We arrived on Saturday night about 6:30 and were able to get seated immediately on the patio, although there was a wait for inside tables due to the heat. The waitress didn't tell us until after we tried to order, but they were out of rice(!) and their oven was down, so they couldn't do anything baked. Since that cut out many items on the menu it would've been nice to know when we were seated. I then chose a walleye sandwich with fries and a salad. My wife ordered a salad as an entree. When the runner brought my salad, she told me they were out of the dressing I ordered, and that my waitress knew it and should've told me when I ordered. When our dinners came out they were nice. The fries were good and crunchy. The patio is big with a great view of the marina. I guess our waitress just wasn't on top of her game. Stopped here after our weekend in Put in Bay. Food was typical bar food. We ordered the jalapeño dip and it was very average. We ordered it as an appetizer and it took a very long time to receive. After expressing concern that it was going to come out with our meals, our waitress told us she has "no control over the kitchen." She came back about 10 minutes later and said the kitchen staff "bit her head off" when she told them we didn't want it coming out with our meal. Oh and that "we'd probably get it for free now." This was said in a very annoying tone towards Us - as if it was our fault. In the end - we didn't get comp'ed for it. Waitress just seemed bitter and annoyed with us until about the last ten minutes of our visit. Food was good - bar food. Beer cheese soup was not good to me - sooo cheesy. I actually tested the queso dip my niece received with her pretzels to see if it was the same thing. Rest of family was pleased with meal. We went to Cleats two days in a row for lunch. First day we ordered fisherman's platter which was excellent. Second day we ordered steak fajita pizza. It was awful! There wasn't any cheese in it and the crust was like a big crouton. Steak was baby morsels hardly on the pizza. Would definitely stay way fro ordering this again. So I rate it 3 bars. Had stopped visiting Cleats about 6 months because of the food quality. Decided to give it another try. Ordered slab of ribs and was served 1/2 slab, served cold, not even warm. Sent back and made it a point to cut into the rib just to see if they were reheating. As expected, it was definitely put into the microwave to heat. Ribs were now hot but very dry. They brought another 1/2 slab about 15 minutes later. Kettle chips are usually warm and they were cold as well. Dining partner ordered the perch - warm at best and VERY dry. Overcooked at best. Hubby ordered chicken wings, they were okay, but at least they were hot. Used to love coming here - now very disappointed with the service and especially the quality of the food. read more

July 6th visit at approx. 9PM, post a summer ball game. Horrible! Be VERY carful. Raw shrimp and two raw fish dinners were sent to the table. 1 of the 5 at the table ate dinner. The other 4 were unable to eat due to the raw, undercooked food that will make an individual sick. This can make someone VERY ill and dehydrated. No apologies from the establishment. They still brought the bill, and of course we paid it, but they should be ashamed of the food that was delivered to the table. From a Food Safety view, this leaves me with serious concerns as imagine the cross contamination taking place in their kitchen area. read more

We had a group of 10 but it wasn't very busy at all. I am very patient when it comes to service but we didn't get our drinks for over 20 minutes, our food came out kind of quickly, well parts of it. Our server was kind even though we didn't see her much. The food runner girl with blonde hair was rude and literally stood there with my food and had my walk over to her to get it, when there was a clear path from me to her. She wouldn't place anyone's food in front of them, she just reached across and held it out for you to grab. My steak salad was not very good, the steak was well done and chewy. Hostesses where really nice 25 minute wait on a Saturday night not to bad of a wait we sat outside which was very nice with the nice weather, they need to clean the dead may flies off the windows a broom would take care of that for ya, took a minute to get our drinks and appetizer as well as our entrees but all the food we ordered was hot and just how we ordered will definitely go back next time we visit to try something new. Memorial weekend. Crowds from Walleye festival and bike week at every restaurant so we decided to stop here. Sat out on patio and listened to a fabulous and soothing live band. Had the clam basket for an app and it was amazing! Hot and cooked perfectly. Our dinners we chose was the cheeseburger sliders and fisherman's platter. Can I just say that we were very happy with our choices! Prices were good and the meal was fabulous. Gave our experience a 4 because the service was terribly slow. I am not one to rate a place so negatively. If I could, I would have left no stars! First, we stood at the reception area for almost 10 minutes before my husband went to find someone (we should have left then!). We were seated and drink orders taken. Our waitress, Amanda, was quick to deliver. However, it ended there. My husband ordered another beer, which took FOREVER. 