Drove over an hour to get to Reds. It was full, but they seated us immediately. The place is very nicely decorated inside and out. After being seated, that's where it all went downhill. We had come for the perch dinner and they were out. We then ordered our drinks and a couple appetizers, they were also out of the first two appetizers we picked. The waitress apologized and told us to call ahead before we come next time because they run out of a lot of things! So she put our drink order in and after awhile came back and told us she was sorry but the bartender must have lost our order or something. We did finally get our drinks, but not until after our appetizers. My husband got the grouper sandwich and said it was good. I got the perch sandwich and the perch had no flavor at all and there was only a dab of tarter, about the size of a nickle! I've gotten better perch sandwiches at the drive thru! The waitress was kind and apologetic, but food was very disappointing! We ordered 2 sandwiches, two drinks, two appetizers and split their key lime tart )they call it pie, it is not pie). Our cousins met at this restaurant for a lunch reunion. The atmosphere was bright and coastal. The waitress, Kelly, was very accommodating and made sure our beverages were full and the food was perfect! We saw this place two years ago on the way home from Michigan. We had detoured to see Marblehead and saw Reds on the way out. I memory banked it. Finally got to try this place out yesterday. It was worth the wait! The place would fit at any beach in the U.S. The whole vibe is coastal/lake. Loved the vibe. The service was prompt and good as well. The food was amazing, especially the whipped feta with hot honey. Prices are what you'd expect. We had lunch on a Thursday and it was moderately busy. Came to Marblehead for the night, and found Red's on Yelp. Super cute place, perfect after a long day of pool/lake time. Food; Started with the Walleye Bites that was amazing, fresh and crisp. Came here for dinner after the first place we went to was closed. (Even though their website said open..). Our great fortune, as this place was awesome!! Our server Natasha, was amazing! She was very friendly, kind and welcoming! We got there at 6:45 pm. They were hopping for a Tuesday! The entry is to the bar which had seating. They had high top tables and normal tables. There was an outside dining to the left and to the right next to the tables, was a beautifully decorated oasis patio! I imagine they have artists that may play guitar or sing. On this evening, it was quiet. A few people enjoying cocktails and the nice warm breeze. My husband ordered the lobster bisque, perch tacos and a the sangria slushie. I ordered the blackberry watermelon slushie and Red's power bowl. Natasha pointed out the flight of slushie's which I missed. Of course, after trying mine, I had to order a flight which we shared. Highly recommend the slushie of any flavor. They all had great taste and were true to the flavor description. I tried my husband's lobster bisque, it was fabulous! Fine dining quality! This was our first time at Red's Lakehouse - we will be back! They have a great patio area that is dog friendly. They brought out a bowl of water and several milkbone dog treats for our pups. The food and staff were amazing!! Staff were very friendly, polite and accommodating since we had our pups with us. We ordered the walleye bites - make sure you do too!! We also had a buffalo grilled chicken wrap with kettle chips and perch tacos - yum! This place had a good vibe going on. We enjoyed sitting on the patio and relaxing while we had lunch. We would give Red's Lakehouse a solid 4 stars. It's good and it's good in every category (food, decor, service, etc.). Then why not 5 stars, you ask? While the food was good, nothing "blew us" away. This was on a Wednesday afternoon. The initial discussion with our server centered on the apps, Their flagship app is the Walleye Bites - which they were out of! Began with a flight of 4 different alcoholic slushies. That's neat and different. Overall, very refreshing. They used the whole gamut of liquors like vodka, wine, rum, triple sec, etc. For apps we did the wings and the whipped feta. Whipped Feta with hot honey is served with pita bites/chips and carrots. Yes it's suppose to also have celery but they were out of celery. Nice dish. The wings (we chose Hickory BBQ sauce) were excellent. I know this is not a word to describe food but they were "clean". Excellent size and great clean chicken wing taste. Finally we split a perch dinner (again, a flagship dish for Red's). Good perch dinner but no where worth the $28 price tag. 2 pieces of perch and fries and tarter. Again, very clean taste. Fries were also good. Our server, the only male on the staff working that day, was good and seemed to enjoy working there as he was busting out vocals to the 80's songs playing in the restaurant. Good to see someone enjoy themselves. In looking Red's up on-line we did see Doug Petrovic (former partner with Michael Symon's restaurants) is a partner. It shows - all in a positive way. The decor is on-point. Lakehouse feel. Varied menu