If she had been working for me that would have been her last day. We ended up getting seated; in what I'll call the "new section" . Music was way to loud. Couldn't hardly carry on a conversation. Perch was good. Onion rings were good. Ordered coleslaw instead of pasta salad. Got pasta salad anyway; which was too salty to eat. Have gone here occasionally over the years. Always very loud, very crowded, and chaotic. If you're looking to gamble and have activities for the kids (bowling, electronic games, etc.) this is an okay place. Always very slow bringing out the food, just the usual burgers and fried sides, nothing special. An unfortunate young man with some behaviors was watching/betting on the horse races standing at the bar, walking back and forth and making a lot of noise while sucking on a dirty cloth rag which was really gross. We're staying at the Holiday next door and came in for a late dinner after a fun-filled day at Cedar Point so pretty hungry and super thirsty. We didn't get any menus when first sat down so our server was scrambling a bit since the host kind of left us hanging. Our server was really great at keeping our cups full and putting in our order quickly. The food came out pretty fast which was really surprising but tasted pretty subpar. You really should come here for the vibes which were fun and lively! There's also a bowling alley, axe throwing, laser tag, at least 3 different sports bars/betting, arcade, AND a food truck outside with yard games. I ordered the cluck cluck burger which has bacon and an egg. The burger patty was pretty dry but it was saved by the egg. It comes on a pretzel bun which I loved! My nephew ordered a ton of apps instead of an entree and got the giant pretzel (cheese came out pretty dry with a hard top), onion rings, and the cheesesteak fries. He liked the fries the best, onion rings were good, but the pretzel was cold. My husband got chicken wings naked with three or so sauces on the side which weren't very good so I'd suggest getting them normally breaded. Got my order wrong, burger tasted like the hadn't cleaned the grill in days. Only decent thing was the fries and even they were mid. Hostess had a "legalize marijuana" shirt on, which makes sense because the food tasted like all the cooks were high. Wayyy to overpriced for mid food and an altogether dingy atmosphere. So loud between screens showing events no one cared about and various gambling machines and kids running unsupervised while waiting for close to an hour for a table and looking directly at empty tables I wished Tommy Callahan took the brake pad division to the other side of Lake Erie. Being this place is right at the entrance to the Cedar Point causeway, you can imagine that it gets busy. I came on a Friday around 2:45 pm. I ordered the bourbon burger and fries. The food took approximately 15 min. That seemed to me quiet fast considering how busy they were. Now the downside, if you are looking for a relaxing environment this is not for you. Being multiple baseball teams it was noisy to say the least with each table trying to over talk the next. This is in no way a strike against this business. Just merely a heads up to a potential customer that it gets loud. Summary = food was good and the burger was a hand patty with fresh toppings. The service was polite and attentive. The environment is busy and with plenty of entertainment from betting on horses to corn hole to a large connect 4. Bring the family and friends and enjoy yourself. read more

Everything tasted like it came from the same deep fryer--seriously, it was like the entire menu was just one giant vat of frying oil. I was not a fan. Our waitress started off slow, and then it got worse. We sat around for 25 minutes just waiting for her to check on us or even ask if we wanted the check. By that point, we had already spent an hour and a half in this culinary time warp. I finally had to get up and hunt down the waitress just to get the bill! It seemed like there were only two waitresses trying to juggle 30 tables, which explained the snail-paced service. They were out of a few Oktoberfest items, which was a bummer, but we made do. The mozzarella sticks came with cold marinara--like, who thought that was a good idea? I've never seen that before in my life! The bang bang shrimp had some shell fragments in it, which was a real letdown. Oh, and they were also out of spinach and artichoke dip, so we had to skip that too. The place felt more like a bar with a menu that was all over the place. You could buy novelty shirts, play games, and even bet on sports, which is kind of random for a dining experience. Shocked by our experience in this restaurant today. Got the apps in 20 mins, and then waited a good hour patiently for the entrees which did not arrive. The waitress never bothered to check or stop by our table once, and when I finally asked for her came by in a few mins with the food - absolutely unapologetic and was rude. Visiting Cedar Point so this establishment was recommended by the hotel staff where I was staying. Great, because it was within walking distance. Came here 3 times, only 1/3 times received friendly and nice service. Was a bartender on the younger side, blonde I think her name was Ashley? I apologize if I got it wrong. Other 2 times, grumpy older women who didn't smile, return your hello, and just looked like they hated life and didn't want to be there. Ordering from those 2 took forever as I just sat waiting to order while they socialized with apparent regulars or friends. Beer was good, but way over priced (paying $11-12 for a seasonal brew is asinine!) Food was decent, nothing to write home about except for the ribs which were great. All in all, would not recommend this place unless you want over priced beer and old grumpy middle aged women scowling at you your entire time there. read more