45 minutes later we received our order. A hamburger and a salad (because you know, it 'takes forever to cook a 1/4lb burger!!)! When she came to clean a table next to us, I asked for a box for my salad. She never came back, so I went in search of it myself! When she finally came back, she asked who brought it. I told her I got it myself, since we were in a hurry after an hour and a half!! My wife and I have been here twice now and the first time I figured it was expensive because it was dinner for 4. This time, it was my wife and I only and we had an appetizer, 3 beers, 14 wings with sweet potato fries, a burger with regular fries and a kids meal of macaroni & cheese with applesauce and chocolate milk. The bill was nearly $55, which seems a little elevated for bar food. If I'm going to spend that type of money, I'll probably go elsewhere. The food tasted great, but I don't think it was that great. Lobster Mac and Cheese This was so delicious. The dish was plated very appealing, and tasted even better. The Panko breadcrumbs added a great touch to the dish. One of the faults to this dish were the amount of onions in the Mac and cheese. Almost every bite tasted like I was eating onion with a side of cheese. Where do I start... I feel like I lost years of my life by stopping in at this place. First off, walking in, the one hostesses was a little bit snappy and instantly put an unwelcoming feeling on us. I'm not even sure if our waitress worked at this establishment,(I say this tongue and cheek) you would see her once about every 15 minutes. We ordered... After about 30 minutes food began to trickle out. My sister in law had to send her sandwich back on account of "miscommunication" with the waitress. Brother in law Didn't have mayo for his burger. My wife didn't have any tartar sauce for her fish sandwich. These were all thing that had been asked for. It ended up being me who sat there there for the next 30 minutes waiting on my food. I believe our waitress was seen once in that 30-35 minutes. After I finally received my food (about ten minutes after everyone else I was with had finished their meals) my appetite had pretty much abandoned me on account of all the emotions flowing through me at this point. I right away asked to speak with a manager. A few minutes later a lady came out and began going around to tables and making small talk with people. I realized this must be the manager, she showed up at our table and was planning on just moving on after taking some of our dirty dishes when I asked if she was the manager. She said "yes". This was a total opportunity for redemption on part of the restaurant for me. I expressed how I felt that I should not be expected to pay for my meal after the poor service. A few words into our conversation I realized that I might as well have been talking to a fence post. I don't know at what point of our conversation I convinced her of nullifying my bill of my meal, but it was like pulling teeth. Like teeth from a 78 year old abominable snowman that hadn't eaten for a month. After another 30 minutes we were finally on our way out of this disaster. Please! Do yourself a favor and do not go here. We've been a lot of different places, and go out to eat quite often, but hands down have never had a worse experience. Every single bit of it was delicious and there was soooo much that I focused on my battered fish perfectly cooked without a bit of grease to deal with so after trying each item, I let my hubby enjoy it all with his order of a delicious lobster roll and again HUGE THANKS CLEATS for not being stingy bec that lobster roll had CHUNKS BIG CHUNKS! of lobster that shocked and wowed us :-) Hubby also upgraded to onion rings. I think some of the negative reviews got it wrong. Ous R visit tonight with family turned out excellent. Although Friday night at 6 pm meant a heavy crowd, our server was with us in just minutes after we were seated, distributed menus, and took our beverage orders. Our beverages arrived quickly (great beer selection BTW) and our meals soon after. Our food was delicious (yay for the fish tacos) and the server took care of our special requests promptly. Just left Cleats after grabbing lunch. We have our two dogs with us for the weekend and wanted a place they could join us on the patio. After reading some reviews, this seemed like a great option. Came here on a Saturday night and it was super busy. Sat at the bar for awhile and got some drinks. This is the type of place where middle-aged people go to act like college kids again. They sell buckets of beer and the place is loud and busy. If it's nice outside, I'd recommend it, as it's probably quieter. You're not going to get top-notch service or selection here, but if you're thirsty and hungry, it will do. They make the potato chips and fries in-house and those are rather tasty, albeit greasy. I settled on fish tacos, as it's one of the few non-fried items on the menu. They had just the right amount of kick to them.
