Awesome food with the Best staff. I'm on a walker temporarily and the staff helped get us get seated and moved my walker out of the way. They were on top of any needs and the food was delicious. I got the Tangy Carolina chicken sandwich with coleslaw on a pretzel bun and I'm not a fan of mustard but thought I'd go outside the box and boy was it amazing. 2nd visit to Cleats and it will be my last! We were in Toledo and decided to drive here to eat. We wanted patio but unfortunately it was raining just as we arrived. We used the call ahead feature on the website so got right in. The temperature indoors was VERY cold and we were chilly the entire time (even with a sweatshirt). Saw others that were cold also. Most everything was ok until we were done and ready for our check and a box for leftovers. And we waited. And waited. Our waitress knew we were done and was to get a box and check, but for well over 10 minutes and approached 15 min we watched her take other orders, bring out drinks and never looked over to see about us. She took another check from a table and I could see her go computer to ring him out. After waiting for her for about 15 minutes, We were anxious to leave having an hour drive home yet. We finally got her attention, and our waitress gave us an excuse rather than an apology and became snippy with us then left to get our final check. I waited at the table and my wife went to see the manager after she barked at us. I finally got the bill, and it was $50 higher than should be. So now after waiting 15 min, we still can't leave due to this. I got up and went up front were my wife was talking to the manager. They came over and I showed her the issue and the waitress was there too and was completely stressed out. She blamed us in front of the manager, and other employees, that we were rushing her therefore rang out the wrong table. The check was $47 she brought to the table but when she returned she had the same $47 check, my credit card and the receipt to sign for $92. Obviously she never looked at it. By now we are feed up. The manager made excuses about the waitress. (Very in appropriate). She should have apologized and just made it right. I never look for discounts, but in this case something should have been offered for our now 25 min after eating and all the hassle. NOPE. The manager just corrected the check for $47 and kept making excuses about computers. I dine out often and understand restaurants are under staffed, but never a reason to engage this way with customers. On an another note, we also saw the bus boy cleaning tables knock the salt pepper shaker on the floor underneath the table beside us. He just picked it up and put it back on the table with out an attempt to wipe them off. Plus, he looked VERY young. Won't be back with so many options read more

