The tom yum soup is some weird noodle dish now that doesn't remotely taste like tom yum at all; it's super sweet as opposed to sour. The beef basil was really dry and the papaya salad tasted really off and unlike Thai papaya salad that I didn't dare swallow it. It's located in the food court area of Grand Century and they offer some seating, though it's mainly a takeout place. Their crab pad Thai is so freaking delicious and their servings are huge. For around $16, I can stretch out a portion of crab pad Thai into 3 meals (I add extra bean sprouts or cabbage at home for veggies). Me and my family used to come here so often for their food pre-covid. Their pad thai was the BEST pad thai I've ever had, creamy, perfectly cooked noodles, amazing egg smell, tangy, topped with peanuts and ample of pieces of chicken + 2 shrimps. Their bangkok noodles was amazing. The most unique dish I've ever had and the reason I would always come back. Super smokey flavor, slightly sweet aromatic, but a savory dish. On top of that, they gave complimentary thai tea with free refills and a hot bowl of sour soup. After covid, prices went up and the meals were still okay, just lost a bit of flavor. They no longer gave out thai tea or the sour soup. Their bangkok noodles still hit, it had that signature smokey smell, flavor, and super moist. Now, the pad thai is no longer sour. It tastes like your regular stir fry noodles. There's no signature egg smell or wetness to the noodles, it's pretty dry. I was highly disappointed with the bangkok noodles since I mainly order it for the smokey smell and moistness. I'm not sure if they changed chefs, but it became super dry, no more smoke flavor, there was barely 3 pieces of cut up bok choi leaves, not even the stem (they used to give full pieces and broccoli). We had ZERO beef and 1/2 of a scrambled egg incorporated into the noodles. Their house special fried rice used to have an amazing fish sauce + egg smell. They've also cut down on the meat as well (there's barely any chicken and they've changed from whole prawns to mini prawns. Their green and yellow curry are also more diluted, I'm assuming they switched out the coconut milk with water and it's just not as flavorful anymore. Hainan chicken also became drier and the meat proportions are less. The sauteed beef dish is tough to eat now, it used to be very tender and my dad loved it. I used to absolutely love this place and the owners were very sweet, but unfortunately the quality went way down. I will still come back here from time to time in order to support them, but I hope they bring back their signature dishes and what made them truly stand out as a business so that customers can continue coming back. read more

I can't count the amount of times I drove to Grand Century/ Vietnam Town just to grab Thai Lover. They are located in the food court of Grand Century ( go through the main entrance, make a left to go to the food court, and they're the first one). I would say the have the BEST CRAB PAD THAI. (I have also tried their vegetarian pad thai and their shrimp pad thai. I love them both). The cashier was friendly and nice. It is located in an indoor plaza and I ordered the house special fried rice with pineapple which tasted savory and had a sweet aftertaste with the pineapple! The cucumber slices were refreshing and were a nice touch. They have so many options to choose from so it was hard for me to decide. I am a visual person and the menu was located on the walls with a bright yellow background which made it difficult to see what the food looked like. The photo on the wall and the food that I received looked different but it tasted good! I just think it would be nice if they updated the photo quality. I only tried mango sticky rice from here, I cannot comment a lot on the rest of the food. Mango sticky rice was good, just wished it had extra coconut cream, portion was big enough. This place is located in a Vietnamese plaza and serves Viet cuisine as well. I think the ladies running the place are Vietnamese as well...at least form the information I gathered during my visit. Truly a hidden gem in Grand Century Mall. I can only speak on the fried banana's which we were quickly captivated by. Not only were they delicious on their own, but we were able to get a fresh batch of them! The price on them is fair as well, so we got plenty to take home. On a spontaneous lunch date with my little brother and mom, we stumbled across the Grand century mall and decided to try Thai Lovers. Some thing about the food court in the mall has always been comforting to me so ambiance was very much there today! Service was super surprising to me not to long after we ordered, the Pad Thai came out along with the Thai tea which was perfect. Alongside quick service came