This place had a beautiful view, tasty food and luscious cocktails!!! We also had a very nice and helpful server.

We went here for a dinner for my friend's bachelorette party before a night out. We were looking for good cocktails and a good, hearty dinner - that is exactly what we found here at The Boardwalk! We all ordered cocktails that came with quick service and were delicious! My friend tried the Crab Cake Sandwich and loved every bit of it. I ordered the Simple Cheeseburger, and although it was a typical cheeseburger (with added bacon), it was cooked perfectly and was as juicy as a cheeseburger could get! The fries on the side were great too. We left there being very happy with our choice. This is a great spot on the Boardwalk if you ever visit Put-in-Bay!!!

We visited this place on a Saturday for lunch. There was golf cart parking out front and it was within walking distance of many other stores and bar since it's in the downtown part of the island. When we walked in we were a bit confused as there were multiple bars and food areas. The bathrooms were on the walkway leading to the restaurant. They were small and pretty filthy. One toilet one broken and filled with waste, and the other had toilet paper all over the stall. We were visiting with our dog and discovered, after walking upstairs, that dogs are not allowed on the upper deck. They are allowed on the lower and back portions of the area. We ended up at the seafood bar on the main level. Being from Maryland we're use to seafood with a lot more flavor and seasoning to it. This was very expensive for bland seafood. We also ordered a frozen lobster bisque to-go. (The plastic containers were flimsy and didn't make it back to the mainland before it cracked down the whole side.) If we go to the island again this will be a spot to skip.

Fantastic and lovely atmosphere with great waterfront views! Full bar with some fun beachy drinks and whatever else one might like! Lots of seating both inside and outside. The service was top notch at each visit! They know how to handle crowds. The food, some entrees were really good, some were closer to average. The lobster bisque does it for me! People loved the lobster, fish and the filet. Great place to hang out in Put-in-bay!

I've never given a 1 star rating, but I had to because the server for our table incorrectly charged my credit card with a wrong tip amount, and I called the manager to rectify this, and never heard back.

Parking was available. . The view we had was really nice overlooking tbe water. we sat inside right by the window. Food was delicious. I had the perch sandwich with sweet potato fries and tasted the walleye sandwich. both were nice and hot upon delivery to our table. I am not sure what the sauce was that came with the fries. It wasn't that great bland and tatsed like sour cream. My frozen mango Margarita was pretty good and tasted strong. The vibe was fun and summery. The restaurant's nautical ambiance fit right in with the island vibe in Put in Bay. Great place to sit and chill and have a nice meal!

My visit, which occurred on left me with considerable concerns that I believe warrant your attention, particularly given the prominent lakeside location and the establishment's name, The Boardwalk upper deck which naturally sets a certain expectation for quality and ambiance. Upon arrival, the multi level dining arrangement and the distinction between the main dining area and the downstairs shacks felt somewhat disjointed and could be perceived as confusing for new patrons. Regrettably, the culinary experience did not meet the expectations set by your location and reputation. Lobster Macaroni and Cheese I ordered this dish expecting a substantial lobster component, as the name implies. However, I found no discernible lobster in the dish. Instead, it was garnished with three small shrimp. This felt like a significant misrepresentation. Furthermore, while the plate appeared to hold a generous portion, it was deceptively designed, containing only a shallow layer of pasta and sauce. This left me feeling that the dish offered poor value for its price point. The fried shrimp was rather unremarkable. While acceptable, it lacked any distinguishing characteristics that would set it apart from offerings at more casual chain restaurants. The lobster roll was notably overpriced for its quality and flavor profile. I have experienced superior versions at more modest local establishments, such as Dockside Cafe in Sandusky, which offers a more compelling taste and value proposition. Beyond the food, the service also fell short of expectations. Our server was present only to take our order and deliver the bill. There were no subsequent check ins to inquire about our satisfaction with the meal, nor were we offered refills on our beverages, which led to a feeling of being neglected throughout our dining experience. the overall state of the premises seemed to be in need of attention. The interior appeared dated and exhibited areas that suggested a requirement for more rigorous and deep cleaning, impacting the overall dining atmosphere. My visit was unfortunately a very disappointing one. I had hoped for a premium experience commensurate with the setting and branding, but instead encountered issues with misleading menu descriptions, underwhelming food quality, substandard service, and a lack of general upkeep. I hope this candid feedback can contribute to improvements in these areas.

