We stopped by for brunch on our way back to the Detroit area on a Sunday morning. Our waiter was fantastic! Solicitous, swift and genuine. My mushroom and truffle omelet was fluffy and perfectly prepared as was husband's scramble. Pancakes were underwhelming but served with fresh fruit and warm maple syrup. It's delicious and everyone knows it so expect to wait. We were lucky enough to be renting a condo right across so I'd run down in the morning to put our name in and then bring the kids down when our table was ready. On the Sunday and Monday mornings we brunched there it was about a 30-45 min wait. Once seated the food came out relatively fast, which was good for my hangry children. I went with the make your own omelette option both days, which was cooked to perfection. My kids had avocado toast, M + B pancakes (ginormous) and waffle. And my husband was a big fan of breakfast tacos. It was all so good we did it again the next day. It's definitely a scene and I ran into people I know both days from my childhood and I don't even live in the area. It's clearly a hot spot for those visiting Northern Michigan and I can see why based on the delicious food and charming atmosphere. read more

The oats were so delicious and full of flavor! It comes with homemade whipped cream too but I said no to the cream and honestly it doesn't need anything added. It's that good!! What a great first experience. Arriving just 20 minutes before closing they got us in and were as friendly as could be. Coffee- delicious. We were just having a light lunch so tried the amazing flapjacks and they did not disappoint. We would also describe as a crepe pancake with crispy edges. Oh yum! 3.5 stars for maple & batter. We stopped in on a Saturday morning and the service was not great. We do not recommend getting the bloody Mary's as they were very inconsistent and full of ice. The food did make up for the lack of service. We had the French toast- which came with 4 slices and the mushroom truffle omelet. The omelet was really great for an omelette. We also got a side flapjack that reminded us of a crepe with crisp edges. We recommend the flapjack. There is a porch option for dining as well as inside seating. Went here this weekend, customer service has gotten bad. The manager Kim needs to be more pleasant. I know they're busy at times but she doesn't smile and she is not welcoming in the slightest bit, and she acts like a prison warden. After waiting for an hour and a half, I lost my appetite. My daughter ordered hash browns to not be well done. She sent them back and we were brought out raw uncooked hash browns. We also ordered the breakfast tacos that come with caramelized onions and the onions were freezing cold. The biscuits on the breakfast charcuterie board are dry and inedible. The server we had was amazing and tried to make the rest of our experience better than it was. We go here quite often but I am thinking about not ever returning. read more

I said previously that I'd come back for the food, but not the service. My wife and I were in town for lunch, and I decided to try here again. I was not disappointed! We stopped in at about 1:20. I didn't realize they closed at 1:30; oops. We were cheerfully seated near a window. There was one other couple also dining on this cold Monday afternoon. They had a cocktail menu; this was new. It had several options for alcoholic brunch-like drinks. I had a screwdriver and it was very nice - a large glass with plenty of oj. Service was polite and pretty quick. I had the spicy chorizo omlette, and it was packed with sausage, cheese, tomatoes, and was cooked perfectly. A manager stopped by the table and asked how brunch was. That was really nice. Their POS system (clover, I believe) allows payment of the bill at the table with an iPhone. That's pretty cool. This was a nice dining experience. Well done! read more

Consistently good. This morning was our 4th visit. Maple + Batter has become our go-to weekend breakfast choice. Our personal favorites are anything with spice, such as breakfast burrito w/ancho chili hollandaise (ask for it on the side so that your companion(s) can share its goodness), chorizo omelette, saffron fried rice with two eggs on top, and house Bloody Mary made with local Gypsy vodka. The short stack pancakes are delish as well. Solid, friendly service with table side checkout completes the experience. We tend to arrive before 9AM and have never waited for a table, but when we leave after 9 there's always people waiting. Don't know how long they wait but just something to be aware of. read more

I visited this location on a Wednesday at noon and waited 20 minutes for a table (not bad at all). I was a little reluctant in going there for food because I frequented the Original Pancake House, that sat in the location prior to this, and wasn't sure it would compare. The hostess was super sweet and welcoming. Upon walking to our table the aesthetic was the white and black, chic farm aesthetic. They stuck with the same open kitchen theme that had been there before. There was cute faux grass décor that was very fitting to the theme. The restaurant was extremely clean, almost weirdly so, I was impressed. They have a great menu, not too overwhelming or underwhelming, and the prices were spot on. I was impressed to know that they used local meats, without raising the prices of the food. My boyfriend ordered the B.E.L.T., and was very impressed. I ordered the scramble and to say I was impressed was an understatement. The eggs themselves were delicious, and the hash browns were perfect. It felt like we had sat down at grandmas for a meal. Our server was Jordan and we have nothing but great things to say about him. He was so bubbly and welcoming, we never had to flag him down once, he checked on us just enough without it being overwhelming. It goes without saying that the server at the restaurant has a huge, if not the most, impact on what you think of a restaurant and as long as they hire people like him they will be golden. I would absolutely recommend this place. Knowing the quality of the food I wouldn't have been opposed to having had to wait an hour, we only had to wait 15 minutes. I will most definitely be coming back here. UPDATE: We went back here a second time and were just as impressed. My boyfriend got the breakfast quesadilla and I got the breakfast tacos. I did not get our servers name this time, but she was a younger girl maybe in her early 20`s. The service was just as amazing and so was the food.
