Mojito Bay was our very first bar stop on the island. I will say that we were there in late September, so our experience was much different than it would be in the height of their busy season - it was super quiet on the island and all of the bars we visited were almost completely empty. Honestly it was so nice and relaxing, and I don't think I could handle being at the "Key West of the Midwest" during the summer months! Anyway, Mojito Bay is a cool sandy beach bar with swing seats that specializes in - you guessed it - mojitos. They have a huge menu of different types so I got the "tropical surprise" and Nate got a passionfruit mojito. They load them up with lots of fresh mint and liquor - they were strong and very tasty! We loved it! We were there in September, so it wasn't crazy packed, but it was still really hard to get a swing. There are lots they were always fully occupied, and we were dying to sit in a swing lol. As we were leaving, one finally opened, and we darted in and shared it haha. This place is probably the best bar on the island. Theres sand spread out everywhere, the main bar has swings instead of bar stools, and they specialize in fruity drinks. All of that makes it have a beachy feel which is a nice change of scenery from all of the other bars. Had a few mojitos which felt weak in alcohol content but tasted good. Follows Social Distancing: YES I can't speak to this place on the weekend and how it looks then. I went last Tuesday afternoon and there were 2 other couples there that day. It wasn't busy at all so it was very easy to social distance. There are signs all around the outside space promoting social distancing. There is a large menu of mojitos and they make a lot of these. They put mint in a plastic cup. Muddle it once or twice and add all the ingredients. I get that they make them this way because they are making so many of them. It's just a quick way to make a drink and it shows. Whole mint leaves are left in the glass with some mixers. The drinks are fun to drink, but they are just ok. There were 2 large wood swings hanging on opposite sides of the bar. It looks like there used to be more swings, but were probably taken down because of COVID. I enjoyed taking my flip flops off and drinking with my feet in the sand. Until 3 people came into the bar and sat at a table a few tables away. And 1 girl held her friends hair back while she puked in the sand. I guess if you are going to go big at PIB on a Tuesday afternoon you might as well end up puking in the sand at the Mojito Bay. If the weather is nice, this is the place to come at Put-in-Bay!! Always have live music going along with some amazing mojitos to enjoy. The swings at the bar are every girls Instagram dream (yes, I have posted a photo on them). It is nice to feel the sand on your feet when you are there. I enjoy that it is not a traditional bar and the laid back vibe you experience while you are there. The bartender was even nice enough to share the WiFi password with me. They are not baby friendly. They tried to force me to throw away my SEALED water bottles for my 6 month old baby to make her formula because they don't allow them in the bar...I understand if they are open but how do you expect a family with a baby to feed their child if you expect them to throw away what you're using to make their food. read more

By far favorite bar on the island. I mean what else could you ask for, tropical drinks, swings, sand, AND all in Ohio?! We came here during the day and at night a couple times while staying on the island. They usually have someone playing in the middle of the bar doing an acoustic set during the day, which adds to the fun, tropical atmosphere. Be ready to wait patiently for a swing, or just hover right behind a person until they feel awkward enough to leave. It is a full bar, known for their mojitos. I tried a peach mojito when we went there the first night. It was pretty tasty and I would recommend trying one of their long list of available mojito flavors. Upon the next day with the heat beating down on me I decided to go with a Pina Colada and Creamsicle mixed.. yes mixed, it was amazing!! By far favorite drink on the island! A couple of tips, if you can't afford to stay on Put-in-bay try to get a trailer at the campground close by. Dont bring your car on the fairy. From the fairy DONT rent a golf cart, you could walk faster and the shuttle bus is cheaper and way faster. Unless you want to tour the island yourself skip the cart, there's no where to park and once you park it you won't use it til you leave, so upwards of $200 to drive 10 mph for 3 miles just to park it and come back. read more

The mojitos are $8 a piece but there is a huge selection of flavors posted above the bar and boy are they tasty. If you're looking for a relaxing place to forget you're in Ohio and enjoy a drink, then look no further than Mojito Bay. Bar stools are so mainland. This tropical tiki bar is complete with swings to lose your balance on while enjoying a mojito or two...or three. But don't fret if the swings are full when you get there, you can either A) stand awkwardly behind someone who's already on one until they move or B) sit in the fun colored chairs or the empty, shipwrecked boat by the bar. Didn't have to wait at all to get a bartenders attention (although that may have been due to the fact that my 16 year old sister was with us while we were trying to sit at the bar and he just wasn't going to have that) and he made the best pomegranate mojito I have ever had. And probably will ever have. The floor is sand. The mojitos are amazing. The people watching isn't half bad either. This is definitely a must-see if you're on the island. read more

Alright I loved this place. Spent two nights in PIB for a bachelorette party last month and we hit this place both nights. It's an absolute blast! It feels like you're at the beach with the decor, sand and swings! I love it. The band was decent and the bartenders were fabulous. Extremely helpful, fast and nice.
