Very disappointing We have a cottage on the islands and yesterday we had some time available before our ferry so we stopped in to take advantage of their early happy hour (3-6) as we've been there before and enjoyed it. Not this time. It was about two minutes to 3 when we sat at the bar (nobody else at the bar but us) and asked for a menu. The bartender (male) gave us dinner menus so we asked could we please have the lunch menus. He looked at his watch and said "I guess so" and gave them to us. We then asked for the happy hour menu and again, he looked at his watch , decided it was ok, then gave them to us. Not an awesome start but no biggie. We ordered the happy hour calamari, and for lunch I had the perch sandwich with chips and wife got the luncheon steak filet. First the good news. Service was good, food came out quickly and my wife said her steak (while a bit pricey at $35 for a small filet) was excellent as were the green beans that came with it. Now the bad. The calamari was severely over-fried and basically tasteless. My wife asked me "do you taste anything?" and candidly, I didn't. Just the dipping sauce. My perch was equally flavorless, all I tasted was bread. Same goes for the 1/2 baked potato that came with the steak. That looked and tasted exactly like a microwaved potato someone sprinkled a bit of shredded cheese on. Very, very bland. And the homemade chips that came with the perch were the saltiest things ever salted. I couldn't eat them at all, had about three (they looked great) and realized my sodium level would spike off the charts if I ate any more. With two drinks (a happy hour beer & Tito's) the bill with tip was $100 and we couldn't taste the calamari, the perch or the potato and couldn't eat the chips. Good location...easy to find...waitstaff was attentive but the bartender kept us waiting for our adult beverages due to a disappearing act...we ordered calamari for an appetizer and was disappointed with the resemblance to shards of wood...one of my scallops was tender and delish but second one was tough and didn't try the third....the Brussels were also overcooked and my risotto was undercooked...restaurant itself was beautiful with outdoor seating and landscaping...terribly disappointed so not very many photos...maybe just a bad day??? read more

Orchard Bar & Table is one of my absolute favorite restaurants and hangouts spots. The food is delicious and seasonal, the atmosphere is beautiful and still fun, the drinks are awesome, and the service is impeccable. I've had multiple business dinners, birthday dinners, and girls days there and never once have we left disappointed. If I didn't live 1.5 hours away, I'd be here weekly. The espresso martinis are a must, they have a great wine selection, all of the appetizers are delicious, and the entrees are chefs kiss. Plus it's just a beautiful restaurant with the best patio. Make sure to snag reservations if you can, it's always so busy! Was very impressed with the service we received while booking reservations through OpenTable. Staff was able to meet our request to be close to a fireplace. Service was great, even though it was packed. Our server, Sydney, was very attentive and helped pace our meal well. The only downside is it is always SO loud here, especially if you are in the back area with the bar. If you have allergies, you can ask for their allergen menu. It is a little bit different from most menus, as allergens in each menu item are listed vs. stating "gluten free" or "vegan" (minus the regular dessert menu). I just love how inclusive all of their menus are - from NA drink options, to a variety of main course options based on your needs (I need gluten free and dairy free), and a gluten free/vegan dessert option. I know many regular guests complain about the GF/Vegan chocolate cake, but I'm obsessed with it! I seriously dream about it and always look forward to it when I get a chance to come back. We have been to a number of restaurants over the years. I have never seen where they charge a "non-service gratuity fee" for the chef's. Plus the meal was at best not even average. Tuna salad on crescent roll with fries ( I could count how few fries), tomatoes and mozzarella with pesto Sandwich (with no pesto) with a bag of chips and two ice teas. $50.00‍ Won't be back anytime soon. read more

My husband and I took three of my friends To dinner the other night they had never been there and we're excited to go. We love it there. Well, I don't know what was going on, but my friend had coconut shrimp. It was burnt. My other friend had a chicken wrap sandwich. She couldn't even eat the chicken. It was so dry and overcooked at least that wasn't burned. My hamburger was burnt black I couldn't even eat it because it was so horrible my french fries rice cold. The server never came back to ask how our food was or to fill our drinks or to see if we needed any thing at all it wasn't busy so I don't understand what was going on. What an amazing place!! Being it was our first time, I didn't realize that there were 3 distinct places to eat. We chose the Orchard Bar & Table the first night. We had great food in a beautiful atmosphere. But with one server, drinks were slow. Then there was a horrible odor that came from the open doors. I understand we were at an orchard but doors being shut could have maybe prevented that. On our second night we tried the Orchard Stand. Again, the food was amazing. Our servers were great! The peach bbq sauce was great! I would have loved to purchase some to take home, along with a wonderful smelling Rosemary hand soap in the bathroom! First, Ava, our knowledgeable and charming server, let me know there is a brand new dedicated gluten free fryer, AND they now offer gluten free bread! Music to my ears.... While out in Catawba spending time with my #1, we were looking for a nice place to eat and literally stumbled upon Orchard Bar & Table. It was a summer Sunday evening around 5 p.m., and the parking lot was packed. I figured we'd be waiting at least an hour--but to our surprise, we were seated right away. They offered us indoor or outdoor seating, and we chose indoors. The space was beautiful, and the ambiance was perfect. Our server, Colin, was friendly and attentive. He quickly brought us menus and went over the specials. For our appetizer, we ordered the whipped feta with hot honey and pita bread--and wow, what an incredible dish. It was rich, flavorful, and honestly could've been a meal on its own. Don't sleep on this one! For dinner, my wife ordered the lobster roll with truffle fries, and I had the scallops with black rice. We also shared a bowl of lobster bisque, which turned out to be the best we've ever had--loaded with chunks of lobster and served in a generous portion. It was so good it could've stood as the main course. Our entrées came out promptly after the soup. The lobster roll was perfectly prepared, and my wife really enjoyed it. My scallops were delicious--seared just right and paired well with the black rice. Orchard Bar & Table is a nice upscale restaurant with a great menu! I thought that the food and drinks were spectacular and would come back again. The atmosphere was high end and the perfect spot during for dinner during the holidays. They had very tasteful holiday decor and live music. The service could be better. We waited quite awhile for our table which only needed to be bussed and reset. I found it frustrating to have to wait for something so simple. Our server was also not as prompt as she should have been taking quite awhile to come back to introduce herself. I felt her personality was a little bit rough around the edges lacking the class that the atmosphere demands. We also found it very frustrating that there was no wifi available. Nobody could get any cell service in the building especially at the bar. Having wifi available would easily allow important messages to come through, such as a message from the babysitter. For the price point and atmosphere, I was honestly disappointed in this and would be an easy amenity to provide. read more

