Tostada trios
Julie S.

My husband and I finally got a chance to try out Mar & Tierra. The complimentary chips and salsa were very tasty. The tostadas were load- the carnitas very flavorful. The shrimp had a nice kick, generous portions. The servers both very friendly- checked up on us many times. Very nice vibe.

Randomly found this spot and also realized it was the same place as the one in San Jose on 13th street Maza which I love that place. Ordered their tostada mango, 7 mares, fish tacos which are so bomb, as well as Marta y Tierra which had steak shrimp rice and beans and the picture had a cheese but it didn't come with it. The shrimp was pretty small but the plate was still good. The 7 mares was good as well except for the salmon in it I think it was pretty rubbery and hard to eat. The mango tostado is always my go to. Also got a mojito Cubano which was delicious. Would come here again if on the area! Great customer service to always checking on it. The place wasn't busy so maybe it gets busy at night or something.

Aguachile Mango habanero
Ashley L.

Unfortunately the worst aguachile I've ever had. The camarones on the miche were also extremely salty so I couldn't even eat them. The mango habanero tasted nothing like that. Also extremely salty. Normally if I don't like food I'll still eat it but I couldn't keep eating it was not enjoyable at all. They remade it and gave us aguachile verde but there was no sauce on it it was just lime juice. Luckily I was able to eat that but still not very good.

We had a really enjoyable weeknight dinner at Mar & Tierra. This is located in an unassuming strip mall off of Kooser. When you walk inside, you are transported to a coastal resort. The decor is really festive. I was also surprised at how large this restaurant is! We were saying it would be a fun place to bring a group. We were seated quickly. They don't have paper menus, just a QR code you scan. The menu is good-sized with a lot of classics (burritos, tacos, etc.) and also a whole seafood section. I tried the fish tacos and they were really good. Very fresh and flavorful. We also got the guac and ceviche starter, which was really good. We just missed the Happy Hour that ends at 5. Probably would have to hustle there a little faster after work, particularly if I'm in the mood for a margarita. The server was great and very personable. She let us know about some of the specials they have including $1 tacos on Taco Tuesday. We will be back!

Hot sauces

Came on a Tuesday for Taco Tuesday deal. Order a drink and get tacos for $1 Nice big, newly renovated interior. Plenty of seating for small and large parties. The Aguas Frescas were good, tasted better than ordinary taco spots. I tried the Horchata with Coconut & Pineapple with Mango They had an assortment of bottled hot sauces in a bucket on the table. Free chips and salsa were yummy, I liked the salsa that came with this and ordered an extra one to use for my tacos. Pro Tip - ask for 1 tortilla instead of 2 for tacos. Tacos were just okay, the meat quality wasn't the most tender/ juicy. I enjoyed the Birria the most. Restaurant was not busy when I went but employees told me they were slammed earlier in the day due to Mexican Independence Day. Service was great, multiple waitresses checked on me throughout the meal. I prefer their other restaurant Maza more, but I'll try this restaurant again in a few months to compare.

This review is long overdue. My husband and I came across Mar y Tierra and I happened to have it saved in my Favorites. We came in early afternoon on a Wednesday and there were only a couple of patrons. The young lady who greeted us was very friendly and promptly sat us. It was very spacious with colorful decor. They have a huge TV screen at the back end of the restaurant and a nice bar with three TVs. We looked at the menu beforehand and had a good idea of what we wanted: Seafood Soup, Campechana seafood cocktail, and Jalapeno Mexican sushi. OMG! It was sooo scrumptious! The seafood was fresh and flavors were delectable! You also get complimentary chips and salsa. The waitress checked on us often and was always cheerful. Highly recommend Mar y Tierra! We will definitely be back!

