Tried Thai Soul Kitchen and it's a cute little hole-in-the-wall spot with very limited seating, so keep that in mind--especially if you're going with a group. Service was good, even with how busy it gets. The menu is pretty extensive, which is nice. Food was good overall, but not the best Thai I've had. The curry was surprisingly really good (and I'm usually not a curry person), and the pad see ew was definitely a standout. It does get crowded, so I'd recommend going at an off time or planning ahead. Overall, a solid spot!

INCREDIBLE Pad See Ew! I can see why they're known for their Crispy Pork Belly as well. The restaurant is very small! Less than 10 tables inside. If you're coming in, maybe a max of 6 people in your party would be ideal. Papaya Salad Laostian Style (5/5): Super funky and fragrant. I loveddd the salted crab sauce. Crunchy papaya and pork rinds are the best! I wish the portion was bigger for the price. Needed more green beans and tomato in my opinion! But overall, soooo delicious. Pad See Ew with Crispy Pork Belly (5/5): This was so good! The noodle texture was perfect. The flavor was not too salty and not too sweet! The gailan was cooked just right, and the crunchy bitterness added the best contrast. The pork belly was THE STAR of the show! So juicy and fatty. Incredible. I can't come here and not order this. Jungle Curry (3/5): This wasn't our favorite. They didn't skimp on the veggies and meat, but the curry itself was very light and slightly bland. This is very remisicent of a veggie soup.

The tables are placed very close to each other, making the dining experience a little less enjoyable. The price is rather high given a so-so quality of food. The seasoning is on the strong side. I would prefer to have photos on the menu - the names of dishes are in Thai with lengthy descriptions in English and it took us quite some time to figure things out.

I'm going to start by saying why I rarely go out for Thai food, and why I find 99% of Thai restaurants to be 3 stars at best: THEY ARE ALL LITERALLY IDENTICAL Yes, that's right. Go to most any Thai restaurant and you'll find the same quality and same taste of just about everything. Even the menu will be the same! Too-sweet pad thai, soupy curries, overpriced appetizers. It's... fine. And I guess accessible for Western palates. But this started at least in the 1970s! Look at the variety of Chinese restaurants we have: Cantonese, Sichuan, Hunan, Dim Sum, Hot Pot, Skewers, (not to get political) Taiwanese... and that's just the big ones in the South Bay! Isn't it time we had some specialization and focus when it comes to Thai food? I think most of us know that Thailand is not just one cuisine, even someone like me who has never been to Thailand and isn't Thai knows that there are at least 4 large regions when it comes to cuisine (North, Northeast, Central, Southern). Where are the restaurants that focus on these rather than the cookie cutter menus that all the "meh" restaurants have? Well, I don't know that Thai Soul Kitchen is regional, but two things make them special. First, they don't have a cookie cutter menu. Yes, they satay and tom kha and tom yum and Massaman curry and pineapple fried rice and pad thai. So you can be basic and boring if you want. BUT they also have unique things that I haven't seen before (and which I ordered), like grilled river prawns and papaya salad with little crabs and basically their whole "Extra Special" section of the menu. And that brings me to my second point, which is that everything was fantastic. My dining companion and I ordered a feast for two, my guess is more like a normal amount for 3-4 people. But we were both hungry and the food looked interesting so restraint was not exercised. And we were rewarded with dish after dish of amazingness. To put a cherry on top, the host asked if we wanted the dishes spicy, and I asked to make them as hot as possible, and everything was spicy! Not something I expect since I think I get prejudged as someone who can't handle heat, but I really don't think they held back. They even brought out extra chile peppers and spicy condiments, which I made sure to use all of. Fresh, interesting, and very spicy food is a quick way to my heart. I will say, it's definitely not cheap, but Thai food never is here, so whatever. Everyone was very nice, service was fast, and there is tons of parking in the large strip mall. And they take credit cards too. I will definitely be back since I loved everything.

