Best spot for drinks in lorain!
    Annie S.

Love love love this place! They have the best drinks and the owners/staff really put their heart and soul into it and IT SHOWS. Snap a pic outside with the Lorain mural and you feel like a tourist. We did bring a couple of out of town friends here and they were raving as well. So happy that this place is right off of Broadway in downtown Lorain and is helping bring that area back to life. The last time I visited I couldn't have a cocktail because I had just found out that I was expecting but the bartender recommended whipping me up a mocktail. That was so thoughtful and made me feel so welcome. The drink was delicious too! Would highly recommend checking this place out if you haven't yet! :)

Let me start by saying, DO NOT judge this book by its cover!! From the outside I thought my BFF was on crack when she told me to meet her here. Boy was I pleasantly surprised!! The bar is long and narrow and a little on the dark side, but the staff is absolutely a joy. They have a menu of handcrafted mixed drinks and a interesting beer selection (not a beer drinker so you're on your own) I tried 3 different drinks made with tequila.. yummy!! They do have a limited food menu as well. We sat outside on the patio there's also a 2nd bar with seating out there. I will absolutely be back, I'm excited to try more on their menu. The owner stopped by our table which we appreciated It's moderately priced. There's 2 bathrooms that are unisex and clean and well maintained. Try it!

A very very nice Bae and very nice cocktails.Lorain is starting to make strides in its downtown area.To be honest it's just a hop skip and a jump from Cleveland and Sandusky for a good drink and chill adult time.so if your going to a show at the Lorain Palace this is a great pre game and after game place to grab a few drinks. Also it's close to Union Town Provisions Restaurant as well.Lorains downtown is on the upswing and it's good to see it happening

I love speakeasies: the crafted drinks that arrive to your table like mini pieces of delicious art, the darkish mood lighting like your in a special secret place and the other patrons that visit in their classy attire to add to the ambiance. My group stopped in 5 minutes after opening on a summer Saturday early evening and this place was was filled with people looking for a chill and classy time and the drinks were as delicious as expected. Well done everyone.

Look at my hometown, being all next level. I come home to Lorain at least once a year to visit my family. I grew up here and have seen the constant ebbs the city has gone through. Lorain has just been waiting for its flow to compliment those ebbs. If Speak of The Devil is any indicator, then maybe it's finally time. We went here on a Wednesday night with a friend. The building, which my dad informed me, used to be the Ello paint store, is perfect for a bar. Coming from the East coast, I'm used to the long and skinny style bar or restaurant that is in old buildings to utilize the space. There are tables along the wall and the bar itself looks inviting and fun. The cocktails were totally on point. Paying 8-10$ is actually still on the lower end of price point in Portland, ME, so having a expertly crafted cocktail experience in my hometown is well worth it. I hope that this doesn't deter too many Lorainites and that they are still trying to cater to the long-standing residents of the town who still want simple drinks, like rum and cokes or 7 and 7s. Our server, a younger guy with long hair, was so nice and helpful. He checked on us at the appropriate times and gave recommendations for cocktails. We also had the bartender and one of the owners check on us. Making sure the customers, especially the new ones, feel at home, is a great way to make this a new go to spot. One of my favorite things about this bar was seeing the old high school jerseys on the wall. Lorain Catholic, my alma mater, is long gone, but there was one of our basketball jerseys on the wall. It was a nice touch of nostalgia along with the funky vibe that the artwork and books brought. The one peculiar thing I found was the closing time. There were at least 10+ people in the bar and they closed at 10pm. Maybe this is trying to keep away a certain clientele, but we would have stayed for at least one more hour and would have probably ordered another drink. Speak of the Devil is definitely worth a trip from out of town for a cocktail and next time I'm around in trying something from their kitchen!

I have been here about 4-5 times in the last year and it's definitely the best place in downtown Lorain. We've always had good service and they serve great drinks, so I'm not sure why it's taken me so long to write a review! This last visit, the bar was packed on Saturday night - every seat was taken, so we grabbed an empty spot at the end of the bar to stand out of the way, as it's a pretty narrow walkway between the high top tables and the actual bar. We stood at the bar for about 10-15 minutes when the owner approached us to let us know a table was leaving. Once we grabbed the table, the young man with long hair who was helping us behind the bar came over to see if we needed anything else a few times. They had live music which made the atmosphere even better than usual. Exceptional service this last visit! I'm definitely a fan and love to see life return to downtown Lorain.

