Visiting the area from Virginia for the weekend and my friends pulled me in here. Doesn't look like a lot from the outside, and the inside isn't much either, but it's welcoming and pretty neat. The service was fantastic, as Devin was super personable and great at making sure we got what we wanted/needed. The food was also amazing. After a long day of walking around Cedar Point we got a BBQ chicken pizza for the table and it was delicious. Tried this place on a whim. We were so happy we did. They had outside seating which was socially distanced. Also, our dog was allowed there. Since we couldn't leave her at the hotel, this was a big plus. They gave her a bowl of water even. Everyone was very friendly and professional. The food was outstanding and took no time at all to get it. I honestly did not have one complaint, even a minor one. Granted it was a Wednesday evening but overall I highly recommend them. read more

I can definitely understand the mixed reviews here. It's really just an OK place to eat. Nothing to brag about. The hostess and server were very friendly and welcoming. Our server forgot some things we had asked for and the food also came out a little slower than I would have expected, but it wasn't a big deal. The food was OK, too. I felt like the burgers weren't all that great. They tasted like something I could have made at home. I really liked the spinach and artichoke dip though. I'm not sure I could justify the prices for the food though. Seemed quite high for the mediocre quality. I think the best part about this place is the ambiance. I loved sitting outside on a nice summer day. Don't think I would come back, but it's a nice place to relax for lunch or dinner. read more

I came here for dinner after a day of walleye fishing. Everything was great. The food selection is wonderful for almost every person, but especially is great for a smoked meat lover. My wife and I decided to eat here because we drove by it and thought it looked like a good place to eat with a lot of outdoor seating. We ended up eating inside because of the weather, and we were both really impressed with the atmosphere. They also have a very large menu and our portions were big. They have a great selection of different meats from their smoker. I tried the smoked turkey, my wife tried the meatloaf, both were excellent. Fun and relaxing atmosphere. New outdoor patio and bar definitely adds a great opportunity for a fun night time hang out. Appetizers- sauerkraut balls are great but you only get 5 so value is so so. Loaded tots is a large app but not loaded - add more cheese. Meal - very large portion of walleye and perch. It is nice that you can choose 'some of both'. Great tasty and lightly battered. We always come to the Crows Nest on our annual fishing weekend and this year was another great meal and fun at the Nest. Food was excellent and all 5 of us were very pleased. My chicken sandwich with their smoking process was out of this world. I can say it was the best I've ever had. Owner Marla stopped by to visit with us. She remembered us from years before. We entertained her with our group of knuckleheads. Can't wait to get back there and hopefully it's this summer again. Next June for sure. The other reviews here seem awfully harsh. Service alone was five stars. Food was 3-4 stars. Service was fantastic, and I found out at the end that our waitress was one of the owners. She was great. Place was clean and atmosphere was great. It was 50 cent wings night and the wings were fantastic. They were heavily fried, but very meaty and very tasty. The walleye, bread, tater tots, and broccoli were all tasty. No complaints. A solid 4 stars. Don't let these rough reviews deter you - I almost let them and I'm so glad I didn't. Was desperate for dinner after arriving to our condo late on a Monday night. This was the only place still serving past 9 so we took a chance. I had low expectations based on the reviews, but was pleasantly surprised. My family enjoyed it. The food was fresh and good, at 9:45 on a Monday night with nobody in there no less. Wife's salad had fresh veggies. Son's shrimp and rice and green beans were great. Daughter ordered a pizza and it was really, really good. I got the bone-in ribeye medium well and it was VERY good and cooked perfectly. My son ate a quarter of my steak with me and said it "was amazing". It was. A bit pricey but that's what you get when you eat in "resort" towns with restaurants like this. I have no problem paying extra for food as long as it's good. I walked out of this place content. I was here about 3 weeks or so ago. I have been to this place about 3 times over the last couple years. While they do have new owners and have cleaned the place up it still just socks. Let's start with our young waiter. We had party of 8. Place was busy but no packed to the gills. It took about 45 mins to get our food which was okay. Food came out was not hot and he forgot salads. The taste was what you expect up at the lake. Bland and lack of chef and quality products being used to make the meal. We asked for our checks. After 30 mins the waiter still was lost. After getting up and talking to the hostess I s explained we wanted our bills now. After another 20 mins he shows up and says. Well I do have a lot going on. What a idiot. Management maybe some customer service training is in line and I would fire that waiter. Am not coming back to this place and I suggest you stay clear. Checked this place out on our way home. We came in starving, and maybe that made the food look better, but everything came out beautifully prepared with a homemade taste. The food was DELICIOUS and not too pricey whatsoever, what you would expect to pay for the quality of food (highest priced menu item was the ribs for $23, and lowest price was probably $6). This place just keeps getting worser and worser............. We stopped in for a cocktail to see how it was doing. Two bartenders ignored us for about ten minutes. Then, one guy strolls by and says, "What can I get you?" We order some beers and he goes off to interact with some other staffers before he brings our order. Like so many young bar personnel these days, he doesn't give us a cocktail napkin or absorbent coaster for our bottles/glasses. This omission irritates the heck out of me. Two of our friends arrive a little later and.........same thing. We had to call out to him for service. Then, our friends ask for menus to order some appetizers. He says, "Ask the other guy when my shift ends in about five minutes.". Honestly. That's what he told them. I caught the attention of a waitress across the bar and she came over. I asked to tell the bartender to deal with our friends request and he came over like he was just kidding and took the order. Eventually, there were four people behind the bar. Food was good, service is usually pretty good, it's up and down depending on how busy, we're local and understand when it's busy. Monday night it was not busy but our server seemed detached and did not seem to have time to listen and could not remember anything. It took over a half hour to get water after asking a couple times. When the salads came out they were not correct and she did not know where they went. Pretty much the same with dinner handing mine to the wrong person, that's the whole point of being the server, waiting on people and getting it right. After working all day it's nice to be taken care of, we were not in a hurry, but the server was and not in a good way. The young man with the curly hair that seated us was smiling and very nice, later saw him clearing tables quickly and quietly, maybe they should swop jobs, she could learn from him. Need to pay attention to how your servers are handling customers. Good service gets a good or better tip. read more