Service was friendly enough, but a bit slow. My family and I made a reservation in advance for a group of 8 (6 adults and 2 high chairs). They were kind enough to allow us a longer grace period, as we were running a bit behind. The restaurant itself is small. Initially they sat us in one area, but after we got settled in and they poured out waters, they ended up moving us because the way they arranged our chairs didn't allow for sufficient space for the adjacent patrons. I don't mind being moved, but the way we were told to move was a bit off-putting, like it was our fault that we sat there and took up so much space. After we moved, it took a good 10 minutes before we got water and menus. We ended just walking over to our old table and grabbing it ourselves, because the servers disappeared. The food also took a while to come out. While the food was decently tasty, it unfortunately was nothing to write home about.

We visited on a weekend and there was plenty of parking. I ordered roti with green curry for appetizer and it was really good, savory, and comforting. The chicken pad Thai is very saucy and flavorful and always 5/5! The cashew nut chicken was also delicious from the sweet tamarind sauce and crunchy from the cashews. Love this Thai food restaurant! The staff was fast and the ambiance was chill.

Had lunch here around noon on a Sunday with a group of 7 and we were seated pretty quickly! Due to space, we just had to wait a few moments for tables to be pushed together. Staff were super friendly and knowledgeable about the menu, dishes, and even their chili! We ordered family style with an array of dishes that came out promptly. They were all tasty but for me personally the Hor Mok Talay and Pad Kee Mao were the really memorable. If you like spicy, ask for the pickled serranos or the thai chilis in fish sauce! They even have sambal and a chili oil that pairs nicely with the dishes. The restaurant gets heavy takeout traffic and fills up quickly with patrons but service is quick and helpful. The restaurant is lively and a beautiful mural up on the wall. Amazing experience- would definitely come back!

Thai Soul Kitchen is an amazing "Vegetarian & Jain Friendly" place right in the heart of Almaden Valley in San Jose. We visited this restaurant with friends it was nice. Restaurant is pretty small with few tables inside and couple outside, so prepare to wait for some time before your turn. We visited on Saturday evening around 6:30PM and it was packed, tried to call in and make reservations, but because they might be busy, no one picked up the phone. We tried couple noodles (Pad Kee Mau & Rad Na, Green Curry, Basil Fried Rice, & Veg. Potstickers. Medium spicy is spicy for Pad Kee Mau, but other dishes were not too spicy. Being a strict vegetarian it was very important for us to not get our food mixed up with meats and loved how they have separate menus for Vegetarians, this is the first ever Thai establishment where they have entire separate vegetarian menu. One suggestion to keep in mind: Call ahead of time for reservations on weekends. Pricing: Prices of each item is little higher compared to other restaurants in the area, and quantities doesn't justify the high price. Parking: There is lot of parking in the lot since this is in the same parking lot as Safeway. Location: Convenient location Dietary Restrictions: Good place for Vegetarians, Vegans & Jains alike. Coupons or other offers: N.A, Views: View of Parking lot.

We came here for lunch today. It's located in the Almaden shopping center by Safeway and Starbucks. We were seated immediately. We got there right when they opened, so we were their first customers of the day. It's really beautiful inside. I loved the beautiful mural on the wall of the grand palace in Bangkok. The tables have lovely tablecloths and placemats with Thai elephants on them. Very elegant. We were served water and given menus to look at. My husband ordered the Thai red curry with chicken. Since it was a lunch special, it came with rice, a spring roll and a side salad. He decided to upgrade his rice to brown rice for an extra $2.00. I ordered the Penang curry with chicken lunch special. We also ordered vegetable spring rolls for an appetizer and an order of shrimp pad Thai without bean sprouts. My husband ordered the Thai iced tea for his drink. Our salads arrived quickly. Just a small salad with lettuce, bits of carrot, purple cabbage and cucumber with thousand island dressing. The Thai iced tea came out fast but my husband didn't care for it. Our spring rolls came out next. They were piping hot, but tasted delicious. I really like the sweet chili sauce they came with. Both our lunch specials came out next. Both were just okay. My husband ordered the medium spice level but there was no spice at all. The red curry was very watered down at not very flavorful. My Penang curry was ordered mild and was perfectly mild for me. However the taste of the curry was so bland. It tasted as if they added water to thin it out. Our shrimp pad Thai came out shorty after our lunch specials arrived. They forgot to not add the bean sprouts. They kindly apologized and remade the dish quickly. The remade pad Thai was very good. Extremely flavorful and the shrimp were cooked perfectly. The customer service here was excellent. I will not order any of the curries if I return. They are so many other menu items to try here, so I will be returning.

