I've been here a few times when we make a trip to PIB but I'm not sure why. Normally someone else in the group wants to try it out for the first time. In my experience, the drinks are hit an miss. I've had some good drinks but some really bad ones too. Any form of a "mule" drink has been fine but ask for only a little ice. I found anything that has a fruity flavor to it is normally overly fruity to where it tastes like pure sugar. Drinks also seem inconsistent in content. Two members of our group ordered the same drink and they tasted completely different. It's too bad there wasn't a bloody mary option, but no biggie. They do offer a few appetizers but good luck getting them to come out quickly or if at all. We had a staff member tell us after 20 minutes she hasn't gotten our cheese tray because she was the only one working and would get to it soon. It never showed up, we left after 40 minutes. It's not like we are cooking chicken wings with different sauces, its cheese on a plate. If it does come out the appetizers were tasty enough. I hate to pick on the staff, I've worked in food service it can suck, but I've only had one employee at Red Moon who wasn't rude and made us feel like it was a problem we were there in the first place. Sorry, I wanted to drop $50 on a drink an appetizer at your establishment. The first time we visited this place when it was newly opened the bartender was amazing and very funny. It's what brought us back the 2nd time, unfortunately, I haven't seen that employee or one like him since. I guess the allure of this place is that its meant to be like a real speakeasy but really that doesn't do much when compared to the service and possible quality of drinks. read more

The first speakeasy I actually stumbled upon without being told beforehand, look for the red light (common theme for speakeasies). Very cool place with an interesting history. I had an old-fashion, and I've had better, but not bad. The only bad review I see is some guy who seems to be upset that this bar didn't fall in line with his desire to bar hop and rip body shots off of his friends' hairy bellies :) Sure the place is a little classier, because it's a speakeasy, not Randy and Herb's Backyard Bar and Club. Stumbled into this speakeasy accidentally a couple years ago, after making a wrong turn at the round house. What a pleasant surprise......! Great drinks, low key atmosphere, rarely crowded, a true throw back to a simpler time and place on the island. We make it a mandatory stop when at the Bay. This was or third time in on July 21, 2018 and the place has just gone to hell in a hand basket! We ducked in to get away from the craziness to find a female bartender yelling at the only table to KEEP IT DOWN so the ladies left. My husband went to the bar (no table service) to request our fav watermelon-mint martini and an appetizer and was told by same female bartender the WE DONT HAVE THAT - so my husband asked if there was anything similar and she said NO and walked away back to the group of girls she was chatting with at the bar! In all our years of going to PIB we have NEVER been treated so rudely! So sad - this place had such potential! AVOID! read more

Pros: Not crowded even on a busy Friday night, fun atmosphere, reasonable drink prices. Cool decor, easy to get to. Cons: Blueberry mojito - couldn't even drink it was soooo full of muddled mint leaves (12 of them, 12!!!) had to get a sprite to mix it. read more