The Crows nest has always been a stop during our summer trips to the lake. We REALLY liked it before the remodel a few years ago. It had a great little dockside atmosphere. And the menu was good as well. I remember a killer Prime Rib special they had once that was amazing. It took us a few visits to have the "new" place grow on us. Its nice and the food is still good. Its worth a visit if you are in the area. Hopefully they still hafve the Betty salad. read more

Here for dinner tonight the special is twin lobster tails or prime rib! They're famous for their Betty's salad which is an excellent dinner salad very popular in our area. A dollar extra with your meal! We were longing for some time out where we felt comfortable and safe. All of the servers bartenders etc. are wearing their masks and we are social distancing. I have a twin lobster tails they were excellent but the best thing is the sweet potato french fries and of course the house salad which is Betty a favorite here in our area!! read more

Our group of six out of state fisherman have been taking our catch of the day to another restaurant in the Port Clinton area for years until their quality faded. This year we returned to the Crows Nest after a 5 year absence to find it under a new ownership. We enjoyed every aspect of our visit from the cocktails to the food to the bill. Great food, especially the smoked brisket dinner and the prime rib. Owner Marla greeted us upon arrival, such a pleasant person. Appetizers are a little pricey but all restaurants in this area are about the same. Have to try the Betty's salad, outstanding. Staff is friendly and outgoing and try to please, wait time for a table is extended but with the social distancing restrictions that's the norm now. It was a Friday night and hardly a car in the parking lot which is very odd for any restaurant in this area during the summer. The place appeared very clean and we had our choice of eating inside or outside, we chose inside. We sat at a booth in the bar area with an open wall to the outside which my wife liked. There were only three people at the bar and we were the only people that looked like we were there to eat, this was at 6 pm on a Friday! The waitress was very friendly and came right over to get our drink order. My wife asked for the same drink she had from our previous visit a "lake Erie sunset" and was told that they don't make that anymore. The waitress offered an alternative which was a martini with coconut in it and my wife really liked that. I had a glass of so so Apathetic wine. We ordered potato skins for our appetizer. My wife ordered the chicken breast with mushrooms and I ordered the Reuben with fries. After a long wait our appetizer arrived and they looked good except they were covered in onions, we hate onions. About a minute later out comes our entrees. We weren't even done picking the onions off the first potato skin which turned out to be tasteless. My Reuben was pretty good but my wife's chicken was burned on the bottom. The waitress came over to ask how things were and I embarrassed my wife with my honesty but they offered no solution just a kind "I'm sorry." We were presented with a $60 bill for this mess, paid it and got out of there leaving the burnt chicken and potato skins. Save your time and money, drive a couple hundred feet and go to Crabby Joes next door on the water. read more

