Several kid options on their online menu, and turns out they have a kid's menu too (the usual suspects) We started with fried cheese, which I expected to be fairly standard. Nope. Local mozz, in big chunks, on skewers. Perfectly fried, super pull, plus an excellent house marinara. Yum. Triple yum. Kid K got the kid tenders and fries, and liked them. I got the special, perch and pierogi. Pretty darn good, both aspects. I could have eaten a plate of the pierogi. Come with sautéed onions, and sour cream. A nice tartar for the fish. Big portion of perch. My preference would be a bit more pierogi and a bit less fish, but man, plenty of leftovers. Excellent service. Nice atmosphere, pretty standard lakeside decor. Prices maybe a bit high, but again, a ton of good food. We might be back on our long weekend trip. read more

We had a great time here. The food and drinks were great. I hate to say this, but everyone in my party felt as though the server was rude and kind of grouchy. My dairy intolerance wasnt taken seriously as I asked for no butter on the bun but it was served on both parts of the bun. They offered to remake the sandwich but I felt bad so I just had them replace the bun. Unfortunately the view is of a parking lot but you can hear the live music next door from the winery. read more

The service and the ambience are just fine. In fact, I would say the service was even above Fine perhaps four stars. That said the drinks, at least mine, and the food were not. My seafoam, margarita, or whatever it was called, was just way too salty! The salt stayed in my mouth for sometime even after having a great lakes IPA. For the food, the perch and my perch tacos were good but the flour tortillas were somewhat stale. My wife ordered the small serving of spaghetti with meat sauce. Either the meat sauce was extremely watery or the pasta was not properly drained before adding the sauce. My wife also said it needed additional seasoning. It was an interesting stop, and I'm glad we did; however, I doubt we'll be back. read more

Came to this restaurant as I heard they have great food and terrific pies. I was super excited to try it out. Unfortunately, I didn't get the chance to try the food as I was approached by a manager named Mallory who was probably just having a really bad day but took it out on me and my group. After the encounter, we didn't feel comfortable or welcomed at the restaurant by this particular staff member/manager and went elsewhere. Poor customer service on this particular occasion that my group is still shocked even happened. I wouldn't recommend if you value customer service during your visit. read more

So my initial impression was that I was getting perch as walleye in the commercial fishery, as is big as 20 pounds. The serving was more than two adults could eat. We went on a Saturday in October. It's a nice homey spot that is clean and comfortable. The homemade bread is very good. The coffee was weak and for $2.29 I would not recommend it. I considered an adult beverage which is nice they had those options but did not order any. Breakfast sandwich was straightforward but a slice of cheese added $1.69. I don't even like cheese. Others ordered the combo and the pancakes were good. Everything came out quickly, fresh, and cooked well. Driving around Marblehead, pre-season and during the pandemic, we were excited to find anything open. Marblehead Galley's patio was welcoming us as we drove by, so we popped in for a quick lunch. All of the staff were wearing masks so we felt perfectly at ease wearing them as well. I'll be honest we're not quite used to this new reality yet, but that's for a different conversation! When you're this close to the lake, and you have the opportunity to have fish caught nearby, you really should. I ordered the fried lake perch, and it did not disappoint. In fact, it was some of the better perch I've had in recent memory, and while I can't imagine we'll be back in the area any time soon, I will gladly stop by again and order some more when I do. read more

I have been coming to the Galley since I was little, back when they were at their old location. This new location is way nicer than the old one and luckily the food hasn't really changed. Sadly though, the service hasn't changed either. The hosts don't really know what they are doing and the servers always seem to be running around even when its not busy. The last time we were in, I ordered a perch sandwich platter. This comes with the perch sandwich, chips, and coleslaw. You can replace the chips with French fries and I would highly recommend it. The French fries are amazing here! They are crispy and always come out hot. The perch itself is also always good - with about three big pieces on the sandwich. Overall great food experience, but the service still needs some help. read more

