Made my list of top 10 worst restaurants. Drinks are awful, food was awful. Making a martini in a metal martini glass is a clear sign of someone have no idea how to make a proper cocktail. Ruined the cocktail for a neat look.Meatal is a good conductor, just about the worst way to serve a drink that is served up. Maybe that's why they left some ice cubes in it. My Old Fashioned was sickly sweet, one of the rare occasions I sent something back. Food was downhill from there. Crispy pork belly. Under seasoned, not crispy, chewy, and I kid you not dusted in cinnamon sugar. Asked the server if the menu listed cinnamon sugar and she said it did.....it doesn't. Not a good flavor combo. $75 of mostly uneaten food and drink in the trash Restaurant was also very loud. Not really anything good I can recommend about this place. read more

Really not a great experience at all..we were waiting for quite a long while after checking in with the host, and I think they forgot about us, because after checking in again after standing for 30 or so minutes they had seats open.. We waited probably 50 minutes for our food (all pretty simple stuff, sandwiches), which I would forgive if it was tastier !! They definitely should have toasted the bun and made the Mac and cheese not watery .. I get that the waiter was probably super busy but the establishment could've set expectations better. The waiter didn't apologize for the delay, and initially when we walked up the hostess said it would be "just a few moments!" One redeeming quality is that although busy, the ambience was lively especially with the live music. read more

I go here everytime I'm in the area. The staff is always friendly and attentive. They have a nice patio area when the weather is warm and sometimes there is a band. It's relatively large and there is also a nice bar area you can sit at inside. There menu has a good selection. I got the pulled pork, which I thought was very good. It wasn't dry. Great vibes We went on a Friday evening in the winter and had a large group. The place was busy but we were able to get a table. They had live music. On a recent trip with my sisters, I suggested this place since I had been there before. There was live music (Island Boys) and the band had quite a following! They were very good! I'm a fanatic about French onion soup. So, naturally, I ordered some along with a side Betty's salad. I can honestly say I've never had French onion soup that didn't have onions, didn't taste like French onion soup, and had beans in it. I followed that up with bread pudding that was tasty, but lacked creaminess. No egg taste at all. My wife, our friends, and I like the atmosphere of the restaurant. But...the disappointment of being served something so foreign when I was expecting French onion soup will keep us away. read more

We so want this restaurant and bar to THRIVE. We are regulars for Many Years. We eat out so much we often joke we should be Critics. The atmosphere is Great. Love the new bar... irritating how jammed in the chairs are. We know think the food is finally consistent and for the most part delicious. We know it's difficult in this area to retain good help as it is seasonal. It's time for Management to remind the staff that Folks like us come out to Relax and their primary focus is to make sure they care for customers and that they have an A-1 experience. Jimmie at the Bar GETS this but he needs some better Motivated Coworkers to carry their Load. I don't want to hear how Tired you are or if you have a Hangover. We worked like DOGS in public service Jobs earning to retire in an expensive Economy. We are willing to pay it forward but You Should Earn it too. There have been times when staff is standing around and there are 15 empty glasses in front of people. We love the cold draft beer, we want Meoimi Wine back (not what someone thinks we should be ordering) , smiling faces and Attentive Service. We want to be able to take our friends here and not be disappointed and embarrassed. We love it when independent restaurants succeed. read more

My wife and I stopped in last night as we're staying at the East Harbor State Park and it was too darn hot to cook! Relatively close a mile or so down the road. The adult beverages were delicious! A painkiller just like I would make it at home! My wife also enjoyed one of their signature martinis. We opened with the loaded tots and smoked eggs. Loaded tots were absolutely delicious and the smoked eggs were, unique and tasty but way much as I could not finish them and my wife does not eat hard boiled eggs. It seems we waited a while for our pizza, but it was worth the wait! Lots of locals frequent the area. There was an outdoor cornhole tournament going on with plenty of outdoor seating as well. I do like the fact that they had a TouchTunes jukebox! More than likely will be back again before we leave the area. read more