offerings. Huge liquor listing. Also, the place is huge with an upstairs bar area and we would say two areas of outdoor patio seating. Definitely worth checking out! We made a day trip to Marblehead this past Sunday to check out the lighthouse. Afterward, we were looking for something to eat so we decided to try Red's Lakehouse....and I'm so glad we did! We arrived around 2:00 pm and the place was busy. There were only six-tops left for tables, so we chose to sit at the bar. Another great decision! Jeff was our server, and you would think that he had known every customer at the bar for years. He was very personable and knowledgeable; two things all servers should be. We started with the walleye bites as an appetizer. Each "bite" was actually two or three bites! The fish was fried to perfection and the breading-to-fish ratio was spot on. For my entree, I order the seared ahi tuna from the appetizer section. My boyfriend ordered the Asian Ginger bowl and added tuna. Both dishes were spectacular! The tuna was very lightly seared on all sides and rare in the middle - exactly as it should be. The seasoning was a great balance to the fresh taste of the tuna. The appetizer portion was enough for me but if you would like additional veggies and some rice, go with the bowl - the combination of the flavors was epic. As for beverages, the Red's Lakehouse Shandy was most refreshing on a hot summer day. They also offered alcoholic slushies (known to us southerners as daiquiris ); we tasted the Blackberry Watermelon one and it was very good, just not what I wanted on that day! The sandwich was dry and tasted mostly of bun as that's exactly what it was. We also tried the lobster bisque which also didn't fail to disappoint. Red's Lake House has an awesome atmosphere- super cool vibe inside, and I loved being able to see into the kitchen. The staff (overall) was friendly, and the food was solid. The perch was fresh and delicious, and the chimichurri was a standout. That said, my experience was a bit mixed due to our server. I asked for the coleslaw on my taco to be on the side (I don't like it, but thought my boyfriend might), and she was very firm that it didn't come with coleslaw. When the food arrived, of course... there it was. I scraped it off, and when she saw it, she just giggled and said, "I guess there was coleslaw after all," without offering to have it remade or doing anything to make it right. I was polite about it, but it rubbed me the wrong way. After that, it felt like she avoided our table -- we didn't get refills or much attention after. Also, my fries were unfortunately cold and chewy, which didn't help. Although my boyfriend enjoyed his! But I really do think this was just a case of having a newer server. Other staff we encountered were super welcoming, and a lot of the food coming out looked amazing. It'd been on our list to visit Reds since they opened but hadn't made it until last night. It was Veterans Day so it was a special occasion for me being a veteran. It was a 5/5 experience. It's a gorgeous building (you can see the service station it had previously been on a large poster near the restrooms). Ample parking. The staff were courteous and our server was awesome which is a post-Covid phenomenon any more. He was very attentive and when my husband ordered his entree, which was a special, he let us know that it was the "last one". The devices the servers use to place orders is able to update them to let them know an available quantity in real time. Upon hearing that I then decided I was ordering chicken paprikas. The kids split a pizza. Everything came out promptly, correctly, and was hot. My husband always gets cold fries so he was pumped he didn't have to ask for fresh ones! The pizza was amazingly good also. The paprikas was wonderful and had a slight twist on a classic dish that was spot on. Oh I forgot we ordered the pierogi appetizer. Upon seeing it was only an order of 2 for $12 we were a little disappointed. But after the first bite we were blown away. I've made pierogi for years and eaten them for decades. These are THE BEST we have found in Ohio. Reds serves these that are made from Pierogi Outpost in Sandusky. I placed an order with the company before finishing mine and we pick them up today to serve at thanksgiving! Had to stop here and hear what all the buzz was about! We didn't have a reservation and they said it would be a 45 min wait for a table. The bar was open with 5 seats so we ended up sitting there. We got the frozen mojito cocktail and it was so refreshing!!! We weren't staying for dinner but I had try their fries. Nice shoestring fries & crispy. Loved all the nautical decor and felt like I was in Charleston, certainly not Ohio! Our bartender was amazing and gave us great recommendations for the next time we visit. After sitting at our table for about 10 minutes with servers walking past and bartender only feet away from the table, we finally asked if there was someone who could take a drink order. Server couldn't answer questions about items on the menu. Two of the three entrees were delivered and had to remind server that there was another entree for the table.