Great place near Lake Erie for Walleye, which my husband tried for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed. I had the special fried bologna sandwich with added bbq sauce, which brought back memories. My wife and I decided to explore somewhere we hadn't eaten before, took a different road, and found the Galley. The exploration was entirely worthwhile. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting. The staff is polite, prompt and helpful. And the food is delicious. Our server, Mandy, made multiple recommendations, which led my wife to the very satisfying seafood platter. I asked about the Lake Erie Monster burger (a mix of wild game meats), and was advised that it would not go as well if well-done. If you sit inside there are paintings by local artists to enjoy, and if you sit outside the deck is a pleasant place to enjoy the fresh air. Three of us ate here during the 4th of July week so it was pretty busy. Not a big place but we got right in. They were a little short handed but that's normal these days. We all ordered the petite perch dinner with your choice of sides. Came with three medium size perch filets. They were very fresh and tasted great. The salad was a good size but only had lettuce, onion and carrots. Fries were great as well. They have homemade deserts that looked yummy but we were too full. They also have a very cute shop in front. Will go back again for sure. read more

The lobster margarita was pretty darn good along with the shrimp. The walleye sandwich and perch platter were very average. The breading used in the fish had next to no flavor (straight flour?) but the quality of the fish was good. I had the hash browns customized and no effort was put into making them pop (requested cheese, onions and topped with scallions and sour cream and got it all just kinds thrown on the plate with sour cream in a coffee creamer type pack). I would probably come back for the lobster margarita and shrimp and some drinks but wouldn't order an entree. Too many other better options around this area. Nice little original restaurant with friendly service, various options, and solid beer. We happened to stop by on our way through the small lakeside town. For appetizers, we ordered the fried cheese and jumbo shrimp. The prior is literally an enormous fried ball of cheese. The latter, being the shrimp, was very tasty and enough to feed 2 or 3. I decided on having the house favorite, lakeside perch, which came with two sides. My brother ordered the walleye, also fresh. Fish is best when it's caught fresh, and you can certainly tell that the fish they offer is fresh from the lake (as long as it is marked as fresh, seeing how salmon won't be native to these parts haha). As for the sides, I got fries and hash browns. I would highly advice against ordering the latter, as it came burnt to a crisp and messy. There is a solid beer list with many IPAs on tap. You can sit at the bar, by the bar, in the dining hall, or even an outside patio. The atmosphere is nice, and it makes you feel like you are in the film Jaws haha. Little town vibe, cozy home cooking restaurant, friendly service, and being lakeside. Well, no sharks in the lake, but you get the idea. read more

Slow service, inconsistent food. We were told we had to wait until noon on a Sunday to put in a lunch order. Once noon came, we were told they would not make lunch until all breakfast orders were done, and that would be at least a half hour. We had to get up and walk out- would have been nice to know that ahead of time considering they knew we were waiting for lunch and had a toddler with us. Wow!!! Busy Busy Busy!!! Food took a while to come out as they were slammed. Heck it took 20 minutes to get a table. It was worth the wait. I had an omelette that rivaled any I ever had at a Marine Corps chow hall. I know what your thinking, but let me tell you this is high praise indeed. Marine Corps Cooks make baller breakfast. A little overpriced for the amount of food. Given that it was a very rainy day, it was 1pm, and still fairly busy, but we were just underwhelmed. This place is horrible please think twice before coming here. As soon as we got here, there were no signs of no outside drinks so u walked in with my drink. The waitress came after 10 minutes and asked to take my drink away in the most annoying and not polite way possible. Before I even had the chance to ask if I could go outside to finish my drink she took it from the table. Apart from this, she kept giving me dirty looks every time she walked by our table. There were two hairs on two different plates we had, and their prime rib was dry and with no flavor. Not good at all. Please do not come here to eat . A really good family style local place to get decent food as long as you know what you're getting into. By that I mean that it's basically bar food but with more selections than a regular bar, it's not a place you would make a special trip to for the food itself. Having said that, if you're in the area and you want a place that has something for everyone then it's not a bad place to stop. They have a good beer selection, their cocktails are ok and the prices are decent. The wait staff is really friendly, attentive and fast. The walleye and perch were very good although their seafood is all deep fried. They have a great pie selection if you're into that. The bottom line: come here if you are looking for decent grub in a family friendly atmosphere. If you want something a little more formal or upscale with more sophisticated fare you'll want to keep looking. read more