I tried to select zero stars and it wouldn't let me. We came here for their valentines dinner that we reserved a table at and sat at our table for 3.5 hours without any food coming out. When some of our party's food started coming out, 5/8 of people who ordered a prime rib were told they were out (3 hours after ordering) and had to pick a new entree. Our waitress tried her best and it wasn't her fault but whoever makes the schedule and decisions around here needs to look themselves in the mirror. Myself or anyone I know will never step foot in this parking lot again, and I recommend you do the same! read more

We really like this place, and the new renovations are great. Jimmy, the bartender, is super friendly and takes good care of you. Best for me? They have a dedicated gluten-free fryer! The whole gluten thing is an eyeroll for most people, but if it makes you sick, it isn't a joke. In any case -- they have delicious brisket; a homemade sausage that is killer, and their tater tots are awesome - again, I can have them due to the gluten free fryer! I love the sausage appetizer -- super tasty. My husband had a burger, which was huge, and full of "grilled" flavor. Once the weather warms up, and the garage doors around the bar can be opened, and patio used? Just a little heaven in our little town. read more

This was a fun bar/restaurant. Full restaurant plus bar area (with live music), outdoor seating and an outdoor bar. Clearly the most happening place around (restaurant next door was not open). We found seats at the bar, listened to the (loud) live music for an hour and then got a table for dinner. Food was fine, I enjoyed the smoked chicken wings. Hubs did NOT enjoy the daylong smoked chicken (not tender). Kids liked theirs. Fully recommend, fun place, and fine food for area. read more

Really puzzled about the low ratings on this place. Coming in for lunch on the weekend, we expected the worst, but the location was hard to beat so we checked it out anyway. Our server apologized up front for any delays in service as they were running short staffed, but to our surprise, the service for our whole visit was prompt, friendly and helpful. The food was much better than expected. The cheese curds were fresh and fried just right and a delicious appetizer for the Walleye sandwich which was outstanding. Portions were very generous and the prices were a pleasant surprise. Dining with 3 other friends, we were all happy with our visit, the food and the service. Give this spot a try! read more

Crow's Nest came up in conversation as where to go for dinner for a small family gathering. I previously lived in Marblehead for a couple years and had never heard of this establishment before. I checked in with a co-worker who is a long-time resident of the area and she had been here several years ago and said from she recalled, the food was good. We arrived at 5:30ish and we were seated right away. There were a few other tables filled but it did not seem to have been packed. It took some time before our server stopped by our table. We immediately placed our order which included a couple appetizers for the 5 of us. The apps took a while (spinach artichoke dip and sauerkraut balls). A few more tables were seated, but again, it did not seem as if the restaurant was crowded in the least. It seemed like it took forever and a day before our dinner was brought to the table (it was over an hour). 3 ot of 5 of us ordered the jumbo lump crab cakes served over crispy spinach and maybe that is what took so long as tables seated after us were getting their food before we were served. Maybe our server forgot to put our order in - who knows? My meal was somewhat disappointing as the crab cakes were rather small compared to the pic in the menu and they were lukewarm at best. Overall, this seems like a decent establishment located close to the water in Marblehead. Not sure if they are shorthanded or our server forgot to place our order in a timely manner, but waiting over an hour for our meals is a bit much. Prices were not exorbitant, but for my meal it seemed a bit excessive. It was also quite loud making it challenging to hear conversation within our group. Overall, prices were a bit high for the portions, it was quite loud, it took way longer than it should've, and my food was lukewarm at best. Not impressed. read more

My experience here seemed similar to other reviewers in that Crows nest was a very mixed experience. The quality of the food and ingredients was very good. In fact, for 22 dollars including tax (but not tip) I'd say my steak, salad, Mac And Cheese and beer were all as good or better than I would expect in terms of food quality. But I would expect my salad to come out before, not literally after the steak. After asking if they had French dressing (they don't) but told they do have balsamic, I'd expect to have received balsamic dressing instead of whatever green herby vinaigrette I got. And I'd expect a sirloin served medium to have a fair amount of pink but not be bright red all the way through. The steak was at best medium rare and I'm not overly particular about doneness so it wasn't a problem for ME but it wouldn't be most people's idea of medium. I sat at the bar on a quiet end of season Sunday evening. The server was not very focused on customers and actively avoided my attempt at giving some feedback at the end of the meal. Since the food was tasty and I didn't want to leave with a bad taste in my mouth (figuratively) from having an unpleasant conversation with a manager, I just left a normal tip and got out of there. read more