I've been here before and getting Lobster Bisque here is a must when I come to the island, and if you have not gotten lobster bisque at the boardwalks while enjoying great vibes and even better views you are missing out. The service is amazing and I always have a good time when I'm here!

The food was so delicious! The server was friendly and attentive to our needs. The bathroom was clean and had cute signs above the door saying LobSIR, and LobsHER. We ordered the mushroom salad, salmon blt, western burger, and lobster roll sandwich. I personally tried three out of the four items and they were so good. My favorite was the lobster roll, it was portioned well, and you could taste the butter drizzle and the bisque was the perfect topper. I would gladly eat her again! Thank you for an amazing meal!

The place has great views of the lake and the New England lobster roll was nice. It just felt rushed and a bit too touristy for our liking.

We heard that the lobster bisque at The Boardwalk was the best thing to eat on Put-in-Bay so we had to check it out. We were kind of confused when we initially got there, since it seemed like there was a bunch of different restaurants in the building. Only the upper deck, which is the full service sit down area, was open, so we headed up the stairs. We only learned later that the main deck, which was closed, was a more informal fast-casual restaurant. Apparently both areas serve mostly the same food at the same prices. Since it was pretty late in the season, the restaurant was pretty empty. We got seated quickly and ordered two of their famous dishes: Lobster Bisque in Bread Bowl ($18) - I wish I could say I loved this. The bread bowl was clearly commercially purchased, which is fine, but they didn't toast or warm it up at all. It didn't help that the bisque inside was also lukewarm. I was expecting the bisque to be hot at least. This led to a slightly unappealing congealed cream texture. As for the bisque itself, there were a decent number of lobster shreds with the appropriate flavor (and some shell pieces in the soup too...), but the rest of the bisque was lacking flavor. It had a distinct lack of aromatics or spices. Other than the lobster, the rest basically just tasted like cream. I had to add some black pepper to help it out. Honestly it was a little disappointing. I also wish they had carved out more of the bread since there wasn't a lot of soup inside. Lobster poutine ($25.75) - The fries were crisp, but again the whole dish was lukewarm in temperature. Very odd. The fries seemed to be commercial frozen fries which were seasoned rather unevenly. This made some bites super salty, taking away from the dish. It already had enough going on with the cheese curds and bisque on top. I liked the construction of the dish: they alternated layering fries, bisque, and cheese curds, and then repeated the layers. That allowed the bisque to more evenly distribute throughout the dish and thus managed to not leave any unadorned fries at the bottom. Unfortunately, the curds weren't fresh (not unexpected), and a good portion of them were not melted given how lukewarm the bisque was. There were some chives sprinkled on top as garnish. Note: this dish is very big. We thought it would be half as large as it actually was. As a side note, their brand of "hot" sauce was not spicy at all. The ingredients only listed red bell pepper, which has zero spiciness in it. The only spice seemed to come from black pepper. Add it if you want sweet and sour notes in your food. Also, they serve their drinks in disposable plastic cups. Very cheap and jarring for a sit down, more upscale venue. I personally wouldn't go to the Boardwalk again, but I guess it was nice to try.

We stopped in this weekend and I had to get the lobster bisque, which they are known for. It didn't disappoint. It has lobster meat in it and the service was great! The view was excellent too!