Experience was great, food.... Not so much. I hear people go on and on about how good the food is here. Once again, I am a little let down. I travel for a living, and get to try food all over the country, so my food snobbynesss is a bit more than most. The food is expensive, however I couldn't care less if it's good. The pork chop looked awesome, but the taste was bland. I could name a couple places off the top of my head that have a far better pork chop for half the price. Our server and the rest of the staff were perfect, so great. The food was good but I expect perfect when paying these prices. We had the Brussel sprout appetizer. It was OK but I wouldn't order it again. It had something like a parmesean aioli on them that I didnt think went well with them. I had the pork chop and it didn't have the flavor I'd expect. The sauce on top was nice but the pork itself was under seasoned. My father ordered a steak Med-rare and it was over cooked. I would have sent it back but he didn't want to bother. Stopped in for a delicious Surf and Turf Special. Ordered the Clam Chowder which was full of flavor and not too thick. Two of us ordered Sangrias; they were two completely different sizes which was odd. The dinner came and the proteins were cooked perfectly. The lobster tail was so succulent and the steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare and was so tender. The baked potato was hard on one side and perfectly soft on the other. Several of us got green beans with dinner and again the size varied; I could count mine about 10 small beans while others had heaping amounts. The interior is so cozy and warm as we sat fireside. While this place is very upscale: and priced accordingly,it lacks the finesse of 5 stars. We ordered oysters for the table but they were dry like someone had shucked them in the morning and they were dry and lacking flavor. The waiting in between was odd since there were only two others dining in. Attention to detail is lacking; we sat with empty plates on the table until our dinner was served. Quite an operation in investment into a multi-facility location with outdoor bar, sandwich shop, gift shop, coffee shop, and full service upscale restaurant. Gorgeous landscaping, waterfalls, and plentiful umbrella covered seating everywhere!! We ate in the full service upscale restaurant and it was both decorated, tableclothed and had nice wine glasses. Excellent ambiance with drinks variety and presentation. We had a spiritless sangria and it looked and tasted refreshing. The only disappointment was the chicken cutlet dinner which was actually a formed breaded cutlet that isn't high quality and was disappointed by that. Everything else was excellent. It was fired and very quick to come out. But I was pretty disappointed in the pizza. We come here a lot. At least once a week when we're in town Mar-June. We came in a little early this time and came to Orchard our first night. They have a new chef and tonight's meal was off the charts. We began with the pecan old fashioned and the vanilla fig martini. I had it with vodka instead of gin and it was perfect. Then we had an order of the arancini. Crispy outside, perfect inside. And the sauce! Omg. Even the orchard salad which we have almost every time we come, was different. Then I had the half duck, which I'd had in the past and wasn't crazy about. This was OFF THE CHARTS. Crispy skin, lots of flavor. I had it with the peach sauce that is normally served with the half chicken. Just amazing. Hubs had the scallops which we'd also had before. Excellent then, excellent this time but different. Which is the beauty of a new chef. New perspective. New ideas. Autumn our server was perfect in every way. We're here until the start of summer season and we'll be back 100 more times. Let me start by saying our server was AWESOME. We haven't been to the Orchard in some time because of several bad experiences. We were looking forward to a wonderful dinner. The food has gone downhill this past year. The evening started out with waiting almost 45 minutes for our cocktails. Because of a great review on the Lobster Roll, my son ordered. It was not a good choice and the truffle fries were cold and soggy. My wife ordered sea bass. Very bland and below average. I ordered perch, probably should have went to Jolly Roger. Perch was fried to a crisp, was tough from over cooking. I sent it back and the second plate was no better. Our daughter had the wedge salad. I will say she enjoyed her choice. As far as service, it was great. We learned that they lost half their staff to college. Totally understandable but I question the decision to hire a great band and taking reservations that fill the restaurant. Perhaps consideration should have been given that staff would be overwhelmed. I hate to leave bad reviews for restaurants, as I know the hospitality business is not easy. The Orchard property is beautiful, however they may have expanded to a point management cannot be fully involved. I also find it odd that there are so many five star reviews when I personally heard other diners complaining about their meals. They may also want to consider revamping their kitchen staff. read more

Interesting space. Restaurant feels four stars 1 a bit stuffy with white table cloths. Bar area is loud sports bar. There was an outdoor tent too. Then outdoor is fall fest with fire pits and also the way to the camp like bathroom. Parking is finding a space between the trees. I think all of the menus were the same. Cocktail list looked fab but mine was very unbalanced and VERY sweet. Menu looked delicious. I ordered the lamb belly and now I know why that's not something I see on a lot of menus. Had to swap my butter knife for a steak knife and still couldn't get cut through easily. Hubs steak was good. Kids had lobster bisque and a pasta, good. We also had the charcuterie sandwich, which had maybe 3 pieces of thin sliced deli meat that were unrecognizable. This place is very upscale with very upscale pricing, we expected way better quailty!
