and fries. And the husband loved the bbq pork belly. This is our first visit to the island with some close friends. So it's been fun exploring and seeing the sights. The bar being on the water and our server were the best part of lunch. I ordered the smash burger and it was good but not something that I would tell my friends about. My wife had the mahi salad with pineapple salsa which turned out to be red cabbage marinated in pineapple juice. We also ordered an appetizer that arrived after our food arrived. It's not hard to bring the appetizer out first. The drinks were good and reasonably priced the girls liked them. Would I come back to have a drink? Wish i could give 4 stars but because of the terrible customer service it had to be 3. Service was awful and food was okay. Our server was not into customer service at all. The place has a cool island vibe. Bright colors island cuisine. Live music was a nice addition to our meal. We sat right next to the water, the location of the table is a little annoying because its kinda like they just stuck this table in at the end of the walkway for extra by the water. The sun was directly in my eyes and no asked if we wanted to move when the waitress could clearly see i was struggling. There was no way to avoid it. I asked if they could move an umbrella and she said it didnt move but there was one that could. Our server didnt pay attention to our table no introduction, no check ins. We needed extra napkins the whole dinner and she disappeared. Plus she took my husband's plate before asking if he was done or if he needed a box. I asked him if he was done and SHE answerd yes he was. How rude! She ended up having a big party that came and i heard plenty of intros and her seeing if everything was alright with their tables and party. I had the shrimp tacos. They were just okay. . The shrimp was overcooked and salsa and crema didn't have much flavor. I had a pineapple coconut margarita and it wasn't that great. They didnt have any other margaritas on the menu from what i was told. Avoid like the plague! Open tables with staff standing around and talking. Hostess would not seat a party of 6 adults, with a baby in a stroller without a legthy 45 minute wait. Asked her about the open tables and the hostess said we could only sit there if all of us had a full meal??? We now choose to never spend our money there again. read more

It was beautiful and our server was very nice and calm, considering she was probably very busy. The drinks were great and the chips and dip were super good. My black bean burger was pretty burnt though. So that was a bit disappointing but I always care more about ambience and there was live music that was great. read more

Upon arriving our first time on PIB, we checked out a few lunch spots and this one won over a few others. We were glad we made the choice. We had no wait at 1:00pm on a Sunday and though it was full, we had great service on the side (west) patio. I will tell you this, we spent a few days prior in Port Clinton and the surrounding area. We had some great meals with made from scratch kitchens: the likes of Rosie's downtown PC, and Cleats in Marblehead. You could taste the quality and freshness, and the price was good. Like a lot of things on any island, The Keys was a bit over priced ($12 for a kids meal kind of stuff), and the food quality while good flavor profiles, was not the same. It was not poor quality by any means, but it was not a scratch or even partial scratch kitchen. I had what I believe was called the Caribbean burger (pineapple and a spicy sauce on it). Good flavor combo but you could tell it was not angus beef and it was over cooked (I asked for medium and got MW+). My wife got the Mahi Bowl. Good flavor but it was salad based and the quality of the fish was just okay. I guess we were spoiled by the fresh perch and walleye from days prior. All that said, we would give it another try if for nothing but the great views and friendly service. read more

All bars are expensive on PIB, but I think they have the best mixed drinks and shots here for the money. They also have a large variety of frozen drinks, which is what most people were getting. It was our last stop and the only place I caught a buzz. That's saying a lot because I only drink a couple of times a year. Getting a seat outside can be tough, but if you do they usually have good live music. The last two times we have been there, there was a fabulous singer/guitar player that sounded Melissa Etheridgesk. Something to note bow that PIB has decided to charge hourly parking downtown is that The Keys has their own parking lot free of fees. We flew in and decided to try this place for a change. (Usually go to The Boardwalk.) my husband had the shrimp basket. Large tasty shrimp perfectly fried and great seasoned fries. I had the chicken chimichuri bowl. Not good. Shredded very dry chicken which seemed like leftovers. The rice et al was good, but not enough to make up for the chicken. I barely ate half the bowl. For the kids menu it included a kids soft drink but service didn't mention that lemonade cost more which is very infuriating. Our favorite meal we had on the island. It was one of the most expensive meals we had while on the island, but was delicious and taste justified the cost. The grouper special with coleslaw was very good. Sweet potato fries were yummy, but pretty standard and no special sauce like some restaurants offer. Not a bad thing, but just something to note. Carnitas rice bowl was FANTASTIC! salsa was very refreshing and meal was very filling, but didn't feel heavy. Service was good, but not great. In general a visit during the off season (end of September) customer service in general on the island was not overly friendly, but not rude either. The Keys was decorated very cute and I'm sure during the summer months is a really fun place to have drinks and play some outdoor games. He said he'd hook me up and I'm guessing he sure did. $17 for a very small and weak margarita. And I drank two. . That won't happen again. My little family of 3 ate every bit of what we ordered from Alex, a very upbeat and professional young lady. We never received the Grouper Fingers that I ordered and paid for, but nothing can be done now about it. That's my only disappointment. Otherwise, the entire lunch experience that we had was outstanding, as usually is the case at The Keys. They're pricey, definitely resort style prices, but they deliver on flavor and portions. Go here to get an island experience. The Keys is the northernmost bar and restaurant in Put-in-Bay. This is right off of the ferry so get off and go order a margarita or a rum. It certainly gets into an island atmosphere. The food is good too. I noticed this place right away. It's right where you get off the ferry. This is part of an area with several bars and eating areas, so don't hesitate to go wander around sipping. My lady friend wanted a margarita. This sounded good to me too. It's about $3 for a good sized one. These came in a plastic cup, which made it easy to carry around with us. I also wanted something to munch on. The chips and salsa was good for something that's real simple. It's about $5 for a large portion of chips. The salsa was fresh tasting. It may have come from a jar but I couldn't tell by tasting it. The drinks may have improved the food but I couldn't be sure. If you're on Put-in-Bay you have to go to the Keys. Lots of good drinks and food to munch on. The atmosphere and music gets cheesy but it's fun to puff along to. read more

I hate even writing this because we have been to The Keys so many times. The place has always been great. The views alone are top notch. But man, their Gen Z hosts need a serious attitude adjustment. Place was not busy for a later Sunday afternoon. Had 10 of us, 6 adults 4 kids, wanted to sit at a table. We were told 'no we cannot combine tables', mind you there were tons of open seating outside. Yet in the past we have been able to combine tables no problem. Then we were told unless you are eating, you cannot sit at table, if only having drinks youll have to be down below. Bro, we have kids, you think were not going to order food? Then as we were walking away to discuss options, we caught the Genz's smirking and laughing and slightly pointing at us. Yeah no thanks, well spend our $ at the other Key style bar by you. GenZ, some advice (even though you all know everything) good service keeps business running, money is money, but poor GenZ attitudes turn people away. ill still come here in the future because the place is really nice. read more