As a Pescetarian in Northeast Ohio I have meaning to try Jolly Roger Seafood House for a while,…read morewell I finally got there and the big question is why I waited so long. Jolly Roger is located in Port Clinton right on Lake Erie; I was expecting something ordinary or just a bit dated and boy was I wrong. The building is very modern and clean from the outside, white and angular with big windows. Inside white walls, rough hewn wooden tables and just the right amount of decor makes for a modern seaside feel, casual but also classy. The setup is fast casual, you order and pay up front at the counter, get a number for your table and then get your own drink at the service station. The menu is understandably very heavy on fish and seafood with a couple of other items. While there are the expected fried fish meals, but also oysters, shrimp and salmon, salads and even some tacos. The reason I came was of course for the fried fish, I decided on the Perch and Chips, which is $18. I grabbed some water, hot sauce and lemon and settled onto a table. The meal was brought out fresh and hot by a food runner in a couple of minutes. The meal was 4 nice sized perch fillets on top of a generous portion of fresh waffle fried potatoes with a side of tarter sauce. The fish were excellent, fresh and perfectly fried with a nice crispy cornmeal crust around the delicately fish; moist with a slight sweetness and perfect texture. The waffle fries were exceptional, fried to a crisp outside and tasty inside; usually fries at a seafood place are an afterthought, here they actually are well worth getting and eating. Even the tarter sauce was very nice, nothing special but creamy with a nice pickle contrast to add a little extra flavor. Usually when I see a place that has been around this long and has great reviews I am a bit let down when I give them a try; Jolly Rogers Seafood House exceeded my expectations in almost every way. Although set up as a fast casual restaurant with a typical fried seafood menu, the actual restaurant feels more upscale and modern with a great inside and a very nice patio looking out onto Lake Erie. The food is not cutting edge, but it is expertly prepared and delicious. Prices are moderate with large portions for your money. Some of the best fried perch and waffle fries I have had. I will be back any time I am in the area, a very high recommendation as long as you are looking for fish or seafood, go and enjoy.

Very disappointing…read more We have a cottage on the islands and yesterday we had some time available before our ferry so we stopped in to take advantage of their early happy hour (3-6) as we've been there before and enjoyed it. Not this time. It was about two minutes to 3 when we sat at the bar (nobody else at the bar but us) and asked for a menu. The bartender (male) gave us dinner menus so we asked could we please have the lunch menus. He looked at his watch and said "I guess so" and gave them to us. We then asked for the happy hour menu and again, he looked at his watch , decided it was ok, then gave them to us. Not an awesome start but no biggie. We ordered the happy hour calamari, and for lunch I had the perch sandwich with chips and wife got the luncheon steak filet. First the good news. Service was good, food came out quickly and my wife said her steak (while a bit pricey at $35 for a small filet) was excellent as were the green beans that came with it. Now the bad. The calamari was severely over-fried and basically tasteless. My wife asked me "do you taste anything?" and candidly, I didn't. Just the dipping sauce. My perch was equally flavorless, all I tasted was bread. Same goes for the 1/2 baked potato that came with the steak. That looked and tasted exactly like a microwaved potato someone sprinkled a bit of shredded cheese on. Very, very bland. And the homemade chips that came with the perch were the saltiest things ever salted. I couldn't eat them at all, had about three (they looked great) and realized my sodium level would spike off the charts if I ate any more. With two drinks (a happy hour beer & Tito's) the bill with tip was $100 and we couldn't taste the calamari, the perch or the potato and couldn't eat the chips. Insert "not great Bob" animated gif.

My husband, who is extremely picky about meat quality, declared it the best burger he's ever had. Stuffed burgers are notoriously tricky to cook to a preferred well-done without drying out, but the kitchen nailed it! My only minor critique--and this is just personal preference as a bit of a seasoning buff--is the perch. The fish itself was amazingly fresh, which is the most important detail, but the fried batter was a little plain for my taste. I would've loved a kick of Old Bay or extra seasoning in the batter, similar to how amazingly seasoned the fries were! All in all, this spot is a great hidden gem in Sandusky.
