This review is from a late August visit (weekday evening). After a long day on the road and getting checked in at the hotel, there wasn't a lot open that wasn't fast food. It's a sports bar. They had some nice specials for those drinking, but having to be up early the next day, that wasn't me. Good perch, good service, even close to close. Probably the outside seating is nice during the day. They have a cash discount, so bring some. read more

We were enjoying a ride on a perfect summer day along Lake Erie and decided to try find a new restaurant on the water. We decided on Cleats in Marble Head in a marina complex. It's a nice bar/ restaurant combo with nautical decoration, clean and nice views. Was very busy but we were seated quickly. The food is amazing. Everything I've ever had here has been really good. I recommend the dry rubs on the boneless wings, any of the burgers and get the fries. Service is hit or miss but I think that's more to one bartender for a bar that seats 50-60. They are always super friendly no matter how swamped they seem. read more

The service and server was outstanding. The food was not good. We (family of 4) went on a slow Sunday night and it was snowy and cold. The restaurant was clean and well staffed. Warm dining area with nice TVs to watch. The food is reasonably priced with a large menu. The best thing I can suggest to order here would is burgers, wings and fries or appetizers. Those are probably pretty straightforward. As far as entrees...just don't. The Korean rice bowl with steak was cafeteria style. Edible? Yes. Good? No. Pirogies? Interesting option but also not good at all. The great thing about this place is they have a hermit crab enclosure that's pretty stellar and the staff will tell you all about them. In the summer they do hermit crab races on Thursdays. We will be back for that and order wings. read more

Place has always been solid in the past...but they have fallen far. Buffalo Mac & Cheese Melt had no mac cheese...bread just grease- no toast at all....but edible. Burger was not edible at all. Server was nice...but bus staff just dumped food rudely. Drinks overpriced and weak. Not sure what's going on...but it will be a long time before we give them another chance. Very nice patio. Food menu is huge with lots of good choices from traditional favorites to more unique flavors. Huge wing sauce list looked great be we opted for Firecracker Quesadilla and the whitefish tacos. Both were very fresh and came quickly and hot. Four tacos were actually quite a nice serving of fresh fish with great flavor. Our server was very friendly and helpful. She got busy toward the middle and end of our meal but for double sat with and 4 and 6 person party. We waited a long time for the check but that was not her fault completely based on getting hit with 2 tables. Great views of boaters coming in off the water around dinner time. Patio was perfect with large (10-12 foot) umbrellas covering nearly the whole place. read more

My family visited around 7 pm Sunday night in late August. It took a while to be seated bc there was a line at the door. Our server walked the area checking on her other tables several times before she greeted us. She was not very patient with us and seemed annoyed at the kids. She brought our check before we could ask for dessert and again, seemed annoyed that we asked to order more food. We asked if one of the desserts was shareable and she say it would be plenty. When it came, it was not plenty for five people. It seemed like she just wanted to get us out of there. We ordered the perch sandwich, a burger, and mac and cheese for the kiddos. The food was very good, I would have no hesitation to recommend this restaurant if the service was better. As a cherry on top, when I was in the women's room I saw one of the other servers just rinse her hands and walk out of the bathroom. No soap, no towel. read more

Really fun atmosphere and nice waitstaff. The food was expensive and underwhelming. Ordered the Whistle Stop Stack and it was not good. Crispy fried green tomatoes that didn't have any flavor, really undercooked bacon, and a ciabatta roll that was so dry that it was hard to bite through. I gave up after a couple of bites. The wings were just short of undercooked. The Asian bowls had a nice assortment of vegetables but the seasoning on the rice really didn't fit with anything Asian so the bowls just didn't taste good. Overpriced mediocre food with the worst hostess I've ever seen. Waitress was nice and professional but I ordered a walleye sandwich and it came out with lettuce that was literally caked in mud. They didn't even offer to comp it, just remade the sandwich. Potato skins were microwave quality. There was a reason basically every other restaurant in the area had a wait except Cleats. They include an automatic 2% fee for credit card charges as well. Won't be returning. read more

We ordered take out and the food order was messed up. We called to tell them and they made it seem like it was our fault. We got burgers with no cheese no lettuce no tomato and no onion plain burgers! The salads had lettuce that tasted like dirt and wilted. On trip for Dad's 80th Birthday, 4 of us total, we're NEVER greeted or seated. After waiting about 10 and never being acknowledged, we left. 2nd visit to Cleats and it will be my last. We were in Toledo and decided to drive here to eat. We wanted patio but unfortunately it was raining just as we arrived. We used the call ahead feature on the website so got right in. The temperature indoors was VERY cold and we were chilly the entire time (even with a sweatshirt). Most everything was ok until we were done and ready for our check and a box for leftovers. And we waited. And waited. Our waitress knew we were done and was to get a box and check, but for well over 10 minutes and approached 15 min we watched her take other orders, bring out drinks and never looked over to see about us. She took another check from a table and I could see her go computer to ring him out. We were anxious to leave having an hour drive home yet. We finally got her attention, and our waitress gave us an excuse rather than an apology and became snippy with us then left to get our final check. I waited at the table and my wife went to see the manager after she barked at us. I finally got the bill, and it was $50 higher than should be. So now after waiting 15 min, we still can't leave due to this. I got up and went up front were my wife was talking to the manager. They came over and I showed her the issue and the waitress was there too and was completely stressed out. She blamed us in front of the manager that we were rushing her therefore rang out the wrong table. The check was $42 she brought to the table but when she returned she had the same $42 check, my credit card and the receipt to sign for $92. Obviously she never looked at it. By now we are feed up. The manager made excuses about the waitress. (Very in appropriate). She should have apologized and just made it right. I never look for discounts, but in this case something should have been offered for our now 25 min after eating and all the hassle. NOPE. The manager just corrected the check for $42. I dine out often and understand restaurants are under staffed, but never a reason to engage this way with customers. On an another note, we also saw the bus boy cleaning tables knock the salt pepper shaker on the floor underneath the table beside us. He just picked it up and back on the table with out an attempt to wipe them off. Won't be back with so many options. read more

A obvious popular hang out this restaurant was full of patrons during the middle of a Sunday afternoon. a local NFL team was playing which clikd account for a full bar and dining area as it did clear out considerably after the game was over. There are several seating areas. The bar side is full of many high top tables as well as bar seating. TV's are plentiful in all locations. Outdoor seating is present and overlooks a beautiful marina. it was not open on my visit. Food choices are plentiful from ribs. pasta, seafood, and burgers. Everything was good and portions were the same. Service was on the slow side, but she was busy. Definitely worth a visit. read more

The nachos were just how I remembered them! I haven't been to a cleats in years and it was nice going back. Growing up there were several Cleats locations around us and since then a few have closed down unfortunately. Also had the walleye dinner which was was fantastic.