nice workers. I found the workers kind, and in general felt comfort while eating there. As for the food, the Pad Thai was super filling to me. Perfect portion even for two, the crushed peanuts also give it points ;) Now, the mango sticky rice I will never stop thinking about it. It was very rich and the mangoes were super sweet. It's homey and reliable-- a solid Thai restaurant in the heart of East SJ, located in the food court of Grand Century Mall. They sadly do not serve bottomless Thai tea anymore like they used to, which I think was the main draw, but the food is still as good as I remember it was a decade ago. Their Tom yum soup is BOMB. Even during the pandemic, you can still go through the mall and order inside all of these shops. Previously, you would go through the back of the mall to pick up your food but it looks like everything's open normally again. Unfortunately, we ordered a chicken and vegetable Pad Thai and they weren't as flavorful as they used to be. They still give you a ton of food, but it's unfortunate that it doesn't taste the same anymore. We've been coming for a few years and it's always been pretty consistent until today. I don't live close so I've always gone out of my way to come here because the food was good and the price was extremely competitive and inexpensive. They drastically increased the price ($2 per Pad Thai) which makes sense due to the current state of the economy. However, at $12.75 it's now comparable to other Thai restaurants so it's not as worth it to make the trek all the way out here anymore. Lastly, it looks like soup and Thai Tea aren't included with your meal anymore. They also used to give shrimp in their pad thais but they no longer do. I really enjoyed these in the past so I was just a bit disappointed when it didn't come with my meal. Overall, the people here are super nice, but it's not as good as it used to be. THE BEST Pad Thai I've had in San Jose, no doubt! The women that served us were super sweet and made sure we looked at everything on the menu. My friend and I sat down after ordering in the food court area. To our surprise, they served us a complimentary Thai Iced Tea and a small cup of Tom Yum Soup... SO GOOD. We only waited maybe 5 minutes for our Pad Thai ($11.75). It was the perfect serving for the two of us to share. The noodles were much thinner than the usual Pad Thai I'm used to - which made the texture of the noodles have a great bouncy firmness to it. It was addicting!! The food court inside of Grand Century has plenty of options, but Thai Lovers really stood out because of its Banh Mi Bo Kho - a Vietnamese dish which consisted of a bowl of beef stew with a side of two baguettes. The beef stew was super flavorful and filled with nice lean pieces of beef as well as chewier tendons. The baguettes were freshly baked and super crispy on the outside, yet soft on the inside. In fact, the bread was perfect for dipping into the stew, as it did a great job of soaking up all of the flavors and spices from the soap. This rating is purely on the one dish I always end up ordering no matter how many times I come here. The number 9 spicy crab noodle!! It always comes out consistent and delicious. The combination of spiciness from the red chilli to the slight sweetness of the crab noodle gets me every time. When you squeeze in fresh lime it's a flavor burst. The bean sprouts adds that nice cooling crunch. It's a must to mix all these components up for a perfect bite! They've been around for a long time and the dish is worth the $13. My friend recommended this place to me, and I had high expectations. However, I was not super satisfied. I ordered the pad thai (spicy) and spicy crab noodles. They are really good and standard. It definitely was not boring. It felt authentic and had some wow factor. Definitely not like those boring places in Valley Fair mall. So this place is located in Grand Century Mall, but it's more legit. Asian mall clearly. It's not super authentic Thai, but it's Southeast Asian for sure. I say this because you can tell it's heavily Vietnamese influenced. Strong fish sauce aroma. Location makes sense. I was not a fan of the noodles used. Too skinny and thin. This affects the texture. I prefer it slightly wider, like usual Thai places. The flavor was pretty good, but it was not super savory in the way that I liked. My favorite is Oros Thai, another spot. I must say, the spice flavor is really good here. If it was not for the spice, it would be boring. Good spice. The chicken, shrimp, and crab meat here were mediocre. Super thin and dry chicken cuts. The shrimp was standard, but whatever. Crab meat did not blow me away. Felt really processed and tasted cheap. Not a fan of the crab meat here. Honestly would not come back. Felt too homemade.