Green curry with chicken and a noodles dish that was superb

Everything was superb. The chef and owner is Thai. The taste of the food is exceptional - it's been a while since I had such great Thai food - I have had many thai food in the Bay Area but this one had some superb taste and spice to their food. Well done guys - get the sticky mango rice for dessert. The ambiance is homey as the patrons seemed to know the owners - incredible

Tried a new Thai place today called TSK and really enjoyed their food. Luckily we got seated right away but I noticed how quickly it got filled. The space is small so definitely recommend making a reservation. A lot of people picked up their food too so many people who are familiar with their food end up doing that instead of dining in I suppose. The staff were incredible.. so kind, so well spoken and really made us feel welcome and helped us make our order suitable for our needs. Due to unable to have spicy food, the team ensured a lot of the food was made non spicy. The one dish I asked for mild spicy was made exactly that - mildly spicy ! The food was cooked fresh (I could tell from the veggies) . Coming to what we ordered.. we got the mango salad, pineapple fried rice, Panang curry and the pad Thai. I had never tried a mango salad so was really surprised with how awesome this was.. the Panang and rice were good too. I was less impressed with the pad Thai here but overall food wise I think it was good and more importantly fresh! We also ended the meal with some candies from Thailand which was a highlight for my kid. I will be ordering from here again and coming to dine in again :)

This was a To go, so no comments on Ambiance. One of the dish was not ordered that is a concern as of service. Vegetarian - Tom Sapps The clear broth soup with tamarind juice, onion, mushroom, chili flake, cabbage, tomatoes, fresh tofu ,lime juiceand roasted rice powder. Big difference in this soup is tamarind juice which gives a different profile must try. Pad Phed Stir fried red curry paste dish with eggplant , bamboo shoots, green beans, onion , red bell peppers , basil , mushroom, young pepper seeds , kaffir leaves , kha chai and basil. This was a ok dish. Vegetarian - Gaeng Ka Ree Curry Yellow curry. Yellow chili paste, coconut milk, potatoes, onion, carrot and curry powder. This is the dish we did not order but we ordered a different dish. Taste was also not good either. Pad Kee Mao ( Drunken noodles ) Stir fried flat rice noodles with dark soy sauces , broccoli, cabbage, tomatoes, red bell ,green bean , Kha -Chai ( thai herb ) and basil. This was very good one generally the noodles get clumped in most of the places. This dish did not have that issue so each bite more flavourful as we can have the sauce and veggies in one bite.

Taro Curry Puff - like a version of a samosa

Had no expectations just found something close by, parking was easy as it's a big plaza. Restaurant space is pretty small but various table sizes, restroom is all the way in the back behind the kitchen. The prices are a bit high but the food was so delicious!! The curry taro puffs were cooked perfectly and had lots of flavor! Like a samosa but a Thai version. Service was nice and my cup of water was always full from sly refills Would return!

Ask the Community - Thai Soul Kitchen

Do they take reservation for lunch?

I made reservations for dinner, so I am assuming they do take reservations for lunch as well, especially if the party is larger and they only have few tables. Hope this helps.

    Do they serve wine?

They are in the process of getting their liquor license, so not yet.
