As for the cookies, they lacked a rich, buttery flavor and tasted mostly like flour--which is disappointing, since it's usually hard to mess up a cookie. The counter is in the back; they have a large selection of breakfast items but the main draw is coffee. They have all the brewed standards, plus along the rear wall are dozens of roasted beans to buy to go. Beans from all over the world, roasted in different ways, some with flavoring. You can fill up bags to enjoy your favorites at home. During our visit, I ordered a bagel and their star tots. The bagels were great quality, toasted to order with any toppings. They have options for breakfast sandwiches as well. I also had a cold brew. The staff was small, but surprisingly efficient even with the amount of customers coming and going. Prices are super reasonable as well. If you're in the area, this is a cozy spot for breakfast.

We sat for about 30mins and enjoyed our drinks, cooled off, used the restroom and did some people watching. Place was very steady. People talking out and staying in. This seems pretty popular. Went to this bar because my friend has a connection to "Jax" and just wanted to get a drink from here because what the name means to her. Andy was immediately rude to my two friends who happen to be a lesbian couple. Refused to serve them. We reluctantly left, and the people on the front patio immediately jumped into action. Some of them work there from what we could tell, and others are locals who jumped at the chance to display their bigotry. One girl in what looked like a badly placed black wig was making lewd gestures to my friends about being lesbians, another dude said "It's a free country WE CAN DO THIS NOW!!!", and another lady called one of my friends a c**t after telling her "this bar isn't a place for your kind". As we were walking away, "Wig", yelled to me "I bet you're gonna get pegged by them tonight!" Thinking she was so hilarious getting the last word in. Utterly disgraceful locals feeling emboldened by a case that represents the minority of this country. I would suggest anyone who is a member of the LGBTQ community (or friends/family of them) steer absolutely clear if this bar. They will claim you are "too drunk to serve with bloodshot eyes" but once you push back because you are not that, they show their true colors that it's because they don't want to serve people who happen to be LGBTQ. The vibe of the entire place once we walked in was tense and super small location so even if we had been served, would've dipped out quickly.

Saturday night was pretty popular and the patio was full, so we sat inside, which is why our photos were rather dark. We started with a round of drinks. I had a glass of rose. Note that the drinks menu is several pages longer than the food menu, with beer, wine, and a variety of specialty and standard cocktails. They also have an espresso bar. It wasn't on the menu, but we ordered the Street Corn dip from the specials board on the sidewalk. We got a nice sized serving, and it was very good. I had the za'atar roast chicken for my entree, and it was delicious! The chicken comes with a lemon yogurt sauce, and Fattoush salad, but the salad was kind of a cross between Fattoush and tabbouleh, with pita chips and a grain base. It was a great combo, and the chicken was very juicy and seasoned nicely. I ended up with a slice of the almond cake, which was moist and had sliced almonds on top. Very much needed after missing out in the ice cream stop this afternoon! One of my friends had a bowl of gumbo and the other one had the taco pie. Since everyone enjoyed their dinner, and we confirmed that the patio was dog friendly, we returned with Miss Pup for brunch. We were able to snag a patio seat with a super friendly server. Miss Pup mostly hung out under the table, but managed to convince some other diners to pet her. We went with some plates for the table - Chicken and Waffle, Chilaquiles, and the special Quiche, which had sundried tomatoes, bacon and feta. All 3 portions were just right for us. The chicken was really moist and the waffle had slightly crispy edges. It came with some fruit and syrup. The quiche slice was generous and it came with a large portion of salad with a fruity vinaigrette. The sundried tomatoes were a really fun addition! I chose the chilaquiles. I'm pretty sure the chips were fried fresh (the ones last night were not), and I liked that it had beans and pico on top! This dish did not contain enchilada sauce, it was more like breakfast nachos, but I really enjoyed it. This place is definitely worth a stop, and the menu stands out from the standard island fish and chips and burgers fare (not that I dislike those things, just something different)!
