On the final evening of our trip we decided to look for something a little more upscale. Poseidon did not disappoint. Upon first glance the outside doesn't really give you that vibe, but don't be fooled. The moment you walk through the doors, the crisp, modern atmosphere immediately sets the tone for an exceptional evening. We were seated promptly and welcomed by our server Joleen, who provided attentive and friendly service throughout the meal. Our group ordered wine and some appetizers. We chose the Cesar salad, french onion soup, tuna tower, scallops, and shrimp cocktail. The presentation alone was enough to impress. Everything was absolutely divine. The scallops were some of the best I've ever eaten. Seasoned and cooked to perfection, the smoked bacon jam was an ideal pairing. As impressed as we were with the appetizers, the entrees somehow managed to top them. Our table ordered the filet mignon, steak frites, and the smash burger. The steaks were cooked perfectly, and while I don't typically order steak with a sauce the blackberry demi glaze added just the right amount of flavor without overpowering the meat. My friends thoroughly enjoyed their meals stating that the smash burger was the best burger they had ever had. We finished dinner with a coffee and a crème brûlée. If you are looking for a phenomenal dining experience in Port Clinton, this is it. They really checked all the boxes. read more

#1This place is NOT handicap accessible!! It's billed as a "Lounge" but the noise level when busy is beyond a "lounge" environment where you can barely hear the person across your table. Tables are super close and the aisle very narrow. We had such high hopes for this place and left disappointed in the food. We are seafood lovers but the tuna was tasteless and calamari sauce had a bitter aftertaste. We had to ask for bread which was never offered and even though we ordered a Trident Martini which said it had blue cheese stuffed olives, we were charged for the blue cheese olives!!! If that was the case, we would have skipped those for regular!! Unless the food greatly improves, we will not return and face the parking hassle in downtown P.C. It's such a shame as we were hoping for an upscale lounge with great food. read more

Growing up on the coast in the south, I know a good oyster. I've shucked them in South Carolina and New Orleans. And these days you can't get a decent oyster anywhere for a buck. Poseidon delivered. The oysters were cold, meaty, and sweet. The cocktail sauce was spot on. I tried the other sauce but I don't think vinegar and oysters pair well. But that's my palate. The calamari was delicious. Lightly fried with a crispy cornbread texture. Absolutely loved it! My mom got the ahi tuna, which was cooked to perfection. Seared perfectly on the outside and raw and tender on the inside. It was coated in sesame seeds with a very nice ginger slaw. My dad got the Fruti Di Mare. He absolutely loved it. This dish is his go to on any menu that has it. He said it was the best he'd ever had. We had the Tuxedo Dome (I think) for desert. Very delightful. Chocolatey without being too sweet. It sort of reminded me of tiramisu, but better. Yes. It's expensive. Between the 3 of us, it came to a little over $200, not including tip. But if you factor in the exceptional service, the freshness of the seafood, which is hard to find in these parts, and the fact that there is a great place to actually get great seafood around here, it's totally worth it. Poseidon Lounge in an attractive store front restaurant and bar located in the downtown business district of Port Clinton. The interior is quaint and inviting, and the staff is well trained and a pleasure to work with. The owner circulates through the dining room to check on guests experience. The food has its highlights and it has some also ran items. For my meal, I chose the Scallops served with a squash purée and a rustic risotto. The scallops were prepared to perfection and the squash purée was an absolute delight to the taste. The risotto however was the disappointment of the meal. It was lacking in flavor and was akin to taking a bite from a soggy rice cake. My wife ordered the smash burger, which was cooked to perfection. The jam that was served on the meat patty was far too sweet to be served with beef. It might be a better paring with pork, just not beef. The side that was served with the burger was billed as a parmigiana French fries. With a restaurant of this caliber serving higher end meals, I would expect hand cut potatoes that are double fried. Instead, the fries most certainly came from a commercially cut and flash frozen plastic bag. Then, after deep frying the potatoes were dressed with chunky parmigiana cheese. If a restaurant chain like Five-Guys can hand cut potatoes and double fry them in a high volume environment, I believe this restaurant can as well. They're new and they are still getting into their groove. With the tourism season ending, this is a good time to experiment with elevating their entire menu to the same level of their entries. I will return in the near future to check on their progress. I'm looking for a new go to restaurant for relaxed date nights with my wife and friends. read more

Eventually, had a wonderful meal at Poseidon Lounge. Admittedly, I did not have a reservation and was hoping to snag a seat at the bar. The person greeting guests told me to go to the far end of the bar as some guests were getting ready to leave, and I could order a drink while I waited. That was not the system the bar had in place, and I felt in the way of servers while I waited. I apologized over and over. He asked about my drink, but without a seat I'm not sure the bartender could open a tab. It was very uncomfortable. Once I got a seat at the bar, everything changed. The bartender and staff were attentive and wonderful. Drinks were very good. I had the Fruti de Mar for dinner and it was delicious. Description says the sauce would be an arrabiatta, which I expected to be spicy. It really wasn't which might disappoint some, but I enjoyed it. I'll definitely be back! read more

We are so happy that Poseidon opened in the space formerly occupied by Rosie's. We now have a fine dining choice in Downtown Port Clinton. Our server, Kristy, was attentive and accommodating despite the restaurant being full and in business for only 5 days. Our meals were excellent. We had the sea bass, filet and filet Oscar. The steaks were cooked perfectly. Cocktails and Martinis are reasonably priced in the $10-$12 range. We will be back! I recommend reservations for table seating, especially on weekends. went tonight I understand the restaurant just reopened with a new start. we went there in the fall and it was spot on, but our experience tonight was far from what we expected. The new look is stark and lacking decor and very noisy from all the hard surfaces. our waiter was very attentive and said the meal would be pace out so each course would come at a proper space . We had just started appetizers when the main course showed up at the table. The 3 steaks we cooked to perfection but the pasta-and seafood was a train wreck. The side dishes had to be asked for and the carrots had no glaze. We expressed our concerns with the owner or manager who ever he was and he listened but could tell he did really care what we thought. offered a free desert to one member of the 4 party diners. Our tab for the table was over$400.00. We plan on going back but hope this review gives them something to discuss at their next staff meeting, if you don't admit you can't fix it.