Okay so i goes here on a saturday night, not too busy but still relatively busy. We sits down for 1 hour+ before getting the food. Food was subpar at best. Ordered 6 count chicken wing but only received 5 of them and them wings tasted great but they was messy and I didn't have any utensils to clean up my messy hands. DO NOT ORDER THE FISH TACOS. They was not great. Baja bowl was fine but overpriced and too much rice. Not a great value. Overall, this is a foul establishment and I don't know how it survives. I will say however that this establishment is great in terms of the foul food it provides -- perhaps you get yourself a buffalo bacon macs and cheese chicken sandwich, or a foul burger for example. Family of four visit -- we came with the in-laws. We did the ole order a bunch of items and everyone eat what they want. Here is what we ordered: Drinks: no sharing:) - Pina Colada. Good but really thick. Might need a spoon. Those awful paper straws won't cut it. - Mermaid Water (Captn + curaçao) These were really good. A little sweet, but smooth. This was my order and I would order again. - 2x beer on tap. Typical draft Miller lite. Cold in tall glasses. Appetizers: (they each have special menu names I can't remember) - Seafood Quesadilla - Beer cheese Pretzel personally, I only tried this appetizer. Everyone liked both. The beer cheese was amazing. We could have gotten bacon ranch and mustard dips also they serve with all three. We asked for all cheese to be brought, and glad we did. The pretzel was huge the size of a 12" diameter plate. It was soft and slightly crispy and subtly salty. Y Entrees: - lake monster pizza - Reuben and fries - perch sandwich and fries - 12 chicken wings (medium sauce with blue cheese I ordered the perch because I wasn't splitting the entrees like the rest of the group. Sadly, my dinner was the worst thing of all items on the table. My father in law raved about how he would be back for wing night. Everyone loved the pizza and the Reuben. My personal favorite of the night was actually the fries. Do not order the perch. It was pricey. And overcooked. This was the only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars. I was thankful the server recommended the sandwich over the meal. It cost less and I got less perch. I wasn't going to eat the bun anyway--but the sandwich was just bad bar food. So thin it was cooked to the point it was chewy. Our server was awesome. She came to the table often enough to be very helpful but not intrusive. She recommended great drinks. She didn't mind when we asked for non paper straws for some that didn't work well with them. The place was a bit noisy, but it's a bar/touristy type environment so that was to be expected. I would say it's more likely to be fun for a group outing or family gathering than a romantic dinner, unless you plan ahead and ask for outside seating. We will be back for sure. We arrived on Saturday night about 6:30 and were able to get seated immediately on the patio, although there was a wait for inside tables due to the heat. The waitress didn't tell us until after we tried to order, but they were out of rice(!) and their oven was down, so they couldn't do anything baked. Since that cut out many items on the menu it would've been nice to know when we were seated. I then chose a walleye sandwich with fries and a salad. My wife ordered a salad as an entree. When the runner brought my salad, she told me they were out of the dressing I ordered, and that my waitress knew it and should've told me when I ordered. When our dinners came out they were nice. The fries were good and crunchy. The patio is big with a great view of the marina. I guess our waitress just wasn't on top of her game. Stopped here after our weekend in Put in Bay. Food was typical bar food. We ordered the jalapeño dip and it was very average. We ordered it as an appetizer and it took a very long time to receive. After expressing concern that it was going to come out with our meals, our waitress told us she has "no control over the kitchen." She came back about 10 minutes later and said the kitchen staff "bit her head off" when she told them we didn't want it coming out with our meal. Oh and that "we'd probably get it for free now." This was said in a very annoying tone towards Us - as if it was our fault. In the end - we didn't get comp'ed for it. Waitress just seemed bitter and annoyed with us until about the last ten minutes of our visit. Food was good - bar food. Beer cheese soup was not good to me - sooo cheesy. I actually tested the queso dip my niece received with her pretzels to see if it was the same thing. Rest of family was pleased with meal. We went to Cleats two days in a row for lunch. First day we ordered fisherman's platter which was excellent. Second day we ordered steak fajita pizza. It was awful! There wasn't any cheese in it and the crust was like a big crouton. Steak was baby morsels hardly on the pizza. Would definitely stay way fro ordering this again. So I rate it 3 bars. Had stopped visiting Cleats about 6 months because of the food quality. Decided to give it another try. Ordered slab of ribs and was served 1/2 slab, served cold, not even warm. Sent back and made it a point to cut into the rib just to see if they were reheating. As expected, it was definitely put into the microwave to heat. Ribs were now hot but very dry. They brought another 1/2 slab about 15 minutes later. Kettle chips are usually warm and they were cold as well. Dining partner ordered the perch - warm at best and VERY dry. Overcooked at best. Hubby ordered chicken wings, they were okay, but at least they were hot. Used to love coming here - now very disappointed with the service and especially the quality of the food. read more

July 6th visit at approx. 9PM, post a summer ball game. Horrible! Be VERY carful. Raw shrimp and two raw fish dinners were sent to the table. 1 of the 5 at the table ate dinner. The other 4 were unable to eat due to the raw, undercooked food that will make an individual sick. This can make someone VERY ill and dehydrated. No apologies from the establishment. They still brought the bill, and of course we paid it, but they should be ashamed of the food that was delivered to the table. From a Food Safety view, this leaves me with serious concerns as imagine the cross contamination taking place in their kitchen area. read more