Atmosphere was fun, the kids had a good time and the grown ups the same. Service was a bit slow but not too bad. When it comes to the food: Do NOT order the pizza. It was bad, which is pretty crazy because it's hard to mess up pizza... but they did. It had a plastic taste. None of the kids liked it and the adults confirmed. Even though the price was right, the taste was horribly wrong. The sides of corn on the cob that came with our sandwiches were also pretty sub-par. The corn had that textured like it'd been boiling for far too long. It was more like mush on the cob. As for everything else - chicken sandwiches, smash burgers, philly cheese steak, mac and cheese - these were all good and everyone enjoyed them. As one of the few local places open on July 4, things were super busy. Everyone was having a great time and they seated our party of two within 10 minutes of arriving without a reservation or call-ahead. The food was really delicious and serving sizes were generous. I visited in the winter before and found the summer vibe much more enjoyable. The two things that kept it at were the menu prices and an appetizer that came after the meals. Sweet potato fries were cold we sent them back and they came back soon but you know they just re-dipped them in the hot oil... Slaw was just like wet cabbage no flavor and couldn't eat it.. Love the Thirsty Pony! My husband and I like to go at least once when we are in Sandusky, if not twice! The kick'in chicken dip (buffalo chicken dip) is delicious!!! Never disappoints! Their Philly cheesesteak fries are also incredible! I also recommend their chicken, it is super crispy! Their Cajun dry rub and garlic Parmesan are tasty. They taste like they are made in house but I am not sure. Their cocktails are always good and strong! The service is always good and they are quick to help out! The environment is so fun and their are televisions everywhere! You can watch horse races and sports. You also can bet on horse races! On Saturday we called to place a carry out order and I was told that they dont do carry out from 6-9 then was hung up on! Unless you want to go into Sandusky there really isnt much to choose from close to Cedar Point. Such a shame becuase with the right staff this place could be a gold mine. read more

I was shocked at how high the prices were. 20 bucks and you got like a 9 inch pizza.. Some of it they give you big potions but they didn't taste all that great. Went here for lunch on Saturday June 21,2025 with a group of 30 plus as a little league tournament was going on this weekend. We were basically told they didn't want to do our order because they were short staffed with 2 waitress's .The waitress's and manager were rude and really seemed not to care, so we left and went to Old Dutch Tavern and were welcomed with open arms. They only had 2 waitress's but they Got "R" Done and were rewarded handsomely. This place is so much fun with great staff and a fun decor. The food is absolutely delicious bar food and they offer some healthy options as well but we didn't come there for healthy options that night! My one friend is a vegetarian and loved the fried pickles and some other appetizers. I have to admit that they were some of the best fried pickles ever and their onion rings rock! My other friend ordered the Philly cheese steak fries and if I go there again (I live an hour away and was visiting cedar point) I would totally order them. The portions are generous. I had high hopes for the Thirsty Pony, but unfortunately the food missed the mark for the most part. This rating is solely based on our food experience. Here is what my family of 4 had: - cheese stick stack appetizer (good) - southwest egg roll appetizer (good) - sauerkraut balls appetizer (it was like a Reuben ball with sausage in it instead of corned beef. It was just alright) - Buffalo chicken dip (didn't care for this. Was too sweet and tasted weird) - I had the mango jalapeño wings. (These were delicious but quite spicy. Definitely made me tear up a little) - lobster bisque in a bread bowl (this was my least favorite thing out of the whole meal. It was this fake orange color and just did not taste good.) - my husband and stepsons all had different burgers and none of them cared for them I do like the feel of the bar and I'm sure it is a great place to go to drink, bet on horse races through their simulcast area, and/or play lottery. This was the closest restaurant to Cedar Point. Obviously we were exhausted, it was hotter than hell out in the sun all day waiting hours in line for everything, the kids were very agitated, and we were all starving! The service was good considering they were extremely busy. Every table was seated but the wait staff did an excellent job getting our order, drinks, food, and bill to us quickly. We were also seated within 5-10 mins. I must say, the staff was AWESOME. For being a little short staffed, they worked as a team efficiently to take care of all the customers not just their own. We ordered wings that were excellent. (SO HOT FRESH AND DELICIOUS!!) They were exactly like Hooters wings back in the day. (The whole vibe actuality mirrors Hooters minus the ratchet girls showing their goods. I'm not trying to see all that with my kids when I'm eating but love the food.) Fried pickles were good, too.