We gave the Crow's Nest a chance and expected at least 2.5 stars. The locals appear to keep the place busy which seemed like a bonus. The smoker smelled good from the parking lot. The place has a lake bar feel which appears to have been soaked in varnish at one time like all good taverns on the sea. Getting a seat was a bit challenging, but they came through. It would be nice to have a seat with a view, but the corner was good enough since we weren't on a date or anything. Service came quickly and we were able to get our food pretty timely. I liked the homemade sausage and the beans were a nice addition. The beer was not 25 ounces, but we didn't have time to fix the issue before we left. We still paid and left a tip. Guess people from Michigan aren't all that bad. read more

Attention to detail was spot on! We cannot wait to return to Ohio and visit here again. We just finished an excellent dinner at The Crow's Nest!! Our first visit, as we're from Columbus, oh, and we were on our way home , having spent the day on Kelley's Island. My husband and I shared a rack of ribs and they fell off the bone - tender and great flavor! In addition to the cowboy beans we added 3 more sides -- green beans, tossed salad (you have to get Betty's dressing -- it's tangy and flavorful), and Brussels sprouts. All were hot, tasty and very very good. I'm addition we had 2 drinks and 2 tonic waters. I couldn't believe the bill -- only $38!!' Amazingly cheap!! In addition to the food, the best part of our experience was Lesley, the bartender at the outside bar. The restaurant was slammed, and it was super super busy. Lesley was by herself, but I watched her with every customer. She was warm, helpful, kind, and friendly. She acknowledged every customer that was either seated at the bar or walked up and was able to Keep up the pace and serve everyone. Truly an amazing asset for The crow's nest. We ALWAYS have great food here! We go here all of the time -- and have never had a bad meal! For example, my wife had the lamb shank and I had the ribeye today -- absolutely fantastic! The atmosphere is pretty nice, and they are very family friendly (my kids get a toy every time they go). Probably the best food in the area. read more

Nice atmosphere for an outdoor bar. Service is extremely slow getting the food out of the kitchen. Pretty consistent with all the reviews. Food is very pricey for the quality you get, but it's OK if you know exactly what to order & stick to the basics. Stay away from the smothered chicken. It's dry & bland. The smoked chicken wasn't even smoked?!? The BBQ was cold and brisket was all fat! The crab cakes were small & sliced into strips. Why? Perch had tons of bones. Prime rib steak sandwich looked pretty good. Walleye looked like a nice big cut. So I guess those are the options??? Drinks were very hard to get/order. So we won't be going back any time soon. On our way back home from Cleveland and the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame made a stop in Marblehead out of curiosity. While the town was pretty quiet on a winter day, the Crow's Nest was warm, welcoming and alive. The owner John had just reopened that day after a redo of their bar. Awesome! The food was to die for and the staff so helpful sorting out order. Fresh, homemade, smoked brisket and other yummy treats. Talked to several locals and had such an enjoyable meal. Hugs all around as we left. I felt like I was in an episode of Cheers! So the next time you're on the toll road heading east, stop for in Marblehead for lunch, dinner or just to say Hi the Crow's Nest. You won't be disappointed. read more

Always ask the locals where you should eat when you're in town. This gem was recommended and we couldn't have started off our honeymoon in a better fashion. A clear view of some water and food that was amazing. We can vouch for the Drunken Mussels, Pork Shank, and Crispy caramelized pork belly. read more

I'm not sure why there are so many low star reviews. This place served us quite well for a nice Saturday lunch on the patio. We started with bloody marys, which were just the right amount of spice. We also split the cheese curds, yummy too. The star was the huge walleye sandwich, oh my, so good! Don't skip this place, the food and service was great. Only ding, only about half the people strolling in wore masks as mandated. They could have been more strict about that. read more
