This was our last stop on the island. Loved our bartenders - they were super friendly and chatted with us about the island and its inhabitants. We were there in late September so it was super quiet. I loved the big "pay it forward" board where you can pay for a drink for someone and they can claim in later (within one year). We just got drinks, but the food menu looked really tasty. Nate got the hot honey Manhattan, which was very good! We loved the kick from the hot honey. I got a 1oz pour of Blanton's which was very reasonably priced. They have a pretty extensive bourbon menu for a sports bar. Lots of sports team memorabilia, would be a fun place to watch a game. read more

I went with a large party and we were split into two tables. The Bloody Mary was excellent. The tacos not so much.... They were tiny, expensive, and unimpressive. The shrimp taco had 3 little shrimp and was nothing special, the pork belly taco was spicy and lacked any sort of texture. The hand cut fries made up for the taco disappointment. read more

2nd try is the charm. Tried for breakfast that morning and just stood & stood with no acknowledgement from staff as the sign clearly stated wait to be seated.... Tried later in the day for a late lunch ... outdoor seat with N umbrella... great wait staff! Recommend the 1/2 shrimp and it was fantastic!!! QUALITY SERVICE so we all love the reel bar it's a great alternative to roundhouse if ur not feeling it! Fantastic reel burg. Beautiful waitresses. Cheap booze for the island anyway. Funny T-shirt's. It's always a must visit for me anyway, but this time I parked by the police station. Save a trip later I thought HA. So I walk up the stairs & the boss man is telling people to hold up, we shut down for a minute for cleaning around 4. So I walk right by oblivious and sit down the bar. I get a couple rum & cokes & chat up Erica and blah blah blah drink drink drink. Couple wraps up their lunch and leaves. Meantime there's a line out the ass outside waiting to get in. They're cleaning the tables sweeping restocking and there I am. People are looking inside like what's with Gilligan there at the bar?? Well I wrapped up the day drink said my goodbyes to the bartendress and see the man on the way out. He unchains the stair gate, there ya go buddy. I said hey Man whoops u were closing it down and I had my happy hour anyway. Nice guy, WHO CARES HE SEZ, SOMETIME'S ITS ALL ABOUT TIMING. Stopped in to the Reel Bar to try the Reel Royal Red Shrimp. We were not disappointed!! These deep water shrimp were amazing. When dipped into the melted butter, they tasted just like lobster. Thumbs up to our waiter Vito too. read more

Honesty I had to review due to the outrageous prices we were charged and the bad food we were served. Not cool.

It was our first trip to Put-In-Bay and we stopped here for lunch. It's mayfly season (yuck) so we sat Indoors. Ronnie was our server and he was outstanding. He let us know that they were known for their burgers and let us know his favorite. He was quick with the drinks and stayed on top of refills. We ordered the loaded tots and wow! These are not your average Dayton Ohio tots! They seriously should be called something else, these were so much better than tots! Huge potato balls covered with cheese and bacon deliciousness. They were a meal themselves. They seemed expensive when ordering but when they arrived it all made sense. We both ordered the Sweet Bourbon Burger (I know, we just have the same tastes I guess) cooked medium with fries. The burger was cooked perfectly! It was huge and hard for me to finish after those "tots" but it had good flavor, good crunch, and I would get it again. As we wrapped up Ronnie asked what we'd be doing later and filled us in on what would be going on at the bar. He was very personable and proficient and is the type of person I would want working for me of I owned a bar. read more

Three years ago my family had a terrible experience at Reel Bar. On a recent trip to put in bay (October 2022) my family decided to give Reel Bar another try. All I have to say is WOW in terms of the difference. On the first visit (we went twice...get to that in a minute) the place was slammed. However, we were seated quickly and the hostess made sure the table and chairs were clean and the table properly set for our group of 8. After that the experience only stayed consistently great. The waitress was spot on and wonderful with our table which included 5 kids. From beginning to end the experience was flawless. We even decided to go again during our visit just to see if the experience would be similar. I have to say it was just the same. Great food, great service and great atmosphere. I even made sure to seek out the owner to let him know and to acknowledge what an improvement from that first visit years ago. Do yourself a favor and head to Reel Bar. BEST restaurant on the island by FAR. I strongly recommend the fried pickles, literally best I have ever had anywhere and believe me I get them every where I go. read more

Two stars because the food was very good but extremely overpriced for the portion sizes. We paid $179 for 3 apps and drinks for a party of nine. $20 for the smallest nacho ive ever seen in my life. Very disappointed. When I asked for more chips for the nacho the waitress charged us $6 for a small plate of chips. The atmosphere is very nice, and it appears that the locals dine here often as the servers were falling all over themselves to keep them happy. We started with the tater tot appetizer, but were disappointed. These are home made tater tots, and lack flavor. The presentation is nice, but they are missing something like onions. I had the buffalo chicken flatbread, which had a wonderful taste, but lacked actual chicken. There were only five small pieces of chicken on the whole flatbread, which was disappointing. My husband had a cheeseburger and fries and they were great. Burger was cooked perfectly and the fries were hot and fresh. Service was spotty, which was annoying as there were only 3 tables of customers. We had to ask for everything. The menu has a lot of odd choices, and even for a resort town, the prices are high. In particular, the grilled cheese sandwich for 10.95 is a bit extreme. They offer music at night and there is a nice bar. read more

South Bass Island, Ohio --- I kinda thought the "Reel Bar" being off the main street (Delaware Avenue) would have better bartenders, nicer atmosphere, better prices, or something that would make me leave wanting more ... I was wrong on everything! The Walleye fish sandwich was like eating a grease sandwich, the fries were limp, the bartender was young & inexperienced (spent all her time working on bar restocking, rather than customers), definitely nothing inexpensive, and the atmosphere is too sterile ... We stopped here for dinner on a Thursday night and it was pretty dead. We sat outside on the patio and there is a decent amount of space. Drinks were decent but a little pricey. That applies for the food menu as well. The prices are a little steep, but the food was good. The onion rings were great, and the chicken wings/chunks were good as well. Our server was somewhat inattentive, but since they were slow I'm sure she was working on side work/ chatting which is understandable. Good place to stop for a bite to eat! read more

Darn near impossible to find vegan options in PIB, so when I called and they said the Veggie Sloppy Joe AND the Black Bean Burger were BOTH vegan my stomach fluttered! I can attest to the deliciousness of the Sloppy Joe. And my whole fam went nuts for the fries. I'll be back to have the burger by the time we depart. We always stop in for breakfast when we are on the island. They have great biscuits and gravy! Top em with some over medium eggs...yes please!! My only qualm is sometimes the service is spotty. But usually always a great breakfast! And you can have a drink from their bar with your breakfast! It's overall my fav breakfast place on the island! read more

Food was decent, not great, but it's a vacation area, so that's pretty much expected. You don't get much bang for the buck, but the service is super friendly, and they have some good beers on tap. Stay away from the sesame seared tuna. It's not fresh and is sadly served cold. The tacos are small, but at least they are warm. read more

Most places on PIB serve bar food, this place had some good options for vegetarians, of which our group had a few. They also had vegetables! The black bean sloppy Joe was very good and the rest of our party was happy with their orders.