First time coming here. Seemed to be a pretty popular place. Was seated relatively quickly. My girlfriend and I chose to sit outside. The waitress that was friendly and took our drink orders my girl friend had a Long Island which she said was good, and me just a coke. Now we look at our food options, the menu while not very expansive has a few good options. But all seemed to be overpriced. So we ordered she orders the sirloin and myself i order the ribeye. It took a long time for the food to come out on a what seemed like not so busy day. When the food does finally come out I my girlfriends is not cooked how she wanted it, and I didn't even get the dish I ordered. They had brought me the sirloin as well. I told the kid that brought it to just forget about bringing me the new steak I didn't want to wait that long again and ate the sirloin. It was cooked right but wasnt real quality meat. I judge a steak wether I have to use steak sauce or not and this one needed it. Now back to that friendly waitress. I think we seen here maybe 3 times throughout our whole trip here. I hadn't been to Marblehead for a few summers and decided to come to The Crow's Nest for dinner one night. It had changed hands since my last visit and I was severely disappointed at the newly renovated restaurant. The food has gone down in quality significantly, as has the general atmosphere. The menu was limited and lackluster, and the crisp white linen naplins have been replaced by loosely folded and greasy cutlery. Had the absolute worse service that I have ever had anywhere! Was seated at the bar and Jasmyn S was our server. Waited 10 minutes for her to take our drink order. We asked for menus which she sprayed with disinfectant but never wiped off - just handed them to us by the corner. When we ordered our food we had to ask her 4 times for sauerkraut balls and her response was OH - Sorry. We ordered French Onion Soup that came out first. We asked for napkins and she ignored us. Another customer (who I assume is a regular) went and got us silverware and napkins. When the food came out we had to tell them that we hadn't gotten out salads yet. My husband ordered a well done steak. When the plate came out there was blood on it. When he cut into it the blood ran out of it so my husband pushed it to the side. Jasmyn never asked if everything was okay, finally another employee came over and asked. Jasmyn's response was - NOT MY FAULT. What was her fault is that she was RUDE and did not do her job. Although Becky was friendly, I thought she spent too much time talking at each table, and effected her service, on taking food orders and refilling drinks. My wife ordered the tater tot appetizer, $10.00, while I ordered the Walleye bites $14.00. After quite a wait, about 40 minutes, our food was served and quite frankly, it was unimpressive. For $10.00, my wife's tater tots were an extremely small serving, while my Walleye bites, were heavily breaded, with no seasoning I could detect, and the fish was very dry with no flavor! Next time, if we return to the Marblehead area, and stop in, it will be for some cold beer only! read more

We came here on the recommendation from the b&b where we were staying. We arrived on a Saturday around 6pm, to a restaurant that was about half full. We were seated on the patio per our request. The server was friendly, but seemed frazzled. We placed our order for a first course, lobster bisque and walleye bites. They came out in a pretty timely manner and both were pretty good. This is where things went down hill. We waited over an hour and 15 minutes for our dinner to arrive. I ordered the prime rib, and my wife the Reuben sandwich. There was a table of five who came in well after us, who got and ate their food before ours arrived. We asked our server multiple times during this period about the status of our food, and her reply was that the kitchen was busy and she would continue to check on it. During this period, someone had attempted to light a fire in the fire pit near us. However, instead of lighting it just produced a large amount of smoke. We had our four month old son, and we were all smoked out to the point where we smell like a campfire even the next day. Not enjoyable at all. We moved tables after a table next to ours complained, and eventually our food came. It was average. Fries out of the freezer, and an extremely fatty piece of prime rib. The manager came to us and inquired about our satisfaction with the meal. We told him about the extreme wait time, and our experience with the smoke pit. His extremely disinterested response to the smoke was "there's nothing I can do about that." He recited a scripted apology about our long meal wait, and offered to take 25% off our bill. Insufficient in my eyes for a meal that took over two hours, but whatever. When the check came, there was only a 20% reduction of the bill. This was a perfect message that this restaurant has no interest or desire to have us return as customers. We will happily oblige this, and will never be back. What a poor memory of what was to be a nice weekend getaway up to the lake. We'll be sure to make different choices next time. read more