We had a group of 10 but it wasn't very busy at all. I am very patient when it comes to service but we didn't get our drinks for over 20 minutes, our food came out kind of quickly, well parts of it. Our server was kind even though we didn't see her much. The food runner girl with blonde hair was rude and literally stood there with my food and had my walk over to her to get it, when there was a clear path from me to her. She wouldn't place anyone's food in front of them, she just reached across and held it out for you to grab. My steak salad was not very good, the steak was well done and chewy. The buffalo cauliflower appetizer was really good though. The outside seating was really nice and the mixed drinks we good as well. Hostesses where really nice 25 minute wait on a Saturday night not to bad of a wait we sat outside which was very nice with the nice weather, they need to clean the dead may flies off the windows a broom would take care of that for ya, took a minute to get our drinks and appetizer as well as our entrees but all the food we ordered was hot and just how we ordered will definitely go back next time we visit to try something new. Where do I start... I feel like I lost years of my life by stopping in at this place. First off, walking in, the one hostesses was a little bit snappy and instantly put an unwelcoming feeling on us. We had a group of 10, and had called ahead for reservations but those were pretty much worthless. Getting to he experience after being seated. All the small things that makeup a pleasant dining experience were non existent. I'm not even sure if our waitress worked at this establishment,(I say this tongue and cheek) you would see her once about every 15 minutes. We ordered... After about 30 minutes food began to trickle out. My sister in law had to send her sandwich back on account of "miscommunication" with the waitress. Brother in law Didn't have mayo for his burger. My wife didn't have any tartar sauce for her fish sandwich. These were all thing that had been asked for. It ended up being me who sat there there for the next 30 minutes waiting on my food. I believe our waitress was seen once in that 30-35 minutes. After I finally received my food (about ten minutes after everyone else I was with had finished their meals) my appetite had pretty much abandoned me on account of all the emotions flowing through me at this point. I right away asked to speak with a manager. A few minutes later a lady came out and began going around to tables and making small talk with people. I realized this must be the manager, she showed up at our table and was planning on just moving on after taking some of our dirty dishes when I asked if she was the manager. She said "yes". This was a total opportunity for redemption on part of the restaurant for me. I expressed how I felt that I should not be expected to pay for my meal after the poor service. A few words into our conversation I realized that I might as well have been talking to a fence post. I don't know at what point of our conversation I convinced her of nullifying my bill of my meal, but it was like pulling teeth. Like teeth from a 78 year old abominable snowman that hadn't eaten for a month. After another 30 minutes we were finally on our way out of this disaster. Please! Do yourself a favor and do not go here. We've been a lot of different places, and go out to eat quite often, but hands down have never had a worse experience. Lobster Mac and Cheese This was so delicious. The dish was plated very appealing, and tasted even better. The Panko breadcrumbs added a great touch to the dish. One of the faults to this dish were the amount of onions in the Mac and cheese. Almost every bite tasted like I was eating onion with a side of cheese. Would suggest asking for not as much or removing them all together. Wait staff was very nice and professional, no complaints here. read more

Memorial weekend. Crowds from Walleye festival and bike week at every restaurant so we decided to stop here. Sat out on patio and listened to a fabulous and soothing live band. Had the clam basket for an app and it was amazing! Hot and cooked perfectly. Our dinners we chose was the cheeseburger sliders and fisherman's platter. Can I just say that we were very happy with our choices! Prices were good and the meal was fabulous. Gave our experience a 4 because the service was terribly slow. My wife and I have been here twice now and the first time I figured it was expensive because it was dinner for 4. This time, it was my wife and I only and we had an appetizer, 3 beers, 14 wings with sweet potato fries, a burger with regular fries and a kids meal of macaroni & cheese with applesauce and chocolate milk. The bill was nearly $55, which seems a little elevated for bar food. If I'm going to spend that type of money, I'll probably go elsewhere. The food tasted great, but I don't think it was that great. If you want to spend that much, I'd go to a seafood spot. Probably won't head back unless we have to. read more

I think some of the negative reviews got it wrong. Ous R visit tonight with family turned out excellent. Although Friday night at 6 pm meant a heavy crowd, our server was with us in just minutes after we were seated, distributed menus, and took our beverage orders. Our beverages arrived quickly (great beer selection BTW) and our meals soon after. Our food was delicious (yay for the fish tacos) and the server took care of our special requests promptly.