5 stars for service and cocktails. 3 stars for the pizza. So I heard about this place right after they opened about a year ago and I have been wanting to go ever since but it's kind of a drive for me. Finally I met up with a friend for dinner. First when you walk in this place looks really cool. It does not look like it belongs in Lorain. The decor is really neat and they have some Lorain memorabilia hanging on the wall above the bar. They have plenty of tables but you can also sit at the bar. This place is definitely about good customer service. The gentleman behind the bar that helped us was willing to explain literally every cocktail on their menu. My friend and I are not big liquor drinkers so we did need some help. We each decided on the "Uno Mas" which I'm guessing is their spin on a tequila sunrise. It was very good - we each had 2. They have a very limited beer selection here. I think they only had four beers on tap but it was pretty cool because they were all local or Ohio beers. They also have red and white wine to choose from. Although they are known for their cocktails they have a full bar. One of the big reasons I wanted to come here is because I follow them on Instagram and they started advertising a pizza a couple of months ago that they call the "Dilly Dilly". This is a pickle pizza and I am a huge fan of pickles. This pizza was absolutely loaded with delicious, gooey, melted cheese. The ratio of pickle to pizza was absolutely perfect. But I do have a couple of issues one there is not enough bacon. Not only is there not enough bacon but it's not distributed well either some of my slices of pizza didn't even have a bit of bacon on it. Two there was not nearly enough dill or garlic on this pizza. Honestly with the exception of the actual pickles this pizza was kind of bland. I was slightly disappointed. The crust though was very interesting. It was between a thin crust and a standard size crest. It was really delicious. I did take my pizza ho honestly with the exception of the actual pickles this pizza was kind of bland. I was slightly disappointed. The crust though was very interesting. It was between a thin crust and a standard size crust. It was really delicious. I did take the other I half of my pizza home and covered it with dill and fresh crushed garlic and it tasted much better. This reheated well in the oven 350 for 12 minutes. I will definitely be back for more cocktails and to try a different pizza. It's definitely the coolest spot in Lorain.

Since I live in Rocky River I like getting my cocktails at Polpetta. One of the owners there told me that I need to check out Speak of the Devil. (Side note: yay for local businesses supporting each other!) So I'm like, okay, let's do this. Show up with a friend early one Friday evening to check out the goods. Scored some close street parking. No issue getting a high top table right away. Atmosphere is chill with dim lighting and this sort of speakeasy vibe to it, like this is the place where the cool kids go. My friend who is familiar with Lorain said it was not like anything else in the area. Service was friendly. (Side note: no actual kids here. I'm 33 and was the youngest customer by like 15 years. To be fair I was there around 6pm so maybe the younger crowd shows up later). We shared a Dilly Dilly pizza $15. You get eight slices with crust on the thinner side but not flat. Not bad tasting, I ate my share, but disappointed it was wasn't better. So much potential! It reminded me of a plain burger and even had those long sandwich sliced pickles on it. If i'm getting a pickle pizza those pickles better stand out and not be boring. Give me flavor! Could have used some dill plus garlic or more potent of a horseradish sauce. And what's up with the full pieces of bacon just casually laying on top? Crisp up that bacon, chop it up, and evenly distribute it on the pizza! I'm sorry, I shouldn't be this cranky, but you go in thinking "omg this pickle pizza is gonna be amazeballs!" only to discover it's mediocre. The cocktails though, I'm satisfied with those. We each got two drinks. I went with the Hawaiian Sunset $8 and the Painkiller $10. Prices here are more reasonable than what you will find closer to Cleveland (example: Velvet Tango Room charges $18 for their concoctions). Tasty, and seemingly well crafted, but I would not call them strong, at least not the ones I got. While I won't be making the drive over here regularly, I can definitely see how this would be the happening spot for those that live in the area! Perfect place for drinks with a date. Also, check out their website, some kind of broken up story telling going on. I read a couple and it might be a murder mystery? I don't know what's going on.