Came here on a Tuesday to check out their Taco Tuesday special -- $1 tacos with the purchase of a drink. Why not, right? They offer a solid variety of proteins: asada, al pastor, chicken, chorizo, and birria. The tacos come double-tortilla'd (a must), and I was honestly surprised by how generous the portions were for just a dollar. These tacos are packed with filling -- definitely not the skimpy kind. I tried a few different ones, and the al pastor stood out . They only offer one salsa it's an orange salsa and has a nice little kick to it. I wish they had salsa roja or verde as well! I ordered a Paloma as my drink, but I wasn't really a fan. It tasted a bit off not balanced quite right. Hopefully they can tweak that, because it's a great drink to pair with tacos when done well. You can tell the place is still new and figuring things out it felt a little understaffed, which led to some delays. But the staff that was there worked hard and stayed friendly, which I appreciated. Overall, it has a lot of potential. Nice decor, tons of screens for games, and friendly staff. I'll definitely be back to see how it grows and for more of those $1 tacos.

Word has definitely gone out about the dollar tacos on Tuesdays. I've come twice already and service has been pretty good. Servers are very friendly. Since it gets busy on Tuesdays, be prepared to wait for your order. The tacos are good but the double tortilla was a little to much for me. I was able to order a few with just one and it was just right. However the second round I tried to order one, they wouldn't do it. I thought that was a little wierd but I wasn't going to make a big deal about it to the server. I got the birria this time along with al pastor, asada and chorizo. The birria and asada were my favorite. My toddler also enjoyed her agua fresca and tacos as well. Im sure we'll be back on a Tuesday again.

Amazing service, and food. Taco Tuesday is soo goood! A hidden gem for sure! Jackie was great!

Inside

New restaurant where the old 5thQuarter was (no loss!). Service is excellent, not all over me but still attentive. Happy to explain menu items and how Happy Hour works. Speaking of happy hour - I'm so happy! Amazing FREE bites with purchase of an adult beverage. Had the Ceviche and it was delicious. Next time the empanada! Fajitas. Huge. Took left overs home and in the morning cooked with an egg for a DIY breakfast burrito. Last visit I had Chorriadas. Loved every bite. They have an amazing space for MORE. I hope they bring in a variety of entertainment. I heard one of the lovely ladies say salsa dancing one night. But DJ would be a blast. Or local bands. The whole Almaden area lacks any actual good place to go. Done right, this could be amazing. As of time of post - Happy Hour has Free appetizer every time you buy any beer or cocktail Monday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday 2pm to 6pm

Beer battered fish Taco

Great option for Mexican sea food. Non seafood items are quite good too. It is quite a large place. We got tacos, carne asada and fish. Fish taco was delicious. Tortilla soup was flavourful. Plenty of parking in the corner mall.

Our happy faces after our meals !
Alex I.

Food is always delicious, and they have the best happy hour food and drinks specials from 2-5 pm M-W-Th and Fr... $1 dollar taco Tuesday when you purchase a alcoholic or soft drink , max 10 tacos per client

The food is fine. But the combination of the concrete floor, the bar lady yelling and the music leads to a fairly uninviting restaurant.

Luckily for us, it was absolutely worth it! We called in for takeout about 15-20 minutes out from the restaurant and everything was ready by the time we arrived. Initial impressions: I was glad that we got takeout lol. There were essentially little to no parking spots and the restaurant was PACKED. Line out the door and an even larger queue inside! It did feel a bit cramped but fortunately I was just in and out. Service was great too! We got the Lion King and a sashimi platter. The lion king was SOOO good. I always get worried ordering this at new sushi spots because I feel like it can be a hit or miss (especially when they load waaay too much spicy mayo on it lol) - this roll had the perfect amount where it wasn't too overpowering. The ingredients tasted fresh too! As for the sashimi platter - every piece was thick and fresh. I'd definitely come back for takeout! Make sure you call ahead of time.

If I knew that I would've just ordered a different roll as the price didn't change. Rolls were okay but overpriced at $18 per roll. And even more so with my missing topping. I'm happy that they didn't put sesame on the rolls as we have an allergy.
